The Breakdown Of The Atomic Energy Act Of 1946
The Atomic Energy Act of 1946 was the spark of the nation's most radical law relating to
production, patents and control of information in response to this glooming energy crisis. Public
safety becomes the main written priority in the development of the Atomic Energy Act. However,
flaws began to emerge within the plan: inconsistencies disturb the private patent investors. This puts
the nation's economic stability at risk. There were possible emergences of monopolistic power
struggles for "unique" nuclear reactor models and resources. Foiled by their original public interest
objective, their secrecy led to possible questions about the Act2. Due to massive rise of concerns
about the future of the United States, the government began to become

Arthur Walworth's 1946 work, Black Ships Off Japan: The Story of Commodore Perry's Expedition,
was released in the immediate aftermath of World War II, near the beginning of the American
occupation of Japan. Walworth writes his account of Perry's expedition as objectively as possible
given the relatively limited sources available in English at the time. The work goes into considerable
detail in describing Perry's 1852–1853 visit, illustrating not only the minutiae of the diplomatic
maneuvering, but also the various formalities of leisure events and ceremonies which grew
increasingly frustrating to Perry.1 Walworth briefly examines Perry's 1954 return to Japan to accept

This volume is exceptionally valuable to the study of Perry's expedition due to its rarity. In 1852, the
Commodore ordered that all diaries and journals were now government property subject to seizure
and that members of his fleet were totally barred from any contact with media, directly or
indirectly.5 Preble managed to smuggle his diaries off the ship by disguising the entries as
individual letters to his wife, who collected and held them for him until his return home.6 This rare
inside look at the fleet will likely continue to be used by scholars studying Perry for years to come
as more fragmentary information is able to be teased out from its pages. Like many of the works

Dystopian Society In Brave New World
A perfect world seems nearly impossible to obtain. In Brave New World, by Aldous Huxley, a
society is created where stability is chosen over independence. Aldous Huxley creates a dystopian
world where everything appears to be perfect. A few characters see the problems and attack the new
world. In the World State's society, true happiness, freedom, emotion, and reality are robbed from
the members. To begin with, the members of the World State are conditioned to a certain caste
where they are to perform tasks based off of their position. According to the Controller, "One
believes things because one has been conditioned to believe them" (Huxley, 1946, p. 234–235). As a
result of conditioning, individuals of the World State do not question their jobs and tasks. They are
modified to complete the tasks given to them. The Controller mentions to John, "People are happy;

Clinton had a way of explaining things in a way that made people believe him. The Republican
candidate was George H.W Bush. Wealthy billionaire Ross Perot also ran as an independent. People
were having trouble getting behind the reelection of Bush due to tax raises and the fact that Bush did
not act on the current recession going through the country. Perot took votes from both candidates
with his pledge of patriotism and budget balance but due to his leaving and re–entering the election,
people had trust problems. Clinton's campaign was mainly focused on economic issues and the
Reagan–Bush deficit. He emphasized the economic struggles the younger generations would be
stuck with. A slogan posted outside Clinton headquarters read, "It's the economy, stupid." Clinton
received twice as many electoral votes as Bush and a 43% popular vote. Perot got a popular vote of

Influence Processes: A Leadership Analysis
Leadership & Ethics for Managers
June 1, 2008 Abstract
A leader's ability to influence and motivate followers is a crucial skill that effective leaders must
possess. This is why organizations allow leaders to control many of the operational functions of the
organization. By controlling several key operational components, the leader is able to direct and
institute change throughout the organization. The purpose of this paper is to analyze leader influence
models and present the practical implications of their use. Influence Processes: A Leadership

By having control over the organizations reward system, the leader can mold the organization into
one that conforms and promotes their organizational vision. Used correctly, this form of leadership
influence can effectively change an organization over time by rewarding those who buy into and
promote the leaders style of leadership.
Promoting and Selecting Leaders: In addition to the above influence factors, leaders also are
empowered to select and promote the leadership within the organization (Nahavandi, 2006). This
provides them with a powerful tool to influence and effectively create an organizational following
of their values and vision. By selecting leaders who mirror their values and leadership style, the
leader is able to create a loyal and like minded leadership staff. While this may be an effective
influence tool, the leader risks alienating key personnel and breeding doubts about their ability to
lead if they utilize this form of influence in an unethical manner.
Modeling Behaviors:
Finally, leaders can also use their influence to model the behavior of their subordinates (Nahavandi,
2006). They achieve this by providing guidance and advise to their followers and by inviting others
to participate in organizational team building activities. When leaders actively promote and
encourage their followers to follow their examples they are effectively molding the future behaviors

