Personal Narrative: A Rainy Day In Arizona
It was a rainy day in Arizona. Marie and her friend Sarah went hiking in the woods and then out of no where they came across an abandoned
hospital. They thought it would be cool to explore inside so they walked up the crumbling cement stairs. Sarah had a weird feeling walking up to the
hospital like someone was watching her every move. Marie pushed the door open. It made a loud creek. Sarah and Marie walked inside and looked
around. They saw that the wallpaper was coming off, there was graffiti everywhere on the walls, on the floor, on everything in sight, the ceiling had
fallen apart, there were bricks, and mold in every corner of the room. When they came to a large area there were chairs stacked on top of each other in
a corner, there ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
They saw another staircase but then they heard a girl screaming. Marie ran up the the stairs as fast could but then the stair broke beneath her feet.
She had grabbed ahold of one of the stairs and was holding on as tight as she could. Marie was screaming on the top of her lunges for Sarah to help.
Marie's grip to the stair was slipping fast. Then she lost her grip but Sarah grabbed her hand before she fell. She used all her strength to pull Marie
back up. After she was back on to the floor Marie was shaking but she went on to find out who was screaming. So they very carefully walked up the
stairs. When they got to the top the saw a stuffed teddy bear. Sarah walked over and picked it up. It had been drenched with blood. Sarah looked up
and saw blood spots. She walked down the hall and saw bloody hand prints that looked like a little kids hand. She stopped dead in her tracks. Then
they started hearing a music box playing faintly. Sarah looked in every room but didn't find it. Marie ran to catch up with Sarah. All of a sudden
the music stopped. They stayed still. They heard a wheelchair squeaking like someone was pushing it. Sarah's eyes widened with fear and there it
was a wheelchair moving by itself with no one pushing it. It stopped in the middle of the hallway. Marie was frightened. The wheelchair was
flying and almost hit Sarah in the head. Sarah ran off into another room and what she found was not what she wanted to see. Marie found her and
her jaw dropped. There was a woman's body on an autopsy table. She looked so pale. Sarah got closer and saw stab wounds on her sides and on her
stomach. Marie saw blood all over her clothes. Sarah started get nauseous. Marie didn't want to look anymore so she and Sarah left the room. Then

A Short Story Of Mama Wolf
"Mama Wolf, will you tell us a bedtime story?" asked Little Wolf, as Mama Wolf tucked him in with his brothers and sisters. The den was warm and
snuggly, but Little Wolf wasn't sleepy yet.
"Of course," answered Mama Wolf. "Listen closely, pups, and I will tell you why we howl at the moon." Mama Wolf settled down next to her puppies
and tucked one paw into her chest comfortably. Little Wolf and his brothers and sisters snuggled closer together and perked up their ears, waiting for
Mama Wolf to start her story.
"Once upon a time, a long time ago, there were two big wolves," began Mama Wolf. "Their names were Shadow and Moon, and they loved each other
very much."
"More than you love us?" yipped Little Wolf's sister.
Mama Wolf let out a huff of laughter. "Of course not, dear. Nobody loves anything as much as I love you." She kissed all the puppies on their heads,
and they wagged their tails happily. "Now hush, little ones, and listen to the story," Mama Wolf said.
"Shadow was a big, strong boy wolf," she continued. "His fur was thick and shaggy, and it was as black as night. Moon was a beautiful girl wolf,
with yellow eyes and pure white fur that glowed in the dark. Shadow and Moon did everything together and were never apart. Their favorite thing to
do was to go running through the forest at night, under the starry sky. Nighttime was always very dark, because back then, there was no moon in the
sky. But Shadow and Moon never had any trouble seeing in the dark,

Who's Blood Races down a Shirt the Fastest?
"The black, submissive sky recedes when the influence from the white, imperious moon disrupts the balance of candid humanity," my brother always
said.
"There are too many big words, Damien. I don't get it," I would respond.
"One day you will, Uriah. One day."
He loved talking with the bartender who lived down the street. Damien made sure to visit Mr. Caver after the full moon each month.
What do you think of black skin? Is it dirty? Is it clean? Before I understood anything at all, I'd scrape my brother's back while he just scrubbed mine.

As I walked home, a messy mop of hair attacked my head, or at least it looked that way from my reflection off the barbershop window. The moon was
still pretty.
Dishwasher detergent really was a waste of time. After my hands were exposed for a few hours, I felt the pain of the food particles in my dishwasher.
My friend Derek at school commented that I wore the exact same outfit to school the previous day. Why does he care so much? The moon will never
stop being pretty.
Lugging laundry detergent around a neighborhood at night probably seemed suspicious. Risking my reputation of having sanity, my hands were raw
after engulfing the pole with the detergent. No luck. Does it really matter if you stop brushing your teeth just for one day? That morning I was too busy.
The moon's radiance domineered the night sky.
My head hurt after I doused the pole in bleach. Surprise, it didn't work. My mom noticed her cleaning supplies went missing. When Damien was in
the house, we had a full stock, so she never thought to purchase them. No wonder I felt so gross. I forgot to take a shower that morning. My eyes hurt
after looking at the moon too long.
I really didn't know how I managed to get ahold of lye, but I did. The smell destroyed my nostrils. The pole never was the same. Instead of showering
that week, I tested how long people could stand to be around me without cleaning myself. Four days. Four days of not washing was all it took to

Gustave Caillebotte's Paris Street; Rainy Day Essay
Gustave Caillebotte's Paris Street; Rainy Day
The first thing that strikes me is the size of the work. About seven feet tall and nine feet wide, this painting dominates its gallery and overwhelms the
viewer. The couple in the foreground of the painting is nearly life size, and with the man poised to take another step it seems he might climb right over
the frame and walk right into the gallery. The bold perspective thrusts the scene outward, and with details such as the sharply receding roofline of the
main building and the acute tilt of the street, geometric and visual effects are created which push and pull the viewer and instill the painting with action.
This work is more complex and detailed then one might first imagine, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He tilts his umbrella to the right so as to avoid collision with the couple who neither pay him attention nor show any signs of tilting their umbrella in
deference. A green (a color which stands out) gas lamp separates these three from the rest of the painting, and also divides the canvas in half. A little
further back a lone man is crossing the street, looking down in a manner which suggests inward thinking but also illustrates the reality of the wet and
mucky road on which one must watch their step. The rest of the figures receive less influence, but a few of them are certainly worth noting. Directly
to the left of the protagonist's head two women walk away from the viewer. Their symmetry is visually enticing. Also, above the wagon wheel on the
left side of the painting a man is crossing the street. He piqued my attention because of the odd position of his body and feet – it looks as if he is
almost doing a jig. Lastly, one might note how the front couple's umbrella pole occludes a woman's head in the background; she in turn holds an
umbrella that obscures the head of a workman with ladder behind her; a curious compositional detail to say the least.
The surface of the painting is characterized mostly by relatively broad painterly brushstrokes which in that singularly impressionistic manner allow the
"stuff" of paint to really show. Even though the picture appears much more finished and

Rainy Day Toy Project
Month 8–Design Integration
In month 8, the Rainy Day Toy project had a turning point. From the previous course, in month 7, the logo design did not reach its full potential of
creativity, which leads to lack of clarity and visual impact. Under those circumstances, I decided to strategize by re–sketching and brainstorming new
ideas. In effect, by continually iterating, refining, and improving the work, a designer can have more ideas, trying a variety of approaches, unlock
creativity and arrive more quickly at successful solutions (IDEO.org, 2015). With this in mind, creating three style guides that broken into different
visual elements such as color palette, typography, and imagery, which generate the look and feel of the logo. The main

The Urban Renewal Project Of Paris, Caillebotte Painted...
During the time of the urban renewal project of the Haussmannisation in Paris, Caillebotte painted Paris Street; Rainy Day (Fig. 1). Depicting little to
no amount of communication and physical contact between the various figures walking through the intersection, this significantly unique painting
provides a sense of isolation and detachment. Caillebotte utilises several techniques in order to construct a powerful two–point perspective in his
painting. By determining where the lines of the objects in the painting recede towards and eventually meet along the horizon, the vanishing points can
be located. As the illusion of a three–dimensional space is recreated onto a picture plane on a two–dimensional surface, the vanishing points are... Show

