Whydo you think we have an increase in population?
POPULATION GROWTH a change in population over time, and can be quantified as the change in the number of individuals of any species in a population using "per unit time" for measurement.
FERTILITY Natural capability of giving life. As a measure, "fertility rate" is the number of children born per couple, person or population. FECUNDITY Derived from the word fecund, generally refers to the ability to reproduce.
BIOLOGICAL FACTORS THAT MAY AFFECT FECUNDITY HEREDITY HEALTH AGE OVULATION CYCLE LACTATION PREGNANCY WASTAGE
BIOLOGICAL FACTORS THAT MAY AFFECT FECUNDITY HEREDITY HEALTH AGE passing of traits to offspring (from its parent or ancestors) in a process by which an offspring cell acquires the characteristics of its parent cell "a state of complete physical, mental, and social well-being and not merely the absence of disease or infirmity" the most optimum age to have children is between the ages of 23 and 35
BIOLOGICAL FACTORS THAT MAY AFFECT FECUNDITY OVULATION CYCLE
BIOLOGICAL FACTORS THATMAY AFFECT FECUNDITY secretion of milk from the mammary glands, the process of providing that milk to the young Miscarriage (nakunan) Stillbirth (sanggolnainiluwalnawalangbuhay) LACTATION PREGNANCY WASTAGE
Beliefs and other practices that influences fertility Parenthood means fulfillment Proved that they are a real man and woman Belief of becoming more manly by having more children. MACHISMO Hoping for a son to inherit their father’s name PERPETUATION OF FAMILY NAME

CAUSE OF OVERPOPULATION Ignorance Uninformed or unaware Delinquency Failure to do what law or duty requires. Peer pressure Influence exerted by a peer group in encouraging a person to change his or her attitudes, values, or behavior in order to conform to group norms.
SOME EFFECTS OF OVERPOPULATION Abandoned/aborted/abused children Poverty Unemployment Insufficient food supply (*malnutrition) Pollution Diseases Elevated crime rate Crowded living areas
POSSIBLE SOLUTION ON OVER POPULATION Proper Education Family Planning Natural Artificial Discipline Faith
Natural Family Planning (NFP) It is a method used to help a couple determine when sexual intercourse can and cannot result in pregnancy. During the menstrual cycle, a number of changes occur in a woman's body. By keeping track of these changes, couples can plan when to have intercourse and when to avoid intercourse, depending on whether they are trying to achieve or avoid pregnancy.