Outbreak Of A Rare Species Of E. Coli
Last summer 2011, Germany stumbled upon an outbreak of a rare species of E. coli O104:H4
(Pennington 2011). The causative strains appeared to have features from two different E. coli
pathotypes of enteroaggregative E. coli (EAEC) and shiga–toxin–producing E. coli (STEC) called
enterohaemorrhagic E. coli (EHEC) (Bloch, Felczykowska and Nejman–Faleńczyk 2012). The main
effect from this strain causes major incident of gastroenteritis and unusual develop of haemolytic–
uremic syndrome (HUS) among the affected patients (Rasko et al 2011). HUS often described as
group of disease of haemolytic anaemia, acute renal failure and thrombocytopenia (Schifferli eta al
2009). And it is known to be the result of infection by pathogens that produce shiga–toxin (Walker,
Applegate and Black 2012). This particular strain possessed several identical characteristics with
some older STEC cases but with different serotypes such as E. coli O105:H7, O121:H19 and
O111:H8 (Scheutz et. al 2011). At the end of the outbreak, nearly 3500 cases of EHEC were
recorded with 850 patients experience the progression to HUS and 82 deaths (RKI 2011).
On 1st May, hospital in Germany received patient with gastroenteritis symptoms and believed to be
the first case that linked with the outbreak (Altmann et al 2011). As of the first week of May, which
was the presumed initial onset of the disease, HUS cases started to develop and around 0 to 2 new
cases of HUS were recorded daily. Then, since 9th May, it started to show

question of my writing involvement will be entered this discussion as well.
First, my Cornell notes weren't very directly to the main idea. For example, in my Cornell note 01

As time went on in this course, my writing style changed to organizing my thoughts by following

Secondly, I would do less highlighting by miss the main idea for the book. I would put stars next to

the main characters in my annotations. I would observe and analyze the focus of the book, "Refuge".
The words from the book, "Refuge" are higher level than what I currently read.
However, starting this book has made me realize that I can learn new words. My grammar and

Siegel assaulted a roulette dealer he caught passing chips to a losing player. The comedienne and

amazing 28,000 people made it to the Flamingo those first nights, but because its hotel rooms were
not yet completed, guests had to find rooms at the neighboring El Rancho Vegas and Last Frontier
resorts, where they dropped some of what they had won at Siegel's expense. Siegel had every right
to expect to take in a lot of money from the casino, but the unlikely winners left while their luck was
good. The casino continued to bleed money through New Year's Day. By late January, Siegel
decided to close temporarily to save funds while he completed construction of the hotel and its

courts. He placed a newspaper ad announcing the Flamingo would shut its doors from February 6 to

Ambivalence In Hitchcock's 1946 Notorious
Hitchcock's 1946 Notorious takes place in the morally ambiguous world in the midst of post–World
War Two where the questioning of alliances and moralities have reached a breaking point. Alicia,
the daughter to an incarcerated Nazi supporter, finds herself in the midst of a purgatory world stuck
in between love and hate, in other words one of ambivalence. In this state of conflicting feelings of
hatred and like for the same individual that results in a state of uncertainty or irrationality, alcohol,

undoing. These ideas of emotional extremes, ambivalence, are always reinforcing and surrounded
the idea of alcohol, seeing it as a destroying force as it is the initiating quality of the story lines and
is present throughout. Poe's "Black Cat" aims to showcase the existing parallels of this alcoholic
glitch as well as the relationships to alcohol leading to "many are the deceivers". Humanities

Cheers To Ambiguity In Hitchcock's 1946 Notorious
Cheers to Ambiguity: Ambivalence, Intoxication and the Death Drive in Notorious Hitchcock's 1946
Notorious takes place in the morally ambiguous world of post–World War II where the questioning
of alliances and moralities have reached a breaking point. Alicia, the daughter of an incarcerated
Nazi supporter, finds herself in the midst of a purgatory world stuck in between love and hate, in
other words one of ambivalence. This state of conflicting feelings of hatred and love for the same
individual lead to a world of uncertainty or irrationality where the lines of morality only continue to
be blurred. In other words, intoxication amidst this state is a driving force of the storyline aimed to
showcase the extremes of this desire of self–destruction ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
"The more we love the more we hate" is the defining feature of ambivalence showing the correlation
between the two emotions that are in fact, contrary to popular belief, deeply intertwined with one
another. Therefore, to love someone must also imply a desire to despise the one being loved.
"Ambivalence is the way we recognize that someone or something has become significant to us ....
wherever there is an object of desire there must be ambivalence". These strong emotions are seen as
a destroying force leading back to the desire of the death drive that is seen "As the essence of the
instinctual" that cannot be outrun. This meaning that "it (the death drive) binds every wish, whether
aggressive or sexual, to the wish for death". Sebastian, a Nazi, is so in love with Alicia, a potential
American threat and the object of his desire, that he knowing keeps pursuing her regardless of the
implications that being with such a notorious woman could only destroy him. When his love for her
takes a dark turn after being initially enthralled by Alicia, Sebastian by stating that "You always
affected me like a tonic" bringing about the idea of intoxication that love and hate blur the lines
between them. When he learns of her true nature of being a spy his

Analysis Of Albert Einstein's Essay On Racial Bias In 1946 '
#6 – "Albert Einstein's Essay on Racial Bias in 1946" by Trent Gilliss and Albert Einstein "The
Negro Question" by Albert Einstein is an incredibly smart, thought–provoking, and forward–
thinking for something that came out in the 1940s. Aside from the idea that discriminating black
people is bad, many of the ideas expressed here are concepts that some people still do not
understand. For example, the idea that one should be more mature before dealing with the political
or complex issues of a nation is something people still do not realize today. Young people are still
criticized for having their own possibly ill–informed opinion, even if they were raised to think that
way. In addition, Einstein's example of Aristotle thinking slaves were ... Show more content on

