Authenticity And Cover Song Analysis
The theory of authorship often challenge the ideals of authenticity, especially within the context of
cover songs. This is due to the fact that the composer of the song is a separate entity from the
performer. Society has often valued composer–performers as it has been encoded in culture within
the past century. "the attempt to understand the past in terms of the past is – paradoxically – an
absolutely contemporary phenomenon." Authenticity is a historically specific abstraction and
therefore, will continuously be subjected to reconsiderations as our societal construction of
authenticity changes through time. A cover version is seemingly an art form that contains a thin line
that dictates the authentic an artist presents their image within ... Show more content on

Sincerity therefore emerges as an intrinsic factor within the concepts of both authorship and
authenticity. "Sincerity and autobiography are techniques one can employ in the service of personal
authenticity, just as using traditional instruments and singing old songs are techniques one can use in
the service of cultural authenticity." The guitar solo proposes an interesting interaction with the rock
genre and a possible reference to the version of Word Up performed by the rock band, Gun. While
this is not the same solo included in Gun's version, it is similar in construction and tone thus
demonstrating and evolution of the piece as it is passes through each artist's rendition. As a result of
this, Little Mix have provided an authentic essence of a previous rendition within the style of rock
while maintaining the songs original pop based anthem sound. Through this analysis, it is apparent
that compositions, even within the composer's mind are rarely concrete and alterations through time
are inevitable. The notion of authenticity can consequently be challenged as society endeavours to
find that which is

Critical Analysis: Covers
Critical Analysis: Covers
The song set this critical analysis chose is 'Smells Like Teen Spirit' (Nirvana), 'Bootylicious'
(Destiny's Child), and 'Smells Like Bootylicious' (2Many DJs). This paper's purpose is to argue that
the type of cover version is transformative. For starters, this paper is going to analyse two of the
original songs respectively and then turn to do a more detailed comparison among them and their
mash–up cover.
'Smells Like Teen Spirit' (Nirvana) – as according to the analytical categories, several parts can be
discussed here.
As for sound sources, guitar is definitely the core of the song, and its chords were double tracked so
that the song presents a strong sense of power and a rush of adrenaline. Bassline, drum and ... Show

This mash–up cover extracts all the highlight from both of the two original songs. Such as, it starts
with the familiar and main guitar riff from 'smells like teen spirit' and then followed the famous
opening of 3 women's whispering 'do you think you can handle this'; and the perfect mixing of the
first exciting 8–bar pre–chorus (when the drum and bass entered) of 'smell' and the sexy cheers of 3
women from 'bootylicious'; also, the repetition of 'hello' coupled with 3 women's vocals build up a

Writing Your Cover Letter
Writing Your Cover Letter: What Important Points Are You Missing?
According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS), every resume that you submit to a potential
employer needs a cover letter. The purpose of the cover letter is to arouse interest and highlight core
competencies. Below explains
Separate your Resume and Cover Letter
One of the most common mistakes that job seekers make is to simply summarize their resume in
their cover letter. However, the primary purpose of the cover letter is to express your interest and
particular interest in the specific position. Therefore, use the cover letter as an opportunities to
express your personality and share your passion for your industry. For example, you could share
examples from your personal and work life that highlight your passion for the position and industry.
Proofread for Perfection ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, a well–written cover letter doesn't mean that content is engaging and even interesting.
Proofread for content quality to ensure that your cover letter smoothly flows. If possible, read the
cover letter out loud and logically analyze how it sounds. Does it make you sound intelligent and
professional, or does it ramble on with unnecessary information? If possible, have others proofread
your cover letter and provide feedback.
Be Professional, yet Personal
Cover letters must follow the standard business format, which includes proper salutation, opening,
body and closing. However, the cover letter is one of the best ways to sell yourself through
highlighting not only your qualifications, but your unique, pleasant personality. Keep in mind that
HR professionals will only spend a few seconds skimming through your personality, so it's better to
be honest and engaging, then stiffly formal. That is, reveal how passionate and upbeat you are, while
maintaining a professional tone.

