1. What have you learnt about
technology from constructing
your product?
Sam Jones
2. Indesign
Before I used InDesign, I didn’t know anything
about it. I was on a 0/10 level of knowledge.
Now I can make pages for my magazine, upload
pictures, add text and position them where I
want it to go. I also learnt from InDesign that
you can add shapes and text boxes on the page
and arrange them to go to the front of the
back, allowing pictures and text to overlap.
3. Photoshop
From using Adobe Photoshop, I have learnt that you can
change the brightness and contrast of your pictures,
and how to add effects of your choice onto it. Also by
including layers, it adds more detail and lets you layer
your pictures over each other to create a realistic
effect. You can also crop pictures and make the
background all one colour, which is what I done when
making my poster on my double page spread. I used the
rubber tool to make the background all white for some
of my pictures. I done this with my professional
pictures and I done this by using the magic wand tool
(this selects everything of one colour) and then either
‘fill’ or use the ‘paintbrush’ tool.
4. Prezi
From prezi, I learnt that it is similar to
power point. I can put text anywhere on the
slide, and when zoomed in, it comes out
clearer. It is like a big brainstorm but has
separate bubbles for different ideas. I have
never seen prezi before, so is a new type of
technology that I have learnt about. I have
also learnt how to embed (share) the
slideshow onto my blog for people to see,
rather than just post the link onto my blog.
5. Camera/lighting
From using the camera equipment and using the
lighting, I learnt that there is a variety of
different techniques I can use to make my
pictures get taken in good quality. I used the
Nikon digital SLR to take my photos of the girls
to put onto my magazine and used the white
backdrop and studio lights to add the
brightness effect. When I used this technology
I learnt how to position the lights and take
pictures at the correct angle.
6. Microsoft power point
When making my magazine, powerpoint helped
me when I wanted to save pictures. As well as
using photo shop to create this powerpoint, I
used powerpoint to copy print screens of my
pages on, and then save them as a picture so I
could then put them onto my blog. Examples
of when I done this was when I print
screened my logo and saved it to my
documents. From this I learnt you can save a
picture on powerpoint as any type of image,
from a JPEG to a GIF.
7. Blogger
Blogger is the main technology I use In
AS media when creating my magazine. On
blogger I put all the drafts on my
magazine, added changes that I made,
essays that I have written and blog
entries of what I have done good and bad.
From blogger, I have also learnt how I can
add entries at any time or date to put
them in order so it in in chronological
order all the way through my coursework.