This anxiety about a possible deep, hidden racism in America has not only been exclusive to
Maryland. With the combination of the election and police brutality, there is no doubt that anxiety
and tensions are very high in the current state of our country.
#8 – "Who, me? Biased?" by The New York Times Implicit bias is a concept that originally gained
esteem during the 2016 election. It is defined as unconscious assumptions or stereotypes that are
race–related. For example, if someone pulled up two pictures, a white female and a black male, and
told you that one of them committed a crime, you are likely to choose the black male. You're not
racist, you have just been consuming all this media and images that paint black people or
specifically males as being criminals. There are many options to attempt to fix this bias implanted in
you. First, one should take a test to see if they even have a bias in the first place. If yes, then they
should attempt to overcome it. They can do this by either hanging out with people of another
ethnicity to learn who they are or to address that the racial anxiety exists and to work from there. In
my opinion, this idea of implicit bias is incredibly important for people to learn about and possibly
fix if necessary. Before this video, I had never heard of implicit bias and I always just figured I was
stereotyping people whenever I had thoughts like the ones presented in the

Deere quarterly sales analysis Essay
TO: JB Penn, Chief Economist, Deere & Co.
FROM:
DATE: 29 October 2014
SUBJECT: Quarterly sales analysis
Following an analysis of sales data between 1995 and 2012, it is recommended that that Deere and
Co. incorporate the seasonal indicator variables model to forecast future sales. In the regression
analysis for this model it was determined that it was able to explain approximately
90% of the variability in past sales. Adjustments to this forecasting model can be made by
incorporating overall economic climate projections, long–term weather forecasts, and commodity
market futures.
As evidenced in the sales plot, from January 31, 1995 through July 31, 2014 John Deere has enjoyed
steady sales growth with seasonal peaks recorded at end of ... Show more content on

Rump Organization
MEMORANDUM
To: Dr. John J. Morris, Department of Accounting
From: Group #2 (Jordan King, Kelsey Darnell, Xiaomeng Liao)
Date: 04/04/2013
Subject: ACCTG 642: Case 08–6, The Rump Organization
Statement of Relevant Facts
The Rump Organization is a commercial real estate company that purchases and constructs
commercial property. On the basis of the corporate restructuring plan, Rump's CEO, Ronald Rump,
and Rump's board of directors on December 27, 2005 approve a plan to involuntarily terminate 100
of the company's employees. The plan provides for each terminated employee to receive a lump–
sum cash payment equal to one month's salary only if the employee voluntarily signs a waiver of
any right to legal action against Rump. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
A possible solution is that a liability is not recognized at all. A second alternative solution is that the
liability would be initially recognized at communication date, December 31, 2005, then adjusted
cumulatively over the future service period, December 31, 2005 through the termination date of
January 31, 2006. A third alternative solution is that the liability is recognized on the
communication date of December 31, 2005. We assume that management would prefer no
recognition of a liability; however, if a liability must be recognized management would prefer the
liability to be recognized on December 31, 2005, then adjusted as terminated employees sign or do
not sign the waivers over the service period. Management would not want to recognize part of the
liability in January because this would negatively affect their balance sheet and their current ratio
during the first quarter, which could, in turn, affect the company's ability to satisfy contracts or
receive loans. In contrast, recognizing the liability at the end of the year would have little to no
material impact on the company's ratios or financials since it would be taking into account the entire
year versus a few months. The auditors' main concern will be to make certain that the liability is
recognized and reported in the proper fiscal year as this liability could be quite large and materially
affect financial statements.

The Changing Roles Of Women In Canada Between 1900 And 1946
The changing roles of women in Canada between 1900 and 1946 greatly impacted women's lives
today. Women during this time period led movements to gain rights for themselves. The Women's
Christian Temperance Union, Flappers, and the Famous Five showed women's strength in society.
Women displayed their contributions to Canada as they worked in different industries. Due to the
changing roles of women during these years, women's power resulted in the gaining of rights and
personhood. Paragraph 1 (Women's Movements): The suffrage movement greatly impacted how the
roles of women would change over time. Flappers also helped to show how Canadian women
changed throughout the years. Paragraph 2 (Women's Rights): The Famous Five were a group of ...

This was because they were expected to be seen as the motherly figure in the household and they
were presumed to be the ones to take care of the children. The women who were in the working
force during this time worked in any industry available. It was very rare to have women working
before the first World War, and those who worked did so to provide and support their family. Certain
jobs, such as in the government, were not open to women because they were considered to be
appropriate for men only. In 1916, conscription was introduced; all able–bodied men were enlisted
in the army. This made the need for women workers urgent. Some women went overseas to serve as
nurses in the war. If they were not nurses, they were recruited to work in areas that were formerly
reserved for men. The majority of women worked in factories to produce weapons. Despite doing
the same jobs as men, they were still paid considerably less. In 1917, over four hundred women who
worked in munition factories died from overexposure to trinitroluene, a chemical compound that is
used in explosive weapons. Their skin turned yellow from this chemical as a result of not being
provided with proper safety equipment and clothing. Working in munition factories put their lives in
danger, however, women still excelled while making weapons for war. Their success gave them the