PHILIPPINE POPULATION MANAGEMENT PROGRAM (PPMP) Helping the country achieve a sustainable population level, structure, distribution and quality in order to empower Filipinos to acquire a better quality of life both within the family and the society at large. The program is guided by certain principles about human life, marriage, family, and environment, as provided for in the Philippine Constitution and embedded in our religious and cultural beliefs.
PHILIPPINE POPULATION MANAGEMENT PROGRAM (PPMP) Values and Principles of the PPMP 1. Respect for the sanctity of human life and the rejection of abortion 2. The family as the center of all development 3. Marriage as the foundation of the family 4. Respect for freedom of conscience, religious convictions, and the right to choose 5. Respect for the environment
NATIONAL STATISTICS OFFICE (NSO)  Philippine government's major statistical agency responsible in collecting, compiling, classifying, producing, publishing, and disseminating general-purpose statistics as provided for in Commonwealth Act No. 591.
UNITED STATES AGENCY FOR INTERNATIONAL DEVELOPMENT (U-SAID) 2005-2009 "Enhanced security and accelerated progress towards sustainable, equitable growth“ Starting in FY 2007, the above strategy has been refocused into five areas: PEACE AND SECURITY About 60% of economic assistance resources are targeted to Mindanao, for programs that promote economic growth, mitigate conflict, and promote peace and security. The United States is also helping improve the ability of military and civilian law enforcement agencies to maintain peace and security. GOVERNING JUSTLY AND DEMOCRATICALLY The United States continues to support efforts to promote good governance at the local and national levels, improve electoral systems, and promote rule of law. Many programs across other sectors, including in security, health, education, and natural resource management, also contribute to improved governance, especially at the local level.
UNITED STATES AGENCY FOR INTERNATIONAL DEVELOPMENT (U-SAID) INVESTING IN PEOPLE The United States assists the Philippines in health and education. Health programs include reproductive health, maternal and child health, TB, HIV/AIDS and avian flu preparedness. Education programs increase access to and the quality of basic education in the conflict-affected areas of Mindanao. ECONOMIC GROWTH The United States helps address constraints to trade and investment, improve regulatory quality, and improve tax collection. The United States implements programs that spur micro-enterprise growth, improve economic infrastructure, increase agricultural productivity, enhance the employability of youth, and help manage over-exploited forest, coastal, and marine resources. HUMANITARIAN ASSISTANCE The United States provides humanitarian assistance to victims of natural disasters and internally-displaced persons in conflict affected areas. In 2007, the United States provided $5 million in typhoon reconstruction assistance in Bicol provinces.
POPULATION COMMISION (Pop Com) -to help the country achieve a sustainable population level, structure, distribution and quality in order to empower Filipinos to acquire a better quality of life both within the family and the society at large.
DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH (DoH) The Department of Health (DOH) is the principal health agency in the Philippines. It is responsible for ensuring access to basic public health services to all Filipinos through the provision of quality health care and regulation of providers of health goods and services.
JOINT UNITED NATIONS PROGRAMME ON HIV/AIDS (UNAIDS) -to help the country achieve a sustainable population level, structure, distribution and quality in order to empower Filipinos to acquire a better quality of life both within the family and the society at large.
What was Noynoy Aquino envisioned for the Philippines in terms of population when he ran for presidency? (Angkanyangplataporma...)
Population and EnvironmentAim: Encourage sustainable use of resources; plan alternative and inclusive urban development where people of varying income levels are integrated in productive, healthy and safe communities. Noynoy will promote ecotourism by mobilizing grassroots communities into environmental preservation efforts and sustainable tourism programs. He will also establish a national sanitation program that will provide access to sanitary toilets, thereby protecting bodies of water from domestic waste contamination.
Government Resources and Population DynamicsAim: Uphold clean governance by enforcing transparency and accountability in government allocation and spending. Establish a truly impartial system of institutions that deliver equal justice to rich or poor. Noynoy caused quite a stir when he assured Filipinos that he would not impose new taxes or increase current tax rates. He will augment the deficiency in the national budget through efficient tax collection and implementing higher customs duties. Noynoy is optimistic that the whopping $6 billion that gets squandered yearly in corrupt dealings will be used to increase the ranks of the middle class through micro financing and to revitalize the economy. He supports the Freedom of Information Bill and plans to review the RP-US Visiting Forces Agreement. Noynoy also guarantees that tax evaders and smugglers will be brought to justice.
Population and Food SupplyAim: Invest in farms and rural enterprises to achieve food security, sustained productivity and more equitable economic growth. Support and modernize the agricultural sector. Noynoy sees “freedom from hunger” as a means to empower the Filipino people. He plans to provide jobs that will enable our countrymen not just to feed themselves but to elevate their quality of life. Noynoy will also boost industries, including agribusiness, and enhance productivity in the agricultural sector through policies and programs.
Population and HousingAim: Provide adequate housing and uphold every Filipino’s right to a decent home. Noynoy’s government will focus on area upgrading and in-city resettlement through the Community Mortgage Program (CMP) and award land to poor families though the Comprehensive Land Use Plans of LGUs. Noynoy guarantees enough housing funds by means of the Comprehensive and Integrated Shelter Financing Act (CISFA) and by mobilizing LGUs, NGOs and private sectors. He will also put an end to illegal evictions and provide quality housing with sufficient basic services and opportunities for livelihood.
Population and EducationAim: Reduce poverty and build national competitiveness by prioritizing and investing in quality education. Noynoy plans to work closely with the LGUs to build more schools. He also proposes a 12-Year Basic Education Cycle with a universal pre-school system so every child will be a reader by Grade 1. He also supports UNESCO’s tried-and-tested formula for mother tongue instruction from pre-school to Grade 3. Noynoy’s basic education agenda will strengthen science and math curricula for global competitiveness. Madaris education with subjects in Arabic Language and Islamic Values Education will also be integrated in the public school curriculum as additional subjects for Muslim Filipino children. No less than accurate and quality textbooks will be used and Technical Vocational Education will be offered as an alternative in senior high school.
Population and HealthAim: Establish universal health care and push for the Responsible Parenthood bill. Noynoy will ensure access and equity in health care by making health services and basic medicines available to all Filipinos. He will streamline health infrastructure and ensure a holistic and comprehensive Health Care System. Philhealth benefits will include outpatient health care. He has also promised to quit smoking.
Population and EmploymentAim: Empower the people and provide them with opportunities to rise above poverty. Generate jobs and better opportunities for Filipinos. Ensure the welfare and protect the rights of OFWs. Noynoy will launch major and labor-intensive public works programs that will create jobs. He will also ensure that workers will avail of SSS and other benefits. His government will encourage full-employment and global competitiveness, as well as entrepreneurship and pro-poor tourism.

  • 33. What was Noynoy Aquino envisioned for the Philippines in terms of population when he ran for presidency? (Angkanyangplataporma...)
  • 41. OthersThe Aquino government also aims to implement reforms in the Judiciary; revive peace talks in Mindanao while pushing for its development; and promote equal gender opportunity in all spheres of public policies and curb gender disparities. A lot of these are sound policies. But like what Noynoy said in an interview with Lila Shahani for Philippine Graphic, “The Philippines already has decent laws. What is far more critical is the implementation gap.” So can he deliver all these? The Filipinos will once again play the game of wait and see.