The smaller the figures are, the further away they are portrayed. Furthermore, when the parallel lines of an object on a picture plane extend toward a
single point, the object will appear as though it is further away. Thus, these lines will eventually converge and disappear at a point in the implied
distance. This is known as the vanishing point. Objects on a picture plane can appear larger or smaller, depending on the distance from the viewer.
For instance, in Paris Street; Rainy Day, the architecture towering over the horizon provides a significant indication of where the vanishing points are
situated. The lines representing the roof, mouldings, windows and balconies on the façade of the building in the middle left of the painting recede
diagonally towards the horizon. If these lines visibly extended further, they would converge at two points on either side of the building along the
horizon. More specifically, these vanishing points would be located by the umbrella on the left and just to the right of the lamp post along the horizon.
Whether there are one, two, or three, vanishing points enable one to recreate a perceived point of view with form and depth in space. Perspective is a
fundamental component of producing realistic landscapes, still–lifes, portraits, etc. As demonstrated through the exploration of the perspective in

Analysis Of ' An Eye Who Is The Whole World Go Blind '
"An eye for an eye makes the whole world go blind." – Ghandi. The story of Dawn reinforces this well–known quote by demonstrating the heavy
silence of murder and it's feeble justifications.
A few years after the Holocaust, one of it's victims, Elisha, is recruited from his home in Paris as a terrorist in the city of Palestine. In his short time
there, he has participated in violent group retaliation against the British, yet has never been forced to kill individually– until now. This story documents
the tale of a young boy's struggle to come to term with the human's ability to commit cruel acts, as well as his struggle to justify the ultimate act of
cruelty: murder. Within it's startling revelations of the human conscience, Dawn illuminates that the comforts of revenge are only temporary; murder
terminates all answers.
With this, the author, Elie Wiesel, is able crumble the foundations of terrorisms and the reasoning that hate can ever resolve hate in his first novel,
called Dawn.
Dawn takes place in Palestine, a place where the Jewish community wakes up to a red, vengeful sky. After survivingthe Holocaust the main character,
Elisha, has been recruited as a terrorist for the Freedom Movement. For Elisha, who is now without a family, the Freedom Movement represents a new
dawn, an act of hope, and most importantly, a retaliation in the name of faith to secure what 's rightfully his peoples. However, daybreak presents
Elisha with a more tortured reality; he has been

Who Is Childe Hassam's Rainy Day, Fifth Avenue '?
Childe Hassam's painting titled "Rainy Day, Fifth Avenue, 1916" is a wonderful representation of just one of the American cities that were displaying
numerous American flags during WWI. This painting was created in 1916 representing the preparedness of the United States for the entry into WWI.
The painting is located at the Princeton University Art Museum in New Jersey. In this piece, the ability to utilize the same colors as several different
representations provides the painting with much more meaning than any normal figure in a piece.
Hassam's use of color in this piece is based highly upon the American flag. The use of red, white, and blue throughout this piece is used very well to
represent rain and several different figures. In contrast,

Faer As A Fox
Faer is a fox. He is a lonely young fox. Well he is some what lonely he does have one friend. One that he considers dear to him and that loves with

Faer talks to Luna every night before cuddling up in his den and falling asleep. Luna can't talk back but Faer knew that he and Luna understood each

searching, and searching, with worry growing more and more on his face only answer he can conclude is that his friend has been Kidnapped.
With worry Faer couldn't sleep. So he searched beyond his home. He was at the top of the mountain and saw a vegetable patch. He never went out
that far before, but for his Luna, he had to go. Faer headed toward the patch calling out toward Luna. Still no luck. Out of the blue out jumps rabbit

The Designal Analysis Of A Rainy Day Toys Brand Image
Rainy Day Toys brand identity is determined through research and inspiration. The visual components that made up the design project are the logo
design, presentation, and a questionnaire. A logo's purpose is to differentiate from other competitors. Also, the logo should show a unique quality or
style that can accurately portray the business perspective (Airey, 2014).During the beginning stages of designing the logo, it was designed for children
ages 1–4. The design challenge was figuring out how to connect the vision of the brand to reach the intended audience without being too literal. In
connection to a children–based theme, the imagery of an umbrella had a symbolic interpretation of a rainy day. On the downside, symbolic marks can
make less of a connection with the audience because the imagery isn't immediately recognizable and difficult to find a unique solution that works
(Hardy, 2011). Throughout the design process, brainstorming became the important key to find that spark ofcreativity to design a logo that becomes
emotionally connected to the target audience. In connection, creating a good logo should identify key information such as communicating the purpose
of the brand, recognize what the brand provides, and help define target demographic (Workerbee, 2017). In that case, the objective should decide
whether the visual style of the logo could support the message and also relate to the audience (Hardy, 2011). Hardy states (2011) " the client should be

Paris Street: Rainy Day By Gustave Caillebotte
"Paris Street; Rainy Day" is an oil painting by Gustave Caillebotte. It does use thin lines to create shapes such as buildings, people, and umbrellas.
Additionally, it has light coming from the sky but very subtly, for it is cloudy and raining. Because it is raining Gustave gave the men and women
walking through the streets of paris an umbrella casting shadows on their face. There is also a shadow seen in the reflection of the water on the streets.
The artwork shows lighter values with a pretty low contrast. The painting does use color, mostly cool tones like greens, blues, and yellows nearly
making it monochromatic. There is the texture of the tiles that makeup the street; therefore, adding visual texture to the painting. There is a sense

A Rainy Day And The Temperatures
The Path 1.Today is a rainy day and the temperature has been in the low forties all day. The environment has shaped my behavior immensely
today. I tend to be extremely productive on rainy days. I love the rain and it puts me in a mellow happy mood and when I'm in those moods I tend
to do things to improve my day of life like cleaning and doing homework. "Tweaking the environment is about making the right behaviors a little
bit easier and the wrong behavior a little bit harder." I am actually writing a majority of this paper today, which happens to be black Friday. Usually
on black Friday my parents make my brother and I leave the house. My mom and dad go shopping early in the morning and wrap a lot of the
presents later in the day. Since it was raining and I was kicked out of the house for the greater good, I figured I would trap myself in Starbucks and
crank out as much work as I could. Having the change of setting and mood of the environment around me I was able to stay more focused than I
would have if I were trying to do work on my kitchen table. I am a person who gets easily distracted so shaping the environment to make change
easier for me would consist of trial and error for what works. Trying new things and recording their outcome, then sticking to what works best it a great
was to shape the environment and behavior. An Amazon 1–click–style tweak I can create for myself to make my goal easier would be to get a time
every week where I go to a quiet place, whether it

Summary Of Paris Street: Rainy Day By Gustave Caillebotte
"Paris Street; Rainy Day" is an oil on canvas painting by Gustave Caillebotte in 1877. The painting is illustrated in Place de Dublin, Paris as it
depicts the everyday people of modern day 19th century Paris. In the foreground to the right a middle class man and woman are seen juxtaposed
together under an umbrella, possibly husband and wife, holding arm in arm. The man is seen with a mustache, holding the umbrella, while wearing
a black top hat, frock coat, black bow tie, and a white button down shirt. The woman is seen with diamond earrings, wearing a hat with a veil, a
brown dress, and fur lined coat. In the far background, slightly right to the man is another man seen holding an easel or ladder and to the right of the
woman a maid can be seen about to step outside with an umbrella. In the foreground to the left is a cobblestone road is filled with rainwater in

Amazingly, he was able to recreate a camera's lens blur as the foreground is slightly unfocused, while the middle ground is the sharpest, and the
background fades into the distance becoming more and more blurred. The painting is very much linear as the green lamppost in the center divides the
piece vertically; while a horizontal line can be found where the central most building meets the ground which can be traced to the couple in the
foreground eyes. The vertical and horizontal lines divide the painting in fourths, balancing it equally. Furthermore, linear perspective is largely used as
two vanishing points could be seen as you look down and along the road and central building, creating a two–point

Analysis Of Acquainted With The Night
In Company of the Moon and Inner Sorrow, "Acquainted with the Night"
In Robert Frost's poem, "Acquainted with the Night", there is a sense of melancholic loneliness of which the speaker seems to be content with. The
reader sees a glimpse of his perpetual depression on a habitual night time walk. He starts by saying he is "one acquainted with the night" (line 1). He
feels a sort of companionship with this time of day. Ironically enough, while most everyone else is asleep and quiet, he feels a sense of belonging.
The speaker personifies the city through parallels of his own lonely depression. Having walked "out in rain–and back in rain" shows that despite the
weather, he is persistent in his practice (line 2). The rain is symbolic of a gloomy mood or even a rough patch in one's life. In this case, the rain is
parallel to his actuality. As it rains for an extended period, we can infer that the persona has suffered with depression for some time. Underlying
causes of his sadness are not clear. However, the reader gets the impression he lives a life alone. His sense of being is encompassed in the imagery
of the somber city streets. He is lonely, a continual moment of subtle dread haunts his life. The repetition of the phrase, "I have", at the beginning of
the first four lines is significant as it shows all he experiences on these walks. The walk seems to be a nightly ritual, perhaps a way to clear his
thoughts. Insomnia is often linked with feelings of emptiness in a depressed

