What Does Disillusionment Of Ten O Clock Mean
Imagination is a crucial part of humanity. From the depths of the human mind, brilliant ideas can
emerge. The "Disillusionment of Ten O'Clock" by Wallace Stevens, dramatizes how the average
person has lost all sense of imagination. The speaker focuses to comment on the "white night–
gowns" of the people being observing, highlighting how typical and mundane their lives have
become (2). The poem then carries on to explain how they could have nightgowns that are "purple
with green rings,/Or green with yellow rings" or adorned with decorative trim, but the people still
choose to wear the same, white nightgowns (4–5). Finally, the poem concludes with the speaker
saying that the people will not have extravagant dreams; but sailors in their drunken states will
dream vividly. The poem urges to reader to become acquainted with a sense of imagination. .

Stevens, again, was very meticulous in using both a pirate and red weather. The pirate is the
antithesis of the people he is focusing on. Pirates are adventurous, bold, and place their faith in
abstract concepts like mermaids and treasure maps. They are not haunted by houses or suburbia (1).
Pirates are free to imagine what they want and when. The "red weather" part of the poem is
Stevens's way of exploring the pirate's own imagination. Since he is free to allow his mind to roam,
he can come up with obscure ideas like red weather. It does not make sense that the weather is red,
but that is the point. The reader is supposed to question why the weather now has color, and how. It
is the transitional point from dreaming only in white, to suddenly experiencing bright color.
"Disillusionment of Ten o'clock" reaches out to the reader's inner child. It speaks to the part of the
reader that wants to create something. It urges them to move past trivial adulthood and get in touch
with the imaginative part of

Chapter 6: A Brief Story Of Chauncey's House
In the meanwhile, Chauncey had developed cancer of the throat, which he had managed to keep a
secret. At this point, his contact with the family was so minimal that it would be inappropriate to
suddenly burden them with bad news when he chose to finally speak. He had other plans.
The doctor told him that the cancer was from smoking pipes nightly, but Chauncey knew something
different; it was a poison that he chose on himself, created by years of silence. He envisioned every
word that he never spoke aloud sitting stagnant in his vocal chords, turning like a fungus and
accumulating until it became rock hard. Silence was his cancer. He refused to open and connect with
others, and suffocated himself in the process.
Even in the doctors office, when the words "You have cancer of the throat" were first spoken aloud,
he put all these conclusions together and decided to commit suicide even before he completed the
ride home.
It wasn't a sad suicide; he didn't do it because he was miserable or because he wanted pity or
attention. He wasn't proving a point. He did it because he would rather be remembered as an
explosion than a candle. He did it to say "I was a person, with thoughts and ideas. Remember me."

this was the moment to do it, so he put the gun to his heart and pulled the

Character Analysis Of Ha In 'Inside Out And Back Again'
In Vietnam 1975, Ha is in the middle of a war. Like many others that have to flee their homeland,
know the difficulty of finding a way out. In "Inside Out and Back Again" Ha is escaping Vietnam (
her home country) to not go under control of the North. Many of the refugees in "World of
Difference Benefit Luncheon", " Refugees: Who, Where, why", and " Children of War" go through
the same difficulty as Ha, leaving their home/family, going to a refugee camp to somewhere they
were not familiar with, fitting into their new home and country. Paragraph II: TIQA format–––Ha as

Chapter 7 Of The Book ' We Live Too Short ' Die Too Long '
Chapter 7
We live too short and die too long. –Walter M. Bortz II, MD
I lay in bed tossing and turning as I struggled to take a breath. My pink cotton nightgown with white
lace trim was soaked with urine and sweat. My bed, positioned against the wall enabled me to see
out the window onto the desert landscape of my backyard. Nothing of significance grew out there
but low–lying prickly pear and scrub brushes. Tumbleweeds blew haphazardly around the rocky
barren landscape that stretched out over the acre of land. In the evening, I would watch the baby
blue sky blaze with reddish orange clouds that never brought rain. The heat would slowly recede
and a cool gentle breeze would playfully move the curtain around my window frame.
Over the next ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I do not think I had much of a reaction to what I saw. I turned away, feeling a quiet wave of joy and
adventure suddenly wash over me. I found myself moving through a passageway filled with light.
There I was surrounded by a peaceful, loving and welcoming group of "glowing balls of light." No
words were exchanged but instead heart–felt feelings that created thoughts and ideas.
I remember bits and pieces about the experience. I have the impression that I was shown many
things and given a great deal of information. I thought, "How am I going to remember all of this?" I
was immediately put at ease and "told" not to worry. When I needed the information it would be
there for me and I would think that it was my own thought. So now when I have knowledge of
something I could not possibly know or a great idea that comes to me seemingly out of nowhere, I
smile and nod and remember my experience. I am reminded that there is a great deal of support and
unconditional love that is always present; I am never alone or forgotten.
I knew that sometimes, oftentimes, life did not work out the way I hoped and dreamed that it would.
But I will never give up on my dreams – it is the stuff that life is made of. I now understood that
health is first and foremost a state of mind. My body responded directly to my thoughts that were
super charged by my emotions. To live a fulfilling and meaningful life I needed to stop reacting and

Motif Of Night In Macbeth
In Shakespeare's Macbeth, the motif of night is aggressive like the murders they plot and commit.
Night dominates day throughout the play since they commit murders which disrupt the natural order
of the world. Macbeth "plays God" by taking someone else's life and therefore they challenge the
Elizabethan order of the world. Acts of chaos, like earthquakes and supernatural events, break loose.
Macbeth and Lady Macbeth think the night will cover their treacherous deeds. At first, the idea of
murdering Duncan frightens Macbeth, but after he kills the two guards, he begins to lose his
humanity. In the beginning, Lady Macbeth feels no remorse for the deaths they are responsible for
but as the play progresses, Lady Macbeth starts to feel remorse for her and her husband's actions.
Although Lady Macbeth and Macbeth hope the night will conceal their sins, instead it illuminates
their actions and worsens their guilt. Their actions can never fully hide since they disrupt the natural
order of the world and cause chaos.
Lady Macbeth and Macbeth call on the night before Duncan's and Banquo's murders and hope that
its darkness will be enough to cover the evil deeds they are about to commit. Before Duncan's
murder, Lady Macbeth asks the witches to thicken her blood so she does not feel remorse or guilt.
She also wishes for a dark and foggy night, when she says: "Come, thick night, and pall thee in the
dunnest smoke of hell, that my keen knife see not the wound it makes" (1.5.57–59). She

