1. Looking Back At The Preliminary
Task, What Do You Feel You
Have Learnt In The Progression
From It To A Full Product?
2. ADOBE Photoshop
Looking back at when I used ADOBE Photoshop for the preliminary task, I
had the basic knowledge of how to make a basic magazine cover and contents
page. I used these skills for my main task, however I also used the new
skills I had developed throughout the coursework. I done research on
youtube.com to find out how to do certain things on ADOBE Photoshop if I
was stuck on a specific thing.
3. Language
As I carried out a large amount of research, I took careful notice of what
would be included in features such as, cover lines. I think development in my
language is evident when comparing my preliminary task to my main task.
The language is much more suited to the magazine and a lot more
sophisticated. I feel the language I use now is more likely to catch the
attention of the audience, in comparison to the language in my preliminary
task.
4. Time Management
For the preliminary task, I had limited control over things like when the
photoshoot took place, where it took place and who was the model.
Therefore time management was not really crucial as there was allocated
times for everyone to get there work done. Whereas, when I was
completing my main task, I had to find time to find a suitable model, find a
suitable place to hold the photoshoot and when the photoshoot would take
place. The first photoshoot I done I did not use for my final product, which
meant I had to make more time to do another photoshoot. Luckily, I had
enough time as I planned ahead for this to happen.
5. Drafting And Planning
Drafting and planning my magazine cover, contents page and double page
spread was crucial as I always knew what I had done and what I still had to
do and what I wanted to achieve by the end of the coursework. By planning
it allowed me to have enough time to do another photoshoot and create a
whole new front cover, contents page and double page spread.
6. Understanding My Genre
I researched many different Pop magazines and analysed them a while before
I started any construction. This allowed me to be completely clear on what
I had to do to achieve a magazine that applied to the conventions of a Pop
magazine.
7. Colour Scheme
The colour scheme I chose for my preliminary task did not have much
thought behind it. I chose colours that I thought looked professional on the
magazine, but did not have many connotations behind them. However, for the
main task, the colour scheme was carefully selected as I thought of the
connotations behind each colour and what the audience would think when they
saw them.
8. Representations
In the prelim task that I had to create, it was aimed at College students.
This made it quite simple to represent as I used school books and a student
in a smart school uniform. However, for the main task it was a bit more
tricky to represent the genre as there are many different social groups to
appeal to which could be represented in a variety of different ways.