George Kennan: The Long Telegram of 1946
George Kennan did not make any detailed policy recommendations in the Long Telegram of 1946,
although he made it clear that he did not regard the Soviet Union as the same type of threat as Nazi
Germany. He opposed the ideas of National Security Council Memorandum 68 (1950) as a
hysterical overreaction, and thought that global containment was a serious strategic error, especially
in peripheral regions like Indochina. Unlike Hitler, Stalin's aggression and expansion were
unplanned and opportunistic, and its leaders did not wish to risk a general war with the West. For
this reasons, the Soviets were highly sensitive to the "logic of force" and would retreat if confronted
with resolution (Kennan 1946). Internally, it was a police state ruled by a Communist Party
oligarchy and bureaucracy, but one that was always insecure in its power. Although Marxism had no
real emotional appeal to the masses, the elites were guided by the assumption that the imperialist
powers were always attempting to encircle the Soviet Union and that the contradictions within
capitalism would always lead to wars. They would attempt to exploit these differences within the
capitalist nations, while at the same time attempting to weaken their hold on the colonial areas.
Kennan was well aware that the main problem in Western Europe was war–weariness and economic
insecurity, and the U.S. would have to take the lead in reviving these countries or the "Russians
certainly will" (Kennan 1946). In this case, though,

Red Dress 1946 By Alice Munro Individuality And Conformity
In the story Red Dress 1946 by Alice Munro Individuality and Conformity is discussed. Some
examples of this is during the story is "there was a carnival atmosphere of brutality in the room at
such times, scaring weak and suspect people like me". The reason this is important to the text and
idea of the essay is because we often feel left out when we are ourselves. In life, we want to fit in we
are made to want this just like the main character in the story she wants a "dress like my friend
Lonnie had." Is it implied that she is in a poor finance situation, as many were at that time. The
author Alice Munro portrays situational social pressure when the main character gets home from the
dance a quote to support this "oppressive obligation I had, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

An example of this is on page nine after the protagonist's dress is make by her mother the quote I
will use to describe this is "well nobody ever made me a dress when I was in High School." Reasons
why this is important is because this shows the mother's why this is important is because we all feel
it at some point and for the lead character this is during the days before the dance. A perfect
illustration of family pressure is when the Mother of the friend of Lonnie exclaims, "I doubt if she
appreciates it." When we have home pressures some of us do things only to please the people
around us an example of the protagonist doing this is when "every morning, including the day of the
dance, I woke up in perfect health." This is ample evidence because the narrator shows how she
wants a reason to not go to the dance. Another image of family pressure is when the main character
is pressured into having the "protection of all female rituals." The reason this is important is because
she is trying to hide behind beauty to not show her insecurity to the point where she "looks like a
Zulu" with her hair curled. Further proof of family pressure is on page 12 when the mother says
"will I wish I could take a picture" "I am really, genuinely proud of that fit. And you might even say
thank you for it." The mother pressures her daughter to say a false "thank you" this image is given
by Alice Munro to show a teenage sassiness and it gives

The Changing Nature of Aboriginal and Non–aboriginal Relations in Australia from 1946–2000
Since the arrival of Europeans the Aboriginal population has suffered in terms of status, wealth,
health and sense of identity. Although there have been steps towards reconciliation there is still a
long way to go until Indigenous Australians enjoy the same status as non–indigenous Australians. A
referendum was made in 1967, it was a hallmark in Aboriginal history. It was the beginning of the
righting of the wrongs that had been committed against the Australian indigenous population since
the arrival of white settlers. The referendum was the first time that Aboriginal people were fully

The Menzies government in 1965 put forward a bill that would repeal section 127 of the constitution
but would leave section 51 unchanged. Menzies reasoned that 'The words are a protection against
discrimination by the Commonwealth parliament in respect of Aborigines' (John Gardiner–Garden
1997). Both Houses passed the proposed bill but it lapsed as no further action was taken.
A new government took office and in 1967 the new Prime Minister, Harold Holt, announced that his
government intended to reintroduce the 1965 bill but with new amendments. He intended to also
include section 51 as well as section 127. As leader of the opposition, Gough Whitlam supported the
bill, as it would allow the Federal government, for the first time, to assist our indigenous population.
Mr. Holt announced on March 14th 1967 that a referendum would be held after the proposed act
passed through both houses. Within the referendum another question would be asked, the people
would be asked if alterations should be made to numbers in the Senate and the House of
Representatives. The bill was passed and the referendum date was set for 27th of May 1967

An Reflection On The Impression Formation
INTRODUCTION:
Impression is a long lasting image of a person created in our minds which can last long for years.
There are a lot of research done by Solomon Asch (1946), Bruner & Taiguri (1954), Rosenberg,
Nelson & Vivekanathan (1968) to understand Impression Formation. According to Solomon Asch
(1946) at a glance of any person an impression of his personality can instantly form. Even by
looking or talking with that person a whole story about his entire character can be told. These
impressions can be formed quickly and easily which can enhance or distress our opinion on a
person. Our ongoing observations can't be change but we can neglect it. Even it is known that this
process is not perfect but sometimes it can be extremely sensitive. ... Show more content on