Authenticity In Cover Music
Music is, in many ways, a personal and emotional reflection of not only the writer's own
experiences, but also that of the listener. This also occurs for the artists of cover songs. A cover song
is a performance of a previously recorded song, in a new style than the other original by a different,
or even the same artist. An artist finds inspiration in the personal and individual concepts of music,
and chooses to create, through music's universal dimensions, their own interpretation for new
listeners to find their own inspiration. A problem that arises when covering music is the idea of
copyright issues, and the idea of authenticity. Nicholas Cook discusses authenticity in a variety of
different ways throughout his book, Music: A Very Short Introduction, in order to describe how an
artist can truly be a lasting and original force. An in depth musical analysis of the song "Hallelujah,"
originally recorded by Leonard Cohen, but covered by various other artists, can help show the
relationship between authenticity in cover music, and why people relate differently to different
covers. When someone thinks of the song, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Jeff Buckley's cover of "Hallelujah", offers a soft, raw approach to Cohen's piece. The tempo is
significantly slowed down, and the piece is accompanied by a single guitar that has multiple
instrumental solos. Throughout the piece, Buckley sings in all dynamics, with emotion, and along
the entire musical scale. This makes for a much more dynamic piece, one that instills much more
emotion into the listener. Overall, the guitar has a steady, almost dreamlike quality to it, while
Buckley's voice is raw and vulnerable. This dichotomy creates a dynamic that evolves over the
piece, as he begins a much stronger tonal quality towards the

Roswell And Ufos
This essay will be about how the perspective of Roswell/UFO's have changed over time. How after
this incident, UFO's have been seen all over the world. In America, over 80% of it's population now
believe that UFO's exist (Wilson). Now for what reason would so many people start to believe that
UFO's exist. Will aliens were believed way before this era, because people have said there's no way
we're the only people in the billions of galaxies. There was no evidence or proof of aliens being
encountered with, but after Roswell's incident, it led to innumerable amounts of people believing
that aliens do exist.
First, Roswell's incident was claimed to be the first encounter with aliens. The first proof that aliens

It could lead to different shocking outcomes that only the government could imagine. But of course
why, will first if someone is very religious, they can say there is now way one planet in billions of
galaxies only have life, but the government keeps it secret for a very alarming reason. The
government does not want us to be scared or alarmed (THE UFO COVER–UP). It's a very
protective reason for the world to not go into panic and havoc (The UFO COVER–UP).Because of
the reasonings, this shows that aliens exist. For example. it's like hiding something that you know
you've done wrong but can't hide. Giving new explanations and cover up proving it doesn't exist
when all these occurrences have already taken place. There's no way of hiding that the government
is just blinding the public from UFO's, making us worry about our own lives, and our own self
belief. (The UFO COVER–UP).
In conclusion, Roswell's incident has been proven that a UFO has crashed near this area. From why
the military had covered up this situation so quickly, with all the new sightings, evidence proving
aliens have been encountered with at Roswell. Also with the government secrecy, Area 51 being so
secretive, military never giving out word about aliens from all the occurrences that have taken.
These all gives reason for people to believe that aliens do exist. Proving that this incident might

Album Cover Designer
About:
The world of music was changed in the late 1800s with Thomas Edison's invention of the
gramophone. Since then the technology used to play and record music has evolved, starting first on
cylinders, then to records, cassette tapes, compact discs and now digital files. The first record album
covers were first designed in the 1930's. While the size and format of 'album covers' continues to
change, the visual design that goes with recorded music remains important.

Interview Skills Analysis
Interview Skills, Resumes, and Cover Letters
We discussed resume and cover letter tips and the importance of proofreading and modifying
resumes and cover letters before submitting them to an employer. We also discussed how to prepare
for an interview. Interviewees need to think of answers to commonly asked questions, work on
maintaining confidence and clarity when speaking, and prepare questions for the interviewer. I
learned that my resume is my first opportunity to introduce myself to a potential employer. Before
an employer ever meets me in person for an interview, the employer or a human resource personnel
person dissects everything that I state on my resume to form an opinion about who I am or what I
can offer. Therefore, it is critical that I list my most qualifying and unique ... Show more content on

Younger versus Older Workers
In class, we discussed the rift that exists between younger and older workers in the workforce.
Employers are hiring more young workers that possess fresh ideas and technical skills that older
workers lack. Older workers often are content and are reluctant to learn new practices or skills.
I learned that employers also employ younger workers because employers can pay younger workers
less than older workers. Although there is rift between two generations of workers in the workforce
both generations of workers have knowledge beneficial to the other generation. Young workers are
needed to share their technical knowledge while older workers are needed to share their tried and
true knowledge of the industry.