John Schoenherr's Owl Moon

Older students can dissect an owl pellet. We can take the lesson further and explore what animals stay in the winter and how they survive. Since this is
a story of what a boy did with his father, perhaps the students can discuss or write about an activity they have done with a parent, grandparent, or
friend. I remember writing a short story when I was seven, about snowmobiling with my grandfather. I drew a picture with the story; I think my mother
laminated it.
I chose Owl Moon because it reminded so much of where I live. Although I have never been on an "owling", I have had many opportunities to hear
them. The words of the author and the illustrator transported me to our meadow path. "Our feet crunched over the crisp snow", reminds me when my
mother, sisters and I went to the meadow to make plaster of paris molds of deer prints.
Jane Yolen is an author and editor of over 280 children's books, Owl Moon being one of her most notable works. Yolen graduated from Smith College

The Nature Of Nature In The Rainy Day By Henry Wadsworth...
Since the beginning of time, nature has always been there to support and nourish everything that inhabits it. This goes from the plants to the
animals that live their everyday lives depending on nature's support. However nature has been around for so long that we humans have become
accustomed to it always being there. This has caused us to take it for granted which is why we never stop to see the deeper meaning and lessons
nature has to offer. Nature has many other important values beyond it being just a resource, it is also a teacher of many important life values.
Many poets have written about the true beauty of nature and its deeper lessons. One of these poets is the famous Henry Wadsworth Longfellow,
who became the first American writer to be honored with a bust in the poet's corner of London's Westminster Abbey for his amazing poems that
inspired life in America. Much of his work have become classic American hero stories such as "Paul Revere's Ride" but he also touches upon the
subject of nature and its values. In his first of three poems entitled "The Tide Rises, The Tide Falls" he shows how nature is powerful and beautiful
compared to us weak humans. In his next poem entitled "The Rainy Day", Longfellow discusses how life has its good and bad times, but one should
always look back to nature to help them conquer their challenges. His final poem named "My Cathedral" shows how nature's beauty and lessons are the
most important thing in the world and should not be

Goodnight Ipad: A Parody For The Next Generation
Goodnight iPad: A Parody for the Next Generation Modern day society has a hard time saying "goodnight" to their technological devices, a problem
that Ann Droyd explores in her parody picture book, Goodnight iPad. Through witty illustrations and a rhythmic word scheme, Droyd follows the
nightly routine of a colony of rabbits engrossed by their gadgets and gizmos. The story opens with an exaggerated description of all of the appliances
within the household. The mother rabbit, trying to sleep, quickly gets fed up with the noise coming from her family's devices. To resolve this issue,
she says "goodnight" to the family toys by throwing every last one them out of the window, then finally sending everyone off to bed. Ann Droyd uses a
parodistic approach with exaggeration and personification to convey the deeply rooted obsession with technology in the twenty first century.... Show

Cows could jump over the moon without the night sky being lost in lights, and a sleuth of bears could sit in their chairs without iPhones in their
paws. This is a time that Margaret Wise Brown explores in her picture book, Goodnight Moon. In this bedtime story, a rabbit says goodnight to a wide
array of miscellaneous items in his room, including a quiet mother rabbit who whispers, "'hush'" (Brown). On the walls hang paintings of nursery
rhymes that date back to the sixteenth century. In the corner, a bookshelf sits fully stocked and a toy dollhouse rests lightly against the wall. Written in
1947, Ann Droyd realized that these simplicities are being lost in the buzzing of modern technology, hence her writing her acclaimed parody of

I Was Born On A Rainy Day
I was born on a rainy day on April 29, 1996 to a young and good looking Mexican couple, in a hospital in busy Downtown Los Angeles. I grew up in a
small cul–de–sac located in East Los Angeles and lived in a newly constructed two story, three bedroom home. The house was one block away from
the local park, which was visible from my bedroom. At the age of five I moved from my home in East Los Angeles to South Gate which was
located south of Los Angeles. When I turned five years old I moved to a new home, I realized the house was in a peaceful, clean, and crimeless
area than where I used to live, but the house was an old looking house that was built in the 1950s. The house wasn't a two story house but just one
floor. Inside of the home was full of old and dirty carpet, the carpet was extended to all the rooms and some of the carpet had mold like stains on it.
There were only two rooms inside and I was forced to share a bedroom with my parents. The backyard of the home was full of dirt, lizards,
cockroaches, and other insects. Overall, the home was worse than the one we used to own but it was located in a wonderful neighborhood full of
delightful neighbors, a lot of trees and peace. The first day in our new home was a disaster. Cockroaches came out of the walls, toilet, through doors,
and electrical sockets. The second day I asked my parents why we moved from a nice house to a horrible house, my mom then turned to me with a big
smile and told me, "it's for the best, trust me." I

The Things They Carried By Tim O ' Brien
"My life is storytelling. I believe in stories, in their incredible power to keep people alive, to keep the living alive, and the dead." Tim O'Brien's
novel, The Things They Carried, was filled with embellished stories and memories of war veterans. O'Brien's reasoning for writing that particular
book was because he believed that while a memory can die with a person, written words are forever set in stone. In his book, War was every one of
the soldier's enemy; It did not matter which side they fought on. War took men physically and mentally. O'Brien displayed how war stories were
based on a certain soldier's experiences, morals, and personality; Readers never truly knew fact from fiction. O'Brien's intended audience were readers

He chose war and went home. "I feared war, yes, but I also feared exile"(O'Brien 42). O'Brien considered himself a coward because he chose war, but
above all, he feared that his family would dishonor him. He was embarrassed not to go to war and ended up putting others' morals before his own.
In addition to the theme of morality found in "Rainy River", it is also noticeable in the chapter "Church". During the war, O'Brien's unit had just
come across a pagoda, a buddhist temple, and a pair of monks who lived there. The monks invited them to set up camp and helped the soldiers with
water, cleaning guns, and more. Henry Dobbins chatted with Kiowa about joining the monks when the war was over, because he believed in the
friendliness of religion by being amiable and helping others. Both exchanged words about what religion meant to them and Kiowa stated that he had
always been religious and enjoyed the comfort and silence of being inside a church. "Setting up here," he says, "It's wrong. I don't care what, it's still
a church"(O'Brien 116). Kiowa did not believe in setting up the unit's base operations inside of a holy place. Growing up religious, Kiowa's morals
impacted his decisions and opinions made in war.
Similar to the theme of morality, O'Brien discusses storytelling and memory in the chapter "Sweetheart of the Song Tra Bong." Rat Kiley told the
story of a man named Mark Foisse who flew his girl, Mary Anne, to visit him in Vietnam. The

It Was One Rainy Day In Southern California. I Was On My
It was one rainy day in Southern California. I was on my way to school, riding shotgun. My day had started off right. I did not mind the rain until I
got out of the car. I heard a big splash. My feet were soaked. I felt the cold–water seeping into my socks.
"Well this is a bad start to my day," I said out loud.
I walked inside school and rushed to class before I got another tardy slip. That would have really ruined my day. Finally, I sat down at my favorite desk
and waited for advisory to start. Advisory is a twenty–minute period where we learn about setting academic and life goals or about college. I loved
advisory because I could finish my homework or talk to my friends.

"Hey, Estefany, what do you think about the book Ms. Wyatt is having us read?" Estefany and Yvette, my closest friends in AP English Literature.
Among the three of us, Estefany is a total bookworm. She loves books and enjoys writing fictional stories.
She replied, "I love it, I have read it once before!"
"How can you like this book?" I said out loud.
I gave her no time to reply, instead, I asked Yvette, "What do you think about the book?"
Yvette said, "I don't know what to think, I barely read the first page because I did not know what I was reading!"
"Same, I have no idea how I am going to write the essay," I said.
In my mind, I started thinking about how Ms. Wyatt expected me to write an essay about a book I didn't even understand. I was so frustrated that
I could feel my ears getting hot and turning red. The way I felt reminded me of something I read the other day. It was a reading called "Aria" by
Richard Rodriguez. Richard was fluent in Spanish and was forced to learn English. It was difficult for him. He felt "surrounded by sounds both
pleasing and fearful" (28). As a result, he was shy to raise his hand in class and felt intimidated by others who knew English. I was beginning to feel
his pain. Even though I knew English, the book I was being forced to read in Ms.