Advertisement Analysis Of Advertisement
Perfume advertisements are made to illustrate an atmosphere and personality for a scent that you
cannot smell. In the Daisy Trio by Marc Jacobs perfume advertisement femininity, purity, and
youthfulness are used to create a persona for the classic daisy scent. In the airy meadows of the
countryside on a sunny summer afternoon the director, Sofia Coppola illustrates the idea that being
young is sexy and desirable through the elements included in the commercial. The clothing,
makeup, body language, and camera techniques are used to sell the Daisy perfume, but also, youth
and desire. The commercial opens to delicate, feminine fingertips picking the fragile petals of a
white daisy projecting the image of innocence and summertime. The Daisy Trio by Marc Jacobs
commercial pictures a group of young girls frolicking among a field of daisies in their white
nightgown–like dresses. Sitting together in the tall grassy field telling secrets and crafting the most
dainty flower crowns, this young group of girls displays a dream–like quality in nature that is almost
angelic. Riding their bikes playfully down a path that leads to a creek with fairy–tale–like greenery,
they then lay aside each other reading and discussing while an oversized bottle of the Daisy perfume
sits childlike on the lap of a youthful blonde girl. Then three perfume bottles stand–alone front and
center as the sun gleams through romantically as the words, "Daisy Marc Jacobs" is whispered
softly in the background amidst the song, "The Mother We Share" by Chvrches perfectly closing
what seems like a lazy summer afternoon. In the Daisy by Marc Jacobs perfume advertisement the
director, Sofia Coppola strives to capture the ideals of youth, innocence, and girliness, but also
sophistication and intimacy. The models' clothing and makeup, as well as posture, is very telling of
this concept throughout the thirty–second advertisement. The four adolescents skip and play through
the meadow in short, white, peasant style nightgown dresses, which immediately project the image
of youth, innocence, and girliness to anyone watching. Their makeup is minimal and natural looking
with a fresh–faced appearance, which indicates the young age that they are

Owen Meany: A Firm Believer In God
Owen Meany is a firm believer in God. To him, nothing in the world is certain except for the
existence of God. He uses his faith in God to justify his actions and explain the events that transpire
in his life, both ordinary and extraordinary. For example, one night when Owen slept over at
Johnny's, he developed a fever and as a result ended up sleeping in Tabby's bed. Prior to him
entering her bed, Johnny had given him an aspirin and a glass of water, but forgot to turn the light
and tap off. As a result, his (Johnny) grandmother had to turn off the utilities. Her simple task of
turning the water off, putting the light out, and going to bed, was destroyed when she accidentally
turned the tap the wrong way and proceeded to douse herself in

The Use Of Symbolism In Macbeth
Clothes makes the man... or so they say. William Shakespeare uses many literary devices to
emphasize important recurring ideas in his plays. One of the techniques Shakespeare uses to
illustrate internal conflict is the use of imagery, which allows the audience grasp his intentions
through unique representations. The usage of such figurative language inspires an understanding of
the plot at a deeper level, as well as to serve specific purposes. One of the most important types of
imagery employed in Shakespeare's play Macbeth is the motif of clothing, which is used to
symbolize power and conceal evil deeds.
The use of clothing in the play is crucial in emphasizing the positions of power in Scotland, as well
as how that power suits the person who wields it. At the beginning of Act One, when Ross delivers
Macbeth the news that Macbeth is now the Thane of Cawdor, Macbeth questions him by asking
"Why do you dress me / In borrowed robes?" (1.3.114–115). The robes Macbeth mentions refer to
the new title and power he has been granted, which he doesn't think belongs to him. Banquo notes
of Macbeth's uncertainty in his new titles, and assures Macbeth that "like our strange garments,
cleave not to their mold / But with the aid of use" (1.4.160–162). Banquo reasons that the longer
Macbeth has the title, the more familiar and better fitting the role would suit him. However,
Banquo's claims does not seem to come true, as the clothing Macbeth wears continues to be ill–
fitting. Another

Blackbird And Disillusionment
Both "Thirteen Ways of Looking a Blackbird" and "Disillusionment of Ten O'Clock" deal with the
idea of perception and subjectivity. What other similarities do you see? What are the major
differences in how this idea is presented? First there is The Disillusionment of Ten O'Clock.
Imagery is used in the first line of the poem to bring attention to the audience that the "houses are
haunted by white nightgowns." Being "haunted" in the beginning referred to the ghosts or people
residing in the house. These humans can resemble a ghost because they possess the traits of cold,
empty, and dead like–features. The color white can be associated with the idea of being bland, basic,
and boring. Thus the haunting of white nightgown refers to the idea of

Romeo And Juliet Compare And Contrast
Shakespeare's play Romeo and Juliet has been made into many different art forms. One of the main
ways that the play is portrayed is in film. The 1968 Franco Zeffirelli version of Romeo and Juliet
differs from the 1997 Baz Luhrmann version called William Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet. The
balcony scene is each movies highlights many differences in each film. These two scenes differ in
setting, believability, and costumes. In the balcony scene in each versions of this play the setting is
very different. In Zeffirelli's version of the play the scene is based in and "Old timey" home, sort of
looks like a castle, which is probably what the house for the wealthy would look like in
Shakespeare's time. Also in this version Romeo isn't right at her ... Show more content on

In the 1968 version Romeo is wearing some variety of a doublet. Which in the times that the 1968
versions were portraying that would be the normal thing to wear to the type of party Juliet's family
held that night. In Luhrmann's version Romeo just got out of a costume party, so instead of wearing
a normal evening outfit, he was wearing a knight costume. In each balcony scene Juliet was
preparing to go to bed, so she was wearing her pajamas. In Zeffirelli's version Juliet was dressed to
go to sleep, but she was wearing a very uncomfortable looking, very tight, "showy" nightgown.
While as in the Luhrmann's version Juliet was also wearing a nightgown. But she wore one that was
fit to actually go to sleep in, something more comfortable and reasonable. Both of these scenes have
very similar costumes, but in the 1997 Luhrmann's version the outfit that Juliet has to wear in my
opinion, is a lot more reasonable and believable for what Juliet would be wearing at that time of
night, and Romeo looks casual and reasonable because the party just ended, for that reason I feel
that Luhrmann's version is a lot more reasonable making it

Compare And Contrast The San Francisco Earthquake
Earthquakes are terrible, heartbreaking events. Being caught in one could turn the whole world as
you know it, upside down. The San Francisco Earthquake of 1906 went down in history as one of
the most deathifying, tragic earthquakes of all time. The main character in the fictional novel
Dragonwings describes this earthquake as he lives through it. The main character, Moon Shadow,
can only describe the earthquake to a certain point, whereas a factual short story called "The Great
1906 Earthquake and Fires of San Francisco", can provide a much broader span of information.
While both stories give valid data about this natural disaster, the two stories are very different and
provide various points of view about The San Francisco Earthquake.