Hip Hop Culture's Cover Art Analysis
With means to express oneself, helps one overcome the difficulties of life. This approach represents
the entire nature of the hip hop culture, especially when dealing with social justice issues. Today, hip
hop culture's association revolves around raps (lyrics) and the rappers which reflect how consumers
receive messages about social justice issues. Unlike breaking and graffiti, the music/lyrics penetrate
society more. However, for this analysis, the focus will rely on a visual element with a connection to
hip hop music. Even though a music video would make sense as a visual means of expression, this
analysis has more interest in a hip hop album's cover art. Also, this focus will lead to the question of

At nighttime, two black teens run towards the camera away from several white police officers. In
this scene, the teens stand out the most due to their light, almost blinding, clothing. Upon the first
viewing, the cops appear invisible as if lurking in the shadows. While the person on the right has
their face towards the camera, the other person turns their head to the cops. With the right–sided
person unobscured face, examining their expression becomes simple. It's as if this horrified teen is
screaming as loud as possible. On the other hand, the black teen on the left has their attention on the
cops, blocking their expression but it appears shocked. As stated before, the police officers' outfits
cause them to blend into the night while illuminating the light part of them; their white faces and
arms. However, the cops seem calm, almost confused as they walk behind the teens. Due to their
leisurely pace, it confuses the photo's tone presented by the screaming teen. It doesn't seem as
violent as another picture with black teens and white cops would. What is happening in this image;
are the police at fault or are the teens? Even with historical context, the motives of the individuals in

To Cover Or Not To Cover
To cover, or not to cover? That is the question. When magazine, internet or news articles show a
woman wearing a head covering, one automatically assumes that the woman is a Muslim; yet is
covering one's head the rule for these women? What does the Qur'an say? Why do women do this?
What is the difference between the various head coverings? There are hijabs, khimars, chadors,
niqabs, and burqas. What are these? So many questions... The answers to these questions seem to
differ depending upon whom you ask. According to Islamic.org, "It is the general consensus among
the Muslims that a Muslim woman is required to cover her head leaving only her face showing as
part of an overall dress code and behaviour which Islam prescribes. It is therefore ... Show more

"In 1 Corinthians 11, God gives the command that a woman is to cover her head when praying or
prophesying and that a man is to have his head uncovered," (Horst). According to the Jewish Virtual
Library website, "It was customary for most women in the ancient Near East, Mesopotamia, and the
Greco–Roman world to cover their hair when they went outside the home. In biblical times, women
covered their heads with veils or scarves. The unveiling of a woman's hair was considered a
humiliation and punishment (Isa. 3:17; cf. Num. 5:18 on the loosening of the hair of a woman
suspected of adultery; III Macc. 4:6; and Sus. 32)," (www.jewishvirtuallibrary.org). "The practice of
head covering appears in many different cultures. Mantillas are still worn by many Spanish and
Latina women during religious ceremonies, and many Christian women in India still cover their
heads with a veil, scarf, shawl or the end of a sari during religious services,"
(http://www.csames.illinois.edu/documents/outreach/Cross–Culture_Head_Coverings.pdf). Based
on this information, to immediately draw attention to Muslim women and question their practice of
covering their heads seems prejudicial – women from many other cultures and religions cover their

The Grass Is Always Greener In Carl Sandburg's Grass
The Grass Is Always Greener (Over the Cemetery): the Use of Proper Nouns, the Imperative Tense,
and Tension Between the First and Third Person in Carl Sandburg's Grass When a battle is over, the
field on which it was fought must look like a wound on the face of the earth: the blood–soaked
ground strewn with bodies, lying in mud churned by thousands of marching feet. Eventually, grass
grows over the battlefield, hiding the evidence of the horrors that took place there under a blanket of
green. In years to come, the area appears so unremarkable that passersby have no indication of what
took place there. However, without remembrance, what is to stop history from continually repeating
itself? Carl Sandburg, in his poem Grass, uses the imperative tense, proper nouns, and tension
between the first person and the third person points of view to show that humanity repeats its
mistakes because nature always conceals them. Sandburg uses proper nouns throughout the poem to
emphasize the reality of wars fought and lives lost. By calling battles by their proper names, in
ominous, measured sentences, he is peeling back, so to speak, the layer of grass concealing them.
This technique makes it impossible to gloss over the atrocities that were committed. When he says,
"Pile the bodies high at Austerlitz and Waterloo" (Line 1), "And pile them high at Ypres and Verdun"
(5), he is naming specific places, where individuals died at a certain time. Readers are unable to