Skecthing Gustave Calliebotte's Paris Street; Rainy Day
I can smell the rain on my jacket as my fingers numbly make their way across the pad, trying their best to capture an instant in time on a piece of
yellow, college–ruled, notebook paper, despite my now apparent lack of artistic ability. As I am watching the scene unfold, I hardly notice the people
walking around me, gazing at the same thing I am, before they move on. Cuddling under an umbrella, a man and his wife are casually strolling through
the light fog. Their attention is caught by something off to their right, so he does not notice when his top hat is almost bumped to one side by the
umbrella as another pedestrian tries to pass on the narrow sidewalk. Further off in the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The buildings are just far enough away and draped in a delicate fog that their details remain slightly imperceptible. But in retrospect, this entire painting
lacks any distinct quality, yet possesses a magical ability to draw one into the scene and envelope them in the mystery and serenity of that Parisian
evening.
I am certain that while I was sketching the work, I became an obstacle for many of the other patrons of the Art Institute, which is one of the reasons I
sat down. But from this vantage point I had the opportunity to marvel at the grand scope of this composition. Gustave Calliebotte's Paris Street; Rainy
Day has the peculiar ability to exist in duality. Standing close to the canvas, I could feel myself pulled into the scene that took place over 120 years
ago. I could feel the dampness in my hair and smell the rain on my clothes, although I must attribute at least part of that to the rainy Chicago weather I
encountered before entering the museum. From a closer perspective, the life–size characters effectively contribute to the realism of the piece. The
immense size of the painting itself helps to incorporate the viewer into the scene. Being close, it feels as though this Parisian intersection could wrap
around you, and standing there I would not be terribly surprised if I turned around to see nothing but the rest of the street, continuing through the

Personal Narrative : A Rainy And Stormy Day Of The Storms
By: Kipras Brazauskas
I remember it was 8 pm and I was sitting in the kitchen scrolling down weather.com. Quickly some red and orange spots on a map caught my eye. I
looked at the headline below and it said Heavy Thunderstorms and High Winds heading to the Midwest region. What it did not say was the time this
was all going to happen at. Thus I assumed that tomorrow was going to be yet another rainy and stormy day. But I was all wrong...
I remember I suddenly woke up at 2:00 am to the sound of rain and hail pounding against my window and every window in the house. I then started
walking around on the second floor because I thought that I had heard the sound of broken glass. It was just a false alarm because the windows were
large that one heavy drop sounded like a pound from John Cena. A few minutes later I started my scary journey down the stairs. As thestorm
intensified, most of my family started waking up and walking around the house trying to find out what was happening.
My mom and I then walked up the stairs and checked on my sisters. One of them woke up and joined us frightened by the wind and rain pounding her
window. The other sister did not care about the storm as she blissfully slept through it all. A few minutes later my mom and I entered my room. After
we walked to the window and I opened the curtains we could not believe our eyes: a huge spruce tree was no longer standing by my window towering
over the front yard. At first we thought it was struck by lightning

On A Rainy Day By Tim O Brien
Literary Analysis On "On A Rainy Day"
Tim O'Brien begins the narration by explaining the harsh reality of having to explain the narration. In his depiction as a narrator, he expresses the
emotional portrayal of the recitation with abysmal descriptions such as "embarrassment for all of us", "feeling the shame", and "trying to push it away".
Having mentioned his family's unawareness of his thoughts on the topic highlights the shame he has endured. This is important in understanding the
importance of the event because having not told his family, those an individual presumably trusts with inner thoughts, enhances the depth of tone and
meaning of the story. Given the emotional impact within the plot, the reader is instantly forced to picture the expressive imagery of the story. As the
introduction unravels, the narrator expresses his loss of courage and bravery he once believed all people are thought to inherit during their childhood.
As the theme of embarrassment is developed, a clear mental image of the severity of having to fight a battle that is not your own is drawn out for the
reader.
As a draft in the Vietnam War, O'Brien talks of a war he "hated". He defines this event in a dreadful and confusing light. Conveying his personal
dissatisfaction of the combat by stating the Five W's, who, what where, when, why, which question the rationality and certainty, or lack thereof, of the
"civil" war. Many of his own convictions were displayed by continuous questioning of events in

How Does The Speaker Use Imagery In The Rainy Day
A booming echo of thunder bellows in the distance as the rain hurls upon the earth with no intent of ceasing, demolishing what would have been a
gorgeous sunny day. Abruptly, the precipitation pauses, the sun glows upon the land, and the harmonious chirps of birds fill the air. In Henry
Wadsworth Longfellow's poem "The Rainy Day," he depicts the immediate and long term effects of enduring hardships on the mind. Misfortunes are
an inescapable element of the life of any individual. Symbolism and imagery convey the speaker's initial mindset that life will always remain dull and
gloomy. For example, what begins as a sorrowful day transitions into the speaker's whole life, which he describes as "cold, and dark, and dreary," (7).
Addressing the entirety of life in this manner identifies immense emotional unrest. This negative mindset influences the belief that there are no
moments to cherish in life. In addition, the speaker discusses his unsettling thoughts that "cling to the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For instance, the speaker comforts himself with the belief that "Behind the clouds is the sun still shining," (12). The sun is a symbol for better days
and more positive instances yet to come. These pleasurable moments are masked by symbolic clouds that represent the complications that make life
seem dreary. This demonstrates the understanding that pain and discomfort are provisional. Moreover, the speaker continues to explain his belief that,
"Into each life some rain must fall, / Some days must be dark and dreary," (14). The rain represents hardships and unpleasant days, which are now
understood to be inevitable. Instead of fretting over these obstacles, the speaker learns to accept this fate. As the turmoil begins to cease and a wave of
content commences, the speaker realizes that bad days are unavoidable, but they do not last

Descriptive Essay About Losing A Pet
Among the saddest truths about this lifetime is this: A dog's life is significantly shorter than a human's life. I said goodbye to my beloved
Miniature Schnauzer, Samson, on March 26th, 2017. He was ten years old. It is an opinion to say that losing a pet is like losing a member of the
family. The fact is, though, it is an understatement. Dogs are unique in their own ways. As it is said, "Grief is the price you pay for love." And I
paid a heavy priced that day. It is unbelievable how we take things for granted. Plans are made for each day, and we do not think twice about those
plans. Unfortunately, they can change in the blink of an eye. I never personally thought much about it, until I was faced with the shock and tragedy of

How To Describe A Day On A Rainy Day Essay
One cold wet afternoon in early November, the fog was so thick I felt a though I could reach out and grab it. It had been bright sunshine when we
walked into that forest. Or should I say when we were chased into it. Earlier that morning it felt as though it would be just another ordinary
Saturday. The birds were singing, the tractors were ploughing, but little did I know that at that point, this was no regular day for what was to come
on the sunny day was very irregular indeed. Later on I decided to ring ben and see if he wanted to go on a walk together in the countryside. After
about ten minutes we set of together through the fields and down the country lanes. All of a sudden ben stopped in the middle of the road and
asked me if I had seen the forest ahead of us before. Confused I said no and we started up again and carried on with our walk. Out of nowhere a bull
jumped out the hedgerow a chased ben and I towards the forest walls. We ran in and hid behind some trees close so tothe edge. The bull seemed to
know that we were there but didn't seem to want to go into the forest. Ben moved his head signalling that we should find a way out of the forest I
nodded and came out of where I was hiding I turned and saw the bull staring at me but he didn't move I suddenly noticed that the fog around us was
growing thicker and I could no longer see ben in front of me. I shouted for him but no reply. Suddenly I fell and heard a cry of which I thought

