Negligence in Healtcare Law
MBA 5101 Unit 1 Case Study Gary Campbell Our text defines a tort as a civil wrong and
negligence as a tort, a civil or personal wrong (Pozgar, 2012). Negligence as it is related to
healthcare is an unintentional commission or omission of an act that a reasonably prudent
person or organization would or would not do under normal circumstances. Not following a
recognized standard of care could be considered negligence. The case I have chosen to study is
one from the Circuit Court of Baltimore City Maryland and is that of Enso Martinez a minor by
and through his parent (Rebecca Fielding) vs The Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore Maryland
July 2013. I would describe this as a landmark, David vs Goliath case... Show more content on

Meaning the baby s head was down; however, unlike the usual presentation, he was facing
forward instead of inward, toward Ms. Fielding s spine. At 12:30 a.m., Midwife Muhlhan
attempted to expedite delivery while at Fielding s home. First, Midwife Muhlhan applied fundal
pressure to Ms. Fielding two or three times. Second, Midwife Muhlhan injected Fielding multiple
times with Pitocin, a hormone that increases the strength and frequency of contractions. Third,
misjudging the state of her labor, Ms. Muhlhan performed an episiotomy, which is a procedure
performed upon immediate delivery in which the perineum is cut in order to enlarge the vaginal
opening. Finally, Ms. Muhlhan directed Fielding to cleanse herself with a probiotic treatment, as
an alternative to taking antibiotics, in order to prevent the potentially fatal transmission of Group
B streptococcus bacteria (for which she had tested positive), to the baby during labor and
delivery. After providing these treatments, Midwife Muhlhan decided it was time to go to the
hospital. Midwife Muhlhan sutured the episiotomy and called an ambulance. Rebecca Fielding
arrived at the Hospital at 3:30 a.m. on March 26, 2010. Fielding was an unknown patient to the
Hospital and was socioeconomically challenged. The Hospital s labor and delivery team evaluated
Fielding s status and determined the best way to deliver her baby. The team also applied a fetal
heart rate monitor. The medical records

Essay On Interventionism
Why is Interventionism Failing?
From a decade in Red Vietnam to a decade in Terrorist Iraq, Post WWII America consistently has
forced its involvement into conflicts, claiming to be defending human rights and democracy. The
problem is that the Red Scare had been brainwashing Americans into associating Communism with
people who were bent on world domination. America was only viewed as the enemy by the
Communists because we insisted on being so. Furthermore, we face a similar problem against those
who believe in terrorist causes. Not all nations are equally targeted, but by our reactions alone, the
United States has managed to become the primary target. Decades ago, we forgot that Communism,
while dangerous to democracy, does not have to be ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For example, it seems obvious in hindsight that we had to fight the Axis Powers to defend the
world from Nazism. However, Bill Keller, former executive editor of the New York Times,
points out that at the time there were serious debates that had strong points for both side in his
New York Times article, Our New Isolationism . If it were not for Pearl Harbor, there is a very
real possibility America would never have sent its military forces to the war. To fight for any one
side is to be ignorant of the alternatives, some of which may be better overall and to commit to one
side often has the consequence of alienating other peoples, leading to complicated possibilities of
being enemies with a nation that would otherwise be an

How Did Civilization Influence The Aztec Civilization
The panic in the eyes of the Aztec emperor s victim escalated hastily, making nothing
comprehensible and fearing what the life ahead of him has in store. Taking advantage of each
element of the human body, the most important reason for sacrificing humans was donating the
blood of the victim to one of the gods. The Aztecs utilized every resource and every part of the
resource available to them to make them a proficient and accomplished civilization. The Aztec
civilization adapted their way of life in Mesoamericato become a notorious culture; from their
advanced rituals and authority they continue their legacy to today. The Aztec culture had a large
and complex justice system, some parts still used today, that helped them become the advanced...

The Aztecs settled on marshy land which over time led to crop failure. To fix this, Aztec
engineers had to come up with an idea that would let them have success with their crops on the
marshy land. They came up with floating gardens that floated over the water and utilized the,
otherwise worthless, marshy land. As Lin Donn explains, the rafts were anchored to the bottom
of the lake, or to a strong tree in the marsh. The gardens were used to grow chili peppers, corn,
tomatoes, beans, and squash (Donn). The floating gardens allowed the Aztec civilization to
expand tremendously and accomplish more with the help of this new invention. In addition, they
also created a calendar based on the sun, as we still do today. Miguel Leon Portilla states, they
had an accurate calendar of years and months based on a complex of days and hours (Leon
Portilla, 28). The Aztecs had two calendars, however the three hundred sixty five day was the one
used most and was the most common in the society. All in all the Aztecs were advanced in their
math and science which helped them to prosper as a civilization. That then helped them develop
good relationships with other cultures, helping with their trade and

The Federal Trade Commission Act
In 1890, the United States Congress passed the first Anti Trust Law, called the Sherman Act, in an
attempt to combat anti trusts and as a comprehensive charter of economic liberty aimed at
preserving free and unfettered competition as the rule of trade. (The Antitrust Laws). Twenty four
years later in 1914, Congress passed two more Anti TrustLaws: the Federal Trade Commission Act,
which created the Federal Trade Commission whose aim is to protect American consumers, and the
Clayton act, which fills in any loopholes in the Sherman Act. Ultimately, these three Anti Trust Acts
regulate three core problems within the market: restricting the creation of cartels, restricting the
mergers and acquisitions of organizations which could substantially lessen competition , and
prohibit the creation of monopolies in the market ( The Antitrust Laws ).
The history of the antitrust laws date back to the late nineteenth century, following the end of the
Civil War. This time, known as the Gilded Era, began when entrepreneurs began searching for big
profits from their business ideas. Over time, the small business ideas turned into massive
corporations. The creation of new ideas and a radical shift towards industrialism led to the Industrial
Revolution. Amongst the most powerful corporations during this time were the four that still exist
today: John D Rockefeller s Standard Oil Company, Andrew Carnegie s Carnegie Steel, Cornelius
Vanderbilt s New York Central Railroad System, and J.P.