An Analysis Of Nevermind's Cover Art
"Nevermind's cover art was one such political statement, a clear expression of disgust towards
capitalism." (Bickerdike, 2014)
Never mind the English idiom "don't judge a book by its cover". As a consumerist society, we tend
to instinctively make assumptions based on initial appearance. Since the invention on the LP back in
1948, the recording industry adapted the concept of the cover art as to visually represent the artists
and music. Music albums across the world are sold inside universal sleeves branded with a
particular image allowing the work to be instantly recognisable amongst all others. The cover art of
Nirvana's 1991 release Nevermind has prevailed to be one of the most recognizable album covers of

a sense of seriousness while communicating "WE ARE NIRVANA. THIS IS OUR ALBUM. THIS

warped. The warped font can connote with feeling of being submerged underwater, further linking
with cover art's intended ideology. Observing the two words together could interpret a deeper

 Whenever possible, address the letter to a specific person by name and title. Even if

name of the hiring authority. Unfortunately, you may not always be able to identify the name of a

 Keep sentences short and to the point.
 Keep the entire letter brief – no more than one page with three to five paragraphs.

The Problem Of Cover Songs
There is a belief in today's society that grew from the past that a cover song is merely a copy or rip
off of the original. This dilemma is discussed in an article by a man named Don Cusic, who has
taught courses in the music business industry since the year of 1982 and is known as a pioneer in
music business education. Cusic's other accomplishments and credibility come from being an
historian on country music, a scholar and writer known worldwide, author of over 209 books and
500 articles, and having appeared on CMT programs, TNN shows, and two BBC series (Belmont
University). The reason that cover songs are an important discussion in today's society is because
there is an increase presently in cover song creation and also a steady increase of criticism on cover
songs. This is due to the creation of increasingly popular video uploading sites on the internet like
"YouTube," where any person can go in, view a cover song and assert that it 's bad because it isn't
the original song. The article "In Defense of Cover Songs" is a strong argumentative article with
weak points due to providing strong historical information on a cover song's influence on the
creation of major known songs and artists and that it conveys a weak unprofessional bias opinion
from the author Cusic, who argues that cover songs are a person's own interpretation of a song and
that critics and fans should not belittle a cover song compared to an original song. First, in the article

Cover Songs Comparison
In the music industry, it is not uncommon for original songs to be rerecorded and altered by other
artists resulting in what is known as a cover song. One example of this situations occurrence can be
seen in Vance Joy's indie folk–pop song, "Riptide", that was famously covered by pop and country
crossover artist, Taylor Swift. Overall, there are many factors that go into the relationship between
an original and cover song and the artists of each song. Such as both artist's connection to the song
and the relationship between the artists themselves. There are also differences between the original
and cover songs themselves including song structure, instrumentation, vocals, lyrics, and lyrical
meaning. Vance Joy and Taylor Swift met for the first time backstage in New York at the Late Night
Show with David Letterman (Whitney). By the time for their first meeting, Swift had already
covered Joy's hit single, "Riptide", on a British radio station and announced her invitation for Joy to
join her as the opening act on her international 1989 tour (Adams). Though Joy is an indie folk–pop
singer and Swift a country, pop singer, the two managed to join their audiences together and create
continued mass popularity for "Riptide" as well as promote listeners of both genres to hear the two
perform at the 1989 tour. As Joy was used to performing in smaller venues, the packed auditoriums

