2. Rough Cut Stages (video)
• In the rough cut stage we revived lots of feedback, however at this point our
video wasn’t fully finished (there was gaps during) so one of the main point
we received was to add more shots to the video. However another possible
improvement that was raised was bringing in another element to the video
as it seemed like ‘something was missing’ this issue was mainly raised by
my college tutors. To change this we had a group discussion on the best
ways to add something new/different to break the video up. Various ideas
were, to film in a new location preferably out side, this would be in front of
an urban type environment such a brick wall or graffiti or any other outside
environments. The other idea we had was introducing a narrative into the
video this is the idea that was most popular when we asked people for
some feedback on the ideas we came up with. I think this is because most
videos within the genre we have chosen hold both performance and a
narrative in the video. Here are the ideas that came from this feedback:
3. Rough Cut Stages (digipak)
• Also during this stage the digipak wasn’t full complete however we had
many positive comments on the colours we used, we were also told
similarly to the video we could refine the digipak. We got feedback to
expand the balloon theme throughout the the digipak more. We needed to
add track list and pictures from a new photo shoot we were planning to do,
the feed back helped us to design what we wanted to do in the photo shoot.
4. Rough Cut Stages (website)
• The feedback we received for this one was mainly to make the theme
consistent through out all the products i.e. change the colours so they were
the same as the other products (digipak and video) we also knew we
needed to make the website easier to navigate with simple links to different
pages. This is something we thought of as a group (feedback to ourselves)
5. Final Product (video)
• For the final video we go some very positive feedback, about the addition of
variation to the video (the narrative I introduced) I also got some positive feedback
from the change between colour to black and white on the dance and singing
rehearsals. Overall the feedback for the final was significantly better than form the
rough cut, showing the improvements we made from the feedback worked well in
improving the video. However there are still a few aspects I could change if I had
the chance, I would try to increase the amount of cuts/shot in the video in order
to make it more fast paced like other videos of the genre. I could do this in one of
two ways, I could use existing shots by putting different parts of the filming in than
I've already used or I could have done some more filming trying to incorporate
more narrative (which would more than likely also include more filming) I could
have done this by adding more hints of Todorov’s theory of an Equilibrium Dis-
equilibrium and a New-equilibrium.
6. Final Product (digipak)
• We used the feedback from the rough cut to make amendments on top of the
other things we already know we needed to add to the digipak, this was to make
the product more busy (adding the balloon theme throughout and more common
in the design). We already knew we needed to re shoot the photos and make sure
they fit the colour scheme, after finishing the product we got some more feedback
which showed the progress we had made in improving the overall look and
relation to each other (products)
7. Final Product (website)
• To improve we kept the content of the website i.e. the tour dates the biography's
band information and pictures but we changed the overall layout, making it so
much easier to navigate around the website, this gives the website more of a
professional appearance and feel. We not only changed the layout but added the
balloon theme into this product making the the theme finally run through all the
products. We also used the colour code through out to get the colour to exacly
match.