Paris Street, Rainy Day By Gustave Caillebotte
Paris Street, Rainy Day, by Gustave Caillebotte, is an oil painting created in 1877. It is Gustave's most famous work. The purpose behind this
painting is to show a different, and more truthful, side of the quickly modernizing streets of Paris. Most artists depicted Paris as lively and joyous
during its modernization, with bright colors, parades, and lively people. Caillebotte, however, wanted to give his painting a sense of realism, showing
the way Paris actually was most of the time. The Painting's purpose is to portray the melancholy and disinterest the people had with their new
surroundings. It shows the uniformity of the people, the streets, and the buildings. It seems as if in a single moment, everything in the photo would
have changed. The visual elements ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It uses pale blues, greens, yellows, and grays to emphasize mood and perspective. The lack of bright color sets the mood to be isolated, disinterested,
and unenthusiastic. Furthermore, the color aids the perspective by fading into grey and blue as objects get further into the distance. Next, the artist
uses lines to draw attention to different parts of the painting. The horizontal lines of the buildings and the streets draw the viewer's attention to the
couple in the front. Their faces are turned to something in the distance, showing their disinterest to the shops next to them. The vertical line of the street
lamp behind the couple separates them from the background of the painting. The vertical lines from the bottom center of the piece, gently curving
along the curb, draws the attention to the back of the painting. Perspective was used the heaviest in the painting. The perspective is one point linear
perspective. He enforces perspective by cutting the street lamp off with the couple. The way the couple is cut off at the knees and the man to the right
of the painting is cut off, makes this painting appear photographic in nature. The focus of the painting appears to be more bulged than the things

Analysis Of The Book Night By Elie Wiesel
McBride 1 Brandy McBride McAndrew ELA August 6, 2017 Night In the book Night by Elie Wiesel there are many instances where his use of
imagery helps establish tone and purpose. For example Elie Wiesel used fire (sight) to represent just that. The fire helps prove that the tone is
serious and mature. In no way did Wiesel try to lighten up the story about the concentration camps or the Nazis. His use of fire also helps show his
purpose. "Never shall I forget that night, the first night in camp, that turned my life into one long night seven times scaled. Never shall I forget that
smoke. Never shall I forget the small faces of the children whose bodies I saw... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However he then stated "Where is he? This is where––hanging here from this gallows..." "that night the soup tasted like corpses" (page 65). Here
Wiesel had two very different opinions on the soup. The way he described the soup in the first quote showed he was hungry and happy although
once he realized the truth everything changed. He soon found the soup to be repulsing and he wanted nothing to do with it. For example when he
says the soup tasted like corpses he means that they did not feel the satisfaction of eating because they just witnessed a horrific occurrence. This
helps with tone because the reader can tell how quickly his tone went downhill. Last but not least is the sense of smell which Wiesel used
throughout the book by explaining the burners and crematories. "In front of us, those flames. In the air, the smell of burning flesh. It must have been
around midnight. We had arrived. In Birkenau" (28, Wiesel). Along with the smell Wiesel had witnessed and heard awful events that took place in
the burners. "Over there. Do you see the chimney over there? Do you see it? And the flames, do you see them?" (Yes, we saw the flames.) "Over
there, that's where they will take you. Over there will be your grave. You still don't understand? You sons of bitches. Don't you understand anything?
You will be burned! Burned into a cinder! Turned to ashes" (30–31, Wiesel). This shows a different tone. It shows fear and worry because does anyone

Caillebotte Paris Street A Rainy Day
There are numerous clichГ© statements regarding art, such as "A picture is worth a thousand words" or "Beauty is in the eye of the beholder",
certainly, this would apply when viewing two paintings depicting a rainy day in the late 19th Century. The first painting titled Paris Street; A Rainy
Day (1877) is by Gustave Caillebotte and the second is by Childe Hassam titled A Rainy Day on Fifth Avenue (1893). By first glance, both paintings
have some obvious similarities, most notable being people walking in the rain with horse drawn carriages in the background, but given the period the
paintings may have very different interpretations by the viewer. The two artists use very differentpainting styles depicting their ideas of a rainy day.

The streets are cobbled, the afternoon sky is cloud covered and shows a subtle gradation from rose–gray near the horizon to a cool gray toward the top,
and everyone is walking under umbrellas. Many characters look as if they are out for a leisurely stroll, shopping, or just taking in the sights. Men
wear top hats and long tailed coats while the women wear full–length dresses, all symbolic of the late 19th century. The artist used deep colors, making
the painting appear darker; perhaps to evoke the feeling of a rainy day or that it is sometime between late afternoon and early evening. It is
interesting to note that a fashionably dressed Parisian couple (a man and a woman) in the foreground of the painting is walking toward the viewer.
They are portrayed in sharper detail than others are, while objects further away have fewer distinguishing features. This is especially noticeable when
viewing the buildings; immediately you notice the painting blurs the further away or deeper into the picture it goes. Caillebotte provides a lot of depth
and detail, allowing the viewer to enjoy all that is occurring in the

did not understand their ways, their speech, or their dances. He was totally clueless about the Indian culture, except what he had heard from his

On The Rainy River Character Analysis
Life can bring unexpected events that individuals might not be prepared to confront. This was the case in the short story "On The Rainy River"
written by Tim O'Brien. Young Tim is drafted to the military to fight the American War in Vietnam. He faces the conflict of whether he should or
should not go to war after being drafted. The thought of giving up the future he has worked so hard for and instead fight a war "for uncertain
reasons" terrifies him. He must make the agonizing decision of whether to pursue his personal desire and in turn be shamed by society or conform,
sacrificing his ideals in the process. Through the initial characterization of young Tim, O'Brien suggests that when faced with unexpected life
changing dilemmas people will more often than naught end up clouded judgement and panic. Young Tim is ambitious and well educated, he is on
his way to Harvard University on a scholarship. His life is heading in the best direction possible. This is until he receives the draft letter. His ideals
"hurtling down a huge black funnel" and all he can do is "nothing ...wait." His helpless soon becomes rage, rage towards the government who's
motives for the war "were shrouded in uncertainty". He is "too good for this war. Too smart, too compassionate, too everything." "Why don't they
"draft some back–to–the–stone–age hawk?" Why must he, who doesn't support this "uncertain" war "put [his] own precious fluids on the line." As "the
rage in [his] stomach" "burned down" he soon

It was a rainy day in LA. I have been praying to not have rain while I am in LA but unfortunately, at the point of where I almost got rid of the cold,
it has rained at last. However, I had a good experience/visit along rain. Although I am a fashion student, I am interested in ceramics because I had
worked and made a lot of ceramics since my cousin sister got her degree in ceramics. When I was about 6 years old that I first made my own pots.
Because I love making things with clay and familiar with ceramics, Peter Shire's art works were really interesting to me that those are unusual,
unique, different from the tradition mold of the cups, kettles, etc. Next day, we had a very busy day of visiting galleries and studios. If was a non–stop

