Class Charter
We will keep our hands and our feet
to ourselves.
We will always be kind.
We will wash our hands when we go
to the toilet.
We will do what the teacher asks.
We will not run in the classroom or
corridor.
We will listen to others
We will not shout in the classroom.
We will not lie.
BEHAVIOUR EXPECTATIONS
At Marlow C of E Infant School we believe that in order to enable
effective teaching and learning to take place, good behaviour in
all aspects of school life is necessary.
As a school we support the rights of children and these rights are encompassed in
the UN Convention of the Rights of the Child. This is reflected in this policy by
Article 19
‘You have the right to be protected from being mistreated, in body and mind’ and
Article 28 “Children have the right to go to school and receive a good quality
education.”
RESTORATIVE APPROACH
A Restorative Approach involves a conversation to enable the child to learn about
themselves and others, after an incident has occurred and is age appropriate for our
children.
The more it feels like this is a collaborative conversation and curious exploration that the
child is able to reflect and contribute to, the more they will learn from the experience.
We will talk to your child in a supportive manner to enable them to reflect and learn from their experience.
What happened?
What were you thinking?
How were you feeling?
Who else has been affected by this?
What do you need, and what needs to happen now so that the harm can be repaired?
CLASS REWARD
-To encourage the children to work as
a team they will also have the
opportunity to collect pom poms.
-When the class reaches 25 and 50
pom poms they will receive a treat
that they have chosen.
CELEBRATION WORSHIP
• Star Award – recognising someone going above and beyond
in their work
• Values Award – Showing the specific value that we are
learning about that term in worship. This half term we are
focusing on the value ‘kindness’.
• Certificates will be sent home on Friday
READING RECORDS
• Children are encouraged to change their reading books everyday - themselves. Books are
located in the classroom.
• At school, only the class teacher or support staff will write in the reading records.
• At home, we assume that if there are no comments, there was no reading completed at
home.
• *A child will only move up colour bands if s/he demonstrates solid, consistent written
comprehension of the book level*
• We are updating the information given on levels and these will be communicated soon.
• Our library day is Thursday, therefore the books and reading records will be checked and
changed every Thursday.
HOME LEARNING
The MOST valuable gift you can give your children is
listen to them read and let them hear you read.
• Home-learning activities will go live on the Google
Classroom each Friday - (Maths, English, Spellings,
Topic)
• Values related activity set by Mrs Reynolds for the half
term
MATHS
• To support the children’s fluency skills, this year we
are asking parents to download ‘1 minute maths’
• Individual one-minute tasks focus on adding and
subtracting – and on ‘Subitising’, the skill of instantly
recognising the number of items in a group without
counting.
• A link to this will be available on the class home page.
DAILY WORK
• Morning work on board - will vary depending on
day, usually reviewing something from the day
before
• Worship - children to attend each day
• Hymn practise is on Tuesday with Mrs Phillips
• English – 4 times per week and one session of
writing workshop
• Maths – 4/5 times per week
• Phonics - 5 times per week (20 minutes)
• Guided Reading – 5 times per week
DAILY WORK
• Handwriting - cursive style – three or four times per week
(depending on timetable)
• Guided Reading – five (or four closer to Christmas!) times per
week – if Benchmarking, children read on a 1:1 with the class
teacher
• Library Session – as a class we will go to the library on
Thursday as a Guided Read session.
• Spelling test – this will be once a week to practise the
common exception words, the words will be posted on
Google classroom.
DAILY REMINDERS
• PE is on Tuesday and Friday afternoon and children must wear their PE
kit
• They must not wear any accessories, such as earrings or watches on PE
days. Pierced ears must have earrings removed on PE days or they
cannot participate.

We will listen to others We will not shout in the classroom. We will not lie.
  • 4. BEHAVIOUR EXPECTATIONS At Marlow C of E Infant School we believe that in order to enable effective teaching and learning to take place, good behaviour in all aspects of school life is necessary. As a school we support the rights of children and these rights are encompassed in the UN Convention of the Rights of the Child. This is reflected in this policy by Article 19 ‘You have the right to be protected from being mistreated, in body and mind’ and Article 28 “Children have the right to go to school and receive a good quality education.”
  • 5. RESTORATIVE APPROACH A Restorative Approach involves a conversation to enable the child to learn about themselves and others, after an incident has occurred and is age appropriate for our children. The more it feels like this is a collaborative conversation and curious exploration that the child is able to reflect and contribute to, the more they will learn from the experience. We will talk to your child in a supportive manner to enable them to reflect and learn from their experience. What happened? What were you thinking? How were you feeling? Who else has been affected by this? What do you need, and what needs to happen now so that the harm can be repaired?

Books are located in the classroom. • At school, only the class teacher or support staff will write in the reading records. • At home, we assume that if there are no comments, there was no reading completed at home. • *A child will only move up colour bands if s/he demonstrates solid, consistent written comprehension of the book level* • We are updating the information given on levels and these will be communicated soon. • Our library day is Thursday, therefore the books and reading records will be checked and changed every Thursday.
