Johnson says that the greatest success has come from the improvements from the enhancements of
the overall school. The new school that is 2 years old cost an estimated 114 million dollars. On the
contrary the basketball team has been the highlight of the past couple years. He seems to think that
they are the focal point of where the revenue is being generated from whether the donors give
money, buy apparel etc. He thinks that it is so effective because the way the process went with the
new school being built then the basketball becoming a state's best team, while the academics
gradually rise. It seems that "everything came together at the right time type of thing". What is the
greatest challenge &/or recommendations for future administrators? – He said the greatest challenge
for future administrators would have to be understanding that everyone around you will not like you
for the decisions that you make or even not like you in general. Being able to handle individuals that
dislike your decision–making, while keeping things mutual at a professional level will be the most
challenging. – His future recommendations stated that getting into some sort of coaching or
administrator work so you can understand how to manage individuals and the craziness that comes
with supervision is beneficial. However he also said that getting your foot in the door with any

Lyon Arms Essay
How did you get connected with Signed, Sealed, Delivered?
It was because of my friend, Kevin Fair––he's a director who has directed so much of our stuff. I
was a lead in a Canadian TV series called Robson Arms. I did three seasons of that. It was a great
show 'cause the writers would involve upcoming writers and new writers and also hire new
directors. It was a great concept to push forward our voice and our culture and build identity in our
film and television history by giving these people a chance who had dedicated their lives to the
industry. Kevin's first gig directing was an episode of Robson Arms. Every episode, this series had a
different focus on one of the tenants of this building, and the episode he happened to do was one that

Now they have a face and a voice and a mannerism to the character whereas when that character
was originally conceived, it was just an idea in their head and on their paper. So in that way
indirectly, I think, all of us actors if we're really lucky to be able to work with these thoughtful
writers and creators, we do indirectly influence our characters because now the writers are thinking
about writing for us and enjoying it. The things that I do with the lines that Martha gives me––I'm

Hamop-Lyons
In this chapter, Hamp–Lyons tries to emphasize and encourage a better understanding of the
complexities involved in moving from an exam culture to a learning culture. Furthermore, she
affirms that the gaps are dynamic, highly contextualized, multidimensional. Hamp–Lyons adds that :
"Substantive change will only occur by creating connections between members of the different
cultures, so that they can meet and listen to each others' voices."(page 8) The first voice the author is
talking about is the one of the teachers themselves. She encourages the teachers' empowerment.
When teachers are powerless, they tend to classical norm–referenced testing. Moreover, when
talking about teachers' empowerment, the author enrol them in performance assessment

Managers are required to have skills which would support them to manage people in order to ensure

Technical skills, Human relations skills, and Conceptual skills (Nickels, 2016, p. 194). Technical

The Importance Of Pride In Fences By Agust Wilson
In history, a lot of great man have fallen do to pride and selfishness, In the bible it says Lucifer
clearly turned out to be so awed with his own particular excellence, knowledge, power, and position
that he started to want for himself the respect and transcendence that had a place with God alone.
The transgression that ruined Lucifer was self–created pride. I used that lesson from the bible to say
that pride can lead to major life consequences. In fences by Agust Wilson we see a perfect example
of that when it comes to the main character, Troy is shown as a man who has hurt the people who
are closest to him without even realizing it. He has acted in an unsensitive and heartless way
towards his significant other, Rose, his brother, Gabriel and his children, Cory and Lyons. Toward
the start of the story, Troy feels he has made them proud. He feels this all through the story. He
doesn't understand the amount he has harmed them. In the first scene of the play his oldest son
Lyons come to ask him for 10 dollars and answers no saying "You ain't gonna find me going and
asking nobody for nothing. I done spent too many years without"(Troy). Troy's biggest strength and
weakness is that he always looks out for his best interest and doesn't see anyone else's interest as
important as his own.

As Empire has been a trending show for the last year, it portrays a broken family that is hanging on
by a thread. A mother, and father who is no longer married, and with three grown children who is all
in the music industry. One child in particular, Andre Lyon, suffers from Bipolar Disorder. He came
to accept the diagnosis after he was institutionalized for having a mental breakdown and trying to
kill himself. Andre is seen as the smart and very religious, but yet still has this disability. However,
in light of the bipolar disorder, he shows that if you stay on track with medication along with proper
care it can be handled. Therefore, I believe this shows Andre in a positive light because he is still
able to function in a modern day society.

THE BATTLE OF WILSON'S CREEK
Introduction The Civil War in Missouri began in 1861 with The Battle of Wilson's Creek. On August
10, 1861 Union and Confederate forces clashed in a town southwest of Springfield and struggled
bitterly for control of Missouri in the Civil War's first year.1
History Missouri, with its strategic position on the Missouri and Mississippi rivers was viewed by
the federal government as vital to Union success. This created a unique set of border state politics
between Missouri's residents and its leaders.
In 1861, Missourians could be divided into three political categories, conditional Unionists,
secessionists and unconditional Unionists. The majority of Missourians were conditional Unionists

On June 11, 1861 Governor Jackson met with General Lyon in an attempt at compromise. After five
hours with no agreement Lyon declared war against all secessionists within Missouri and started
mobilizing his army. This began a two month campaign to drive the secessionists out of Missouri
and set into motion the events leading up to the Battle of Wilson's Creek.5 Planning/Preparation
Lyon, receiving reinforcements from Kansas, launched attacks that drove the newly formed
Missouri State Guard into the southwestern corner of the state. Battles at Boonville Missouri on
June 17 and Carthage on July 5 started to set the tone for battles to come. By August, more than
7,000 men were in Springfield Missouri under the command of General Lyon.6 Major General
Sterling Price, commander of the Missouri State Guard, needed help to oppose Lyon's forces in
Springfield. He called upon Confederate commander Ben McCulloch. McCulloch agreed and
moved 5,000 men into Missouri. This proved to be the first invasion of Confederate troops into
Union territory. After McCulloch's men joined Price's they set out for Springfield. During the

