2. Importance and Function
● Inside a digipack is essentially the packaging of the artists’ brand, around
their product, the CD.
● The digipack typically has various photos of an artist in order to establish a
connection between consumer and producer.
● It also gives out information and artist acknowledgment the audience may not
be aware of, a good way to gain exposure if you’re a manager/producer etc.
● Typically, on the outside there is the artist name on the front and side, with a
tracklist being on the back. However artists challenge these conventions more
and more nowadays. The benefit of bold branding for my product is that it
establishes a definite identity.
3. Essentially...
● Digipacks make money
● They promote the artist
● They build a fanbase
● They create and promote an artist’s image
● Reflect image portrayed in the music videos
The digipack function is to promote a brand. It is not intertwined with the product, it
is more of a business tactic.
4. It’s also good to...
● Promote tour dates/festivals
● Get the artist name and album name out into the public
● Expose release dates of further products
● Give away exclusives
● Promote record label logos
● Show an artist website
5. Relevance to my production
By implementing these key, traditional features into my product, it gives me a good
opportunity to reach my target audience. It also provides good experience for
going into future tasks in further studies in which you need a knowledge of the
techniques used in the industry.
