reptile

untrustworthy (probably a
result of the serpent in the
Garden of Eden)
3. Flag

rectangular, of distinctive color
and design, used as a symbol,

• Denotation

• Connotation
– The bringing of death upon an
individual
5. The tagline implies there is chaos
further adding to the dark and
exciting vibe they are trying to show
The title is bold and the
logo is striking which
ensures that peoples
attention will be drawn in
and they will remember it
An explosion is key
especially in an action film
as it foreshadows the
excitement that is still up
to come
The background image sets
tone and location without
giving away important
information about the film.
All the dark colours and
smoke reinforce this as
well as creating
atmosphere which is
shown all over this poster
The image of the lead/main
character seems angry and
is in a mysterious pose
which creates excitement
for viewer
The logo is something many
people are familiar with
allowing them to recognize
the movie. The fire adds a
dark twist, creating interest
and signifying a change in the
tone from previous films
Posters occupy a space between art and advertising
they have a clear commercial purpose- to promote a
product or event- but they also have an artistic value.
6. This background gives away
the fact that the movie is set
in London so the film is
obviously going to be very
British
The explosion and the guns
show that this film is going
to have action in it which
brings excitement to the
audience
The alcohol he is holding suggests
although this is very action looking
it is foreshadowing there is some
comedy in the movie too
The poster is very grey at
the top in the clouds this
foreshadows that
something terrible or evil
will happen or try to
happen
The title on the poster is
big and bold all in capitals
and it draws them in
seeing these two
opposites and actually
thinking that they are
brothers
7. The two people are at the
front are the two characters
you get to play as in the
game and the whole of the
storyline will revolve around
these two
Everything in this poster is
grey so it backs up the point
that the world is destroyed
and its very apocalyptic
looking so will be able to
depict from this that it is a
zombie nuclear war survival
game
The location shows that it is very out of
the way like in the countryside but most
of the building in the game will be
collapsing and they wont have cars
that’s why they are riding horses
The poster goes from light to dark
to show that maybe there is some
hope in the world and that relates
to the fact it could be these two
8. Soundtrack
• Clip 1
– Horror/thriller
– Something terrible is about to happen but you
don’t know what it is just in the moment. The
characters should be scared as anything could
happen.
• Clip 2
– Fantasy
– Something magical is about to happen like
maybe the two characters have fallen in love
and it is a romance music genre and this is them
about to kiss.
9. Shining
• The shining is originally speaking a horror movie but this trailer appears more to
the lighter side and that is why you can call it a romantic comedy. It shows the man
as he is doing activities such as dancing which is romantic and a child on a tricycle.
The music in the trailer is really happy and upbeat which is very humorous and
appeals to the comedic side of the audience. The editing just shows all the fun and
best moments in the clip all together from the movie which reinforces the upbeat
music.
10. Scary Mary
• The clip is taken from the movie Mary Poppins it is conveyed across as a horror in
this trailer. This is done by the colours the trailer is very dark throughout which
sets the atmosphere of the horror genre. Also there are continuous points which
back this up throughout like the jack in the box because they make you jump and
are considered creepy. The music is very slow and eerie which is very horror like
and even with the clip it makes the audience feel adrenalized.

18. Clip Analysis
• From this clip I conclude that it is a sci-Fi clip because of the lightsabers
(weapons) and the ship at the end of the clip. It is all very dark when it
comes to darth Vader because it portrays the fact that he is evil. The music
sets the tone for the sci fi movie giving away it is a very dark and eerie
mood. The clip is also shown a bit in the action genre as there is an
explosions in the clip. The lightsabers are red and blue to represent light/
the good guys where as red does the opposite. The dialogue adds
emphasis to the clip as its more interesting as if you were just watching
the clip without any sound.
