13. Expectations for first

First grade is an exciting time when students will
learn to establish routines and independence.
Students will:
– Unpack backpacks in the morning on their own to turn in
folders, notes from home, and lunch money.
– Have their own desk to organize and to care for.
– Keep an agenda and folder with homework and notes
from the teacher or parent.
– Be responsible for their materials.
– Complete homework and hand it in on time.
– Learn to tie shoes
14. Behavior Chart
Our code system for first grade is in the front of
the agenda & will notify you what classroom rule was
broken.
•Green – You are doing great!
•Yellow – Warning, stop and think!
•Orange – note home in agenda
•Red – refer to administrator in office
•Star- You have gone above and beyond good
behavior (and I caught it)
We will let you know by circling the color they earned in
your child’s agenda that day.
15. ClassDojo
• ClassDojo is a classroom management
system that encourages students to
behave and make progress.
• Parents can view reports and see
comments written by teachers.
• Letters will go home asking parents
to set up an account so you can stay
in the know.
16. Classroom Management
• The children will receive various rewards with the
assumption that they stay on green and do their jobs as
learners so that I can do mine as the teacher!
• Children will change their card from green to yellow, yellow
to orange and orange to red if they repeatedly violate
proper classroom behavior that hinders the learning
process.
• If they are doing a great job, following rules and really
impressing me, I will give them get a star for the day!
• I feel this will not only teach responsibility, but they will
also be learning some very important self discipline.
17. Homework
• Homework Packet goes home every Monday.
• Assignments are for each day.
• Each assignment is to be completed, checked, and signed by
the parent on the Homework Packet Cover Sheet.

will be absent.
