1. Question 6
WHAT HAVE YOU LEARNT ABOUT TECHNOLOGIES FROM THE PROCESS
OF CONSTRUCTING THIS PRODUCT?
2. Photoshop
Using photoshop I have learned how to crop and edit images to make
them look how I want them to. I have also learned how to add effects
to be more creative with my images. Before I started media studies, I
knew only the basics of photoshop, like arranging layers and basic
cropping. I could only do basic things like put my friends face on a
sumo wrestlers body.
3. Photoshop
When using photoshop, I used a wide variety of tools to make changes to my photos.
Firstly, the lasso, magnetic lasso and polygonal lasso tool as well as the quick selection
tool allowed me to crop my photo as easily as possible. I learned that I was able to
zoom deep within the pixels so I can really get the crop as sharp as possible. I also
learned to use the gradient tool and how to customise my own gradient which I then
used as background. Another thing I learned to do was change the hue and saturation
to make my image appear black and white.
4. Indesign
Before I started media studies, I didn’t even know indesign existed. I
had never even heard of it before. Now I know it like the back of my
hand. Okay maybe not so much, but I know a lot about it. Indesign has
helped me make my magazine look like a magazine. I have learned that,
compared to photoshop, indesign is top of the premier league for
customisation of text as I was able to move text, shape text, colour text,
add effects to text and re-size text in so many ways. However, I have
also learned that if you want to edit a photo, you’re probably best to
not use indesign as the photo editing tools are nothing compared to
photoshop’s.
5. Indesign
This is the tool bar for indesign. The tools in indesign are
easier to learn than in photoshop as they are quite self-
explanatory.
6. Camera
I have learned how to auto and manual focus the camera so I can focus
on specific details when taking a photo. I have also learned how to
zoom in and out by twisting the front bit that is sticking out of the
camera. I also learned that smartphones may take good quality photos
but they are nothing compared to the £700 cameras we use as these
cameras provide a much more detailed and higher quality image, which
can be stretched and manipulated on photoshop without pixelating.
These photos allow for more creativity.
8. Internet software used
I don’t think all my fingers and toes could count the number of
different internet software sites I used, and that’s after I learned how
to use wordpress to create my blog. I now understand that media
studies is all about creativity therefore I am forbidden to use Microsoft
powerpoint ever in my life again and must use more creative and eye-
catching presentation softwares such as prezi.
