The pitch document proposes a music video for the song "Disappear" by Beyoncé. The video will tell the story of two young female adults (Louisa and Rusne) experiencing relationship hardships through a split-screen narrative. One relationship ends due to distance, while the other ends because the girl is too busy with work. The video aims to explore love and relationships in a way that will resonate with its target 17+ audience. It is inspired by mainstream music videos that use similar storytelling and editing techniques.
1. Pitch Document
My Song
The song that I will be using is Disappear by Beyoncé Knowles, I chose this song because it’s
a very emotional heart felt song that many people can relate to. The song came from her 3rd
Album I AM….SASHA FIERCE.
My artist’s name is Angel Henson, I chose this name because it very current and just a normal
young person’s name.
She’s an RnB/Soul singer similar to artists such a Jill Scott, Beyoncé, Brandy and Monica.
Why this song?
I chose this song because it’s a very relatable and emotional song. It suits the target audience
very much as young adults and older teens are most likely to be going through similar
situations in their lives.
The song can have a wide variety of narratives along with it as well; this can allow me to
expand on my creativity when filming.
Narrative
The narrative will have two different perspectives from two young female adults. They both
explore the trials and tribulations in their relationships. They are both going to be showcased
on a split screen, separating one situation from another.
One relationship is going to consist of a normal relationship, resulting in a break up because
of distance. The other will be another normal relationship; however the girl is too occupied by
her work, therefore leading to a break up. However there will be a huge surprise in the end,
something the audience wouldn’t expect.
Mainstream similarities
I’ve made some mainstream similarities by linking in with certain aspects of the video, for
example the John Legend video of Ordinary people. This video is similar to mine in terms of
the narrative style showing different relationships along with their own difficulties. Destiny’s
child’s emotions video links in with the editing of having a split screen that I plan on
incorporating. Lastly, the song by Beyoncé- If I Were A Boy links in with the song style that
I’m having and some of the narrative style as well.
Creativity
My creativity will be based around the editing as well as the narrative. This will be motivated
by the lyrics in the song, sending a powerful message of love and relationships.
Cast
Louisa and Rusne will be starring in my video as the main characters, they represent young,
successful female adults.
I thought hard about my target audience because I wanted it to be appropriate and meaningful.
I decided on making the target audience both girls and boys 17 years and older. I chose his
age because, as mentioned earlier, this particular age group can relate to the situations in the
video. Young adults also, as the characters in the video represent young adults also.
Location possibilities
My location options are still in progress, but I have thought of including the bedroom as a
more private and enclosed setting, as well as open green space, a train station and a high
street or just a small town.
Costume and make up
Costume and make up will be for just young female adults, so that would include clothes such
as blazers, heals, jeans and lots of jewelry.
Overall I expect this to be a very young but matured video, expressing different
interpretations on love and relationships in today’s age.