There has been different studies that shows that skills of impression management work effectively.
It even helps in creating optimistic first impression of a person but it also cannot be true always. For
example, it's not always necessary that good first impression of a student (intelligent) on the first
day of school would be same, it can vary or change according to his performance in the class.
The question is why there is always different character in a person. And even when they have same
character what make them different from each other. According to Solomon Asch (1946) every
individual have different characteristics. For example, a person can have different characteristics
like he/she is intelligent, energetic, have great sense of humor, is very fast in his work, courageous,
punctual and humble with his fellows. This can create an impression of that person in our mind. A
combination of a person character make an impression of him/her on others. But the main question
asked by Solomon Asch (1946) "We ask: How do the several characteristics function together to
produce an impression of one person? What principles regulate this process?"
According to Asch (1946) the variety and way to which one goes elsewhere form the first
information given by the trait is variable but some traits have much more

Color Imagery In A Red Dress 1946 By Alice Munro
In "A Red Dress 1946", a short story by Alice Munro, uses the significance of color imagery
throughout the story. The color red represents nonconformity, standing out or being unique This is
because of the narrator's unwillingness to be a unique girl. However, the color blue represents
conformity, being able to blend in with society, and the ability to be like everyone else due to the
narrator's lack of courage to be unique and to be herself. Both of these colors point out different
aspects of the narrator's inner self and show how much she desires to hide her unique red self and
appear blue. Color imagery is used throughout the short story, "A Red Dress 1946" in order for the
author to demonstrate the inner thoughts of the narrator. In the short story, "A Red Dress 1946" by
Alice Munro, Color imagery is used for signifying a girls point of view of her world and her own
self by using the color red which represents nonconformity. The narrator has only a slight interest in
being red, but she really wants to be blue, just like everyone else. Munro writes, "When I was asked
a question in class, any simple little question at all...that I had blood on my skirt".(2) The narrator is
just so nervous about being red she is thinking of bad things that can happen with the color red. She
is thinking of all the bad times the color red could do a girl badly, just like a girls period could leak
at any moment. In "A Red Dress 1946", a short story by Alice Munro, she uses Color Imagery to
show the significance of the narrator's view of the color red and all the "Evil" about it.
In a short story by Alice Munro, "A Red Dress 1946", Color Imagery is used to represent the inner
feelings of the narrator and how she wants to be blue. The narrator's dream is to live a blue life, a
life where she is just like everyone else. Munro writes, "when I was unaware of the world's opinion.
Now, grown wiser, I wished for dresses like those my friend Lonnie had, bought at Beale's store"(1).

The Presidential Race Rages On By Donald Trump
As the presidential race rages on, Donald Trump has lashed out against a fellow republican
candidate who was seemingly slated early on as a potential vice president running mate. Instead,
Trump has turned the table on Cruz by running a 30–second commercial ad portraying candidate
Ted Cruz campaign of wrongful practices in his candidacy sweetheart funding, amnesty for illegal
immigrants, and falsely accused the Cruz campaign of starting rumors of Ben Carson suspending his
bid for the White House. With the political race coming to end, candidates will do everything it
takes to gain every vote possible, even if it means destroying another candidate's appearance.
Donald Trump has done so with his accusations against presidential candidate, Senator Ted Cruz.
Trumps commercial, "What Kind of Man," explains how Ted Cruz has not been truthful in his
actions during his campaign and how Cruz "can't be trusTed." Donald Trump states that Cruz had
taken more than a million dollars from Wall Street banks in what people call sweetheart loans and
never disclosed them. A sweetheart loan is a loan with term the normal person seeking a loan would
not get. He was able to achieve this because his wife, Heidi Cruz, was the managing director there at
that time. In Cruz's 2012 Senate campaign, Ted Cruz unsuccessfully disclosed his loan given to him
by the company that his wife works for, Goldman Sachs (Mcintire). That same year Cruz also forgot
to disclose loan given to him by Citibank

Picking Fights over Strangers over Small Indignities:...
In the short story, "King Curtis's Echo", by Max Thayer, the author mostly focuses on his revelation
that in the spirit of self–preservation, picking fights with strangers over small indignities, is a bad
idea and can have fatal consequences. He does not bring to light the other obvious point in his tale:
possessing people skills to begin could have prevented the situation altogether. A little tact, patience,
and forethought would have gone a long way in sparing the author the plethora of indignities that he
ultimately brought upon himself. Approaching the deli patron with a little finesse would clearly
have helped Max Thayer's cause, but it is obvious that he does not possess such character ... Show

If Thayer had thought about what sort of out come he wanted before he left his home perhaps there
wouldn't have been further obscenities exchanged over something as inconsequential as a parking
space. He shows the reader that he is reacting to every little nuance this man projects, "He smirked
when we passed each other." And, "Our eyes met as he smirked again." Thayer is highly reactive, a
loose canon, and since he does not notice this, it leads the reader to believe that he may not notice
more of his own character flaws. Such as, that the author's self–righteousness is preventing him
from being aware that he could be unfairly judging this stranger with his own prejudices. Thayer has
never met this man, yet has made several assumptions about his character based on his physical
appearance, "... fit and full of himself, nonchalantly waved off the appeal and sauntered around the
corner..." Having forethought and social grace could have really helped Thayer's cause, but he never
picks up on this. Stepping back, taking a breath or two, and having patience for other people would
surely have been an asset to this exchange. After he felt antagonized too easily by the man's
response that he, "calm down", he could have taken that for an astute observation and realized that