What Causes Lady Macbeth To Blame
After he listens to lady Macbeth and commits murder, Macbeth starts seeing wicked dreams and
having self hatred which promotes the unbearable consequences he will be facing before his end.
Early in the play, Macbeth's murder of the king leads to wicked dreams and less sleep which show
weak of a character macbeth really is because he never wanted to kill anyone but his wife forced
him and after he killed, he constantly saw horrifying dreams and could not sleep no more and was
just not able to handle the consequences. After Macbeth killed Banquo, he starts to feel guilty and

Less sleep and a lot of wicked thoughts and dreams. This shows lady Macbeth as being wicked,
untrustable and dreadful because she was the one to fill Macbeth's head with wrong actions and told
him that it will be okay and that no one will find out. After lady Macbeth told Macbeth to kill the
king and he did so, later in the play lady Macbeth started to feel the guilt and was seen walking in
her sleep multiple times in which has been seen by the gentlewoman who said "Since his Majesty
went into the field, I have seen her rise from her bed, throw her nightgown upon her, unlock her
closet, take forth paper, fold it, write upon't, read it, afterwards seal it, and again return to bed; yet

beyond my practice. Yet I have known those which have walked in their sleep, who have died holily

from her bed, throw her nightgown upon her, unlock her closet, take forth paper, fold it, write
upon't, read it, afterwards seal it, and again return to bed; yet all this while in a most fast sleep" lady

Furthermore, societal pressures also result to girls being forces to dream in a certain way – like
wanting a traditional marriage and striving to become the perfect wives to their husbands. The
husband, interestingly, is portrayed as a mannequin. The mannequin husband suggests that he is
luring girls, as mannequins in stores serve the purpose of luring consumers to buy the item of
clothing. Also, the mannequin suggests how numb he is to the wife and the idea of marriage because
most males in society are not faced with society's constant pressures to behave or want certain
things. Society enforces this standard to mold women into believing that they want this dream – to
get married, live in a nice home, and raise kids, and that it will ultimately lead them to a happier
state. However, men in our society are not put to the same standard. The audience comes to know

How Does Shakespeare Create Identity In Macbeth
Someone can only be two–faced for so long before the authenticity of ones true self overcomes the
disguise. Macbeth attempted to hide a part of himself in the play only to be revealed at the end.
Throughout Macbeth Shakespeare used the motifs of blood, titles, and masks to gradually reveal
Macbeth's true desires.
At the beginning of the play Macbeth is a respected warrior, loved by his country. Shakespeare uses
the motif of blood throughout the play, but in Act 1 the only bloodshed is from the thane of Cawdor,
enemy of Scotland. He was "unseamed from the naves to the chops" by Macbeth, which was seen as
an act of valor. Macbeth's murderous heart is only disguised by the blood of battle, so people are
unable to see beyond the warrior he is. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Macbeth questions himself "Will all great Neptune's ocean wash this blood / clean from my hand?"
which shows his remorse for the person he has become, or been this whole time. At this point
Macbeth is still fighting to find his identity between his two faces, as shown by the contrast in his
actions and his remorse for them. This aids the gradual reveal in his true identity with the use of
blood rather than just stating the change. By now those who are suspicious of Macbeth are
beginning to catch on to the other side of him, and they begin to refer to him as "black Macbeth," or
"devilish Macbeth." This is an obvious change from the royal and respectful titles at the beginning
of the play and the reader can see the change not only in Macbeth, but what some people have
begun to see in him. Lady Macbeth also tries to hide what her husband has done, using their
nightgowns to mask their deeds of that night: killing Duncan. She says to Macbeth, "get on your
nightgown, lest occasion call us / And show us no be watchers," telling him to hide under a new set
of clothes and the illusion that they've been asleep. Macbeth has committed murder, yet we still do
not see his truest desires because it is being masked. The middle of the play is comparable to a half
mood; the reader is able to see Macbeth's dark heart, but it has

is consonance on the "d" sound of dreamt, Weïrd, and showed, on the "r" sound of three, Weïrd,
Sisters, and truth, and on the "t" sound of dreamt, last, night, Sisters, to, and truth.
Conclusion: Night is used to explain when Banquo thinkings about the Weïrd Sisters. The words
imply that they are in the back of his mind constantly and present enough for him to dream about
them. The night is when Banquo subconsciously ponders their mysteries. Night also signifies that
this though happened recently and the time was important.

Symbolism Paragraph In The Scarlet Ibis By James Hurst
"The Scarlet ibis" Symbolism Paragraph In "The Scarlet Ibis," James Hurst uses the ibis as a symbol
for Doodle in order to show the misfortunate events the was called Doodle's life. Doodle, a young
boy, who wasn't even expected to live at birth: "But Mama, crying, told me that even if William
Armstrong lived, He might not, she sobbed, even be "all there" "(Hurst 258). They had so little faith
in him that they did not even give him a real name and at one point Brother was even considering
suffocating Doddle because he was "Invalid brother". As a matter of fact Aunt Nicey was the only

Creative Writing: Trapped! Essay
She almost floated across the empty, box–like room. A cold shiver relentlessly weaved its way down
Emma's spine as she ran her bony hand down the bleak wall. The fireplace glared at her – its mouth
opened wide. The unfamiliar surroundings struck her as if forcing themselves against her weak body
–engulfing her. A soft breeze seething its way into the room from the uneven cracks underneath the
door meant that the desolate room of openness had become filled with the sigh of the wind. It was as
if it was crying, almost howling for its voice to be heard.