How Jaguar Regains Its Reputation

Case Study: How Jaguar Regains its Reputation
Jaguar Cars, Ltd., is one of the most famous luxury automobile manufacturers in the world. With its
sleek lines, leather interiors, and smooth engines, Jaguar is the car of choice for wealthy brokers
who work on Wall Street in New York and the nouveau riche in Japan who shop on Tokyo's Ginza.
The driving force behind Jaguar, William Lyons, was born on September 4, 1901, in Blackpool, a
town in the county of Lancashire, England. Uninterested in academics as a teenager, he was on the
verge of entering the shipbuilding industry when his father encouraged him to work at Crossley

assumed total control of all its operations. Although the sidecar business remained lucrative, Lyons

Essay On William Lyon Mackenzie King
William Lyon Mackenzie King
"Help those who cannot help themselves" was William Lyon Mackenzie King's life motto as a child.
William Lyon Mackenzie, better known as Mackenzie King was the 10th Prime Minister of Canada.
Mackenzie was the leader of the liberal party and is currently Canada's longest serving Prime
Minister at 22 years. In this essay I will argue why I believe Mackenzie King should be the next
Prime Minister of Canada. I believe William Lyon Mackenzie King should be the next Prime
Minister of Canada due to his lengthy leadership experiences, his high degree of intelligence and
how he was able to define Canadian Independence.
The first reason I believe William Lyon Mackenzie King should be the next Prime Minister of
Canada is because of his high degree of intelligence. Mackenzie King was born in Kitchener,
Ontario and was raised up in a family of politics. Mackenzie's grandfather was was the first mayor
of Toronto and had led the Upper Canadian Rebellions. William Lyon Mackenzie King has earned

The Lyons Play Essay
The Lyons by: Nicky Silver, directed by: Keely Enright, September 13th 7:30PM shown at the
Woolfe Street Playhouse, Charleston SC. The story is about a small family who are brought together
on tragic terms. Ben the patriarch has been diagnosed with cancer. As the story progresses each
character's secrets are revealed. What one finds in the end, is a very dysfunctional family. The Lyons
does an amazing job portraying the modern family that has grown sour over the years. The acting of
the production was very well done; each actor was realistic and natural. The play had two lead roles:
Rita Lyons (mother) played by Samille Basler and Ben (father) played by Nat Jones. Lisa Lyons

To describe the children is another story; Pickens plays a spoiled son, a washed up writer, whose
insecurities get the best of him. Andrews portrays a daughter on her last leg, just getting out of an
abusive relationship, and recovering addict.
In the opening act, scene one Besler (Rita) and Jones (Ben) argue over changing the furniture and
layout of the living room. Besler is insistent about changing everything in their living room, even
referring to the couch was "a washed out color of dashed hopes," Jones insists on keeping things the
way they are. Despite the circumstances, Besler is still set on changing the color scheme, even after
Jones is long gone. The beginning argument really sets the tone for the rest of the play; a scathing
and laugh out loud comedy. The play takes place in two separate settings, one in the hospital room
and the other in a vacant apartment, both located in New York City. Each set was pretty
straightforward very realistic, nothing out of the ordinary. The hospital room resembled something
out of real life. The most symbolic prop of the play is the hospital bed used in both acts. Ben the
patriarch is bed ridden in the beginning act, in the final act Ben and Curtis switch places, reversing
the roles of both, throwing a twist into the plot. The vacant apartment foreshadows the fate of

Analysis Of Mental Illness By Lexi Lyon
Despite the recent advancements in education and medical care, mental illness continues to thrive in
modern society, destroying the lives of an estimated 60 million individual worldwide, which is
precisely what Lexi Lyon discusses in Sustaining the Stigma, where she implores that healthy
individuals around the world recognize the real and detrimental affects that mental health has.
Unlike other health diagnoses, mental illnesses are not openly discussed nor does the majority of
society accept it as a real health issue. Lyon explains that the culmination of false stereotypes,
prejudice, and a lack of understanding have led to the perpetuation of ill–willed treatment toward
those who suffer from illnesses that affect an individual's way of thinking, ... Show more content on

Censorship At Lyon Case
1. I would love to introduce an advice column to the newspaper. Personally, my mornings are never
complete without reading advice columns in the Metro newspaper because it allows insight into
another person's life, and if the advice is written well, the reply is often humorous in nature but still
inspirational and entertaining to read.
2. If this were an idea supported by the other newspaper staff, I would suggest that the Lyon begins
the process of moving away as a school–sponsered publication and as a individual company, similar
to Marc Garneau's publication. I believe that if this were possible, the school would have less
influence over the censorship present in nearly every article, such as Irina's visible disability piece.