From The Depths Of The Heavens : United States V Causby, 1946
From the Depths to the Heavens: United States v Causby, 1946 Bill Thompson PO 201A Mitchell
McIntosh September 17, 2015 The Story In 1934, a farmer named Thomas Lee Causby and his
family bought a small farm eight miles west of Greensboro, North Carolina. They raised chickens
on their three acre plot and made a living on the proceeds of the meat and eggs. A third of a mile
away from Causby's farm was an airfield. Linley Field, originally a pasture used by barnstormers,
had opened in 1927. It was used as a mail stop and the home of the first passenger service in the
Triad, until two near–crashes caused it to be ordered closed in 1935. Two years later, it reopened
with two new paved, fixed runways –one of which pointed directly at the Causby's farm. This meant
that less than ten percent of the time, depending on the prevailing winds, the small single or double
engine private planes using the airport would be taking off or landing right over the Causby's heads.
It could be noisy and distracting, but the planes were few and infrequent enough not to cause a great
disturbance to the Causbys or their lives. This changed in June 1, 1942. The US Army Air Corps
assumed control of the airport, leasing its use for the duration of World War II. It became the
Overseas Replacement Depot hub and a training site for fighter and bomber pilots. Use of the
airport exploded: a near constant stream of the military's largest and heaviest planes, bombers, and
fighters were

Polly In Regeneration
Based on things happen in the first half of the novel, here are my predictions of things may happen
on the second half: first, Colin will go back to 1940 and rescue Polly, Mike and Eileen; second,
relationship between Eileen and the vicar will be deepen; third, Mary and Polly are in fact the same
person. First of all, I predict that Colin will go to 1940 and rescue Polly mainly because of a
foreshadowing conversation between Polly and Colin. When Colin tries to convince Polly to accept
his love, he says:
We're absolutely made for each other...... And there's not point of falling in love with someone in
this time because even if you start of at the same age, after a few flashtime assignment you'll be too
old for him. And they can't come rescue ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Polly accidentally changed the history and finds herself trapped in 1940. Mike rescued soldiers that
he should not rescue and can not open his drop site again. Eileen develops a feeling and sympathy
towards the kids and the vicar and finds herself unable to go back to 2060.This is what i meant by
"cause and result" and "Causal Loop". They realize this, that they changed their own fate and that
they have to walk the path themselves even though the path is full of thorns. It is hard for Polly to
face and hide her deadline by herself; it is tough for Eileen to forget about Vicar and the kids and
keep up with hopes; it is hard for Michael to protect his friends even though it is hard enough for
him to even walk with one foot. They overcome all the difficulties, they remain strong and stand
still, they know that they can and they will make up their own fate. This is also what touches me for
the most throughout
.
Franklin D. Roosevelt once said, "Men are not prisoners of fate, but only prisoners of their own
minds." teaches me this profound thought by telling an intricate story between three brave
historians. They suffer, as we do; they overcome, as we do; they share the happiness of success, as
we do. tells something that connect tightly to our daily life, to the true nature of humanity and out
path of life. I highly recommend

The Death Drive Of Notorious : Hitchcock 's 1946 Notorious...
Cheers to Ambiguity: Ambivalence, Intoxication and the Death Drive in Notorious
Hitchcock's 1946 Notorious takes place in the morally ambiguous world of post–World War II
where the questioning of alliances and moralities have reached a breaking point. Alicia, the daughter
of an incarcerated Nazi supporter, finds herself in the midst of a purgatory world stuck in between
love and hate, in other words one of ambivalence. When she is asked to travel to South America to
become close to one of her father's German contacts so that the American Government may gain
valuable information about their upcoming plans she readily accepts in an effort to escape her
destructive tendencies. This state of ambivalence as discussed in Philips "Against Self–Criticism"
entails conflicting feelings of hatred and love for the same individual lead to a world of uncertainty
or irrationality, the death drive, where the lines of morality only continue to be blurred as illustrated
by Alicia, Sebastian her father's contact whom she has wed in order to gain information, his mother,
and Devlin the American Agent whom she has fallen in love with. In other words, intoxication
amidst ambivalence leads to the death drive which is the driving force of the storyline aimed to
showcase the extremes of this desire of self–destruction reinforced by destroying the ones who they
show ambivalence towards. This drive shown in Laplanche and Pontalis' "The Language of Psych–
Analysis" is the desire for self–destruction

