2. Snake
• Denotation
– Reptile, scaly, sneaky,
camouflaged
• Connotation
– Evil, devil has a fork tongue and so does
the snake giving evil connotation.
– Black beady eyes which is a connotation of
death and distruction
3. Flag
• Denotation
– Britain/ Scottish/ England/Cornish flag
• Connotation
– The flag is flying high which shows
dominance and dignity.
– The angle of the camera is from the
bottom to the top show the superiority of
Britain
4. Gun
• Denotation
– Bullets/ loud gunshots/ damage
• Connotation
-- death because people use guns to
kill which symbolises evil.
5. American sniper
The colours in American sniper are quite
dull and camouflaged just like the life of a
sniper because the have to stay out of
sight at all times and sit for hours in one
place which can be dull and boring. The
colours also makes it seem very serious.
The actor in American sniper is Bradley
cooper and he fits the role well because he
can play the role of an US solider and looks
a lot like the actual American sniper Chris
Kyle. The location is set in Iraq where a
terrorist organisation called al-Qaeda are
in control of Iraq and the American sniper
is assigned to kill the leader Abu Musab al-
Zarqawi. Bradley cooper wears the uniform
of an US solider, the same uniform as
Chris Kyle did when he was a sniper as it is
a film based around the life of Chris Kyle.
The Remington 700 Long Action
chambered to fire a .300 Winchester
Magnum round is the sniper that was
recreated in the film American sniper as is
was Chris Kyles favourite sniper
6. Horizon zero dawn
Horizon zero dawn is a PlayStation
exclusive game which is about earth
and it gets over run by robots and
wipes out the human race then over
time the humans find ways of
destroying the robots and start
fighting back. The colours used are
vibrant and natural to attract the
users and makes the game realistic.
The character, Aloy is a woman that is
rebelling against the robots and she
wears animal skins and has a
bow-n-arrow as there is no modern
weapons. The location is earth but it is
all over grown because there has been
no humans to maintain it. The lighting
is very bright and the natural
elements are very colourful to express
the surroundings and graphics of the
game. Also it makes the game more
realistic which is more enjoyable and
fun.
7. Coca cola poster
The background colours on this coca
cola poster are quite dull with a bold
brown text which makes customers
drawn to the text and remember it
more the coca cola bottle is very large
and takes up most of the poster
So people know what they're getting
and a photo of the product in the poster
is good because it shows the customer
what they're getting.
The location of the poster is everything.
The location needs to be where you
audience are going to be to increase the
amount of people purchasing the
product. If you were the coke was for
children you wouldn’t put it in a care
home for old people because no one
from your target audience would see it,
you put the posters in a park to increase
the amount of views on it.
8. Soundtrack
• The first audio clip suggests that the character is lazy and
always sleeps which is usually used in comedies.
• The second audio clip is the nature and lots of wasps which
suggests the character was in danger or in a place of nature
exploring
• The third audio clip is from the horror genre and it seems as if
the character was hiding from something then it finds them so
the have to run.
• The fourth clip is taken from a romantic genre and I thought it
was towards the end of a film and it was a happy ending like a
reunion or a Christmas scene with a family and everything is
happy and lively
9. Shining
• The backing music is a lively and upbeat song
• The narrator has a normal happy voice which gives a
sense that it isn’t a serious film and funny instead.
• The clips don’t show the full clips and only show
parts which make it seem as if it was a romantic film.
• The trailer doesn’t show tense action and if it does
the tension is cancelled out by the positivity of the
backing music and narrator.
10. Scary Mary
• Mary Poppins is made out to be a bad person
because of the captions and backing music
• The backing music is scary which gives a dark out
look on the whole trailer.
• There are lots of flash's in between clips which
makes it seem as something is wrong with scary
Mary.
• When the children get scared there is always a
clip of Mary before to imply that Mary is one
scaring them.

death
• Darth Vader's lightsaber is red which connotes danger
and power
• The music is power and goes well along side the action
• There are lots of medium shots so that you can see that
full action.
• The background colouring in the clip was quite dull so
the viewers eyes were drawn to the fight scene more