The receiving overhead rate is
Total receiving overheads
Total number of receipts ВЈ900,000
820
ВЈ1,097.56 per receipt
Using this rate as a constant allows us to evaluate the product overhead apportionments: overheads
per receipt x receipts per product group
For product A:
ВЈ1,097.56 per receipt x 50 receipts
ВЈ54,878
Product A B C
Receiving overheads apportionment ВЈ54,787.0 ВЈ76,829.3 ВЈ768,292.7
We then divide these product apportionments by the number of units made for each product, to
derive the cost per unit for receiving goods. The calculations here give the following results:
Product A B C
Receiving cost per unit ВЈ0.60976 ВЈ2.5610 ВЈ51.2195
Notice, when compared with Drury s method of using the overhead rate as a percentage of direct
materials cost, the version presented here gives a radically different result. Had we applied Drury s
method, the product receiving cost per unit would have been:
Overhead absorption rate:
ВЈ900,000 x 100 = 21.82%
= ВЈ4,125,000
Applying this rate to each product s material costs gives:
Product
A B C
ВЈ6.55 8.73 3.27
The method we have used applies the full spirit of ABC by identifying and using fully the ABC
approach. The other overhead rate, the Machine Hour Rate, is ВЈ3.79. This is calculated by
dividing the total other overheads by the number of machine hours applied, or worked. In

Okonkwo Bad Father

Things Fall Apart: Effects of Bad Parenting Fathers play an influential role in the lives of their
children by shaping their personalities. This is evident in the characters Unoka, Okonkwo, and
Nwoye who are grandfather, father, and son respectively. The fathers, Unoka and Okonkwo, create
opposing personalities in their sons. In Things Fall Apart, the father son relationships throughout
three generations influence Okonkwo and Nwoye to differentiate from their fathers. Unoka
symbolizes failure in Okonkwo s perspective, causing Okonkwo to strive to differentiate from him.

Nwoye is born lazy and feminine which causes his father to feel worried about [him]...I have
done my best to make Nwoye grow into a man, but there is too much of his mother in him
(Achebe 66). Okonkwo sees Nwoye as weak and not masculine, encouraging him to seek to solve
this. Okonkwo solves this by correcting him by constant naggings and beating (Achebe 13).
Okonkwo attempts to make Nwoye become more masculine but these actions are counterintuitive.
It makes Nwoye, seeking acceptance, turn to Christianity. According to the critic Solomon
Iyasere, The boy seeks his father s love and understanding, but Okonkwo is incapable of
responding to these basic human needs; he considered them unmanly and effeminate. When
Okonkwo is confronted by the failure of his own rigid code as Nwoye turns to Christianity for
love and succor (Iyasere 1). Nwoye seeks love and acceptance and Okonkwo doesn t realize this.
His unacceptance causes Nwoye to turn to Christianity to praise his lack of masculinity. Nwoye

The Reginald Chase Case Of Not Guilty
My initial vote in the Reginald Chase case was of not guilty. According to my perception, the
evidence presented was not enough to convict him of murder. Vast majority of the group A
members were inclined to acquit Chase for the same reason. The deliberation turned out interesting
and somehow tense when one of the jurors decided to vote guilty. Although many group members
tried to make him reflect on his decision presenting strong arguments, this seemed to irritate him
and cling to his decision. However, the votes and arguments of the majority reinforced my final
decision of not guilty. Researchers have found that in real life, it is often seen that the majority of
jurors can make change the mind of the minority. However, it has also been

Persuasive Essay On Lacrosse
A high intensity game that involves physical attributes and cognitive awareness describes the
sport lacrosse. People play lacrosse all over the world and the sport continues to grow in size. The
sport lacrosse dates all the way back to when Indians would play for land and resources. The word
lacrosse translates to Little Brother of War . Men and women of all ages and levels playthe game
lacrosseto this day. At the Eastern Cincinnati Conference in Cincinnati, Ohio, the sport lacrosse
qualifies as a club rather than a sport. The sport lacrosse should qualify as a sport because it would
reduce costs, more players would join, it offers benefits, and people would consider lacrosse as a
more serious sport.
In the Eastern Cincinnati Conference, male and female high schoolers who have an interest in
playing the sport lacrosse, have an expensive bill to pay. The cost to have a spot on the team
alone estimates to about 300 dollars. The cost covers renting the field, transportation, and the
use of the weight room. Due to the fact that lacrosse does not fall under the category of
qualifying as a sport, players are charged more money to cover the fees that the school does not
cover. On top of the 300 dollars, a requirement for all players involves the purchasing of equipment
for playing. Players are required to acquire a stick, a mouthguard, a pair of cleats, spandex, and an
eyepiece. Purchasing a stick alone ranges from 50 dollars to close to 300 hundred dollars. Since the

Sexual Innuendoes in the Films of Alfred Hitchcock Essay...
Sexual Innuendoes in the Films of Alfred Hitchcock
When watching an Alfred Hitchcock movie, have you ever found yourself sympathizing with a
deceptive seductress or a soon to be sex offender? If so, you may have felt guilt from watching
such sexual innuendoes, but don t feel too bad. This is just one of the intents of Alfred Hitchcock as
he weaves many of his tales with sensual characters. His films portray a vast array of sexuality
from showing a battle of the sexes and tales of romance to showing homosexuals and sex offenders.
Overall, the films of Alfred Hitchcock portray varying degrees of sexuality, which is manifested
both romantically and perversely. The sexuality is one of the aspects of Hitchcock s films that adds

Fourth, Robin Wood tells us, A Hitchcock film is an organism, with the whole implied in every
detail and every detail related to the whole (Boyd 6). Through these four aspects, we can see that
Hitchcock typically opts to show unsettling scenarios that can be seen as much in the intricacies of
the film as in the entire premise. So, this sets the stage so that we, the audience, may know to look
deeper into his films than just what is portrayed on the surface.
The evolution of Hitchcock s ideas on sexuality came from his schooling and progressed
throughout his film career. From looking into his schooling, I have found evidence that
Hitchcock had received mixed messages. In the Jesuit school where he studied, he learned,
women were at least a distraction, often a temptation, and in some cases dangerous (Hurley 219).
However, he also retained many moral ideas including some awareness of sex and love as having
divine origins (222). These two notions intrigued Hitchcock to begin exploring the sexual side of
humanity within his films. Before he even began his career, one can see that the film that emerged
during the last of his schooling became even more sexually overt (219).
Through the beginning of his career, Hitchcock avoided depicting overt sexual overtones. In the
1950 s, Hitchcock clung to his themes which included, the coy sexuality (Silet). However,

The Role Of Government In George Orwell s 1984
Oceania s government is known as the Party. The Party controls every aspect of the citizens lives.
They do not have privacy in their own homes, because the telescreens are constantly being
monitored by the Thought Police. Citizens live in fear of committing a thoughtcrime or a
facecrime, and being taken during the night. Once the citizens are taken, they are erased from
records as if they never existed. The novel 1984 by George Orwellis about governmentand reveals
the Party controls natural tendencies and the past of Oceania s citizens. In 1984, a citizen can be
charged for a thoughtcrime. A thoughtcrime is considered having a thought that goes against the
Party s policies. For instance Winston thinks, Whether he wrote DOWN WITH BIG BROTHER,
or whether he refrained from writing it, made no difference ( Orwell 19). Winston knows the

who feel no attraction to each other. The only purpose of their marriage would be to beget
children for the service of the Party. For example Winston speaks of his wife and how rigid she

not produce children. Although, the Party did not allow divorce, they encouraged separation if the
two could not have children. The two eventually parted, and Winston believes she is in a labor camp