  • 2. Personal Narrative: A Rainy Day In Arizona It was a rainy day in Arizona. Marie and her friend Sarah went hiking in the woods and then out of no where they came across an abandoned hospital. They thought it would be cool to explore inside so they walked up the crumbling cement stairs. Sarah had a weird feeling walking up to the hospital like someone was watching her every move. Marie pushed the door open. It made a loud creek. Sarah and Marie walked inside and looked around. They saw that the wallpaper was coming off, there was graffiti everywhere on the walls, on the floor, on everything in sight, the ceiling had fallen apart, there were bricks, and mold in every corner of the room. When they came to a large area there were chairs stacked on top of each other in a corner, there ... She used all her strength to pull Marie back up. After she was back on to the floor Marie was shaking but she went on to find out who was screaming. So they very carefully walked up the stairs. When they got to the top the saw a stuffed teddy bear. Sarah walked over and picked it up. It had been drenched with blood. Sarah looked up and saw blood spots. She walked down the hall and saw bloody hand prints that looked like a little kids hand. She stopped dead in her tracks. Then they started hearing a music box playing faintly. Sarah looked in every room but didn't find it. Marie ran to catch up with Sarah. All of a sudden the music stopped. They stayed still. They heard a wheelchair squeaking like someone was pushing it. Sarah's eyes widened with fear and there it was a wheelchair moving by itself with no one pushing it. It stopped in the middle of the hallway. Marie was frightened. The wheelchair was flying and almost hit Sarah in the head. Sarah ran off into another room and what she found was not what she wanted to see. Marie found her and her jaw dropped. There was a woman's body on an autopsy table. She looked so pale. Sarah got closer and saw stab wounds on her sides and on her stomach. Marie saw blood all over her clothes. • 3. A Short Story Of Mama Wolf "Mama Wolf, will you tell us a bedtime story?" asked Little Wolf, as Mama Wolf tucked him in with his brothers and sisters. The den was warm and snuggly, but Little Wolf wasn't sleepy yet. "Of course," answered Mama Wolf. "Listen closely, pups, and I will tell you why we howl at the moon." Mama Wolf settled down next to her puppies and tucked one paw into her chest comfortably. Little Wolf and his brothers and sisters snuggled closer together and perked up their ears, waiting for Mama Wolf to start her story. "Once upon a time, a long time ago, there were two big wolves," began Mama Wolf. "Their names were Shadow and Moon, and they loved each other very much." "More than you love us?" yipped Little Wolf's sister. Mama Wolf let out a huff of laughter. "Of course not, dear. Nobody loves anything as much as I love you." She kissed all the puppies on their heads, and they wagged their tails happily. "Now hush, little ones, and listen to the story," Mama Wolf said. "Shadow was a big, strong boy wolf," she continued. "His fur was thick and shaggy, and it was as black as night. Moon was a beautiful girl wolf, with yellow eyes and pure white fur that glowed in the dark. Shadow and Moon did everything together and were never apart. Their favorite thing to do was to go running through the forest at night, under the starry sky. Nighttime was always very dark, because back then, there was no moon in the sky. But Shadow and Moon never had any trouble seeing in the dark, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Who 's Blood Races Down A Shirt The Fastest? Who's Blood Races down a Shirt the Fastest? "The black, submissive sky recedes when the influence from the white, imperious moon disrupts the balance of candid humanity," my brother always said. "There are too many big words, Damien. I don't get it," I would respond. "One day you will, Uriah. One day." He loved talking with the bartender who lived down the street. Damien made sure to visit Mr. Caver after the full moon each month. What do you think of black skin? Is it dirty? Is it clean? Before I understood anything at all, I'd scrape my brother's back while he just scrubbed mine. Blood is the best way to ruin your favorite shirt. As I walked home, a messy mop of hair attacked my head, or at least it looked that way from my reflection off the barbershop window. The moon was still pretty. Dishwasher detergent really was a waste of time. After my hands were exposed for a few hours, I felt the pain of the food particles in my dishwasher. My friend Derek at school commented that I wore the exact same outfit to school the previous day. Why does he care so much? The moon will never stop being pretty. Lugging laundry detergent around a neighborhood at night probably seemed suspicious. Risking my reputation of having sanity, my hands were raw after engulfing the pole with the detergent. No luck. Does it really matter if you stop brushing your teeth just for one day? That morning I was too busy. The moon's radiance domineered the night sky. My head hurt after I doused the pole in bleach. Surprise, it didn't work. My mom noticed her cleaning supplies went missing. When Damien was in the house, we had a full stock, so she never thought to purchase them. No wonder I felt so gross. I forgot to take a shower that morning. My eyes hurt after looking at the moon too long. I really didn't know how I managed to get ahold of lye, but I did. The smell destroyed my nostrils. • 6. Gustave Caillebotte's Paris Street; Rainy Day Essay Gustave Caillebotte's Paris Street; Rainy Day The first thing that strikes me is the size of the work. About seven feet tall and nine feet wide, this painting dominates its gallery and overwhelms the viewer. The couple in the foreground of the painting is nearly life size, and with the man poised to take another step it seems he might climb right over the frame and walk right into the gallery. The bold perspective thrusts the scene outward, and with details such as the sharply receding roofline of the main building and the acute tilt of the street, geometric and visual effects are created which push and pull the viewer and instill the painting with action. This work is more complex and detailed then one might first imagine, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... He tilts his umbrella to the right so as to avoid collision with the couple who neither pay him attention nor show any signs of tilting their umbrella in deference. A green (a color which stands out) gas lamp separates these three from the rest of the painting, and also divides the canvas in half. A little further back a lone man is crossing the street, looking down in a manner which suggests inward thinking but also illustrates the reality of the wet and mucky road on which one must watch their step. The rest of the figures receive less influence, but a few of them are certainly worth noting. Directly to the left of the protagonist's head two women walk away from the viewer. Their symmetry is visually enticing. Also, above the wagon wheel on the left side of the painting a man is crossing the street. He piqued my attention because of the odd position of his body and feet – it looks as if he is almost doing a jig. Lastly, one might note how the front couple's umbrella pole occludes a woman's head in the background; she in turn holds an umbrella that obscures the head of a workman with ladder behind her; a curious compositional detail to say the least. The surface of the painting is characterized mostly by relatively broad painterly brushstrokes which in that singularly impressionistic manner allow the "stuff" of paint to really show. Even though the picture appears much more finished and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. Rainy Day Toy Project Month 8–Design Integration In month 8, the Rainy Day Toy project had a turning point. From the previous course, in month 7, the logo design did not reach its full potential of creativity, which leads to lack of clarity and visual impact. Under those circumstances, I decided to strategize by re–sketching and brainstorming new ideas. In effect, by continually iterating, refining, and improving the work, a designer can have more ideas, trying a variety of approaches, unlock creativity and arrive more quickly at successful solutions (IDEO.org, 2015). With this in mind, creating three style guides that broken into different visual elements such as color palette, typography, and imagery, which generate the look and feel of the logo. The main ... • 8. The Urban Renewal Project Of Paris, Caillebotte Painted... During the time of the urban renewal project of the Haussmannisation in Paris, Caillebotte painted Paris Street; Rainy Day (Fig. 1). Depicting little to no amount of communication and physical contact between the various figures walking through the intersection, this significantly unique painting provides a sense of isolation and detachment. Caillebotte utilises several techniques in order to construct a powerful two–point perspective in his painting. By determining where the lines of the objects in the painting recede towards and eventually meet along the horizon, the vanishing points can be located. As the illusion of a three–dimensional space is recreated onto a picture plane on a two–dimensional surface, the vanishing points are... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The smaller the figures are, the further away they are portrayed. Furthermore, when the parallel lines of an object on a picture plane extend toward a single point, the object will appear as though it is further away. Thus, these lines will eventually converge and disappear at a point in the implied distance. This is known as the vanishing point. Objects on a picture plane can appear larger or smaller, depending on the distance from the viewer. For instance, in Paris Street; Rainy Day, the architecture towering over the horizon provides a significant indication of where the vanishing points are situated. The lines representing the roof, mouldings, windows and balconies on the faГ§ade of the building in the middle left of the painting recede diagonally towards the horizon. If these lines visibly extended further, they would converge at two points on either side of the building along the horizon. More specifically, these vanishing points would be located by the umbrella on the left and just to the right of the lamp post along the horizon. Whether there are one, two, or three, vanishing points enable one to recreate a perceived point of view with form and depth in space. Perspective is a fundamental component of producing realistic landscapes, still–lifes, portraits, etc. As demonstrated through the exploration of the perspective in ... • 9. Analysis Of ' An Eye Who Is The Whole World Go Blind ' "An eye for an eye makes the whole world go blind." – Ghandi. The story of Dawn reinforces this well–known quote by demonstrating the heavy silence of murder and it's feeble justifications. A few years after the Holocaust, one of it's victims, Elisha, is recruited from his home in Paris as a terrorist in the city of Palestine. In his short time there, he has participated in violent group retaliation against the British, yet has never been forced to kill individually– until now. This story documents the tale of a young boy's struggle to come to term with the human's ability to commit cruel acts, as well as his struggle to justify the ultimate act of cruelty: murder. Within it's startling revelations of the human conscience, Dawn illuminates that the comforts of revenge are only temporary; murder terminates all answers. With this, the author, Elie Wiesel, is able crumble the foundations of terrorisms and the reasoning that hate can ever resolve hate in his first novel, called Dawn. Dawn takes place in Palestine, a place where the Jewish community wakes up