"Don't leave me here... I don't think I can take it anymore."
Almost as soon as she thought things couldn't get worse, the most terrifying sound rang in her ears.
The sudden bolt of the bedroom door unlatching itself made her thin face grow pale. And then she
saw him. It was at this point that her imaginings were in fact reality. Draped in a long black coat,
stood a man – his eyes pierced her skin as he stared almost straight through her. His face – hidden
by the dark layers of shadows – was square and pointed. He lurched forward and seemed to look
straight past the young helpless girl. A tight knot in her throat almost strangled her. She
screamed...but no sound escaped her lips...
At first she felt nothing, but then a surge of anger mixed with the overwhelming thoughts of
humiliation swept through her body. Wispy tendrils of his hair, brushed against her face, causing her
to shiver slightly. She could feel his garments moving against her thin nightgown. She remembered
how the night before a gentle touch graced her forehead, a hand, and it moved down her face,
tracing her eyes...her cheek...her mouth. She tried to pull away, as fear began to overwhelm her
senses, but he refused to let her go. He pulled her closer to him and she could feel his warm breath
on her face. A tingle, partly fear and partly excitement, shot through her and her heart

Emily Dickinson's Poem Frequently The Woods Are Pink
The first stanza of "Frequently the woods are pink" means a lot of times the woods are full of bright
and bold colors, but frequently they're brown. When it says "Frequently the hills undress" I think it
means the hills become brown during the cold seasons, and the hills are right behind her native
town. Conclusion I think that this peom is using personification to tell the story. Emily Dickinson is
saying that the hills and forests can be dressed in many colors, but when it turns to winter, it
"undresses". This poem has to do with cycles of change because it is talking about the seasonal
changes in life. Meaning I think the first stanza of this poem means that as children say goodbye to
there guests, or possibly the sun, they raise their

A Narrative Essay On A Hero's Journey
Feeling exhausted and depleted throughout the hellish pregnancy, she hadn't selected a name for the
child she'd carried. Whereas, almost before she had found out she was expecting Jessica Jane; she'd
picked out the name. In the front room where the delivery had just taken place, Lelia closed her
eyes, not wanting to hold the infant, or speak with Owen. Thus she pretended to sleep. However, the
sleep she so desperately needed did not come. She was overwhelmed with thoughts of her life with
Owen and her memories of Sam, they twisted and mingled together until they ultimately became
one. Only then, did she drift into a deep slumber, putting an end to the difficult, complicated past
nine months.

Gladys Cowdery lived in an antique white cape with a huge barn attached. It sat across the road,
south toward Cutler Harbor. The positioning of this aging cape gave way to commanding easterly
views of the sunrises over the woods, as well as of the old Walker farmhouse, now inhabited by the
Bauer family. She and her husband, Clarence, had lived there for about twenty–five years, maybe
more. Alas, they remained without children, as Gladys was barren. Although, in the early days, she
had dreamed of a home full of children; it had never happened.
Gladys often sat out on her front porch in her favorite wooden rocker, the flecks of white paint
dropping off as she slowly rocked, enjoying the antics of the Bauer children running about,
roughhousing and the likes. How she envied Lelia her ability to have children. On the other hand,
what she didn't envy was the strife she heard, and sometimes saw, across the road at the Bauer
house. The weekends Owen came home brought nothing respectable to the ancient farmhouse

Lady Macbeth's Sleepwalking Essay
Lady Macbeth's sleepwalking scene from Act V, Scene I was interpreted very well from both Artus
Scheiner's painting and Michael Lynch's stage adaptation. Lynch's stage adaptation of the play
provides a great sense of connection with Lady Macbeth. The dimmed lights and the darkened stage
gave the scene such an intense and eerie feeling. Scheiner's painting presents Lady Macbeth as scary
with her long black hair that covers most of her face and her mouth wide open. Her being dressed in
white and holding a lit candlestick, brings a bit light to such a dark painting. Although Scheiner's
painting is very detailed with the darkness of her hair, her white nightgown, and the dark colors of
the background, Lynch's play adaptation gives a better understanding and ... Show more content on

Lynch's stage interpretation of Lady Macbeth's sleepwalking scene in Macbeth's Shakespeare
provides a clear understanding of the scene with detailed colors, tones, figures, and landscapes.
Characterization: Lady Macbeth is sleepwalking/talking. The Doctor has seen this before but has no
idea what to do. Theme: Darkness is dangerous. Use of Language: "Yet here's a spot." Shakespeare
is telling us that Lady Macbeth still sees blood on her hands from her involvement in the murder.
Shakespeare wants the audience to see that Lady Macbeth's actions led her to guilty sleepwalking
and rubbing her hands to wash the "bloody" spots away. In this scene, Shakespeare's decision to
make Lady Macbeth sleepwalk makes her look like she subconsciously regrets her part in Duncan's
murder. Lady Macbeth's downfall leads to the theme, "Darkness is Dangerous." Artus Scheiner
illustrates Lady Macbeth as somewhat scary by giving her black long hair that covers most of her
face and her mouth wide open. Lady Macbeth is dressed in white and carrying a candlestick, which
gives the darkened painting some light to

Personal Narrative: Imperishable Husbands Made By Nymphs
Believe it or not I had chores to do. When I got up, I had to bath in a mountain spring with a
waterfall ( that probably came first.) Dressing came next. Imperishable gowns made by Athena
enduring forever and washed by Nymphs. At play they would be laid out. I had handmaids, Nymphs
of local streams and springs, to arrange my hair. I spent my mornings studying the chance of
victories by men and women. I had a brunch meal which consisted of Ambrosia. This would be
devised into delightful shapes and flavors by the Nymphs. After this I would consider the many
petitioners in my realm. These would be presented to me by nymphs and other deities in a court
while I sat in a chair and the Nymphs sat on stools. My afternoon was spent celebrating the victories
of the world. I would flit from victory to victory with my wreaths and vases in hand. The evening
meal was a banquet either in my apartment or in that of another deity. The participants a person who
takes part in an event. would recline on kline couches with the food on lower tables It would consist
of ambrosia in the form of nectar, fruits and nuts. After the meal stories would be told. Often I
would eat with some of the other deities. When I retired I would then put on my nightgown. The
nymphs would pull my gossamer curtains around me and I would sink into dreamland on a high bed

How Fashion Grew Into A Very Important And Valuable Idea
Throughout the 15th, 16th, and 17th century, the concept of fashion grew into a very important and
valuable idea. Between the years of 1450 and 1648, men's upper and lower class fashion and
women's upper and lower class fashion was drastically improved by modern technology and culture.
If you were any sort of noble figure, you would have always looked completely put together no
matter where you were going. No matter what class you were in, you desired to look your best even
though there was a vast difference in what each class wore. Lower classmen opted for clothing that
was easy to move and work in, while upper classmen opted for big, costume–like clothing. This was
a result of new, modern technology.
Upper class fashion was definitely the most voluminous, and heavy style of the three classes. For
men's, women's, and children's outfits there were multiple layers, with many different colors, and a
large amount of accessories. "Contrasting fabrics, slashes, embroidery, applied trims, and other
forms of surface ornamentation became prominent." (Romanova) For men, the outfits always started
with a simple dress shirt similar to dress shirts men wear today, but without the collar. Instead of a
fold over collar, there was a drawstring that was tied to form a large ruffle around the neck. Over
this dress shirt you would find a doublet. A doublet is a tight jacket–like vest that was meant to
make the man look slimmer. It was hip or waist length. Next was the jerkin. A jerkin was a