William Lyon Phillips Definition Of Gentleman
"This is the first test of a gentleman: his respect for those who can be of no possible value to him.",
is a statement made by William Lyon Phillips. To me, this statement means a true gentleman will be
tested most when he is up against someone who matters the least to him. Maybe this statement
insinuates a person or people who are hindering success. A man will be tempted to spout out
disrespectful things to anyone who doesn't deserve it, but the truest gentleman can resist temptation.
Mostly everyone has a different definition of a gentleman. My idea of a true gentleman is someone
who makes it a goal for everyone's happiness over his own. A gentleman also makes it his own
responsibility to be presentable and dedicated to important things in his life. If a gentleman is
dedicated to something it shows he can care for and handle things properly; that shows
responsibility for what the gentleman cares about. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

dictionary. The second definition I have listed is my favorite explanation of a gentleman. I especially

Irenaeus Of Lyon : A Influential Theologian
Irenaeus of Lyon was a very influential theologian during the second century. From his defining
works changing Christians views on Gnosticism, to his letters concerning Roman priest and
controversial topics, Irenaeus began to change the view of Christianity. Irenaeus was born in
Smyrna, Asia Minor around 120 AD (Olson, 68). He was tutored by the famous Polycarp, who
learned from the Apostle John. During his life, Irenaeus spent much of his time writing to different
leaders as well as writing to Christians, as a whole, dealing with the issue of Gnosticism. Adversus
Haereses and Proof of the Apostolic Preaching are two works, by Irenaeus, that we have been able
to receive complete transcript of (Poncelet, 2016). Irenaeus also has many works that we only have
partial transcripts of. For example, On the Subject of Knowledge, On the Ogdoad, "a treatise on
schism," and letters to the Pope Victor, are a few of the partial transcripts of Irenaeus works
(Poncelet, 2016). Irenaeus death was one that has a twist of mystery. One thing, known for sure, is
he was killed during a Christian massacre in Lyons, during the year 202. What remains a mystery is
the manner in which he died. According to Olson, "he was counted a martyr and saint by both
Greek–speaking Christians of the East and Latin–speaking Christians of the Western half of the
Roman Empire" (70). Irenaeus life was one of significance, especially when it came to his writings
on Gnosticism and the theory of Redemption.

The Holocaust : The Survivors Of Jews And The Holocaust
January 30th, 1933 was the beginning of an event that shook the world. It was a time period where
death was peace to the torture distributed to millions of people. This event was the Holocaust, where
Jewish people were targeted specifically by German leaders who wanted to show the world an
example of how to exterminate so, called 'pests'. Millions of Jews tortured and killed by the Nazi
regime. Nazi nationalism was the belief issued over eastern Europe in a time period where being
marginalized and a minority signaled death. Nazi leaders carried out orders to round up these people
and place them in death camps to exterminate them once for all. From the commander in chief to a
measly guard, they were carrying out orders to kill millions of people. May 8th, 1945 the end to pain

Symbolism In The Courtship Of Mr Lyon
In Angela Carter's The Courtship of Mr.Lyon, feminist themes are portrayed through the use of
symbolism. The symbols are portrayed through the plot reversal of the classic tale, The Beauty and
the Beast. By portraying the beauty and the beast opposites, Carter breaks traditional gender roles
typically associated with fairy tales. The Beast is fragile, vulnerable, and ultimately ends up being
helpless. While Beauty proves herself to be strong willed, confident, and eventually, aware of the
oppressive and objectifying society she lives in.
At the beginning of the story, Beauty is defined through objectifying feminine attributes. In the first
line, Beauty is looking "outside her kitchen window "(Carter 137), her being in the kitchen
represents conformity to feminine stereotypes. She is then described as being so pale that "you
would have thought she was made of all snow" (carter 137). The whiteness of the snow symbolizes

Typically, the countryside represents purity and feminine innocence in being separated from the city,
which is associated with masculinity and the hustle and bustle of working men. Though in The
courtship of Mr. Lyon, Beauty lives in the city, while the Beast is isolated in the countryside.
Ultimately, the Beast's seclusion from the city causes him to become seriously ill and near the point
of death, and when Beauty is spends too much time in the city, she becomes increasingly insensitive
and loses her self identity. This strengthens Carter's argument that males and females need to
incorporate into their lifestyle aspects of both their masculine and feminine attributes in order to

Toni The Superhero
Toni the Superhero is a story book introducing the main character, Toni, to first time readers. The
very first panel shows Toni and then tells us that he's a superhero, then it goes on showing us some
of Toni's favorite activities. Toni is shown playing with his friends, eating healthy food, swimming
in a swimming pool, rescuing an animal and helping his mom around the house. The book then
shows us Toni panel in his Superhero costume with a "T" across the chest and telling us that Toni is
terrific. This is a really cute storybook; my favorite thing about it is that Toni, a young African
American child is portrayed as a superhero. Already the book earns props for diversity of its
characters. It also shows Toni rescuing a stranded cat and helping out, generally being friendly and
playing well with others. It sends a very positive message that terrific kids do good things. An
impressionable young child will see that and want to be as awesome as Toni. ... Show more content

Namely, right in the beginning it tells us that Toni is a superhero, but doesn't really tell us what his
superpower is. You could argue that saving animals, helping out and generally being an agreeable
little guy is his superpower. This isn't a major issue as kids in the intended age range for this book
aren't likely to question it, but I can imagine an older child bringing it up. Another (also minor) issue
is the font and graphics; while I loved the character drawings themselves, I thought the title font had
a bit of a home spun feel to it and could be improved upon slightly to make it more eye catching and

the relationship between Jamal and Luscious to channel Beliefs and Values of homophobia in the

Essay On Lyon County Sheriff
The Lyon County Sheriff's Office is a place I walked afterschool to meet my mom or dad growing
up, and where I have sat at wee hours of the morning waiting for my dad to finish a report so we
could get back in his patrol car and cruise around on a ride along night. It is still a place where I am
stopped and asked about plans for my future, and where I smile as people comment on how tall I
have gotten. Here is where the parents of my peers, and my dad work together to protect us and
strangers, while us 'cop kids' are at school. This is where my dad works during most holidays, and
where he comes from in uniform, to games, birthdays, and even church on occasion. All my life I