to a red, vengeful sky. • 12. The Designal Analysis Of A Rainy Day Toys Brand Image Rainy Day Toys brand identity is determined through research and inspiration. The visual components that made up the design project are the logo design, presentation, and a questionnaire. A logo's purpose is to differentiate from other competitors. Also, the logo should show a unique quality or style that can accurately portray the business perspective (Airey, 2014).During the beginning stages of designing the logo, it was designed for children ages 1–4. The design challenge was figuring out how to connect the vision of the brand to reach the intended audience without being too literal. In connection to a children–based theme, the imagery of an umbrella had a symbolic interpretation of a rainy day. On the downside, symbolic marks can make less of a connection with the audience because the imagery isn't immediately recognizable and difficult to find a unique solution that works (Hardy, 2011). Throughout the design process, brainstorming became the important key to find that spark ofcreativity to design a logo that becomes emotionally connected to the target audience. In connection, creating a good logo should identify key information such as communicating the purpose of the brand, recognize what the brand provides, and help define target demographic (Workerbee, 2017). In that case, the objective should decide whether the visual style of the logo could support the message and also relate to the audience (Hardy, 2011). Because it is raining Gustave gave the men and women walking through the streets of paris an umbrella casting shadows on their face. There is also a shadow seen in the reflection of the water on the streets. The artwork shows lighter values with a pretty low contrast. I tend to be extremely productive on rainy days. I love the rain and it puts me in a mellow happy mood and when I'm in those moods I tend to do things to improve my day of life like cleaning and doing homework. "Tweaking the environment is about making the right behaviors a little bit easier and the wrong behavior a little bit harder." I am actually writing a majority of this paper today, which happens to be black Friday. Usually on black Friday my parents make my brother and I leave the house. My mom and dad go shopping early in the morning and wrap a lot of the presents later in the day. Since it was raining and I was kicked out of the house for the greater good, I figured I would trap myself in Starbucks and crank out as much work as I could. Having the change of setting and mood of the environment around me I was able to stay more focused than I would have if I were trying to do work on my kitchen table. I am a person who gets easily distracted so shaping the environment to make change easier for me would consist of trial and error for what works. Trying new things and recording their outcome, then sticking to what works best it a great was to shape the environment and behavior. • 16. Analysis Of Acquainted With The Night In Company of the Moon and Inner Sorrow, "Acquainted with the Night" In Robert Frost's poem, "Acquainted with the Night", there is a sense of melancholic loneliness of which the speaker seems to be content with. The reader sees a glimpse of his perpetual depression on a habitual night time walk. He starts by saying he is "one acquainted with the night" (line 1). He feels a sort of companionship with this time of day. Ironically enough, while most everyone else is asleep and quiet, he feels a sense of belonging. The speaker personifies the city through parallels of his own lonely depression. Having walked "out in rain–and back in rain" shows that despite the weather, he is persistent in his practice (line 2). The rain is symbolic of a gloomy mood or even a rough patch in one's life. In this case, the rain is parallel to his actuality. As it rains for an extended period, we can infer that the persona has suffered with depression for some time. Underlying causes of his sadness are not clear. However, the reader gets the impression he lives a life alone. His sense of being is encompassed in the imagery of the somber city streets. He is lonely, a continual moment of subtle dread haunts his life. The repetition of the phrase, "I have", at the beginning of the first four lines is significant as it shows all he experiences on these walks. The walk seems to be a nightly ritual, perhaps a way to clear his thoughts. Insomnia is often linked with feelings of emptiness in a depressed ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 19. The Nature Of Nature In The Rainy Day By Henry Wadsworth... Since the beginning of time, nature has always been there to support and nourish everything that inhabits it. This goes from the plants to the animals that live their everyday lives depending on nature's support. However nature has been around for so long that we humans have become accustomed to it always being there. This has caused us to take it for granted which is why we never stop to see the deeper meaning and lessons nature has to offer. Nature has many other important values beyond it being just a resource, it is also a teacher of many important life values. Many poets have written about the true beauty of nature and its deeper lessons. One of these poets is the famous Henry Wadsworth Longfellow, who became the first American writer to be honored with a bust in the poet's corner of London's Westminster Abbey for his amazing poems that inspired life in America. Much of his work have become classic American hero stories such as "Paul Revere's Ride" but he also touches upon the subject of nature and its values. In his first of three poems entitled "The Tide Rises, The Tide Falls" he shows how nature is powerful and beautiful compared to us weak humans. In his next poem entitled "The Rainy Day", Longfellow discusses how life has its good and bad times, but one should always look back to nature to help them conquer their challenges. His final poem named "My Cathedral" shows how nature's beauty and lessons are the most important thing in the world and should not be ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The story opens with an exaggerated description of all of the appliances within the household. The mother rabbit, trying to sleep, quickly gets fed up with the noise coming from her family's devices. To resolve this issue, she says "goodnight" to the family toys by throwing every last one them out of the window, then finally sending everyone off to bed. • 23. I Was Born On A Rainy Day I was born on a rainy day on April 29, 1996 to a young and good looking Mexican couple, in a hospital in busy Downtown Los Angeles. I grew up in a small cul–de–sac located in East Los Angeles and lived in a newly constructed two story, three bedroom home. The house was one block away from the local park, which was visible from my bedroom. At the age of five I moved from my home in East Los Angeles to South Gate which was located south of Los Angeles. When I turned five years old I moved to a new home, I realized the house was in a peaceful, clean, and crimeless area than where I used to live, but the house was an old looking house that was built in the 1950s. The house wasn't a two story house but just one floor. Inside of the home was full of old and dirty carpet, the carpet was extended to all the rooms and some of the carpet had mold like stains on it. There were only two rooms inside and I was forced to share a bedroom with my parents. The backyard of the home was full of dirt, lizards, cockroaches, and other insects. Overall, the home was worse than the one we used to own but it was located in a wonderful neighborhood full of delightful neighbors, a lot of trees and peace. The first day in our new home was a disaster. Cockroaches came out of the walls, toilet, through doors, and electrical sockets. • 24. The Things They Carried By Tim O ' Brien "My life is storytelling. I believe in stories, in their incredible power to keep people alive, to keep the living alive, and the dead." Tim O'Brien's novel, The Things They Carried, was filled with embellished stories and memories of war veterans. O'Brien's reasoning for writing that particular book was because he believed that while a memory can die with a person, written words are forever set in stone. In his book, War was every one of the soldier's enemy; It did not matter which side they fought on. War took men physically and mentally. O'Brien considered himself a coward because he chose war, but above all, he feared that his family would dishonor him. He was embarrassed not to go to war and ended up putting others' morals before his own. In addition to the theme of morality found in "Rainy River", it is also noticeable in the chapter "Church". During the war, O'Brien's unit had just come across a pagoda, a buddhist temple, and a pair of monks who lived there. The monks invited them to set up camp and helped the soldiers with water, cleaning guns, and more. Henry Dobbins chatted with Kiowa about joining the monks when the war was over, because he believed in the friendliness of religion by being amiable and helping others. Both exchanged words about what religion meant to them and Kiowa stated that he had always been religious and enjoyed the comfort and silence of being inside a church. "Setting up here," he says, "It's wrong. I don't care what, it's still a church"(O'Brien 116). Kiowa did not believe in setting up the unit's base operations inside of a holy place. Growing up religious, Kiowa's morals impacted his decisions and opinions made in war. Similar to the theme of morality, O'Brien discusses storytelling and memory in the chapter "Sweetheart of the Song Tra Bong." In his depiction as a narrator, he expresses the emotional portrayal of the recitation with abysmal descriptions such as "embarrassment for all of us", "feeling the shame", and "trying to push it away". Having mentioned his family's unawareness of his thoughts on the topic highlights the shame he has endured. This is important in understanding the importance of the event because having not told his family, those an individual presumably trusts with inner thoughts, enhances the depth of tone and meaning of the story. Given the emotional impact within the plot, the reader is instantly forced to picture the expressive imagery of the story. As the introduction unravels, the narrator expresses his loss of courage and bravery he once believed all people are thought to inherit during their childhood. As the theme of embarrassment is developed, a clear mental image of the severity of having to fight a battle that is not your own is drawn out for the reader. As a draft in the Vietnam War, O'Brien talks of a war he "hated". He defines this event in a dreadful and confusing light. Conveying his personal dissatisfaction of the combat by stating the Five W's, who, what where, when, why, which question the rationality and certainty, or lack thereof, of the "civil" war. Many of his own convictions were displayed by continuous questioning of events in ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 30. How Does The Speaker Use Imagery In The Rainy Day A booming echo of thunder bellows in the distance as the rain hurls upon the earth with no intent of ceasing, demolishing what would have been a gorgeous sunny day. Abruptly, the precipitation pauses, the sun glows upon the land, and the harmonious chirps of birds fill the air. In Henry Wadsworth Longfellow's poem "The Rainy Day," he depicts the immediate and long term effects of enduring hardships on the mind. Misfortunes are an inescapable element of the life of any individual. Symbolism and imagery convey the speaker's initial mindset that life will always remain dull and gloomy. For example, what begins as a sorrowful day transitions into the speaker's whole life, which he describes as "cold, and dark, and dreary," (7). Addressing