Summary Of Paula Dan's Short Story 'Faces'
Fibber Flowers From the beginning of their days, children are endlessly taught that true beauty lies
within, even if the exterior looks rather dull or repulsive. The skeleton of prejudice is based on not
wanting something or someone because of one's precomposed perception, despite the fact that the
receiver of the prejudice's true identity and character are unknown. Paradoxically, the thin coat of
glitter and gold can easily be used to conceal the coal and soot underneath. In her short story
"Faces", Paula Dan recounts a tale of a Janus–faced man. The story, based on a similar incident that
took place in her mid–teens, describes how a seemingly pleasant and caring man only uses his
supposed qualities to blind others of his abusive tendencies. Through the characterization of Mr.
Stavros' (aforementioned man) instability, the symbolism of plants and metaphors, Dan vividly
illustrates the concealment of the indisputable disorder and obscenities within the Stavros
household, no matter how many lies the flowers feed the eyes of outsiders. When Mr. Stavros is first
introduced, he is described as ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The flowers growing around and decorating Mr. Stavros' house are particularly meaningful in the
understanding of Mr. Stavros' irrefutable urge to hide and avert eyes. Preceding his quick command
to stop looking at him, Mr Stavros informs the narrator that his wife, who remained unnamed, was
bothered by the fact that the overgrown flowers engulfed the house. Given that the house symbolizes
the family's dynamics and relationship, hiding it behind these beautiful and pretentious flowers
broadens the notion that the family bears darker secrets behind the petty flora. Mr. Stavros' methods
of covering his true nature eventually failed him, and the narrator discovers that she does not want to

Cover Letter Benefits
A cover letter is necessary and very helpful for employers when filtering through multiple resumes.
To an employer a cover letter is a bit of a preview as to what the resume has to offer, while to a
prospective employee, a cover letter is a foot in the door. According to the Office of Career Services
at Harvard University, "A good way to create a response–producing cover letter is to highlight your
skills or experiences that are most applicable to the job or industry and to tailor the letter to the
specific organization you are applying to" (16). It is one's first impression in black and white and
states a clear desire and capability for the desired position. Think of the cover letter as one's voice
for their personality and drive that sets them apart from others, where as the resume is the facts and
details of one's experience and capabilities.
What most if not all sources for tips on writing an effective cover letter for a position within the
health care state, is the importance of focusing on the needs of the employer and highlighting your
capabilities, which match this need. This tip has been shared by scholars at Harvard University as
well as from the professionals at Monster Worldwide, a source responsible for endless professional

Obviously highlighting one's skills and capabilities is important, but more important to keep it short
and to the point so highlighting experience that pertains to the specific position desired. A tip that
was also noted throughout all sources of information was to avoid using personal pronouns, such as
"I". Shining a modest light on the skills and experience that will make one stand out the most
through a neutral yet assertive tone is a great goal for any resume within a health care position.

Snow Covers
Kotlyak et al. (1997) describe the snow cover regime all over the world based on regular ground
observation data from the 1960s to the 1980s. Spatial distribution of the number of snow covered
days (N_sn, similar as SCD in this study) is found to be related with altitude, exposition of macro–
slope relative to trajectories of major moisture flow, and latitude. The latitudinal gradient for N_sn is
5 to 9.5 days / degree with a mean of 8 days / degree for the Northern Hemisphere, comparable with
the value (~ 9 days / degree for areas below 3000 m) reported for CA in this study. Leeward slopes
tend to have lower N_sn compared with windward slopes, with one example showing that the mean

(2014) based on AVHRR imageries. Summary statistics for snow cover extent and timing
characteristics, including SCD, SCD_ES and SCD_LS (same as SCD, SCOD and SCMD in this
study) were calculated at each 100 m elevation zone within the CARs, and within different
catchment groups. Trends of the summary statistics were analyzed using Mann–Kendal test. The
results show that SCMD shifted earlier significantly in upstream catchments of Amu Dar'ya and Syr
Dar'ya, as well as in the elevation range between 2500 and 3200 m, which is in agreement with our
previous work and the results of this study in general. It is reported that SCOD moved earlier
significantly all over CARs, and no significant trend of SCD change can be detected in any
catchment group or elevation zone, which differs from our findings. In this study, within the
boundary of CARs, significantly decreased SCD was observed in mountainous areas of Tien Shan
and Pamir, while only patches in WP and WT experienced SCOD shifted earlier. The disagreement
might come from the different temporal overage of the two studies, or more probably the different
calculation unit used when conducting trend test. As shown in our results, the trend of change for
snow cover statistics exhibits large spatial variability. Calculating the trends of change at catchment
groups and 100 m elevation zones within the political boundaries might