The Breakdown and Impact of the 1946 Atomic Energy Act

  • 1. The Breakdown Of The Atomic Energy Act Of 1946 The Atomic Energy Act of 1946 was the spark of the nation's most radical law relating to production, patents and control of information in response to this glooming energy crisis. Public safety becomes the main written priority in the development of the Atomic Energy Act. However, flaws began to emerge within the plan: inconsistencies disturb the private patent investors. This puts the nation's economic stability at risk. There were possible emergences of monopolistic power struggles for "unique" nuclear reactor models and resources. Foiled by their original public interest objective, their secrecy led to possible questions about the Act2. Arthur Walworth's 1946 work, Black Ships Off Japan: The Story of Commodore Perry's Expedition, was released in the immediate aftermath of World War II, near the beginning of the American occupation of Japan. Walworth writes his account of Perry's expedition as objectively as possible given the relatively limited sources available in English at the time. The work goes into considerable detail in describing Perry's 1852–1853 visit, illustrating not only the minutiae of the diplomatic maneuvering, but also the various formalities of leisure events and ceremonies which grew increasingly frustrating to Perry.1 Walworth briefly examines Perry's 1954 return to Japan to accept the Treaty of Kanagawa, discussing delays caused by translation ... A second alternative solution is that the liability would be initially recognized at communication date, December 31, 2005, then adjusted cumulatively over the future service period, December 31, 2005 through the termination date of January 31, 2006. A third alternative solution is that the liability is recognized on the communication date of December 31, 2005. We assume that management would prefer no recognition of a liability; however, if a liability must be recognized management would prefer the liability to be recognized on December 31, 2005, then adjusted as terminated employees sign or do not sign the waivers over the service period. Management would not want to recognize part of the liability in January because this would negatively affect their balance sheet and their current ratio during the first quarter, which could, in turn, affect the company's ability to satisfy contracts or receive loans. In contrast, recognizing the liability at the end of the year would have little to no material impact on the company's ratios or financials since it would be taking into account the entire year versus a few months. The auditors' main concern will be to make certain that the liability is recognized and reported in the proper fiscal year as this liability could be quite large and materially affect financial statements. Women during this time period led movements to gain rights for themselves. The Women's Christian Temperance Union, Flappers, and the Famous Five showed women's strength in society. Women displayed their contributions to Canada as they worked in different industries. Due to the changing roles of women during these years, women's power resulted in the gaining of rights and personhood. The women who were in the working force during this time worked in any industry available. It was very rare to have women working before the first World War, and those who worked did so to provide and support their family. Certain jobs, such as in the government, were not open to women because they were considered to be appropriate for men only. In 1916, conscription was introduced; all able–bodied men were enlisted in the army. This made the need for women workers urgent. Some women went overseas to serve as nurses in the war. If they were not nurses, they were recruited to work in areas that were formerly reserved for men. The majority of women worked in factories to produce weapons. Despite doing the same jobs as men, they were still paid considerably less. In 1917, over four hundred women who worked in munition factories died from overexposure to trinitroluene, a chemical compound that is used in explosive weapons. Their skin turned yellow from this chemical as a result of not being provided with proper safety equipment and clothing. • 30. George Kennan: The Long Telegram of 1946 George Kennan did not make any detailed policy recommendations in the Long Telegram of 1946, although he made it clear that he did not regard the Soviet Union as the same type of threat as Nazi Germany. He opposed the ideas of National Security Council Memorandum 68 (1950) as a hysterical overreaction, and thought that global containment was a serious strategic error, especially in peripheral regions like Indochina. Unlike Hitler, Stalin's aggression and expansion were unplanned and opportunistic, and its leaders did not wish to risk a general war with the West. For this reasons, the Soviets were highly sensitive to the "logic of force" and would retreat if confronted with resolution (Kennan 1946). Internally, it was a police state ruled by a Communist Party oligarchy and bureaucracy, but one that was always insecure in its power. Although Marxism had no real emotional appeal to the masses, the elites were guided by the assumption that the imperialist powers were always attempting to encircle the Soviet Union and that the contradictions within capitalism would always lead to wars. They would attempt to exploit these differences within the capitalist nations, while at the same time attempting to weaken their hold on the colonial areas. Kennan was well aware that the main problem in Western Europe was war–weariness and economic insecurity, and the U.S. would have to take the lead in reviving these countries or the "Russians certainly will" (Kennan 1946). • 31. Red Dress 1946 By Alice Munro Individuality And Conformity In the story Red Dress 1946 by Alice Munro Individuality and Conformity is discussed. Some examples of this is during the story is "there was a carnival atmosphere of brutality in the room at such times, scaring weak and suspect people like me". The reason this is important to the text and idea of the essay is because we often feel left out when we are ourselves. In life, we want to fit in we are made to want this just like the main character in the story she wants a "dress like my friend Lonnie had." Is it implied that she is in a poor finance situation, as many were at that time. The author Alice Munro portrays situational social pressure when the main character gets home from the dance a quote to support this "oppressive obligation I had, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... An example of this is on page nine after the protagonist's dress is make by her mother the quote I will use to describe this is "well nobody ever made me a dress when I was in High School." Reasons why this is important is because this shows the mother's why this is important is because we all feel it at some point and for the lead character this is during the days before the dance. A perfect illustration of family pressure is when the Mother of the friend of Lonnie exclaims, "I doubt if she appreciates it." When we have home pressures some of us do things only to please the people around us an