Though it was a rough time after the divorce, and a more difficult time adjusting to new people, I am
extremely grateful for my step parents. I am now the oldest of seven children, a majority of them
half siblings.
There are many people who work or have worked with my dad at the Sherriff's Office or even the
Police Department, who have impacted my life. One of these people is Josh Barnes. My parents
used to take us to their barbeques, and we would play with his two sons Ryan and Justin. After my
parents divorced, we lived just a few streets away from them with my dad and stepmom for a couple
years. Two years ago my mom and step dad took my sister and baby brother up into the hills a
couple miles for family pictures. It was winter time and there was a lot of snow, but we had been up
in the snow before. We ended up getting stuck about 10 miles up, it started getting dark, and we had
zero cell service. My mom got ahold of someone, and Josh caught wind of the situation through my
dad and they both drove up to us and took everyone home. He didn't need to, but he helped. My dad
went to the academy with a man named Brad Pope, and they both landed jobs here in Yerington.
Brad's wife at the time used to babysit my sister and me, and we would play with their two toddlers

Analysis Of Tongues By John Lyons
Out of curiosity, two friends decide to sneak through the back door of a recently deserted old
mansion. They explore in silence for fear of the unknown. The first person ahead constantly looks
back at the second person. What is bound to go through the second person's mind? Is it unsafe
ahead? Is something wrong? What is the person ahead trying to communicate? That is an example
of how a horse would feel when led by a human who looks back at him. Remember, horses rely on
good leadership for survival. So, with the human constantly looking back, it tells the horse that the
person is not safe to follow. The human is not a leader. Leadership is guiding another with
confidence. Clear communication achieves harmony with the horse through body language ... Show

Humans typically think of horses as just animals. Firstly, horses are intelligent creatures with
different personalities, abilities, and sensitivities. Humans should realize that each horse has a
different need and that each training requirement is different. In the second place, people often
comment that their horses are too senseless to need a choice. A while back, I read a story about a
mare who was dying from fighting an illness and exhaustion. Before she died, she walked for days
across exposed moors leading her foal to the safety of a farm where she died less than twenty–four
hours later. She died after knowing her foal was safe. Does that sound like a senseless horse? A
horse with that much intelligence, to have no choice during training? It is inconceivable. Horses are
not incapable of understanding communication; it is up to the human not to send out mixed signals.
In the third place, when the human sends the horse away during equine training, the person is giving
the horse a choice. Either the horse will stay away or come back to safety. When the person gives
the horse a choice, the horse is very willing to work. Another example is when a horse is standing
next to the human, and the horse starts to bump the person with his head; signs of trying to dominate
the human, the person will move the horse away. The first inclination of the animal is to come back

Summary Of ' People Make Choices '
Kameron Jarvis
Mrs. Bowden
English Two Honors
17 March 2016
"People make Choices" Introduction:
From 1941 to 1945, The Holocaust took place in many countries, and millions of people died. Adolf
Hitler came to power in 1933 in Germany, and had an "Aryan Race" which was the Nazi's idea of a
master race. They thought that people with blonde hair and blue eyes were perfect. Adolf Hitler
developed a plan called the "Final Solution," which was to kill mostly Jewish people, but also
anyone who did not fit his standards. Hitler rounded up all of the people he disliked, and he placed
them in concentration camps and death camps. In these awful places, these prisoners got tortured not
only physically, but also mentally. In France, many Jews were being deported to Germany, however;
there was so many, that they had to stay in concentration camps in France. The survival rate in
France was higher than any country in Europe during the Holocaust. Two very similar people who
made very different choices were in France during the Holocaust. A priest named Andre Trocme
made a good choice to save many Jews, and a SS officer named Klaus Barbie made a bad choice to
kill thousands of Jews ("The Holocaust").
1st body paragraph: Andre Trocme was born on April 7, 1901 in northern France. When he was a
child, he spoke his mind, and did whatever he felt like he needed to do, which led him to be an
objector during World War 1. He attended seminary school in Paris as he was growing up, and then

Anaitis And Lyon: A Short Story
Anaitis and Lyon had been married for several years with two kids Hakate and Cornus. The castle
was no longer a happy place anymore as Anaitis and Lyon stood before the Master of this land, it
was now official. They were no longer an item. All of the power had been granted to Anaitis and
Lyon and they were immediately to leave the land and never be seen again! Dragons were spitting
fire out of excitement and unicorns prancing around the courtroom. Hekate and Cronus embraced
one another with a tight hug. Their misery was finally coming to an end. No one, including his
children, had liked Lyon because he was cruel. Lyon would kill off animals and even people for no
reason, he did not have one nice bone in his body and never used his power or position for good.
Lyon was pleased that he was no longer married to Anaitis, but he was disappointed and ashamed
that he had gotten banned from a land that he felt was his. Most would say this was karma and he
had it coming. Lyon returned to the castle, accompanied by guards, to collect the belongings that
were still his. After exiting the castle he was tossed off of the land and the gates were closed. There
was no way he would get back in there; or so everyone thought. Months went by and it was almost

The Courtship Of Mr. Lyon By Angela Carter
"The Courtship of Mr. Lyon" – Angela Carter This short story involves almost an identical plot to
the original Beauty and the Beast. The theme expressed throughout both is that beauty is what's on
the inside, rather than what's on the outside, which is portrayed through the main character, Beauty.
The author used the circumstances of Beauty's father to show that "her sweetness and her gravity"
was transformed into "a lacquer of the invincible prettiness that characterizes certain pampered,
exquisite, expensive cats" by his restored wealth (Carter 143). While the story involves elements of
storytelling just by following the plot of the original tale, it's lacking emotion. The author of this
short story allowed Beauty to chose whether she would