Cover To Cover Movie Vs Book
Hello and welcome to "Cover to Cover", the segment where I compare and review a book and its
movie counterpart. Today, we'll be looking at "The power of one", by Bryce Courtenay.
This is an American drama film, set in South Africa in times of apartheid in World War 2. It's the
story of a 6 year old boy named "Peter Philip Kennith Keith", or better known as "Peekay", who
struggles against the difficulties of racism, Apartheid and displays how even the power of only one,
can change a nation.
The plot within the film is quite easy to follow, staying relatively faithful to the book at the
beginning, but loses track towards the end. However, there are times where major differences and
variations occur between the two, which doesn't contribute to the film being as believable as the
novel. An example of this is what occurs during Peekay's travel to his grandpa, via the train. The
sequence of events during this travel are left out in the film, which actually left me quite confused as
to where in the film this was supposed ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Close up scenes seemed to be particularly well done, with use of cutting between two subjects
(particularly in the scenes where Peekay attends boxing training). This shows the different emotions
and expressions of various characters. However, there are times where constant cutting can become
irritating and rather unnecessary. Special effects and props didn't feel as if they were believable
enough to take seriously. Use of lighting in various scenes can evoke different feelings and display
environments in a different perspective. A good example of this is where, during the piano and
singing performance by the prisoners, Piet walks along the back of a building, making his way
towards the performance, when a guard encounters him, beats him up for not telling what the
prisoners are singing, and then dies. This scene darkens all surroundings and shines exclusively on
the murder at

Critique Of The Defense Of Cover Songs
Critique for "In Defense of Cover Songs" There is a belief in today's society snowballing from the
past that a cover song is merely a copy or rip off of the original. This dilemma is discussed in an
article Don Cusic, who has taught courses in the music business industry since 1982 and is known as
a pioneer of music business education. Cusic's other accomplishments and credibility come from
being a historian of country music, a scholar and writer known worldwide, and an author of over
209 books and 500 articles (Belmont University). The reason that cover songs are an important
discussion in today's society is because there is an increase in cover song creation and also a steady
increase of criticism of cover songs. This is due to the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Cusic begins his paper with the effect of co–writing asserting that the artist loses much more money
when they could have earned more if they had created a song themselves. He then goes on to
explain how fans and critics feel the need for a song to be legitimate and that if a singer doesn't
create his or her own song they are seen as an invalid artist. However, Cusic asserts that fans and
critics do not care for the artist's reason for creating the song, and that the audience's connection to
the song is the reason why it is even purchased or seen as real music. Cusic affirms that singers who
create cover songs are not any less legitimate compared to artists who create original music and that
singers have their own way of describing what a song means to them. Next, he brings up the fact
that a new audience can benefit a song, that history plays a major role in the belief of cover songs
and that the boundary between songwriters and singers are meant to be respected. He explains that if
an original song is covered, it receives the benefit of a new audience learning about the history of
the original song. This strengthens his assertion that, "Many times a 'cover' is a history lesson for a
new, young audience who never heard the original" (174). Cusic further explains that cover songs
were created throughout time by providing many well–known songs and artists from the past like

Strengths Of Steganography
Abstract– Steganography is a technique of hiding the secret information. Steganography hides the
existence of the secret data and make the communication undetectable. Secret data can be
communicated in an appropriate multimedia carrier such as image, audio or video. Image
steganography is extensively used technique. In this technique secret data is embedded within the
image. Steganography techniques can be categorized into two groups – adaptive and non–adaptive.
Each of these have its strengths and weaknesses. Adaptive steganography embeds the secret
information in the image by adapting some of the local features of the image. Non–adaptive
steganography embeds secret data equally in each and every pixel of the image. Several techniques

Still, message transmissions over the Internet need to face a few issues, for example, copyright
control, information security, and so on. Consequently we need secure secret specialized strategies
for transmitting message over the Internet. Encryption is a surely understood strategy for security

person with the right key can effectively decode it. In any case, encryption makes the message
unreadable, and making message sufficiently suspicious to pull eavesdroppers' consideration.
Another approach to tackle this issue is to conceal the mystery data behind a cover with the goal that
it draws no extraordinary consideration. This strategy of data security is called steganography

