2. PhotoshopPhotoshop
Earlier on at the start of the course, we were taught how to use photoshop, as
majority of the people, including me, had not used photoshop before. We learnt
different and basic techniques such as layering, marquee tools, lasso tool, quick
selection tool, eyedropper tool, spot healing, the clone stamp tool, smudge tool,
horizontal/ vertical text and path selection tool. My skills have definitely improved
(and surprisingly rapidly) since the start, as you can see below..

3. The tools that I have used from photoshopThe tools that I have used from photoshop
The move tool was used a lot when I had to add in the graphic images onto the front cover and contents page.
I had used the quick selection tool to outline my models to so that when I added the black & white saturation in
the background, it didn’t affect the models.
The eyedropper tool was also used quite a lot when I couldn’t decide what shade of red I wanted to add onto
the masthead and the flash, so i decided to use this tool to select the colour of my main model’s bandanna to
make sure everything links.
The text tool was obviously used quite a lot as well to add text onto the front cover and contents page.
Colour swatches were used mainly for the image I wanted to use for the double page spread, as one of my
model’s arm was slightly cut off, so I had to draw on an extra bit using the pen tool and selected the actual
colour of his arm and shirt to create a full arm.

4. Lighting & StudioLighting & Studio
In school, we got the opportunity to experience a proper studio photo-shoot, we had a
back drop set up with various different lightings. I had experimented with white lighting
from the lights at the front and the yellow lights at the back, which I then changed the
colour of to pink, yellow and blue. This has given me much more confidence to do a
photo shoot on my own because I now know how everything works.
I also learnt how to work with my models in a studio as it gave me power to control how
they pose and how they act around a professional environment.
5. CamerasCameras
Before I had started this course, I had no idea how to work a
professional camera. By having a professional camera in the studio
I learnt how to work it and how to handle it as it was a huge
responsibility as I couldn’t risk dropping it/ breaking it. After
practicing a few times with test shots I finally took some actual
pictures which turned out pretty good. I made sure to make use of
the focal point of the camera as I wanted most of my pictures to
have a shallow focus, as well as the shutter speed mode to capture
hair flips and random natural poses. After having a supervised
studio shoot, I decided to do a location shoot, to test out natural
lighting, which worked really well with the kind of photos I wanted.

what is what on a professional camera
6. InDesignInDesign
I had made use of Indesign when constructing my double page spread, before this I
had never heard of it or used it, so we were taught how to use it.
These were the tools we learnt how to use. The bar on the right is almost the same
as the one in photoshop, so we didn’t have to learn much for it. Whereas the bar on
the left, was new to us.
P -Pages was used to duplicate the A4 page to make it an A3 sheet.
S -Colour swatches were used to change colours of text.
t - Text wrap was used to wrap the text around my models’ heads and to
wrap i wrap it around the graphic image in the middle.
7. BloggingBlogging
The most important element of all the technology that I have used, is blogging itself.
This is where everything is embedded onto and where all the analysis goes.
Throughout the course I have learnt how to embed presentations from various
different creative websites such as; Prezi, Piktochart, Emaze, Spiderscribe,
Voicethread and many more. From the beginning, I have been fond of in-depth
analysis and creativity, so having a blog helped me throughout as it gave me an
opportunity to mix them both together. To help me further with my construction, I
had made use of a website called ‘Da Font’ to help me decide what font I need to
use on my front cover and contents page, from which I downloaded a bunch of fonts
and tested out on the blog to see what I wanted.