Flaws Of The Islamic Religion
Flaws In The Islamic Religion By Kyle Lindsey
Apologetics, Mr. Sweis
July 2015
Part 1: Thesis In 1900, the world was made up of 12.3 % Muslims. In 2010, The number rose to
22.5% making Islam the fastest growing religion in the entire world, exceeding even the growth
rate of Christianity. The American MuslimCouncil has estimated that there are 2,000 mosques and
Islamic community centers in the United States. More than 80% percent have been built in the past
12 years.
Is it possible then that Islam, such an attractive and fast growing religion, can be completely
flawed? Yes, the religion of Islam is filled with historical, scientific, and most importantly spiritual
flaws. Answering this question is important because people are becoming more and more blind to
the truth of the Christian religion by the rapid growth of Islam. Outlining the flaws of Islam also
helps to bring out the accuracy of the Christian religion.
How is it possible that Islam, the fastest growing religion, is so full of errors? Islam is growing
so rapidly because many of its followers are unaware of the extent of its corruption, and many of
its followers are equally unaware of how many errors can be found throughout the Quran. One
way to show people the flaws in Islam is by slowly picking it apart and in so doing, the person is
able to more clearly see the errors and parts of the Quran that do not match up with facts of history

Social Presence Theory Paper
The rise of technology and, consequently, social network sites have popularized a new method of
socialization known as computer mediated communication (CMC) communication between two
or more people that occurs and is contained on electronic devices. With this phenomenon
spawned several theories that researchers have been trying to answer, including the social
presence theory. This theory examines how CMC replaces physical face to face interaction and
the consequences of this communicative exchange. CMC allows a variety of communicative
mediums which each have their own level of physical salience, or social presence. For instance,
video messaging a friend may seem more personal than text messaging because video message
allows the message sender to actually see and hear the receiver s voice. This makes it easier to
notice and pick up on the emotions, expressions, and nonverbal cues during the conversation. The
social presence theory argues that CMC with higher feelings of social presence will be more
personal and intimate whereas CMC with lower feelings social presence are considered detached

My Long-Term Aerobic Goal
Over the term of the semester, I was able to fully achieve my fitness goals (and then some), due
to a well structured workout plan, persistence and continued exercise throughout the semester,
and reasonable goals. Due to this I was able to significantly improve my cardio and core strength.
My long term aerobic goal was to be able to run the 1.5 mile benchmark run in 9 minutes and 30
seconds, a 3 minute improvement over my initial 11:48 that I tested at initially. I thought this was a
reasonable goal over the course of 1 semester given a consistent amount of practice. I met this goal
about Вѕ into the semester and was able to consistently run the 1.5 miles every workout session
in about 9:10. My aerobic workout schedule consisted of going outside and running the 1.5 mile
course every session, pushing myself to my limits every time and thus incrementally improving
my time. I found tht the most difficult aspect was to master my own self effort, as my own
internal effort seemed to make the difference between a terrible time and a fantastic, fast, run.

The Legacy Of Ralph Dale Earnhardt
Ralph Dale Earnhardt, better known as Dale Earnhardt, was born to Martha Coleman and Ralph
Earnhardt on April 29, 1951. Ralph did not want to race like he did, but Dale ignored him
anyway and dropped out of high school to race. Ralph was very hard on Dale and when Ralph
died of a heart attack in 1973 it took a long time for Dale to believe that he had proven himself to
his dad. Dale had four siblings two sisters, Cathy and Kaye, and two brothers Dandy and Randy.
Dale married his first wife, Latone Brown, in 1968 at the age of seventeen. In 1969, with Latone,
Dale had his first son, Kerry Earnhardt. Latone and Dale were divorced in 1970. Dale married his

Bond pricing and sensitivity of bond pricing to interest rate changes Duration analysis
What is duration? What determines duration?

Interest Rate Risk
There is an inverse relationship between interest rates (yields) and price of the bonds. The changes
in interest rates cause capital gains or losses. This makes fixed income investments risky.

Convexity (Continued)
The duration rule is a good approximation for small changes in bond yields. The duration
approximation always understates the value of the bond.
It underestimates the increase in price when yields fall. It overestimates the decline in prices when
yields rise. Due to the curvature of the true price yield relationshipconvexity
16 17
Convexity (Continued)
Convexity is the rate of change of the slope of the price yield curve, expressed as a fraction of the
bond price.
Higher convexity refers to higher curvature in the price yield relationship. The convexity of
noncallable bonds are usually positive. The slope of the cuve that shows the price yield relation
increases at higher yields.

Convexity (Continued)
We can improve the duration approximation for bond price changes by taking into account for
convexity. The new equation becomes:

The convexity becomes more important when potential interest rate changes are larger.

Why convexity is important? In the figure bond A is more convex than bond B. The price
increases are more in A when interest rates fall. The price decreases are less in A when interest
rates rise.

For example, copper is a good heat conductor whereas stainless steel is not. So we should consider
the heat conduction capacity of the cookware set.
Price Price of the cookware set which we are buying is the most important determining factor. The
rule of thumb with cookware is to buy the best you can afford.
Handles and lids We should examine handles and lids and make sure that they are solid and
durable. They must provide secure and easy grip so as to work in a comfortable manner.
Cool touch Handles should be equipped with a quality of remaining cool so that buyers can easily
work with the pots and pans.
Durability Some types of cookware will maintain their good looks and last longer than others.
Stainless steel is known to be one of the best in this respect that even after so much extensive use
these products maintain their durability.
Thickness The pots and pans must have the minimum required thickness. For aluminum core metal
cookware, a thickness between 3.0 mm to 5.0 mm is considered ideal for even heat distribution.
Reactivity Some metals react with certain foods. So while buying a cookware set we should make
sure that it should not contain any chemicals or metallic compounds which makes our food

Neuroblastoma Case
Neuroblastoma is the most common solid extracranial cancer in children under the age of five.
Mainly a neuroendocrine cancer, neuroblastoma is prevalently found in neuronal tissue of the
adrenal glands as well as the ganglia in the spine. It is believed that neuroblastoma arises from
neuronal crest cells; immature cells that branch off the neural tube in embryonic development
(Roberts et al., 1998). Though 98% of all neuroblastoma cases are sporadic, there is a small
percentage of the cancer that is inheritable. One of the genes believed to contribute to familial
neuroblastoma is MYCN. MYCN, which encodes a transcription factor, is observed to be
duplicated multiple times through out the genome of neuroblastoma cells, both familial and
sporadic.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The MYCN gene is located on the short arm of chromosome 2, which therefore suggests that
possible gene duplications may predominately be present throughout the short arm. Though when
the chromosomes of neuroblastoma cells were stained to look for gene duplications, none of the
extra duplications were present on chromosome 2 (Kohl et al, 1983). The duplicated copies of
MYCN were found to not be present on certain chromosomes, but rather dispersed unevenly
throughout the genome (Kohl et al, 1983). Gene duplications in this case can arise from many
mechanisms, like nondisjunction, or the unequal crossing over during meiosis 1 between tow
misaligned homologues chromatids. This increase duplication of the MYCN gene was found in
no other cancer besides retinoblastoma (Kohl et al, 1984). Due to MYCN duplication being
present mainly in neuroblastoma cells, MYCN duplication is used as a biomarker to determine if
the cancer is aggressive and will respond to

to fall for Gianciotto s younger brother, Paolo. One day, Paolo and I sat reading from a book when