Lyon College Commitment To Diversity Analysis
Campus community,
In the wake of the recent presidential election a wave of discomfort, despair, and devastating anxiety
has swept across some of our citizens. Protests and riots have emerged across the U.S. in an effort to
make this realized apprehension heard. Those who feel negatively impacted by the election may feel
lost or uncertain of the future for their families, friends, or for themselves. They may feel as if their
voices have gone unheard. The diverse America is a dream that will continue on past this election.
Diversity is a cornerstone of this country, and is also a defining part of our campus. Lyon College is

Lyon College Commitment to Diversity
All members of Lyon College benefit from the talents and experiences of our peers, from the mutual
respect we exercise, and from the responsibilities we take for our actions under our Honor and
Social codes. Because of this, each member of the College deserves equal opportunity to learn,
teach, and grow without facing intolerance and injustice. Lyon College fosters mutual respect and
understanding among and for all people of different cultures, ethnicities, races, religions, sexual

does so by promoting a definition of diversity and acceptance dynamic enough to grow in the future.
To ensure such growth, the SGA has created a standing Diversity Committee with a charge that
includes the following:
Assessing the College campus environment for any instances of hostility that may arise from a lack
of commitment to diversity by communicating with peers,
Promoting understanding and appreciation throughout the College for all aspects of diversity,

The Success And Success Of Sir Robert Gordon Menzies
Sir Robert Gordon Menzies was an Australian politician who served two terms as Prime Minister,
from 1939 to 1941, and, from 1949 until 1966. This amounts to a total of eighteen years, which is a
record for time serving as Australian prime minister (WEB). In this essay, I shall delineate and
analyse the secrets to Menzies' success, which I attribute to several factors, many of which were
beyond the control of Menzies himself. Even before entering politics, Menzies developed talents
that would serve him well for political success. Namely, during his time studying and practising law,
Menzies developed a particularly strong oratorical ability which benefited him throughout his
career. Additionally, it is clear from his days as a student that Menzies ... Show more content on

It was at this time that Murdoch once again threw his support and influence behind Menzies, which
can be seen in an article that he wrote for the 'Herald' which was titled "This persecution of Menzies

UAP under Hughes' leadership acted to further damage the reputation of Hughes which saw
Menzies regaining support from members of parliament, and Menzies once again found himself as
the leader of the UAP (GRIFFEN 5). From here, Murdoch set to work promoting and trying to bring
about the creation of a new political party, a unification of non–labour parties with could
legitimately challenge the labour party (GRIFFEN 5). In the wake of the 1943 federal election,
Murdoch commented in the 'Herald' that the failed election campaign by non–labour parties

formed out of the present opposition parties" (MURDOCH 1943b p4 GRIFFEN

Dorothea Dix And Mary Lyons
During the nineteenth century, Women began to have an important role in natural rights and female
education. Dorothea Dix and Mary Lyons spent their life fighting to help better society. Dorothea
Dix was tireless in exposing mistreatment of those who were diagnosed with mental illness or who
were institutionalized in the 19th century. She helped effect change for thousands of people. Mary
Lyon was a female educator. She founded Mount Holyoke College, the first women's college.
Dorothea Lynde Dix was born on April 4, 1802, in Hampden, Maine (1). She grew up in a religious
home with her two siblings and her mother, Mary Bigelow Dix and her father, Joseph Dix. With her
father being a distributor of religious tracts, Dix had to help stich and paste them together. She did
not enjoy this chore. At the age of 12, Dix left her home and moved in with her aunt. She left to
escape from an emotionally absent mother and an abusive father (2). Dorothea Dix had a hard
childhood and became sensitive to others hardships due to the abuse of her father. After leaving,
"She began teaching school at age 14. In 1819, she returned to Boston and founded the Dix
Mansion, a school for girls, along with a charity school that poor girls could attend for free. She
began writing textbooks, with her most famous, Conversations on Common Things, published in
1824 (1)." She enjoyed teaching and was accustomed to it due to having to watch her siblings during

1. Recommendations for Geographical distance
Geographical distance is a barrier than cannot be erased but its effects can be reduced with a better
use of the communication channels.
One issue that it was causing was that some subunits did not feel like they were receiving as much
information as productions units get. This was due to the fact the priorities were different from
subsidiaries to subsidiaries.
Bobst should for example make a further use of its Intranet since it's a communication channels that
every employees in the group has access to. Thus, subsidiaries would feel less frustrated not to have
access to all the relevant information. Moreover, to prevent teams from feeling neglected, the
Intranet should features more languages.
Additionally, the feeling of isolation of certain subsidiaries in certain decisions could be reduced if
Bobst favored more videoconferences to involve them in the decision making process.

Mary Lyon Case Study
Most people, rich or poor, have dreams that they want to accomplish in their lifetime, some want to
be doctors or lawyers while others want to be able to provide for their family. These people cannot
accomplish their dreams by sitting on a couch eating potato chips, they have to get up and get
working. Mary Lyon is one of many people who worked long and hard to accomplish her dreams
which was to provide more opportunities for women in advanced education. Even though she did
not have the most the most stable childhood or the best upbringing she kept true to her standards and

