2. Nikon D3100
This is the camera we will be
using for our production. We have
a good connection with this camera
as we have used it in all our
previous productions and it
belongs to one of our team, so can
be easily accessed.
We feel that this camera is very
useful to us, as it has a lot of
features to it that we can use in
our production. Previously having
used this camera, we have
experienced some problems with
focusing using. As a solution to
this, we have found that manual
focus is the best for this.
3. The viewfinder can be used to record video
however has draw backs as it is small and
involves getting closer to the camera. It is easier
to view off the larger screen, particularly when
shooting in different angles.
In order to view the footage live on the screen,
this switch must be flicked round.
This wheel is used to select
the setting to shoot in,
chosen depending on
lighting, distance from object
and how much control is
needed.
The playback button can be
used to check the footage and
to sort through any unwanted
footage to free up space.
4. Tripod
The tripod is a very
important piece of
equipment for us because
it holds the camera. The
adjustable legs can help
with the low and high
angles wanted in our
production. Another
helpful aspect of the tripod
is that it can be attached
to the dolly so that we can
keep the camera at a
height as well as moving it
smoothly. We will be
borrowing this from
school.
This picture shows
the handle which
adjusts the tilt of
the camera. This is
helpful when
following the
subject up or
down, as well as
being used for high
and low angles.
5. Paterson Lights
These were the first lights we tried out.
We thought they were good, however
the ray of light was not direct enough on
the subject in each shot. We thought
the handle on these lights however were
extremely helpful, as we need to be able
to hold and control our light to create
the spotlight effect. We will be
borrowing this lighting from school.
We had a solution to
the problem of being
unable to focus on the
subject of the clips by
trying out different
lights which had
shutters on so that we
can limit the amount of
light that comes out the
light.
6. Konig-kn Tripod
Dolly
For our production, we will
be using this Konig-kn
Tripod Dolly. We will be
attaching a tripod to the
dolly with a camera on, so
that we can make the
camera move smoothly.
This will be very helpful for
our production because
following conventions of an
advert and sponsorship
sequence, we will need to
move around a lot following
the subject to show what
she is doing. We will be
borrowing this dolly from
school.
If we cannot gain access to
the dolly at certain times,
then we will have to create a
makeshift dolly which will
hopefully do the same job.
Last year, access to the dolly
was a problem for us,
therefore we created a
makeshift dolly which involved
a small trailer with someone in
it holding the camera and
pedding up to show the
protagonist.
7. Ancillary Product- Radio Advert
The intimate
recording
equipment
makes it easier
and clearer to
hear yourself
speak and for a
general clear
track.
For our radio advert, we will need a recording studio so that we can achieve a
good quality recording. The picture to the left shows our singer, Sarah, for our
production last year. This was very successful, as it was very clear and exactly
what we wanted to achieve. The fact that the radio advert is all about the voice
means that the clearness of the voice is the most important aspect. For our radio
advert, we have the idea of mixing in the names of clothes with a tune/song. We
were thinking of using a copyright free music track and remixing it in with a
voiceover relating to our products that we advertise.
8. Resources- Garage
Band
Garage band is one of
our resources for the
creation of our radio
advert. No one in our
group has ever used
garage band before, so
with the help of tutorials
we should be able to
know how to work it. We
are using garage band to
create out voiceover and
use it to add our beats
in, in order to create the
basic track so we can do
our remix.
9. Resources- Final Cut Pro
As a group, we are very familiar with final cut pro after having
used it for more than 2 years. The screenshot to the left is one
from our production last year. There are clearly a lot of layers
on top of the footage itself, which shows how important this
software is in order to create a clean, tight production. There
are a lot of effects within the software of which can be very
useful for our production, such creating a clone effect and using
the software to create our sponsorship sequence when using the
jewellery box at the end of the footage with the help of
tutorials.