Analysis Of What s Going In By Marvin Gaye
Marvin Gaye composed What s Going In , along with fellow Motown songwriters, Al Cleveland
and Renaldo Obie B Jenson. This song was released May 21, 1971 by Motown Records. Gaye
was overwhelmed by the stories his brother, Frankie Gaye, was telling him about the tragedies he
witnessed while serving in the Vietnam War. His song was more of questioning why these
tragedies were occurring and basically stating we should love more and battle less. Gaye s lyrics
proclaim, picket lines picket signs, don t punish me with brutality, which is the American people
protesting the Vietnam War and being against U.S. involvement in this war. Gaye feels as though
we need more love and less war to solve this issue. He is seeking peace and happiness for all
mankind.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When Gaye states, brother, brother, brother there s far too many of you dying. You know you
ve got to find a way, to bring some lovin here today. This creates an emotion not only for Gaye,
but for his listeners too. He is showing that he is upset for the lives lost in the Vietnam war.
During this time, clearly several issues occurred in Gaye s life. From the tragedies that happened
while his brother was in the Vietnam war and the American people protesting on the war, these
were two significant issues he experienced. When Gaye states, picket lines, and picket signs/don t
punish me with brutality this shows a type of emotion, because he witnesses the police officers
that are physically assaulting, and throwing tear gas at anti war protestors. Gaye also shows anger
in the song because he is showing ways to reflect on the stories told to him by his brother, Frankie
Gaye. Frankie was a Vietnam war

The Security Of Information Security
This document is only a brief synopsis of the ever expanding and demanding field of information
security. It contains explanations, screenshots or visual cues, and tips on multiple subjects such as
system defenses, reducing vulnerabilities, and the presence of malicious threats. Smaller areas, such
as vulnerability assessment and penetration testing, are also covered because they are very
significant in the securityof information. While vulnerability assessment is a necessity, penetration
testing is purely an option to the security engineer.
What is Information Security ?
Information security is often defined as the security or assurance of information and it requires the
ability to maintain the authenticity of the information. The three common components of
information security are confidentiality, integrity, and availability and they form an essential base
for the overall picture of information security. Confidentiality is perhaps one of the most common
aspects of information security because any information that is withheld from the public within the
intentions to only allow access to authorized individuals is confidential. Encryption is often used to
maintain the confidentiality of information as encryption is one of multiple methods of access
control and Microsoft BitLocker is an example of access control encryption feature. Although
TrueCrypt is no longer a secure method of protecting data, I will discuss it further in the

Social Medi The Truth
Social Media The Truth Social Media is a hotly debated topic in modern times. On one side,
people say that it can help spread information quickly, or help catch criminals, but on the other,
people often claim that they can be dangerous and that they lack privacy. The truth of the matter
is, Social Networks should be banned, especially for children. Social Media destroys the basic
human ability to interact with others. This is supported by the quote, Communication is
constantly evolving. Some people are as used to seeing their friends online avatar as they are their
face, said Yazino founder Hussein Chahine in The Telegraph. This shows how addicted people

Future generations, this one included, will only spend more and more time on sites like these.
Some people would say that Social Media helps catch and prosecute criminals, but the few times
in which this does happen is heavily outweighed by the amount of privacy of which they lack,
and the fact that they often expose users to government and corporate intrusions. A 2012 survey
found that 13 million Facebook users said that they had not set or known about the site s privacy
settings, and another 28% shared all, or nearly all, of their posts publicly. Facebook is infamous
for its lack of security, how it forces users to stay on and use their site and secretly tracks them.
They often make privacy settings hard to find. Most, if not all, of their users would rather keep
their info private, but Facebook and other Social Networking sites often make that a hard thing to
do. Another report declared that the US Justice Department intercepted 1,661 pieces of
information from social networking sites and emails in 2011. With many social media sites being
money focused, they often sell their user s information to shady organizations. These sites expose
their users too much and too often. This is further supported by the fact that the 2009 IRS training
manual teaches agents to scan Facebook pages for information that might assist in resolving a
taxpayer case. Organizations such as this one now even promote social media stalking . It s
immensely difficult to stay and feel safe on

Daniel Durkheim s Suicide As A Social Matter, Rather Than...
Veteran suicide rising
Emile Durkheim sought to examine the phenomena that is suicide as a social matter, rather than as
an individual act. In his pursuit to distinguish sociology as a field of its own, he employed the
methods of the natural sciences to the social sciences, with the intent of setting sociology as a
distinct field from psychology. His work remains prevalent and can be used to explain suicide
that occurs in today s time. Dave Philipps article, In unit stalked by suicide, Veterans try to save
one another he highlights the suicide that continues to take place within veterans, upon their
return from war. It is through the work of Durkheim that members of society are able to gain an
insight at the forces that are at play and drive an individual to such predicaments. Throughout the
article the major forces that are at play in regards to veterans committing suicide are distinct
social solidarity as a result of their specialized work, as well as anomie from a lack of moral
regulation, and finally egoistic suicide from a lack of integrating veteran individuals into society.
Dave Philipps article, In unit stalked by suicide, Veterans try to save one another focuses on veteran
members of the Marine Corps, self named the forgotten battalion. It details the lives of different
members after they have served, as they deal with the suicides that continue to plague members of
their battalion. One of those members Manny Bojorquez details his own struggle with suicide, and

Spring Break In Alabama
In the early morning of April 7th, 2015, my grandparents, parents, brother, and I awoke groggy,

decided to admire the many restaurants and shops. After my grandparents arrived, we had a
dinner of amazing, juicy burgers. Next we moved on to explore the beach. The sand was cool,
and the small, sharp seashells stabbed at your feet as you walked. We watched the beautiful
image of the sun sinking into the pink and orange sky as we felt and smelled the cold salt water
against our feet. The next day, April 8th, my parents and I woke around 8 a.m. to get ready for
our 3 mile run. After running, we spent a couple hours at the beach in the warm sun and chilly
breeze. A little while later after having relaxed in the cool air conditioned condo, we got dressed
up for dinner at a fancy seafood restaurant in town. On our way there, a group of girls in the car
behind us were yelling out the window at their friends and rammed into the back of my grandpa
s truck. My grandpa was upset, so we didn t make it to the restaurant until around two hours later.
For dinner, I ordered a steak, and it was mouthwateringly juicy. When we arrived back to our cozy
condo my grandparents went up to the rooms and my family and I went out to the beach. My mom