Resume : A Personal Marketing Tool
Resumes are a personal marketing tool with the purpose to showcase skills, accomplishments, and,
ultimately, land an interview. The resume will highlight the applicant's values through talents,
abilities, and achievements. A remarkable resume alone will not get the dream job, but suitable
selections in determining what information is used in a resume can make an applicant far more
noticeable to potential employers. There is not one defined way to generate a fabulous cover letter or
resume, but the best resumes are concise, result–oriented, and clearly presented. Step one is to
brainstorm. Take a moment to list your experience and skills that are relevant to the position you are
applying for. Take the time to study the job posting and think about how you want to illustrate that
you are the ideal candidate the employer is searching for. Most job postings have wish list of
preferred skills. Pay special attention to this list and try to think of how your experience
compliments and reflects those skills.
Keep in mind that this is the way you are introducing yourself to a potential employer and you want
them to deliberate that you are the perfect person for the job. Consider leadership roles,
demonstrated resourcefulness, skills, and keep the employer and job description in mind. Keep
whatever you list on your resume applicable and personalized to the position. Step two is to capture
it in writing. There are hundreds of resume examples on–line that can be

INTRO: The phrase "do not judge a book by its cover" is a widely recognized idea the majority of
people keep in their peripheral mind when introduced with a new idea. The initial perceptions we
make solely on someone's outward appearances are out of our control, as it is a natural connection
our brain makes between presentation and character. Though we cannot control what we
instinctually comprehend, keeping an open mind is important, especially when meeting someone
new.

Frankenstein, suffered a similar, uncaring fate. When The Creature first rises from dormancy, he is
promptly turned away by a fearful Frankenstein who locks himself in his room. (pg. 35–36)
He is shamed into living in solitude, fearful that he will be ostracized if he attempts to set foot on the
surface. Over the years of tormenting those who reside in the Opera house, he earns the reputation
of "opera ghost" due to his unseen and spectral nature. It is shown in numerous occasions that even
referring to him as "opera ghost" is somewhat taboo. (p.14)
As a result of their unfortunate upbringing, Erik and the Creature grow to resent humanity for its
poor treatment of them. In the Creatures case, a couple specific instances stand out which fuel his
desire for revenge. When he reveals himself to the De Lacey family, he is attacked and forced to flee
for his own safety as well as theirs. He soon returns, only to find the cottage empty. He proceeds to
burn it down out of hurt and rage. This is a good example of his explosive nature, and how he is
compelled to act on his emotions rather than use logic.

and death." – The Creature, Frankenstein pg.

improve my cover letter I knew I had a lot of work to do. The first change I started to work on was
my skills mentioned in my second paragraph. I had many of my skills listed but none of them

more visually appealing. My cover letter and resume has come a long way in the past week and a
half and I have learned so much in each step of the way in this process to making them both great.

Historical Precedents For The Rise Of Rock ' N ' Roll
Covers versions are credited to be "one of the most important precedents for the rise of rock 'n' roll."
This "commercial and musical phenomenon" is the use of a previously recorded song that is either
remade or reinterpreted by another group or artist. There is an argument that cover versions are
employed by bands and artists in order to "cash in" on the success that the original version provided
the original artist. However, as in all debates, there is a side that argues that cover versions
reinterpret or reimage the original song and change the experience and the meaning of the song
based on how the artist or group reinterprets or reimages it. In the following singles, "California
Dreamin'," "I Will Always Love You," and "She's Like the Wind" there are examples of the latter
argument of artists reinterpreting or reimaging the original singles in their covers. Starting in
California, where dreamin' is a way to contemplate the meaning of one's life. At least that is the
Mamas and Papas' original version of "California Dreamin.'" The Mamas and Papas were a group
situated in Los Angles and the Southern California pop scene and what made them emerge out
among other pop or folk groups was the mixture of male and female voices. "California Dreamin,'"
recorded by The Mamas and Papas in 1965, is credited to be "an anthem of those heady times" of
the 1960s. Although the single never reached the number one spot on the charts, the single remained

Comparing Original Song To Johnny Cash's In My Life
In our society, originality is a valuable quality. When we think of movie remakes or music covers
that has existed, we tend to gravitate towards the original work because there is a certain feeling of
genuine intentionality and genius. But how far can our preconceptions of originality negate the new
elements that a cover can potentially bring to the table? After all, there are numerous covers that I
have personally encountered that added more to the original song to a point where the cover itself
ends up delivering a very different experience and perspective to me. By comparing "In My Life" by
the Beatles to Johnny Cash's rendition of "In My Life", we can see that through the differences in
instrumentation, texture, and melody we end up receiving a subtly different song in terms of
meaning and experience. And because such a difference can exist, there should be more value and
appreciation towards music covers for breathing new life into ... Show more content on

