EMONT Magazines
1.
2. Another publishing company...
As part of my research in order to
answer the question, “What kind of
media institution might distribute
your media product and why?” I
thought that it would be appropriate
to find another publishing company
independently. I also intended to search
for the publisher who creates the
magazine that inspired me (We love
pop) while creating my own music
magazine.
3. We Love Pop
We love pop inspired me because,
after selecting my target audience, it
helped me to identify what my
audience find interesting and what
attracts them. In addition, while the
magazine is not a music magazine, it still gave me a good
idea of how I should lay out my magazine and what
colours will attract my target audience.
4. After looking into which media company publishes We
love pop I realised that it was not a company that I
have already covered so I have decided to use this as
my independent research company too. The name of
this company is EGMONT.
5. EGMONT...
Egmont is the UK's biggest children's publisher
They publish only for children: they're their main focus
not a sideline
Egmont Group, Scandinavian in origin, is one of the
world's biggest media companies
They're a private company owned by a charitable
foundation
They sell more than 25 million books and 12 million
magazines a year
They are number 2 in the UK children's book
market, number 1 in the character book market and
number 2 in magazines
They have a team of more than 200 people based in
their new London offices
Their titles and authors are loved by children, parents
and teachers
They're “big enough to have an impact, small enough
to care”
7. Magazines...
EGMONT offer a wide range of magazines with both a
varied age range and genre to appeal to large target
audiences. The following slides
demonstrate just a few examples
of this...
12. Advertising
Egmont Magazines offers advertisers a wealth of standard and tailored
creative solutions across their portfolio of 19 titles targeting children
from 2-16. Based on a client’s core objectives they can deliver a range of
solutions that can provide direct response, data-capture and where
necessary product-sampling.
Their solution, based ideas are both innovative and interactive because
they know that their dual audience – mums and children are more
receptive to messages that offer total engagement and often requiring
the child to do something on the page. Depending on the product and
target audience, they offer cross-title packages that give you maximum
and targeted exposure.
Examples of creative solution formats are advertorials, switch-
cover, sponsored editorial, competitions, covermounts and many more
besides.
13. One advertising technique they use on the main
EGMOT site is, where you can view the range of
magazines they publish they have direct links for each
of the magazines to their own individual websites.
14. A further advertising technique that EGMONT use on
their website is to provide customers with the
information about where they can buy their products
from.