The Between Dance And The Self
Within Fish Tank, performance serves a multitude of functions. For one, characters in the film
define themselves in relation to dance, and performance as a whole is presented as an outlet and a
means to attain freedom. Yet, the relationship between dance and the self is also antithetical as,
whilst individual characters escape social definition through the act of dance, the act itself defines
them. This can be seen especially in relation to the female identity that is imposed with sexual
objectivity through dance. However, dance also operates in a figurative sense, Mia, dances with the
idea of reinvention, escape and of learning the steps to life. Overall, dance is presented as being
highly important to the exploration and attainment... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, Mia s lack of talent for dancing establishes a sense of futility regarding her escape.
Nonetheless, Mia s desire to dance reflects her broad desire to express herself creatively.
Mia s desire to escape social constraint is further revealed through her attempt to connect to the
Black American culture. Mia s dance moves and music choices create an interesting dynamic to
her self expression, for example, Mia s burgeoning connection to Connor is revealed through her
choice to dance to his favourite song. Further, as Mia dances in front of the television in her
kitchen, she does so to an African American pop song, featuring street dance (0.13.19). Mia s
copying of the dance moves is emblematic of her attempt to re construct and re define her identity.
The..cultural..messages..that..she..receives from the television, dance and music therefore, are
presented as being key in Mia s process of self discovery. Connor s comment You dance like a
black is intended as a compliment, yet reveals further Mia s attempt to construct her identity out of
cultural fragments. Broadly, through dance, and performing aspects of African American street
culture, Mia s powerful desire to escape societal constraint is made apparent. Mia s attempt to
connect with a world different to her own, is emblematic of Mia s attempt to seek freedom.
Whilst allowing Mia to escape, dance allows Mia to reconcile the conflict within her life,
particularly in her family

Introduction
In this experiment, we observed the pollination of various plants by various pollinators in the
Binghamton University Nature Preserve. We collected data by observing various plants by the
pond trail area of the nature preserve and attempted to explain why some plants were structurally
more attractive to pollinators than other plants. While observing a variety of plants, it became clear
that the Goldenrod Plant and the Aster plant were the most attractive. This conclusion was drawn
because they attracted the most pollinators. In fact, data collected of the other ... Show more content

The Chicory was pollinated by a total of 18 pollinators (8 Wasps, 2 Bumble Bees, 8 Honeybees).
The Knapweed was pollinated by a total of 8 pollinators (6 Bumble Bees, 2 Butterflies).
As discussed before, in order to study the structural attractiveness of a plant it needed to be
considered significant or have at least 30 points of pollinator data. The above bar graph displays
the only two observed plants that had 30 points of pollinator data over the course of the three
days. The Goldenrod plant had 35 points of data and the Aster plant had 42 points of data, making
them both significant enough to study further. Previous work by Koch classified both these plants
as Composite Flowers (1930). Given their similar internal structures, we would focus on a
difference in flower length, an external structure, to explain the differences in pollinator visitations.
Previous work by Gross Werner has shown the average flower length of Goldenrod plants to be Вѕ
of an inch (1983). Previous work by Harder has shown the average flower length of Aster plants to

In the area of acute care, physical therapy is provided to patients who are admitted to a hospital for

Chronic Myeloid Leukemia ( Leukemia )
Abstract
There are many types of leukemia that affect thousands of people each year and many do not
survive this type of cancer. Yearly occurrences of new cases reach up to about 54,000 and almost
half of this staggering number end fatally. The four types that are most common for this cancer are
acute myeloid leukemia (AML), chronic myeloid leukemia (CML), acute lymphocytic leukemia
(ALL), and chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL).
Leukemia is a cancer of the blood cells where abnormally high counts of white blood cells are
produced in the bone marrow. These are the primary cells in the body that fight infection but when
they are abnormal as in this case, they cannot be an effective defense mechanism. In their normal
routines of fighting infection, controlling bleeding, and transport of oxygen, the normal functions
of the body begin to break down often leading to fatality.
The cancer of the body s blood forming tissue can be acute, with a rapid onset of symptoms and
be very aggressive in nature. Chronic leukemias are a slow developing cancer and the symptoms
may not be detectable once they have begun to develop in the system. Leukemia has many
different forms where some are more common in children and others in more prevalent in adults.
This cancer affects thousands of people yearly with an estimated number of new cases reaching
approximately 54,000. The symptoms can vary depending on how fast the disease proliferates in
the body. The cancer is treated and

Essay on Technology and Employment in the United States
Technology is used throughout the United States, whether it is good or a bad thing we all have
our own point of view. Technology may be easier and faster, but reduces the employment rate,
makes Americans to less likely find a job, unemployment rates go down with technology but
makes education not worth it, and makes American s anti social when it comes to the social work
force. Technology does have their pros to it, but it can only go so far without needing a person s
help. Technology can help the productivity go up. Technology can produce more products to the
employers, and can work faster than average American s. Many employers that choose technology
want to increase their sales and outcome on a product, or company, such as airlines... Show more

social world, with ATM machines, self checkout, and auto ticket machines. With technology
removing the social part of human contact it motivation Albertson s decision last year to take all
of the self checkout lanes out of its stores: an eerie lack of human contact (Melissa Nilles). When
businesses only contact electronically it takes out the personal matter and makes it less
physical and anti social. Whether it is bagging groceries or scanning tickets people are still in
contact with other people and are still employed. There are over three billion people in America
and only 2.68 million people have jobs. With the use of technology and replacing employers
with computers it leaves Americans without a job. Capitalism has turned these technological
marvels into so many means of destroying jobs (Socialist Labor Party). It increases the
exploitation of human labor and gaining more profit. Labor technology is becoming more
evident even in our everyday lives, such as Clerks at a grocery checkout lanes are being replaced
with self check out. Bank tellers are being replaced with ATM machines, and Ticket agents at an
airport are being replaced with automated airline kiosks. (The New York Times) These may be a
faster way of handling situations and make Americans happier by not waiting, but it leaves

Chase Vs. Danielson
1.Evaluate this potential venture and the progress Chase has made.
Zipcar idea has begun in 1999, while Anje Danielson returned from her Europe trip and bring the
Car Sharing business and share it with Robin Chase. When the two cofounders started working on
the business concept and business plan, they looked at all aspects of market and checked if there
is place for them in the market. Based on their market analysis they found out that the concept of
car sharing is a niche in the US market and rental car services had not thought of this niche yet.
Based on their primary research urban locations could give them large number of potential users.
Because, in urban locations parking is expensive, public transportation is available, and people ...

