Question seven
1. Question seven:
Looking back at your preliminary task, what do you feel you have
learnt in the progression from it to the full product?
2.
3. When I am comparing my preliminary task to my final production I can see a clear
difference in production. My final product looks a lot more professional than my
preliminary task. The image on both front covers is completely different, my
preliminary photo is poorly edited out due to the fact it was a new software, also it
looks very blurry as I only used my phone to take the image and I used a
professional camera to take my final product image. Also the colour scheme of
preliminary was purple which didn't contrast to the image that I used which also
made my magazine look a lot less professional and made it look very messy
whereas in my final the photo looks a lot more professional and links in to the
indie genre of the magazine, which makes it a lot more professional and effective
for my target audience. Also the colour scheme in relation to the picture works
well, because I decided to use a cool toned cream background with a bright image
but my artist wears dark clothes which makes the image stand out on the cream
background, and grips the audiences attention which is exactly what I need to
increase sales. Also I used different types of software for my final product. I used
Photoshop for both my preliminary front cover and contents page, but then I used
a software called In Design to design my final production of my contents page. It is
obvious the difference it has made, and has a vast improvement continuously
throughout comparing.

5. • When I am comparing my preliminary task image next to
my final production image, it is evident that the quality is
different. For my preliminary task image I used my phone
which made the image look pixelated when the image was
resized, this downgraded the quality of the image and
clearly showed a blurry contrast. Also the image was hard
to cut out as my artist wasn't against a white wall, instead
he was behind a background with many detail which made
it extremely difficult to get a clean and smooth finish. On
the other hand my final production image gives off an
‘indie style’ feel vibe. The artist is dressed in appropriate
clothing and also it will attract a lot of female attention as
my artist on the image is an attractive male. Also the
difference between both images is very noticeable. I took a
lot of time picking and taking the right image for my final
production image. I did take many photos as I thought it
was essential to get the right and best image possible.

7. • The colour scheme of my preliminary task wasn’t thought
through properly, I picked a lilac colour for my front cover and
a plain boring white background. I never really took in
consideration how important the colour scheme could be, the
colours I picked clash with each other and took plain and
boring. The colour scheme on my final production piece flows
with each other and matches the colours of the ‘indie’ genre. I
decided on a cool toned front cover so that the image didn’t
clash with my images or any of my text, I thought this would
be beneficial as the image is the most important part of the
front cover and I believe that it makes my main image stand
out more and jumps out at my target audience which was
exactly what I was looking for. This will probably make more
people want to buy my magazine as I am using a lighter
background against a darker image. Also I carried on the black
background theme throughout my contents page and my
double page spread as I wanted to have white text on top of a
dark background so it is clear to read the text inside my
magazine.