the entirety of life in this manner identifies immense emotional unrest. This negative mindset influences the belief that there are no moments to cherish in life. In addition, the speaker discusses his unsettling thoughts that "cling to the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... These pleasurable moments are masked by symbolic clouds that represent the complications that make life seem dreary. This demonstrates the understanding that pain and discomfort are provisional. Moreover, the speaker continues to explain his belief that, "Into each life some rain must fall, / Some days must be dark and dreary," (14). The rain represents hardships and unpleasant days, which are now understood to be inevitable. Instead of fretting over these obstacles, the speaker learns to accept this fate. • 33. Descriptive Essay About Losing A Pet Among the saddest truths about this lifetime is this: A dog's life is significantly shorter than a human's life. I said goodbye to my beloved Miniature Schnauzer, Samson, on March 26th, 2017. He was ten years old. It is an opinion to say that losing a pet is like losing a member of the family. The fact is, though, it is an understatement. Dogs are unique in their own ways. As it is said, "Grief is the price you pay for love." And I paid a heavy priced that day. It is unbelievable how we take things for granted. Plans are made for each day, and we do not think twice about those plans. Unfortunately, they can change in the blink of an eye. Not a day goes by that I do not think about him. It is very tough to not break down when I think or talk about him. He was a special boy. For the longest time, there was a void feeling in my house. A hole was left in my family's hearts. I knew Samson would have wanted me to give his doggie bed and squeak toys to another deserving dog. He had a wet nose and a huge heart. Once, in the first week following his passing, I came through my front door and looked at the area where he would usually be sitting or lying. I called for him with the foolish notation that he would appear and come running to me. But of course, he did not. Then, I walked past his empty food bowls and tears started running down my face. It was a shattering reminder that he was gone and never coming back. Grief was exhausting and painful to say the least. The day after Samson died, I could not drag myself out of bed. • 34. How To Describe A Day On A Rainy Day Essay One cold wet afternoon in early November, the fog was so thick I felt a though I could reach out and grab it. It had been bright sunshine when we walked into that forest. Or should I say when we were chased into it. Earlier that morning it felt as though it would be just another ordinary Saturday. The birds were singing, the tractors were ploughing, but little did I know that at that point, this was no regular day for what was to come on the sunny day was very irregular indeed. Later on I decided to ring ben and see if he wanted to go on a walk together in the countryside. After about ten minutes we set of together through the fields and down the country lanes. All of a sudden ben stopped in the middle of the road and asked me if I had seen the forest ahead of us before. Confused I said no and we started up again and carried on with our walk. Out of nowhere a bull jumped out the hedgerow a chased ben and I towards the forest walls. We ran in and hid behind some trees close so tothe edge. The bull seemed to know that we were there but didn't seem to want to go into the forest. Ben moved his head signalling that we should find a way out of the forest I nodded and came out of where I was hiding I turned and saw the bull staring at me but he didn't move I suddenly noticed that the fog around us was growing thicker and I could no longer see ben in front of me. • 35. Paris Street, Rainy Day By Gustave Caillebotte Paris Street, Rainy Day, by Gustave Caillebotte, is an oil painting created in 1877. It is Gustave's most famous work. The purpose behind this painting is to show a different, and more truthful, side of the quickly modernizing streets of Paris. Most artists depicted Paris as lively and joyous during its modernization, with bright colors, parades, and lively people. Caillebotte, however, wanted to give his painting a sense of realism, showing the way Paris actually was most of the time. The Painting's purpose is to portray the melancholy and disinterest the people had with their new surroundings. It shows the uniformity of the people, the streets, and the buildings. It seems as if in a single moment, everything in the photo would have changed. The visual elements ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It uses pale blues, greens, yellows, and grays to emphasize mood and perspective. The lack of bright color sets the mood to be isolated, disinterested, and unenthusiastic. Furthermore, the color aids the perspective by fading into grey and blue as objects get further into the distance. Next, the artist uses lines to draw attention to different parts of the painting. The horizontal lines of the buildings and the streets draw the viewer's attention to the couple in the front. Their faces are turned to something in the distance, showing their disinterest to the shops next to them. The vertical line of the street lamp behind the couple separates them from the background of the painting. The vertical lines from the bottom center of the piece, gently curving along the curb, draws the attention to the back of the painting. Perspective was used the heaviest in the painting. The perspective is one point linear perspective. He enforces perspective by cutting the street lamp off with the couple. The way the couple is cut off at the knees and the man to the right of the painting is cut off, makes this painting appear photographic in nature. The focus of the painting appears to be more bulged than the things ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 36. Analysis Of The Book Night By Elie Wiesel McBride 1 Brandy McBride McAndrew ELA August 6, 2017 Night In the book Night by Elie Wiesel there are many instances where his use of imagery helps establish tone and purpose. For example Elie Wiesel used fire (sight) to represent just that. The fire helps prove that the tone is serious and mature. In no way did Wiesel try to lighten up the story about the concentration camps or the Nazis. His use of fire also helps show his purpose. "Never shall I forget that night, the first night in camp, that turned my life into one long night seven times scaled. Never shall I forget that smoke. Never shall I forget the small faces of the children whose bodies I saw... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... However he then stated "Where is he? This is where––hanging here from this gallows..." "that night the soup tasted like corpses" (page 65). Here Wiesel had two very different opinions on the soup. The way he described the soup in the first quote showed he was hungry and happy although once he realized the truth everything changed. He soon found the soup to be repulsing and he wanted nothing to do with it. For example when he says the soup tasted like corpses he means that they did not feel the satisfaction of eating because they just witnessed a horrific occurrence. This helps with tone because the reader can tell how quickly his tone went downhill. Last but not least is the sense of smell which Wiesel used throughout the book by explaining the burners and crematories. "In front of us, those flames. In the air, the smell of burning flesh. It must have been around midnight. We had arrived. In Birkenau" (28, Wiesel). Along with the smell Wiesel had witnessed and heard awful events that took place in the burners. "Over there. Do you see the chimney over there? Do you see it? And the flames, do you see them?" (Yes, we saw the flames.) "Over there, that's where they will take you. Over there will be your grave. You still don't understand? You sons of bitches. Don't you understand anything? You will be burned! Burned into a cinder! Turned to ashes" (30–31, Wiesel). This shows a different tone. It shows fear and worry because does anyone really ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 37. Caillebotte Paris Street A Rainy Day There are numerous clichГ© statements regarding art, such as "A picture is worth a thousand words" or "Beauty is in the eye of the beholder", certainly, this would apply when viewing two paintings depicting a rainy day in the late 19th Century. The first painting titled Paris Street; A Rainy Day (1877) is by Gustave Caillebotte and the second is by Childe Hassam titled A Rainy Day on Fifth Avenue (1893). By first glance, both paintings have some obvious similarities, most notable being people walking in the rain with horse drawn carriages in the background, but given the period the paintings may have very different interpretations by the viewer. The two artists use very differentpainting styles depicting their ideas of a rainy day. Caillebotte uses the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The streets are cobbled, the afternoon sky is cloud covered and shows a subtle gradation from rose–gray near the horizon to a cool gray toward the top, and everyone is walking under umbrellas. Many characters look as if they are out for a leisurely stroll, shopping, or just taking in the sights. Men wear top hats and long tailed coats while the women wear full–length dresses, all symbolic of the late 19th century. The artist used deep colors, making the painting appear darker; perhaps to evoke the feeling of a rainy day or that it is sometime between late afternoon and early evening. It is interesting to note that a fashionably dressed Parisian couple (a man and a woman) in the foreground of the painting is walking toward the viewer. They are portrayed in sharper detail than others are, while objects further away have fewer distinguishing features. This is especially noticeable when viewing the buildings; immediately you notice the painting blurs the further away or deeper into the picture it goes. They were not familiar people, it was not his usual trail, and he was not the expected champion. The first reason Matt should not have gone to the Indian village is that they were not familiar people. He did not understand their ways, their speech, or their dances. • 39. On The Rainy River Character Analysis Life can bring unexpected events that individuals might not be prepared to confront. This was the case in the short story "On The Rainy River" written by Tim O'Brien. Young Tim is drafted to the military to fight the American War in Vietnam. He faces the conflict of whether he should or should not go to war after being drafted. The thought of giving up the future he has worked so hard for and instead fight a war "for uncertain reasons" terrifies him. He must make the agonizing decision of whether to pursue his personal desire and in turn be shamed by society or conform, sacrificing his ideals in the process. Through the initial characterization of young Tim, O'Brien suggests that when faced with unexpected life changing dilemmas people will more often than naught end up clouded judgement and panic. Young Tim is ambitious and well educated, he is on his way to Harvard University on a scholarship. His life is heading in the best direction possible. This is until he receives the draft letter. His ideals "hurtling down a huge black funnel" and all he can do is "nothing ...wait." His helpless soon becomes rage, rage towards the government who's motives for the war "were shrouded in uncertainty". He is "too good for this war. Too smart, too compassionate, too everything." "Why don't they "draft some back–to–the–stone–age hawk?" Why must he, who doesn't support this "uncertain" war "put [his] own precious fluids on the line." As "the rage in [his] stomach" "burned down" he soon ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