They needed to build the technology, continue to search for potential investors, name the venture,
do marketing, and build their management team. It took lots of time for Chase to design the
business model for Zipcar and come up with a pricing structure (Table 2). But, soon after launching
the business Chase realized that the cost is higher than what they estimated in the beginning so she
changes the business model cost estimation (Table 2). It shows that business in practice is different
than what we estimate before start and we should be fixable to change our business model anytime
we see the need for.
What actions should Chase take as a result of the September operating results?
Chase has made a huge a development in this new venture. She has almost single handedly
developed the business model, secured funding, planed for marketing, and took care of the daily
operations. She did not have any experience in automotive business and alone she was not able to
bring this business to its full potential. In order to expand her business Chase should do following
studies.

The Lesson By Toni Bambara Analysis
If you live in America your life should be better, fuller and richer for everyone, but if you belong
in the working class or the poor class, this might still be impossible. You might be able to have a
job, a place to live, but you will not be able to have all the other resources the upper class has. For
example, time off from work, vacations, education, or even afford you own house, this might be the
biggest struggles for working families. This paper will examine how minorities in, The Lesson and
Volar deal with the difficult effects of socioeconomic class.
In Volar, Judith Cofer presents us with the image of the little girl dreaming about changing her
appearance. The little girl being part of a hispanic family and a working class, ... Show more content

In the field trip to Fifth Avenue toy store, Miss Moore tries to teach the kids a lesson about social
class difference, which seems as the kids should be aware of the difference between upper class
and their current working class. As the story goes we get a better understanding that the kids are
not aware of how different poor and rich people are, Thirty five dollars and the whole household
could visit Grandaddy Nelson in the country. Thirty five dollars would pay for the rent and the
piano bill too. Who are these people that spend that much for performing clowns and $1,000 for
toy sailboats? What kinda work they do and how they live and how come we ain t in on it?
Where we are is who we are, Miss Moore always pointing out (150). The kids experience how
different life is for kids who live in the upper social class. Also, they realize how kids in the
upper social class are able to ask their parents for expensive toys, in which for poor kids this
money can pay so many of their bills. Silvia and the kids realize the sense of inequality of poor
kids and rich kids, ann this bothers Silvia, possibly the kid group leader, to the point of madness,
where she wants to punch someone. Now, SIlvia understands that being poor is difficult and they
come up with life strategies to stretch their dollars bills, while the wealthy can spend hundreds of

Cvs Caremark Strategic Analysis Essay
CVS Caremark: A Case Analysis
Current Situation
CVS Pharmacy is the retail division of CVS Caremark. It is also one of the largest Pharmacy Retail
Chains in the country and operates more than 7,400 stores domestically. Although the retail
pharmaceutical division of this corporation accounts for a significant amount of this company s
success, CVS Caremark focuses more on its corporate strategy to compete with other industry
rivals such as Walgreens and Rite Aid. Considering CVS Caremark is the result of the 2007 merger
of CVS and Caremark Rx, this analysis will begin with a brief history and the merger of these
corporations, its current performance, strategic posture, and the strategic managers of this
organization.
History
According ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
According to Rusli, the merger would create more in store traffic for CVS and increase both
companies consumer base. This merger gave CVS the opportunity to expand both its own small
pharmacy benefits manager business and mail order business. CVS s opportunity to take
advantage of Caremark s pharmacy benefits manager business allowed it to take advantage of
the mail order business as well that had begun cutting into drug stores revenue (Rusli, 2013). By
providing its customers with a unique set of services and gaining the market power to control
costs, CVS Caremark gained a competitive advantage. Unless competitors like Walgreens and
Rite Aid find a way to respond to CVS Caremark s strategy, it will be difficult to remain
competitive with this firm for long. Overall, the merger was a great strategic move on behalf of
both organizations, which helped ensure the current success of CVS Caremark. Current
Performance CVS Caremark has continued to flourish since the merger nearly seven years ago.
Today, CVS Caremark is the leading pharmacy healthcare provider in the United States. Leading
the market in mail order pharmacy, retail pharmacy, specialty pharmacy, and retail medical clinics,
has allowed CVS Caremark to gain and hold a major portion of the pharmaceutical market share.
According to CVS Caremark s website, this translates into the corporation

The Mexican Revolution By Porfirio Diaz
Verdin, Ramon
Khan, Kamal
Santillan, Karen
Research Paper
The Mexican Revolution was brought on by tremendous disagreement among the Mexican people
over the dictatorship of President Porfirio I. DГaz. Diaz stayed in office for 34 years. During that
time, power was in the hands of only a few people. The people had no power to express their
opinions or select their public officials. Wealth was also in the hands of a few people. Porfirio
pushed peasants off of their lands and had business men take their land, they called the land
haciendas. The dictator like rule of Porfirio I. Diaz and the want of land were the reason for
fighting in the Mexican Revolution.
The main antagonist of the Mexican revolution was Porfirio Diaz. Diaz became president of Mexico
in 1876. He was the autocrat who took full control of Mexico for 34 years. The revolutionist
wanted a democracy so they fought against his power. The political instability during this time
was also a major question in Mexico. Porfirio Diaz was very corrupt. He used his power as the
president to his advantage. The Mexican Constitution called for public election but DГaz and his
supporters used their political and economic resources to stay in power. He would often imprison
his political opponents or assassinate them just to keep his power over Mexico. This caused the
citizens of Mexico to increasingly oppose Porfirio Diaz and his regime.
Francisco I. Madero, a wealthy landowner and industrialist, was one of the strongest

Atonement In The Trials Of Arabella
Written by Ian McEwan and later screen adapted by Joe Wright, Atonement is an extremely
effective and well presented metanarrative. It isn t until the final stages of the book where the
format of the story is disclosed, leaving the audience with an unsuspected shock. However, upon
closer inspection, the many indicative and self referential symbols can be recognised all throughout
the novel(2003) and the film (2007).
One of the most important and well recognised symbols of the book and the film is the prevalence
of The Trials of Arabella . Before we are introduced to the story line of Atonementwe are
introduced to that of The Trials of Arabella . at some moments chilling, at others desperately
sad...Arabella... is punished by ill fortune... on an impetuous dash towards a seaside town with
her intended... presented by a second chance in the form of an improvised doctor (Pg.1,
McEwan). Written by Briony Tallis, the play gives the reader the actual story line before the plot
is actually introduced. Similarly, although in the beginning of the film we do not know what the
story is about, the opening scene is of Briony in front of type writer, the scene is accompanied by
sounds of a typewriter and this follows Briony out of her room and through the house. Another
indication that Cecelia is in fact Arabella is the mention of the protagonist who ran off with an
extrinsic fellow. It grieved her parents to see their first born evanesce from her phone to go to

