The document discusses the various technologies the author used to create their magazine product. This included using a DSLR camera to take high quality photos, Photoshop to edit images, InDesign to layout their double-page spread, and Blogger to document their research and planning process. The author learned new skills like using different tools in Photoshop and found technologies like Prezi and Jing useful for presenting their work. Overall, the author feels their skills as an editor improved greatly from using these technologies to create a professional, high quality product.
2. Whilst creating my product I feel that I
have learnt a lot about the technologies
that I have used and they have helped
me to create my product.
When creating my product I have been
blogging my development and research
using ‘BlogSpot’.
3. When creating my magazine, I had to take a range of original images
to go on/inside the magazine. In order for me to take pictures of a
good quality I had to use a DSLR camera so that my images
wouldn’t come out pixlated.
By me using this piece of technology I feel that I have learnt a lot about
using camera in general e.g.:
I now know how to focus an image so that the picture I have taken
does not come out blurry.
I can now use the flash appropriately when taking a picture and
how to correctly use flash bulbs so that when the lighting is on my
model there wont be any black patches visible on the image.
4. When creating my product (front cover & contents page), I used this
software. Photoshop is a software which enabled me to manipulate
images and photos that I had taken, and is also the software that i
used to create my Front cover and Contents Page with.
An example where I used Photoshop to manipulate an image would
be on my contents page, where I have 3 different images where I
used the ‘magic wand tool’ to delete the background and replace
it with another image that I had chosen from the internet.
On my front cover I also manipulated the main image so that there
was no background behind the image so that it wouldn’t block the
masthead but also in case I wanted to insert an
Image behind it.
5. Here is another example of a skill that I learnt when using
photoshop. This is called ‘text wrapping’.
For to do text wrapping I had to use the ‘magic wand’ and
‘eraser’ tool to edit out the background, I then clicked on the
pen tool and selected the ‘freedom pen’ and drew a
pathway around the outline of my model and used the text
tool to insert text around the image,
I used this tool because I wanted tool experiment when
creating different ways to grabbed the attention of my
readers, even-though I didn’t use this image within my
magazine, it is still another skill that I have discovered and
could possibly use later on in this course.
6. To create my double-page spread, I
used a software called indesign.
Before creating my product i had never
used indesign before, so i found it hard
to use at first ,
7. Throughout this coursework, I have been regularly using
blogger to show the re-search that I have done to come up
with the correct target audience and the planning that I
have done for my product and the developments of my
Magazine to prove that I created this product.
This was the first time that I have actually used a blog so I
learnt lots of different blogging techniques e.g. How to
create a new post when blogging, I learnt how to screenshot
an image on the Macs (cmd shift 4)/PC (press ‘print screen’
button), save them as a JPEG image and then insert them
onto my blog post, this helped me to show what my product
looked like and give a visual experience to my reader. I also
learnt the technique on how to embed things e.g. Slidshare
to make it easier for my work to be marked.
8. This software has been extremely useful
when I have been doing my research and
planning. It has been a good place for me
to place my information. This software
makes the pages to look more interesting
as it is easy to insert and image and will
therefore engage the viewer as they have
to interact with each slide.
9. This software has helped me to develop
my article for my double page spread.
I also used this software to draft posts
that I was going to put onto my blog just
so that I could ensure that they made
sense before being posted.
10. During this project internet explorer was immediately helpful to me. Not only
was it helpful when I was researching about my target audience, but it was
very helpful when I was creating my product e.g. Blogger helped me to
document the work that I had done.
During the research stage, I used the internet very frequently as I needed to
gather information about my target audience etc. To find this information I
used search engines such as Google, Ask.com etc. These search engines
also gave me a chance to find images that I wanted to use on presentations
or if I wanted to look at what my target audience might look like so I knew
who I would ask to be the model for my magazine.
I also used the internet to blog my work, this was very helpful for me when I
was in the process of creating my magazine as I would be able to keep a
document of all the research and planning that I had done. The proved to
be extremely helpful when creating my magazine and evaluating it.
I also used the internet to use a software called ‘Presi’.
11. This device help me to get my flat plans
that I drew of my magazine onto my
blog. It also helped me to
This device proves that I have planned
my magazine for myself.
12. Prezi is a website that provides a more interesting
way for you to present your work. I had never used
Prezi before but I used it to answer 2 of my
evaluation questions. This was a very helpful
website. I learnt how to insert images onto my prezi
and create different pathways for the camera to
move onto a different section of my work.
13. I feel that throughout this process I have
learnt the most about how to use Macs.
Macs are very modern computers and
have almost everything on them, by me
using a Mac I learnt how to use
Photoshop and InDesign. Using a Mac
makes thing generally easier to
complete work.
14. When doing my evaluation questions I
used Jing to answer the first question.
I had never used this software before so
using it at first was a challenge.
15. Overal, throughout this process I feel that i
have learnt a lot about different technologies
and how to use them in a range of ways.
I feel that my skills as an editor have improved
a huge amount from when I started creating
my magazine. Without these different
technologies I believe that the result of my
product would have been less professional and
would of had less quality.
I would have also been less organised without
these different technologies which would have
resulted in me not being able to show my
target audience.