At first, her elaborate gown portrays her as a passive woman, highly focused on her own career in
fashion. Her next costume, a black dress with a simpler silhouette demonstrates the first attempts to
become more able to fit into Jeffreys' life and earn more respect from him. In her third scene, she
dramatically shifts her costume to a green suit that is more practical and businesslike than her
previous attire, demonstrating a key turning point in her ability to be involved in Jeffreys' concerns.
This is backed up by her practical night–case, however, the case's silky contents reveal that she has
not yet completely changed. Her focus on the mystery while wearing her pink nightgown and her
active mission out of the apartment in a floral dress and heels demonstrate her ability to retain a
sense of her femininity, while actively involving herself in Jeffreys' life and helping him. In her final
scene, she retains a sense of glamour and her own identity with her hair, makeup and copy of
Harper's Bazaar, but her commitment to taking an active role in Jeffreys' active lifestyle is
confirmed by her book about the Himalayas and her more masculine costume of blue jeans and a
red blouse. Through these careful costume changes, her character development is

There is really no change of scene here. Lady Macbeth enters the courtyard as Macbeth leaves it and
waits there for his return from Duncan's chamber. Her soliloquy fills up the time during which the

Similarities Between Dwayne Allen Dail And Christopher...
The two rape cases that were put against Dwayne Allen Dail and Christopher Abernathy were very
similar in more ways than just one. These two people were both charged with crimes of rape against
two younger girls. Later both Abernathy and Dail were both freed from federal prison after serving
for many years do to evidence found from DNA samples. The first examples of the similarity
between the two cases are the convictions of both Abernathy and Dail. At the young age of 18,
Dwayne Allen Dail falsely convicted of a rape, crime and several other charges were put against
him. First, Dail was convicted of a rape crime against Barbara Best's daughter (Mumma). This
shows that the charges were already placed against him. Next, he was also convicted of burglary for
breaking into the apartment in which crime had happened at (Mumma). This shows that Dail was
being suspected of breaking into the apartment, and stealing from the apartment. Finally, Dail had
been convicted with two life terms (Mumma). This shows that if Dail wasn't found innocent later he

Theme Of Clothing In Macbeth
The clothing and disguises appear repeatedly in Macbeth, but they are especially significant in terms
of the unfamiliar, foreboding atmosphere that begins to envelop the entire kingdom of Scotland. The
Macbeths themselves are the characters that contribute to this motif the most, disguising their true
feelings and intentions from their king, their friends, and even each other: "These deeds must not be
thought/ After these ways. So, it will make us mad" (2.2.37–38). Here, Lady Macbeth advises her
husband against wallowing in his own guilt and dread, though only pages ago she herself admitted
to having to become intoxicated in order to carry out the murderous plot. She dons a strong, ruthless
façade to encourage her husband, when in reality she is not a woman who would cruelly kill her
own child, but a lady who balks at killing a man because he looks like her ... Show more content on

This demonstrates a lack of trust between the Macbeths–and when one cannot even trust one's
spouse, it creates a world with a depressing, chaotic atmosphere. Though they disguise themselves
to each other, the Macbeths, for the most part, combine their efforts to fool other characters,
particularly those loyal to Duncan. "Get on your nightgown, lest occasion call us/ And show us to be
watchers" (2.2.73–74). Lady Macbeth literally tells Macbeth to put on a nightgown to give others
the preconceived notion that he was asleep during the murder; however, she is also commanding
him to disguise his nervousness and fear to avoid suspicion. This "false face" prevents the king's
killer from being brought to justice; when killers begin to go free as good men die, the world begins
to descend into chaos. Although the motif of clothing is primarily used in the context of disguise, it
is also used to refer to roles or titles. "Adieu,/ Lest our old robes sit easier than our new!"

How Does Williams Present Lust In Poetry
Love and literary works of poetry have been used together to portray one's feeling of admiration or
longing towards someone or something. Lust is typically looked down upon and with caution; on
the other hand, it can be seen as the protagonist of different verses. Imagist poet William Carlos
Williams' approach to love is one society deems unconventional. There are rare occurrences where
both of these emotions are used simultaneously to describe what a person once shared with another
person. In his poem The Young Housewife, the underlying tone of lust can lead one to conclude that
a secret and past relationship, full of love and lust, existed between the speaker and a woman.
Williams uses both free verse and a descriptive choice of words, as ... Show more content on

Williams' poem The Young Housewife not only grants the reader visual stimulus, but also leaves
one wondering the truth behind the work. The poem begins with the speaker seeing the housewife in
her nightgown through the window, at ten A.M., and within that moment she walked outside her
house still dressed in her negligee. This suggests that the young housewife saw the speaker of the
poem driving past her house through the window. When the speaker mentions the housewife was
uncorseted, it indicates the lust the speaker has imagined when her body was seen since being
"uncorseted" has to do with the noticing and looking the upper body of a woman. The speaker
describes the young housewife tucking in the strands of her hair showing that the speaker of the
poem was able to get a look at the young housewife's appearance. The entire poem emits the
sensation of a brief moment of lust between the speaker and housewife as they drive by slowly
listening only to the sound of leaves crackling in that instant of