Mary Lyon has worked in many different places in many different fields which later on helped her
open the first women's college. After Ms. Lyon's reputation as a teacher increased by her new
teaching methods, the Adams Female Academy invited her to teach there. She worked there for
about six years, than left to go to work full–time at Ipswich which would provide more experience
and teach new and different methods. Mary Lyon and her friend from Adams Female Academy
molded Ipswich into one of the best boarding schools in the northeast. Unfortunately, after a while,
Ipswich lost a lot of its funding and even though Ms. Lyon and her friend, Ms. Grant, tried to raise
money, they were unsuccessful. Ipswich closed down in 1839, but because of the school's closing
Ms. Lyon then became determined to create her own school of higher education for all women. Her
experience from Ipswich helped her raise enough money to try to start the plans for the new school
with the help others. She traveled to many other schools to note what the best school needs and she
discovered that the students need to be prepared to do college level work to actually succeed in
college. Since many women weren't ready for that kind of pressure and work, Ms. Lyon created tests
to examine each student to determine what level they are on. Finally, on November 8, 1837 after
years of working and creating plans and designs for her future school, Ms. Lyon opened the doors to
her new school, Mount Holyoke. This was her long and difficult journey to eventually opening her
own school. Since, Mary Lyon did so much for women's education, she is named as a reformer. A
reformer is a person who is determined to bring positive change to politics or society. Her work

The Lyon Statement Of Violence Analysis
Forgiveness and Reconciliation in Interpersonal Conflicts In this essay, I analyze The Seville
Statement of Violence, and discuss the false belief that conflict is embedded into human nature
through violence and aggression, along with the counter arguments against this. Instead, I concur
that conflict is a social construction. I then discuss how the solution to conflict is through the path of
forgiveness and reconciliation. Considering Gary Hawk's Transcending Transgression: Forgiveness
and Reconciliation, I discuss the differences between the two words and explain the value of
forgiving and reconciling with an offender in the face of conflict. Using John Paul Lederach's "The
Moral Imagination, I examine the possible methods used to be able to reach forgiveness and
reconciliation. To conclude, I provide an example of an interpersonal conflict and how I found a
solution to it through forgiveness and reconciliation. Overall, although conflict continues to exist,
the only way to find peace is through forgiveness, An underlying question about human nature, in
regard to conflict, is if are humans naturally aggressive creatures, thus not allowing for peace. In

The new school that is 2 years old cost an estimated 114 million dollars. On the contrary the basketball team has been the highlight of the past couple years. He seems to think that they are the focal point of where the revenue is being generated from whether the donors give money, buy apparel etc. He thinks that it is so effective because the way the process went with the new school being built then the basketball becoming a state's best team, while the academics gradually rise. It seems that "everything came together at the right time type of thing". What is the greatest challenge &/or recommendations for future administrators? – He said the greatest challenge for future administrators would have to be understanding that everyone around you will not like you for the decisions that you make or even not like you in general. Being able to handle individuals that dislike your decision–making, while keeping things mutual at a professional level will be the most challenging. – His future recommendations stated that getting into some sort of coaching or administrator work so you can understand how to manage individuals and the craziness that comes with supervision is beneficial. However he also said that getting your foot in the door with any job/opportunity can change the process of achieving the goal of becoming an ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