example of the protagonist doing this is when "every morning, including the day of the dance, I woke up in perfect health." This is ample evidence because the narrator shows how she wants a reason to not go to the dance. Another image of family pressure is when the main character is pressured into having the "protection of all female rituals." The reason this is important is because she is trying to hide behind beauty to not show her insecurity to the point where she "looks like a Zulu" with her hair curled. Further proof of family pressure is on page 12 when the mother says "will I wish I could take a picture" "I am really, genuinely proud of that fit. And you might even say thank you for it." The mother pressures her daughter to say a false "thank you" this image is given by Alice Munro to show a teenage sassiness and it gives ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Answer: Correct anatomic tunnel positioning is a key part of ACL reconstruction. In one of a few studies that have been tested, results showed that the variability or standard deviations were on the high side with standard deviations of 3.2mm between the intra and inter observers. • 38. An Reflection On The Impression Formation INTRODUCTION: Impression is a long lasting image of a person created in our minds which can last long for years. There are a lot of research done by Solomon Asch (1946), Bruner & Taiguri (1954), Rosenberg, Nelson & Vivekanathan (1968) to understand Impression Formation. According to Solomon Asch (1946) at a glance of any person an impression of his personality can instantly form. Even by looking or talking with that person a whole story about his entire character can be told. These impressions can be formed quickly and easily which can enhance or distress our opinion on a person. Our ongoing observations can't be change but we can neglect it. Even it is known that this process is not perfect but sometimes it can be extremely sensitive. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... There has been different studies that shows that skills of impression management work effectively. It even helps in creating optimistic first impression of a person but it also cannot be true always. For example, it's not always necessary that good first impression of a student (intelligent) on the first day of school would be same, it can vary or change according to his performance in the class. The question is why there is always different character in a person. And even when they have same character what make them different from each other. According to Solomon Asch (1946) every individual have different characteristics. For example, a person can have different characteristics like he/she is intelligent, energetic, have great sense of humor, is very fast in his work, courageous, punctual and humble with his fellows. This can create an impression of that person in our mind. A combination of a person character make an impression of him/her on others. But the main question asked by Solomon Asch (1946) "We ask: How do the several characteristics function together to produce an impression of one person? What principles regulate this process?" The color red represents nonconformity, standing out or being unique This is because of the narrator's unwillingness to be a unique girl. However, the color blue represents conformity, being able to blend in with society, and the ability to be like everyone else due to the narrator's lack of courage to be unique and to be herself. Both of these colors point out different aspects of the narrator's inner self and show how much she desires to hide her unique red self and appear blue. Color imagery is used throughout the short story, "A Red Dress 1946" in order for the author to demonstrate the inner thoughts of the narrator. In the short story, "A Red Dress 1946" by Alice Munro, Color imagery is used for signifying a girls point of view of her world and her own self by using the color red which represents nonconformity. The narrator has only a slight interest in being red, but she really wants to be blue, just like everyone else. Munro writes, "When I was asked a question in class, any simple little question at all...that I had blood on my skirt".(2) The narrator is just so nervous about being red she is thinking of bad things that can happen with the color red. She is thinking of all the bad times the color red could do a girl badly, just like a girls period could leak at any moment. From The Depths Of The Heavens : United States V Causby, 1946 From the Depths to the Heavens: United States v Causby, 1946 Bill Thompson PO 201A Mitchell McIntosh September 17, 2015 The Story In 1934, a farmer named Thomas Lee Causby and his family bought a small farm eight miles west of Greensboro, North Carolina. They raised chickens on their three acre plot and made a living on the proceeds of the meat and eggs. A third of a mile away from Causby's farm was an airfield. Linley Field, originally a pasture used by barnstormers, had opened in 1927. It was used as a mail stop and the home of the first passenger service in the Triad, until two near–crashes caused it to be ordered closed in 1935. Two years later, it reopened with two new paved, fixed runways –one of which pointed directly at the Causby's farm. This meant that less than ten percent of the time, depending on the prevailing winds, the small single or double engine private planes using the airport would be taking off or landing right over the Causby's heads. It could be noisy and distracting, but the planes were few and infrequent enough not to cause a great disturbance to the Causbys or their lives. This changed in June 1, 1942. The US Army Air Corps assumed control of the airport, leasing its use for the duration of World War II. It became the Overseas Replacement Depot hub and a training site for fighter and bomber pilots. Cheers to Ambiguity: Ambivalence, Intoxication and the Death Drive in Notorious Hitchcock's 1946 Notorious takes place in the morally ambiguous world of post–World War II where the questioning of alliances and moralities have reached a breaking point. Alicia, the daughter of an incarcerated Nazi supporter, finds herself in the midst of a purgatory world stuck in between love and hate, in other words one of ambivalence. When she is asked to travel to South America to become close to one of her father's German contacts so that the American Government may gain valuable information about their upcoming plans she readily accepts in an effort to escape her destructive tendencies. This state of ambivalence as discussed in Philips "Against Self–Criticism" entails conflicting feelings of hatred and love for the same individual lead to a world of uncertainty or irrationality, the death drive, where the lines of morality only continue to be blurred as illustrated by Alicia, Sebastian her father's contact whom she has wed in order to gain information, his mother, and Devlin the American Agent whom she has fallen in love with. In other words, intoxication amidst ambivalence leads to the death drive which is the driving force of the storyline aimed to showcase the extremes of this desire of self–destruction reinforced by destroying the ones who they show ambivalence towards.