What Does Disillusionment Of Ten O Clock Mean

  • 1. What Does Disillusionment Of Ten O Clock Mean Imagination is a crucial part of humanity. From the depths of the human mind, brilliant ideas can emerge. The "Disillusionment of Ten O'Clock" by Wallace Stevens, dramatizes how the average person has lost all sense of imagination. The speaker focuses to comment on the "white night– gowns" of the people being observing, highlighting how typical and mundane their lives have become (2). The poem then carries on to explain how they could have nightgowns that are "purple with green rings,/Or green with yellow rings" or adorned with decorative trim, but the people still choose to wear the same, white nightgowns (4–5). Finally, the poem concludes with the speaker saying that the people will not have extravagant dreams; but sailors in their drunken states will dream vividly. The poem urges to reader to become acquainted with a sense of imagination. . Wallace Stevens writes ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Stevens, again, was very meticulous in using both a pirate and red weather. The pirate is the antithesis of the people he is focusing on. Pirates are adventurous, bold, and place their faith in abstract concepts like mermaids and treasure maps. They are not haunted by houses or suburbia (1). Pirates are free to imagine what they want and when. The "red weather" part of the poem is Stevens's way of exploring the pirate's own imagination. Since he is free to allow his mind to roam, he can come up with obscure ideas like red weather. It does not make sense that the weather is red, but that is the point. The reader is supposed to question why the weather now has color, and how. It is the transitional point from dreaming only in white, to suddenly experiencing bright color. "Disillusionment of Ten o'clock" reaches out to the reader's inner child. It speaks to the part of the reader that wants to create something. It urges them to move past trivial adulthood and get in touch with the imaginative part of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 2. Chapter 6: A Brief Story Of Chauncey's House In the meanwhile, Chauncey had developed cancer of the throat, which he had managed to keep a secret. At this point, his contact with the family was so minimal that it would be inappropriate to suddenly burden them with bad news when he chose to finally speak. He had other plans. The doctor told him that the cancer was from smoking pipes nightly, but Chauncey knew something different; it was a poison that he chose on himself, created by years of silence. He envisioned every word that he never spoke aloud sitting stagnant in his vocal chords, turning like a fungus and accumulating until it became rock hard. Silence was his cancer. He refused to open and connect with others, and suffocated himself in the process. Even in the doctors office, when the words "You have cancer of the throat" were first spoken aloud, he put all these conclusions together and decided to commit suicide even before he completed the ride home. It wasn't a sad suicide; he didn't do it because he was miserable or because he wanted pity or attention. He wasn't proving a point. He did it because he would rather be remembered as an explosion than a candle. He did it to say "I was a person, with thoughts and ideas. Remember me." Chauncey continued ... Like many others that have to flee their homeland, know the difficulty of finding a way out. In "Inside Out and Back Again" Ha is escaping Vietnam ( her home country) to not go under control of the North. Many of the refugees in "World of Difference Benefit Luncheon", " Refugees: Who, Where, why", and " Children of War" go through the same difficulty as Ha, leaving their home/family, going to a refugee camp to somewhere they were not familiar with, fitting into their new home and country. • 4. Chapter 7 Of The Book ' We Live Too Short ' Die Too Long ' Chapter 7 We live too short and die too long. –Walter M. Bortz II, MD I lay in bed tossing and turning as I struggled to take a breath. My pink cotton nightgown with white lace trim was soaked with urine and sweat. My bed, positioned against the wall enabled me to see out the window onto the desert landscape of my backyard. Nothing of significance grew out there but low–lying prickly pear and scrub brushes. Tumbleweeds blew haphazardly around the rocky barren landscape that stretched out over the acre of land. In the evening, I would watch the baby blue sky blaze with reddish orange clouds that never brought rain. The heat would slowly recede and a cool gentle breeze would playfully move the curtain around my window frame. Over the next ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I do not think I had much of a reaction to what I saw. I turned away, feeling a quiet wave of joy and adventure suddenly wash over me. I found myself moving through a passageway filled with light. There I was surrounded by a peaceful, loving and welcoming group of "glowing balls of light." No words were exchanged but instead heart–felt feelings that created thoughts and ideas. I remember bits and pieces about the experience. I have the impression that I was shown many things and given a great deal of information. I thought, "How am I going to remember all of this?" I was immediately put at ease and "told" not to worry. When I needed the information it would be there for me and I would think that it was my own thought. So now when I have knowledge of something I could not possibly know or a great idea that comes to me seemingly out of nowhere, I smile and nod and remember my experience. I am reminded that there is a great deal of support and unconditional love that is always present; I am never alone or forgotten. I knew that sometimes, oftentimes, life did not work out the way I hoped and dreamed that it would. But I will never give up on my dreams – it is the stuff that life is made of. I now understood that health is first and foremost a state of mind. My body responded directly to my thoughts that were super charged by my emotions. To live a fulfilling and meaningful life I needed to stop reacting and start responding ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Motif Of Night In Macbeth In Shakespeare's Macbeth, the motif of night is aggressive like the murders they plot and commit. Night dominates day throughout the play since they commit murders which disrupt the natural order of the world. Macbeth "plays God" by taking someone else's life and therefore they challenge the Elizabethan order of the world. Acts of chaos, like earthquakes and supernatural events, break loose. Macbeth and Lady Macbeth think the night will cover their treacherous deeds. At first, the idea of murdering Duncan frightens Macbeth, but after he kills the two guards, he begins to lose his humanity. In the beginning, Lady Macbeth feels no remorse for the deaths they are responsible for but as the play progresses, Lady Macbeth starts to feel remorse for her and her husband's actions. Although Lady Macbeth and Macbeth hope the night will conceal their sins, instead it illuminates their actions and worsens their guilt. Their actions can never fully hide since they disrupt the natural order of the world and cause chaos. Lady Macbeth and Macbeth call on the night before Duncan's and Banquo's murders and hope that its darkness will be enough to cover the evil deeds they are about to commit. Before Duncan's murder, Lady Macbeth asks the witches to thicken her blood so she does not feel remorse or guilt. She also wishes for a dark and foggy night, when she says: "Come, thick night, and pall thee in the dunnest smoke of hell, that my keen knife see not the wound it makes" (1.5.57–59). She ... • 6. Advertisement Analysis Of Advertisement Perfume advertisements are made to illustrate an atmosphere and personality for a scent that you cannot smell. In the Daisy Trio by Marc Jacobs perfume advertisement femininity, purity, and youthfulness are used to create a persona for the classic daisy scent. In the airy meadows of the countryside on a sunny summer afternoon the director, Sofia Coppola illustrates the idea that being young is sexy and desirable through the elements included in the commercial. The clothing, makeup, body language, and camera techniques are used to sell the Daisy perfume, but also, youth and desire. The commercial opens to delicate, feminine fingertips picking the fragile petals of a white daisy projecting the image of innocence and summertime. The Daisy Trio by Marc Jacobs commercial pictures a group of young girls frolicking among a field of daisies in their white nightgown–like dresses. Sitting together in the tall grassy field telling secrets and crafting the most dainty flower crowns, this young group of girls displays a dream–like quality in nature that is almost angelic. Riding their bikes playfully down a path that leads to a creek with fairy–tale–like greenery, they then lay aside each other reading and discussing while an oversized bottle of the Daisy perfume sits childlike on the lap of a youthful blonde girl. Then three perfume bottles stand–alone front and center as the sun gleams through romantically as the words, "Daisy Marc Jacobs" is whispered softly in the background amidst the song, "The Mother We Share" by Chvrches perfectly closing what seems like a lazy summer afternoon. In the Daisy by Marc Jacobs perfume advertisement the director, Sofia Coppola strives to capture the ideals of youth, innocence, and girliness, but also sophistication and intimacy. The models' clothing and makeup, as well as posture, is very telling of this concept throughout the thirty–second advertisement. The four adolescents skip and play through the meadow in short, white, peasant style nightgown dresses, which immediately project the image of youth, innocence, and girliness to anyone watching. Their makeup is minimal and natural looking with a fresh–faced appearance, which indicates the young age that they are ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