He was still in his work clothes. In the kitchen the smell of spaghetti was being made. You can tell the the years working in the electric company has taken it's tole on him he does not look like a track runner any more. I started by asking him, what age did he go to college, then he looked up at me and said 18. He attended the University of Hawai`i at Manoa college. • 9. Lyon Arms Essay How did you get connected with Signed, Sealed, Delivered? It was because of my friend, Kevin Fair––he's a director who has directed so much of our stuff. I was a lead in a Canadian TV series called Robson Arms. I did three seasons of that. It was a great show 'cause the writers would involve upcoming writers and new writers and also hire new directors. It was a great concept to push forward our voice and our culture and build identity in our film and television history by giving these people a chance who had dedicated their lives to the industry. Kevin's first gig directing was an episode of Robson Arms. Every episode, this series had a different focus on one of the tenants of this building, and the episode he happened to do was one that figured heavily on my ... Now they have a face and a voice and a mannerism to the character whereas when that character was originally conceived, it was just an idea in their head and on their paper. So in that way indirectly, I think, all of us actors if we're really lucky to be able to work with these thoughtful writers and creators, we do indirectly influence our characters because now the writers are thinking about writing for us and enjoying it. The things that I do with the lines that Martha gives me––I'm not saying they're worse or I'm not saying they're better––but they're different than how any other actor would do it. All of us are unique in how we interpret these characters and how they talk and think. In that sense, I've had input, but with Martha, she has created this great character, and I have no worries about what she has written for ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Furthermore, she affirms that the gaps are dynamic, highly contextualized, multidimensional. Hamp–Lyons adds that : "Substantive change will only occur by creating connections between members of the different cultures, so that they can meet and listen to each others' voices."(page 8) The first voice the author is talking about is the one of the teachers themselves. She encourages the teachers' empowerment. When teachers are powerless, they tend to classical norm–referenced testing. The Importance Of Pride In Fences By Agust Wilson In history, a lot of great man have fallen do to pride and selfishness, In the bible it says Lucifer clearly turned out to be so awed with his own particular excellence, knowledge, power, and position that he started to want for himself the respect and transcendence that had a place with God alone. The transgression that ruined Lucifer was self–created pride. I used that lesson from the bible to say that pride can lead to major life consequences. In fences by Agust Wilson we see a perfect example of that when it comes to the main character, Troy is shown as a man who has hurt the people who are closest to him without even realizing it. He has acted in an unsensitive and heartless way towards his significant other, Rose, his brother, Gabriel and his children, Cory and Lyons. Toward the start of the story, Troy feels he has made them proud. He feels this all through the story. He doesn't understand the amount he has harmed them. In the first scene of the play his oldest son Lyons come to ask him for 10 dollars and answers no saying "You ain't gonna find me going and asking nobody for nothing. I done spent too many years without"(Troy). Troy's biggest strength and weakness is that he always looks out for his best interest and doesn't see anyone else's interest as important as his own. Laguerre 2 Lyon is a musician by custom and thought rather then getting a regular job he'd hone his music. Lyons trusted that he would get something out of it. Troy ... This piece was made in 1982 and imitates that of the Greek Bronze. The artwork is a 2–dimensional photograph of the award winning body builder, Lisa Lyon. The photo is in black and white and shows Lisa Lyon in a sort of stance. There seems to be a source of light coming from the right side of the photo that sort of brightens up the front of her body that is facing the right. With its sleek lines, leather interiors, and smooth engines, Jaguar is the car of choice for wealthy brokers who work on Wall Street in New York and the nouveau riche in Japan who shop on Tokyo's Ginza. The driving force behind Jaguar, William Lyons, was born on September 4, 1901, in Blackpool, a town in the county of Lancashire, England. He assumed total control of all its operations. Although the sidecar business remained lucrative, Lyons kept careful watch over this portion of the firm, and thought it best to organize its operations as an entirely separate entity, called the Swallow Coachbuilding Company, in 1935. With the administrative duties out of the way, and a reorganization of the company complete, Lyons turned his attention to advertising. He wanted a brand new name for his cars that would capture the imagination of the motoring enthusiast. The Nelson advertising agency, hired by Lyons to create a new image for his automobiles, selected the name Jaguar. The story is about a small family who are brought together on tragic terms. Ben the patriarch has been diagnosed with cancer. As the story progresses each character's secrets are revealed. What one finds in the end, is a very dysfunctional family. The Lyons does an amazing job portraying the modern family that has grown sour over the years. The acting of the production was very well done; each actor was realistic and natural. The play had two lead roles: Rita Lyons (mother) played by Samille Basler and Ben (father) played by Nat Jones. To describe the children is another story; Pickens plays a spoiled son, a washed up writer, whose insecurities get the best of him. Andrews portrays a daughter on her last leg, just getting out of an abusive relationship, and recovering addict. Besler is insistent about changing everything in their living room, even referring to the couch was "a washed out color of dashed hopes," Jones insists on keeping things the way they are. Despite the circumstances, Besler is still set on changing the color scheme, even after Jones is long gone. The beginning argument really sets the tone for the rest of the play; a scathing and laugh out loud comedy. The play takes place in two separate settings, one in the hospital room and the other in a vacant apartment, both located in New York City. Each set was pretty straightforward very realistic, nothing out of the ordinary. The hospital room resembled something out of real life. The most symbolic prop of the play is the hospital bed used in both acts. Ben the patriarch is bed ridden in the beginning act, in the final act Ben and Curtis switch places, reversing the roles of both, throwing a twist into the plot. Analysis Of Mental Illness By Lexi Lyon Despite the recent advancements in education and medical care, mental illness continues to thrive in modern society, destroying the lives of an estimated 60 million individual worldwide, which is precisely what Lexi Lyon discusses in Sustaining the Stigma, where she implores that healthy individuals around the world recognize the real and detrimental affects that mental health has. Unlike other health diagnoses, mental illnesses are not openly discussed nor does the majority of society accept it as a real health issue. She goes on to discuss how mental illnesses are physical impossible to diagnosis via tests, claiming that "because this illness is a sham there is no way to diagnosis it," proving that it is false. Personally, my mornings are never complete without reading advice columns in the Metro newspaper because it allows insight into another person's life, and if the advice is written well, the reply is often humorous in nature but still inspirational and entertaining to read. 2. If this were an idea supported by the other newspaper staff, I would suggest that the Lyon begins the process of moving away as a school–sponsered publication and as a individual company, similar to Marc Garneau's publication. William Lyon Phillips Definition Of Gentleman "This is the first test of a gentleman: his respect for those who can be of no possible value to him.", is a statement made by William Lyon Phillips. To me, this statement means a true gentleman will be tested most when he is up against someone who matters the least to him. Maybe this statement insinuates a person or people who are hindering success. A man will be tempted to spout out disrespectful things to anyone who doesn't deserve it, but the truest gentleman can resist temptation. Mostly everyone has a different definition of a gentleman. My idea of a true gentleman is someone who makes it a goal for everyone's happiness over his own. A gentleman also makes it his own responsibility to be presentable and dedicated to important things in his life. If a gentleman