  • 2. Negligence in Healtcare Law MBA 5101 Unit 1 Case Study Gary Campbell Our text defines a tort as a civil wrong and negligence as a tort, a civil or personal wrong (Pozgar, 2012). Negligence as it is related to healthcare is an unintentional commission or omission of an act that a reasonably prudent person or organization would or would not do under normal circumstances. Not following a recognized standard of care could be considered negligence. The case I have chosen to study is one from the Circuit Court of Baltimore City Maryland and is that of Enso Martinez a minor by and through his parent (Rebecca Fielding) vs The Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore Maryland July 2013. I would describe this as a landmark, David vs Goliath case... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... At 12:30 a.m., Midwife Muhlhan attempted to expedite delivery while at Fielding s home. First, Midwife Muhlhan applied fundal pressure to Ms. Fielding two or three times. Second, Midwife Muhlhan injected Fielding multiple times with Pitocin, a hormone that increases the strength and frequency of contractions. Third, misjudging the state of her labor, Ms. Muhlhan performed an episiotomy, which is a procedure performed upon immediate delivery in which the perineum is cut in order to enlarge the vaginal opening. Finally, Ms. Muhlhan directed Fielding to cleanse herself with a probiotic treatment, as an alternative to taking antibiotics, in order to prevent the potentially fatal transmission of Group B streptococcus bacteria (for which she had tested positive), to the baby during labor and delivery. After providing these treatments, Midwife Muhlhan decided it was time to go to the hospital. Midwife Muhlhan sutured the episiotomy and called an ambulance. Rebecca Fielding arrived at the Hospital at 3:30 a.m. on March 26, 2010. Fielding was an unknown patient to the Hospital and was socioeconomically challenged. The Hospital s labor and delivery team evaluated Fielding s status and determined the best way to deliver her baby. The team also applied a fetal heart rate monitor. The medical records ... • 3. Essay On Interventionism Why is Interventionism Failing? From a decade in Red Vietnam to a decade in Terrorist Iraq, Post WWII America consistently has forced its involvement into conflicts, claiming to be defending human rights and democracy. The problem is that the Red Scare had been brainwashing Americans into associating Communism with people who were bent on world domination. America was only viewed as the enemy by the Communists because we insisted on being so. Furthermore, we face a similar problem against those who believe in terrorist causes. Not all nations are equally targeted, but by our reactions alone, the United States has managed to become the primary target. However, Bill Keller, former executive editor of the New York Times, points out that at the time there were serious debates that had strong points for both side in his New York Times article, Our New Isolationism . If it were not for Pearl Harbor, there is a very real possibility America would never have sent its military forces to the war. To fight for any one side is to be ignorant of the alternatives, some of which may be better overall and to commit to one side often has the consequence of alienating other peoples, leading to complicated possibilities of being enemies with a nation that would otherwise be an ... How Did Civilization Influence The Aztec Civilization The panic in the eyes of the Aztec emperor s victim escalated hastily, making nothing comprehensible and fearing what the life ahead of him has in store. Taking advantage of each element of the human body, the most important reason for sacrificing humans was donating the blood of the victim to one of the gods. The Aztecs utilized every resource and every part of the resource available to them to make them a proficient and accomplished civilization. The Aztec civilization adapted their way of life in Mesoamericato become a notorious culture; from their advanced rituals and authority they continue their legacy to today. The Aztecs settled on marshy land which over time led to crop failure. To fix this, Aztec engineers had to come up with an idea that would let them have success with their crops on the marshy land. They came up with floating gardens that floated over the water and utilized the, otherwise worthless, marshy land. As Lin Donn explains, the rafts were anchored to the bottom of the lake, or to a strong tree in the marsh. The gardens were used to grow chili peppers, corn, tomatoes, beans, and squash (Donn). The floating gardens allowed the Aztec civilization to expand tremendously and accomplish more with the help of this new invention. In addition, they also created a calendar based on the sun, as we still do today. Miguel Leon Portilla states, they had an accurate calendar of years and months based on a complex of days and hours (Leon Portilla, 28). The Aztecs had two calendars, however the three hundred sixty five day was the one used most and was the most common in the society. All in all the Aztecs were advanced in their math and science which helped them to prosper as a civilization. That then helped them develop good relationships with other cultures, helping with their trade and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. The Federal Trade Commission Act In 1890, the United States Congress passed the first Anti Trust Law, called the Sherman Act, in an attempt to combat anti trusts and as a comprehensive charter of economic liberty aimed at preserving free and unfettered competition as the rule of trade. (The Antitrust Laws). Twenty four years later in 1914, Congress passed two more Anti TrustLaws: the Federal Trade Commission Act, which created the Federal Trade Commission whose aim is to protect American consumers, and the Clayton act, which fills in any loopholes in the Sherman Act. Ultimately, these three Anti Trust Acts regulate three core problems within the market: restricting the creation of cartels, restricting the mergers and acquisitions of organizations which could substantially lessen competition , and prohibit the creation of monopolies in the market ( The Antitrust Laws ). The history of the antitrust laws date back to the late nineteenth century, following the end of the Civil War. This time, known as the Gilded Era, began when entrepreneurs began searching for big profits from their business ideas. Over time, the small business ideas turned into massive corporations. The creation of new ideas and a radical shift towards industrialism led to the Industrial Revolution. Amongst the most powerful corporations during this time were the four that still exist today: John D Rockefeller s Standard Oil Company, Andrew Carnegie s Carnegie Steel, Cornelius Vanderbilt s New York Central Railroad System, and J.P. ... People play lacrosse all over the world and the sport continues to grow in size. The sport lacrosse dates all the way back to when Indians would play for land and resources. The word lacrosse translates to Little Brother of War . Men and women of all ages and levels playthe game lacrosseto this day. At the Eastern Cincinnati Conference in Cincinnati, Ohio, the sport lacrosse qualifies as a club rather than a sport. The sport lacrosse should qualify as a sport because it would reduce costs, more players would join, it offers benefits, and people would consider lacrosse as a more serious sport. In the Eastern Cincinnati Conference, male and female high schoolers who have an interest in playing the sport lacrosse, have an expensive bill to pay. The cost to have a spot on the team alone estimates to about 300 dollars. The cost covers renting the field, transportation, and the use of the weight room. Due to the fact that lacrosse does not fall under the category of qualifying as a sport, players are charged more money to cover the fees that the school does not cover. On top of the 300 dollars, a requirement for all players involves the purchasing of equipment for playing. Players are required to acquire a stick, a mouthguard, a pair of cleats, spandex, and an eyepiece. Purchasing a stick alone ranges from 50 dollars to close to 300 hundred dollars. Sexual Innuendoes in the Films of Alfred Hitchcock When watching an Alfred Hitchcock movie, have you ever found yourself sympathizing with a deceptive seductress or a soon to be sex offender? If so, you may have felt guilt from watching such sexual