The Adventurer's Guide Book by Amoré van der Linde
Question 6
1. Question 6
What did you learn about
technologies from this process?
2. Photoshop
The tools I used most often
were: the magic wand tool,
magnetic lasso and the
brush. The were almost
always to take out the
backgrounds to images, so
I could transfer them to the
magazine pages. I would
use the brush tool to touch
up the side of images and
clean off the page.
3. InDesign
The tools I used most often were:
the text tool, and then pen tool,
this was to draw paths for the
text to align on. I used this
programme to ‘set up’ the page,
this aligned all the pages and
images. It allowed me to set up
the page as I wanted it.
4. Blogs and multimedia
The main site I used while creating my product was blogger, I used it to keep a profile of all my
work so far. It then allowed my teacher to monitor how my work was getting along as I did it. I got
experience from using this site and built up my confidence about the online sharing committee.
I then used slideshare to upload my evaluation that was created on PowerPoint. This was again
uploaded to my blog. The slideshare site is helpful and lets me convert my already created slide
show and place it in an easily accessible way.
At the beginning of this course I used a site called ‘glogster’ to make a poster of my desired music
scene. This let me share some information about the scene in a creative way.
I tried to use ‘animoto’ to share my slideshow to the blog however the images would not upload
properly and became pixelated.
5. Cameras and photography
Digital camera: macro lenses were used to get specifically close up shots of people, to mainly gain
expressions. On software such as Photoshop I could manually remove the red-eye. Photoshop
also let me take the backgrounds out of my photo’s and replace them with the desired image to
make it fit with the right page or scenery. I had to set up individual shots for each, such as the
main subject had to be in front of a plain wall, this made it easier to remove the backgrounds. I
also had to arrange the camera to the correct angle or distance for the correct kind of shot
needed. The subjects I took photo’s of also had to dress as the scene indicated.