is dedicated to something it shows he can care for and handle things properly; that shows responsibility for what the gentleman cares about. ... From his defining works changing Christians views on Gnosticism, to his letters concerning Roman priest and controversial topics, Irenaeus began to change the view of Christianity. Irenaeus was born in Smyrna, Asia Minor around 120 AD (Olson, 68). He was tutored by the famous Polycarp, who learned from the Apostle John. During his life, Irenaeus spent much of his time writing to different leaders as well as writing to Christians, as a whole, dealing with the issue of Gnosticism. Adversus Haereses and Proof of the Apostolic Preaching are two works, by Irenaeus, that we have been able to receive complete transcript of (Poncelet, 2016). Irenaeus also has many works that we only have partial transcripts of. For example, On the Subject of Knowledge, On the Ogdoad, "a treatise on schism," and letters to the Pope Victor, are a few of the partial transcripts of Irenaeus works (Poncelet, 2016). Irenaeus death was one that has a twist of mystery. One thing, known for sure, is he was killed during a Christian massacre in Lyons, during the year 202. What remains a mystery is the manner in which he died. According to Olson, "he was counted a martyr and saint by both Greek–speaking Christians of the East and Latin–speaking Christians of the Western half of the Roman Empire" (70). Irenaeus life was one of significance, especially when it came to his writings on Gnosticism and the theory of Redemption. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The symbols are portrayed through the plot reversal of the classic tale, The Beauty and the Beast. By portraying the beauty and the beast opposites, Carter breaks traditional gender roles typically associated with fairy tales. The Beast is fragile, vulnerable, and ultimately ends up being helpless. While Beauty proves herself to be strong willed, confident, and eventually, aware of the oppressive and objectifying society she lives in. At the beginning of the story, Beauty is defined through objectifying feminine attributes. In the first line, Beauty is looking "outside her kitchen window "(Carter 137), her being in the kitchen represents conformity to feminine stereotypes. She is then described as being so pale that "you would have thought she was made of all snow" (carter 137). The whiteness of the snow symbolizes her purity. The first person ahead constantly looks back at the second person. What is bound to go through the second person's mind? Is it unsafe ahead? Is something wrong? What is the person ahead trying to communicate? That is an example of how a horse would feel when led by a human who looks back at him. Remember, horses rely on good leadership for survival. Firstly, horses are intelligent creatures with different personalities, abilities, and sensitivities. Humans should realize that each horse has a different need and that each training requirement is different. In the second place, people often comment that their horses are too senseless to need a choice. A while back, I read a story about a mare who was dying from fighting an illness and exhaustion. Before she died, she walked for days across exposed moors leading her foal to the safety of a farm where she died less than twenty–four hours later. She died after knowing her foal was safe. Does that sound like a senseless horse? A horse with that much intelligence, to have no choice during training? It is inconceivable. Horses are not incapable of understanding communication; it is up to the human not to send out mixed signals. In the third place, when the human sends the horse away during equine training, the person is giving the horse a choice. Either the horse will stay away or come back to safety. When the person gives the horse a choice, the horse is very willing to work. Another example is when a horse is standing next to the human, and the horse starts to bump the person with his head; signs of trying to dominate the human, the person will move the horse away. Summary Of ' People Make Choices ' Kameron Jarvis Mrs. Bowden English Two Honors 17 March 2016 "People make Choices" Introduction: From 1941 to 1945, The Holocaust took place in many countries, and millions of people died. Adolf Hitler came to power in 1933 in Germany, and had an "Aryan Race" which was the Nazi's idea of a master race. They thought that people with blonde hair and blue eyes were perfect. Adolf Hitler developed a plan called the "Final Solution," which was to kill mostly Jewish people, but also anyone who did not fit his standards. Hitler rounded up all of the people he disliked, and he placed them in concentration camps and death camps. In these awful places, these prisoners got tortured not only physically, but also mentally. In France, many Jews were being deported to Germany, however; there was so many, that they had to stay in concentration camps in France. The survival rate in France was higher than any country in Europe during the Holocaust. Two very similar people who made very different choices were in France during the Holocaust. • 121. The Courtship Of Mr. Lyon By Angela Carter "The Courtship of Mr. Lyon" – Angela Carter This short story involves almost an identical plot to the original Beauty and the Beast. The theme expressed throughout both is that beauty is what's on the inside, rather than what's on the outside, which is portrayed through the main character, Beauty. The author used the circumstances of Beauty's father to show that "her sweetness and her gravity" was transformed into "a lacquer of the invincible prettiness that characterizes certain pampered, exquisite, expensive cats" by his restored wealth (Carter 143). While the story involves elements of storytelling just by following the plot of the original tale, it's lacking emotion. The author of this short story allowed Beauty to chose whether she would ... The Success And Success Of Sir Robert Gordon Menzies Sir Robert Gordon Menzies was an Australian politician who served two terms as Prime Minister, from 1939 to 1941, and, from 1949 until 1966. This amounts to a total of eighteen years, which is a record for time serving as Australian prime minister (WEB). In this essay, I shall delineate and analyse the secrets to Menzies' success, which I attribute to several factors, many of which were beyond the control of Menzies himself. Even before entering politics, Menzies developed talents that would serve him well for political success. Namely, during his time studying and practising law, Menzies developed a particularly strong oratorical ability which benefited him throughout his career. Additionally, it is clear from his days as a student that Menzies ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It was at this time that Murdoch once again threw his support and influence behind Menzies, which can be seen in an article that he wrote for the 'Herald' which was titled "This persecution of Menzies should cease" (MURDOCH 1943a p4 GRIFFEN 5). The stinging electoral defeat suffered by the UAP under Hughes' leadership acted to further damage the reputation of Hughes which saw Menzies regaining support from members of parliament, and Menzies once again found himself as the leader of the UAP (GRIFFEN 5). From here, Murdoch set to work promoting and trying to bring about the creation of a new political party, a unification of non–labour parties with could legitimately challenge the labour party (GRIFFEN 5). In the wake of the 1943 federal election, Murdoch commented in the 'Herald' that the failed election campaign by non–labour parties "deteriorated from a bad beginning to a wretched end" and "that no good government could be formed out of the present opposition parties" (MURDOCH 1943b p4 GRIFFEN ... She worked there for about six years, than left to go to work full–time at Ipswich which would provide more experience and teach new and different methods. • 149. The Lyon Statement Of Violence Analysis Forgiveness and Reconciliation in Interpersonal Conflicts In this essay, I analyze The Seville Statement of Violence, and discuss the false belief that conflict is embedded into human nature through violence and aggression, along with the counter arguments against this. Instead, I concur that conflict is a social construction. I then discuss how the solution to conflict is through the path of forgiveness and reconciliation. Considering Gary Hawk's Transcending Transgression: Forgiveness and Reconciliation, I discuss the differences between the two words and explain the value of forgiving and reconciling with an offender in the face of conflict. Using John Paul Lederach's "The Moral Imagination, I examine the possible methods used to be able to reach forgiveness and reconciliation. To conclude, I provide an example of an interpersonal conflict and how I found a solution to it through forgiveness and reconciliation. Overall, although conflict continues to exist, the only way to find peace is through forgiveness, An underlying question about human nature, in regard to conflict, is if are humans naturally aggressive creatures, thus not allowing for peace.