innuendoes, but don t feel too bad. This is just one of the intents of Alfred Hitchcock as he weaves many of his tales with sensual characters. His films portray a vast array of sexuality from showing a battle of the sexes and tales of romance to showing homosexuals and sex offenders. Overall, the films of Alfred Hitchcock portray varying degrees of sexuality, which is manifested both romantically and perversely. The sexuality is one of the aspects of Hitchcock s films that adds intrigue ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Fourth, Robin Wood tells us, A Hitchcock film is an organism, with the whole implied in every detail and every detail related to the whole (Boyd 6). Through these four aspects, we can see that Hitchcock typically opts to show unsettling scenarios that can be seen as much in the intricacies of the film as in the entire premise. So, this sets the stage so that we, the audience, may know to look deeper into his films than just what is portrayed on the surface. The evolution of Hitchcock s ideas on sexuality came from his schooling and progressed throughout his film career. From looking into his schooling, I have found evidence that Hitchcock had received mixed messages. In the Jesuit school where he studied, he learned, women were at least a distraction, often a temptation, and in some cases dangerous (Hurley 219). However, he also retained many moral ideas including some awareness of sex and love as having divine origins (222). These two notions intrigued Hitchcock to begin exploring the sexual side of humanity within his films. Before he even began his career, one can see that the film that emerged during the last of his schooling became even more sexually overt (219). Through the beginning of his career, Hitchcock avoided depicting overt sexual overtones. In the 1950 s, Hitchcock clung to his themes which included, the coy sexuality (Silet). However, ... • 17. Flaws Of The Islamic Religion Flaws In The Islamic Religion By Kyle Lindsey Apologetics, Mr. Sweis July 2015 Part 1: Thesis In 1900, the world was made up of 12.3 % Muslims. In 2010, The number rose to 22.5% making Islam the fastest growing religion in the entire world, exceeding even the growth rate of Christianity. The American MuslimCouncil has estimated that there are 2,000 mosques and Islamic community centers in the United States. More than 80% percent have been built in the past 12 years. Is it possible then that Islam, such an attractive and fast growing religion, can be completely flawed? Yes, the religion of Islam is filled with historical, scientific, and most importantly spiritual flaws. Answering this question is important because people are becoming more and more blind to the truth of the Christian religion by the rapid growth of Islam. Outlining the flaws of Islam also helps to bring out the accuracy of the Christian religion. How is it possible that Islam, the fastest growing religion, is so full of errors? Islam is growing so rapidly because many of its followers are unaware of the extent of its corruption, and many of its followers are equally unaware of how many errors can be found throughout the Quran. One way to show people the flaws in Islam is by slowly picking it apart and in so doing, the person is able to more clearly see the errors and parts of the Quran that do not match up with facts of history and ... • 18. Social Presence Theory Paper The rise of technology and, consequently, social network sites have popularized a new method of socialization known as computer mediated communication (CMC) communication between two or more people that occurs and is contained on electronic devices. With this phenomenon spawned several theories that researchers have been trying to answer, including the social presence theory. This theory examines how CMC replaces physical face to face interaction and the consequences of this communicative exchange. CMC allows a variety of communicative mediums which each have their own level of physical salience, or social presence. For instance, video messaging a friend may seem more personal than text messaging because video message allows the message sender to actually see and hear the receiver s voice. This makes it easier to notice and pick up on the emotions, expressions, and nonverbal cues during the conversation. The social presence theory argues that CMC with higher feelings of social presence will be more personal and intimate whereas CMC with lower feelings social presence are considered detached and more task... Due to this I was able to significantly improve my cardio and core strength. My long term aerobic goal was to be able to run the 1.5 mile benchmark run in 9 minutes and 30 seconds, a 3 minute improvement over my initial 11:48 that I tested at initially. I thought this was a reasonable goal over the course of 1 semester given a consistent amount of practice. I met this goal about Вѕ into the semester and was able to consistently run the 1.5 miles every workout session in about 9:10. My aerobic workout schedule consisted of going outside and running the 1.5 mile course every session, pushing myself to my limits every time and thus incrementally improving my time. I found tht the most difficult aspect was to master my own self effort, as my own internal effort seemed to make the difference between a terrible time and a fantastic, fast, run. Once I was able to control this, however, my times became consistent, and I met my goals every day. My times slowly decreased until I was... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Mainly a neuroendocrine cancer, neuroblastoma is prevalently found in neuronal tissue of the adrenal glands as well as the ganglia in the spine. It is believed that neuroblastoma arises from neuronal crest cells; immature cells that branch off the neural tube in embryonic development (Roberts et al., 1998). Though 98% of all neuroblastoma cases are sporadic, there is a small percentage of the cancer that is inheritable. One of the genes believed to contribute to familial neuroblastoma is MYCN. MYCN, which encodes a transcription factor, is observed to be duplicated multiple times through out the genome of neuroblastoma cells, both familial and sporadic.... The duplicated copies of MYCN were found to not be present on certain chromosomes, but rather dispersed unevenly throughout the genome (Kohl et al, 1983). Gene duplications in this case can arise from many mechanisms, like nondisjunction, or the unequal crossing over during meiosis 1 between tow misaligned homologues chromatids. This increase duplication of the MYCN gene was found in no other cancer besides retinoblastoma (Kohl et al, 1984). It contains explanations, screenshots or visual cues, and tips on multiple subjects such as system defenses, reducing vulnerabilities, and the presence of malicious threats. Smaller areas, such as vulnerability assessment and penetration testing, are also covered because they are very significant in the securityof information. While vulnerability assessment is a necessity, penetration testing is purely an option to the security engineer. What is Information Security ? The three common components of information security are confidentiality, integrity, and availability and they form an essential base for the overall picture of information security. Confidentiality is perhaps one of the most common aspects of information security because any information that is withheld from the public within the intentions to only allow access to authorized individuals is confidential. Some people would say that Social Media helps catch and prosecute criminals, but the few times in which this does happen is heavily outweighed by the amount of privacy of which they lack, and the fact that they often expose users to government and corporate intrusions. A 2012 survey found that 13 million Facebook users said that they had not set or known about the site s privacy settings, and another 28% shared all, or nearly all, of their posts publicly. Facebook is infamous for its lack of security, how it forces users to stay on and use their site and secretly tracks them. They often make privacy settings hard to find. With many social media sites being money focused, they often sell their user s information to shady organizations. These sites expose their users too much and too often. By providing its customers with a unique set of services and gaining the market power to control costs, CVS Caremark gained a competitive advantage.