He uses his faith in God to justify his actions and explain the events that transpire in his life, both ordinary and extraordinary. For example, one night when Owen slept over at Johnny's, he developed a fever and as a result ended up sleeping in Tabby's bed. Prior to him entering her bed, Johnny had given him an aspirin and a glass of water, but forgot to turn the light and tap off. As a result, his (Johnny) grandmother had to turn off the utilities. • 8. The Use Of Symbolism In Macbeth Clothes makes the man... or so they say. William Shakespeare uses many literary devices to emphasize important recurring ideas in his plays. One of the techniques Shakespeare uses to illustrate internal conflict is the use of imagery, which allows the audience grasp his intentions through unique representations. The usage of such figurative language inspires an understanding of the plot at a deeper level, as well as to serve specific purposes. One of the most important types of imagery employed in Shakespeare's play Macbeth is the motif of clothing, which is used to symbolize power and conceal evil deeds. The use of clothing in the play is crucial in emphasizing the positions of power in Scotland, as well as how that power suits the person who wields it. At the beginning of Act One, when Ross delivers Macbeth the news that Macbeth is now the Thane of Cawdor, Macbeth questions him by asking "Why do you dress me / In borrowed robes?" (1.3.114–115). The robes Macbeth mentions refer to the new title and power he has been granted, which he doesn't think belongs to him. Banquo notes of Macbeth's uncertainty in his new titles, and assures Macbeth that "like our strange garments, cleave not to their mold / But with the aid of use" (1.4.160–162). Banquo reasons that the longer Macbeth has the title, the more familiar and better fitting the role would suit him. However, Banquo's claims does not seem to come true, as the clothing Macbeth wears continues to be ill– fitting. Another ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 9. Blackbird And Disillusionment Both "Thirteen Ways of Looking a Blackbird" and "Disillusionment of Ten O'Clock" deal with the idea of perception and subjectivity. What other similarities do you see? What are the major differences in how this idea is presented? First there is The Disillusionment of Ten O'Clock. Imagery is used in the first line of the poem to bring attention to the audience that the "houses are haunted by white nightgowns." Being "haunted" in the beginning referred to the ghosts or people residing in the house. These humans can resemble a ghost because they possess the traits of cold, empty, and dead like–features. • 10. Romeo And Juliet Compare And Contrast Shakespeare's play Romeo and Juliet has been made into many different art forms. One of the main ways that the play is portrayed is in film. The 1968 Franco Zeffirelli version of Romeo and Juliet differs from the 1997 Baz Luhrmann version called William Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet. The balcony scene is each movies highlights many differences in each film. These two scenes differ in setting, believability, and costumes. In the balcony scene in each versions of this play the setting is very different. In each balcony scene Juliet was preparing to go to bed, so she was wearing her pajamas. In Zeffirelli's version Juliet was dressed to go to sleep, but she was wearing a very uncomfortable looking, very tight, "showy" nightgown. While as in the Luhrmann's version Juliet was also wearing a nightgown. But she wore one that was fit to actually go to sleep in, something more comfortable and reasonable. Both of these scenes have very similar costumes, but in the 1997 Luhrmann's version the outfit that Juliet has to wear in my opinion, is a lot more reasonable and believable for what Juliet would be wearing at that time of night, and Romeo looks casual and reasonable because the party just ended, for that reason I feel that Luhrmann's version is a lot more reasonable making it ... The San Francisco Earthquake of 1906 went down in history as one of the most deathifying, tragic earthquakes of all time. The main character in the fictional novel Dragonwings describes this earthquake as he lives through it. The main character, Moon Shadow, can only describe the earthquake to a certain point, whereas a factual short story called "The Great 1906 Earthquake and Fires of San Francisco", can provide a much broader span of information. Furthermore, societal pressures also result to girls being forces to dream in a certain way – like wanting a traditional marriage and striving to become the perfect wives to their husbands. The husband, interestingly, is portrayed as a mannequin. The mannequin husband suggests that he is luring girls, as mannequins in stores serve the purpose of luring consumers to buy the item of clothing. Also, the mannequin suggests how numb he is to the wife and the idea of marriage because most males in society are not faced with society's constant pressures to behave or want certain things. Society enforces this standard to mold women into believing that they want this dream – to get married, live in a nice home, and raise kids, and that it will ultimately lead them to a happier state. However, men in our society are not put to the same standard. The audience comes to know that behind this happy front and life the housewife is leading, her husband is having an extramarital affair with another woman. Worried that she might lose her husband, the wife is seen to work harder around the house. The girl tries to be the wife that she has been influenced by society to be, hoping that it will save her marriage with her partner. This is an idea society has promoted – if something goes wrong in a relationship, it is the woman's fault. A woman should always aim to please her husband and continue being ... • 17. How Does Shakespeare Create Identity In Macbeth Someone can only be two–faced for so long before the authenticity of ones true self overcomes the disguise. Macbeth attempted to hide a part of himself in the play only to be revealed at the end. Throughout Macbeth Shakespeare used the motifs of blood, titles, and masks to gradually reveal Macbeth's true desires. At the beginning of the play Macbeth is a respected warrior, loved by his country. Shakespeare uses the motif of blood throughout the play, but in Act 1 the only bloodshed is from the thane of Cawdor, enemy of Scotland. He was "unseamed from the naves to the chops" by Macbeth, which was seen as an act of valor. Macbeth's murderous heart is only disguised by the blood of battle, so people are unable to see beyond the warrior he is. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Macbeth questions himself "Will all great Neptune's ocean wash this blood / clean from my hand?" which shows his remorse for the person he has become, or been this whole time. At this point Macbeth is still fighting to find his identity between his two faces, as shown by the contrast in his actions and his remorse for them. This aids the gradual reveal in his true identity with the use of blood rather than just stating the change. By now those who are suspicious of Macbeth are beginning to catch on to the other side of him, and they begin to refer to him as "black Macbeth," or "devilish Macbeth." This is an obvious change from the royal and respectful titles at the beginning of the play and the reader can see the change not only in Macbeth, but what some people have begun to see in him. Lady Macbeth also tries to hide what her husband has done, using their nightgowns to mask their deeds of that night: killing Duncan. She says to Macbeth, "get on your nightgown, lest occasion call us / And show us no be watchers," telling him to hide under a new set of clothes and the illusion that they've been asleep. Macbeth has committed murder, yet we still do not see his truest desires because it is being masked. The middle of the play is comparable to a half mood; the reader is able to see Macbeth's dark heart, but it has ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Macbeth Quotes From Banquo Character: Banquo Partner: Macbeth Quotation #1: "All's well./ I dreamt last night of the three Weïrd Sisters./ To you they have showed some truth" (Mac. 2.1.24–26). Translation: All is fine. Tonight I dreamed of the Weïrd Sisters. They have showed some truth in what they foretold about you. Fighting for: Banquo is fighting to calm Macbeth. Banquo does not know why Macbeth is awake, but as his friend he wants to ensure that Macbeth is fine, able to relax and return to sleep. Banquo is also explaining why he is awake. Banquo strives to convey his worries over the Weïrd Sisters and their encounter with them. Circumstances: Banquo is awake because his thoughts are troubled over his encounter with the Weïrd Sisters. The Weïrd Sisters foretell that Banquo's children will become kings. In order for this to occur, one of Banquo's sons would have to commit a regicide. This thought is so terrifying that it is preventing Banquo from sleeping. Meanwhile, Macbeth is about to commit a regicide and pauses on his journey to converse with Banquo. Poetic Device: The second line scans in iambic pentameter, whereas the third line does not scan. There is assonance on the long "e" sound of three, and Weïrd. There is alliteration on the "w" of well, and Weïrd. There is consonance on the "d" sound of dreamt, Weïrd, and showed, on the "r" sound of three, Weïrd, Sisters, and truth, and on the "t" sound of dreamt, last, night, Sisters, to, and truth. Conclusion: Night is used to explain when Banquo thinkings about the Weïrd Sisters. The words imply that they are in the back of his mind constantly and present enough for him to dream about them. The night is when Banquo subconsciously ponders their mysteries. Night also signifies that this though happened recently and the time was important. Scheiner's painting presents Lady Macbeth as scary with her long black hair that covers most of her face and her mouth wide open. • 27. How Fashion Grew Into A Very Important And Valuable Idea Throughout the 15th, 16th, and 17th century, the concept of fashion grew into a very important and valuable idea. Between the years of 1450 and 1648, men's upper and lower class fashion and women's upper and lower class fashion was drastically improved by modern technology and culture. If you were any sort of noble figure, you would have always looked completely put together no matter where you were going. No matter what class you were in, you desired to look your best even though there was a vast difference in what each class wore. Lower classmen opted for clothing that was easy to move and work in, while upper classmen opted for big, costume–like clothing. This was a result of new, modern technology. Upper class fashion was definitely the most voluminous, and heavy style of the three classes. For men's, women's, and children's outfits there were multiple layers, with many different colors, and a large amount of accessories. "Contrasting fabrics, slashes, embroidery, applied trims, and other forms of surface ornamentation became prominent." (Romanova) For men, the outfits always started with a simple dress shirt similar to dress shirts men wear today, but without the collar. Instead of a fold over collar, there was a drawstring that was tied to form a large ruffle around the neck. Over this dress shirt you would find a doublet. • 34. Theme Of Clothing In Macbeth The clothing and disguises appear repeatedly in Macbeth, but they are especially significant in terms of the unfamiliar, foreboding atmosphere that begins to envelop the entire kingdom of Scotland. The Macbeths themselves are the characters that contribute to this motif the most, disguising their true feelings and intentions from their king, their friends, and even each other: "These deeds must not be thought/ After these ways. So, it will make us mad" (2.2.37–38). Here, Lady Macbeth advises her husband against wallowing in his own guilt and dread, though only pages ago she herself admitted to having to become intoxicated in order to carry out the murderous plot. "Get on your nightgown, lest occasion call us/ And show us to be watchers" (2.2.73–74). Lady Macbeth literally tells Macbeth to put on a nightgown to give others the preconceived notion that he was asleep during the murder; however, she is also commanding him to disguise his nervousness and fear to avoid suspicion. This "false face" prevents the king's killer from being brought to justice; when killers begin to go free as good men die, the world begins to descend into chaos. Lust is typically looked down upon and with caution; on the other hand, it can be seen as the protagonist of different verses. Imagist poet William Carlos Williams' approach to love is one society deems unconventional. There are rare occurrences where both of these emotions are used simultaneously to describe what a person once shared with another person. The poem begins with the speaker seeing the housewife in her nightgown through the window, at ten A.M., and within that moment she walked outside her house still dressed in her negligee. This suggests that the young housewife saw the speaker of the poem driving past her house through the window. When the speaker mentions the housewife was uncorseted, it indicates the lust the speaker has imagined when her body was seen since being "uncorseted" has to do with the noticing and looking the upper body of a woman. The speaker describes the young housewife tucking in the strands of her hair showing that the speaker of the poem was able to get a look at the young housewife's appearance. After addressing him, Johnny decided to show his most dominant trait by expressing himself under a premise of disrespect. "Johnny will you please go and clean that room of yours" "No mom, I need to catch the bus" "The bus doesn 't leave for another 15 minutes you have time" "Why don't you clean you are not doing anything" Nothing made me more mad then when my kids "mouthed off" after all that I had done for them. After Johnny "mouthed off" I was so infuriated I felt as if there was steam about to come out of my ears. Johnny noticed this anger building up inside me and busted out the front door. One would have thought a rabid dog was chasing him, but I wasn't rabid. He ran and got on the bus before I could get to him. On average a young adolescent runs a mile in 7 minutes(Let 's Run). I pulled up to the school, just as the bus was rolling up, and I started to get out of the car when I saw a broom in the back seat. I decided I would use that as a fear factor prop to convey my message. I saw Johnny sitting in the back of the bus when he glanced out of the window and saw me standing there.