As for the melody of the song, most of the verses ends up falling within the same pitch but ends up
rising in pitch near the last few words through a combination of melodic steps in the beginning and
leaps by the end. The melodic shape of the verse helps to emphasize a nostalgic mood by
representing how the singer ends up becoming happier as he remembers the past that he loves.
During the middle–8, the lines begin higher but end up lowering near the end. The melodic shape of
the middle–8 helps to bring the mood back from being in love (higher pitches) to being realistic
(lower pitches). The guitar riff also moves upward in steps and leaps. The instrumental guitar riff
also has a very similar rhythmic pattern as the middle–8. The overall meter, melody, and rhythm
help to convey a sense of authenticity in its emotions towards life and his lover through the presence

Authenticity And Cover Song Analysis

  • 1. Authenticity And Cover Song Analysis The theory of authorship often challenge the ideals of authenticity, especially within the context of cover songs. This is due to the fact that the composer of the song is a separate entity from the performer. Society has often valued composer–performers as it has been encoded in culture within the past century. "the attempt to understand the past in terms of the past is – paradoxically – an absolutely contemporary phenomenon." Authenticity is a historically specific abstraction and therefore, will continuously be subjected to reconsiderations as our societal construction of authenticity changes through time. A cover version is seemingly an art form that contains a thin line that dictates the authentic an artist presents their image within ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Sincerity therefore emerges as an intrinsic factor within the concepts of both authorship and authenticity. "Sincerity and autobiography are techniques one can employ in the service of personal authenticity, just as using traditional instruments and singing old songs are techniques one can use in the service of cultural authenticity." The guitar solo proposes an interesting interaction with the rock genre and a possible reference to the version of Word Up performed by the rock band, Gun. While this is not the same solo included in Gun's version, it is similar in construction and tone thus demonstrating and evolution of the piece as it is passes through each artist's rendition. As a result of this, Little Mix have provided an authentic essence of a previous rendition within the style of rock while maintaining the songs original pop based anthem sound. Through this analysis, it is apparent that compositions, even within the composer's mind are rarely concrete and alterations through time are inevitable. The notion of authenticity can consequently be challenged as society endeavours to find that which is ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Critical Analysis: Covers Critical Analysis: Covers The song set this critical analysis chose is 'Smells Like Teen Spirit' (Nirvana), 'Bootylicious' (Destiny's Child), and 'Smells Like Bootylicious' (2Many DJs). This paper's purpose is to argue that the type of cover version is transformative. For starters, this paper is going to analyse two of the original songs respectively and then turn to do a more detailed comparison among them and their mash–up cover. 'Smells Like Teen Spirit' (Nirvana) – as according to the analytical categories, several parts can be discussed here. As for sound sources, guitar is definitely the core of the song, and its chords were double tracked so that the song presents a strong sense of power and a rush of adrenaline. Bassline, drum and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This mash–up cover extracts all the highlight from both of the two original songs. Such as, it starts with the familiar and main guitar riff from 'smells like teen spirit' and then followed the famous opening of 3 women's whispering 'do you think you can handle this'; and the perfect mixing of the first exciting 8–bar pre–chorus (when the drum and bass entered) of 'smell' and the sexy cheers of 3 women from 'bootylicious'; also, the repetition of 'hello' coupled with 3 women's vocals build up a perfect new bridge before the main ... • 5. Writing Your Cover Letter Writing Your Cover Letter: What Important Points Are You Missing? According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS), every resume that you submit to a potential employer needs a cover letter. The purpose of the cover letter is to arouse interest and highlight core competencies. Below explains Separate your Resume and Cover Letter One of the most common mistakes that job seekers make is to simply summarize their resume in their cover letter. However, the primary purpose of the cover letter is to express your interest and particular interest in the specific position. However, a well–written cover letter doesn't mean that content is engaging and even interesting. Proofread for content quality to ensure that your cover letter smoothly flows. If possible, read the cover letter out loud and logically analyze how it sounds. Does it make you sound intelligent and professional, or does it ramble on with unnecessary information? If possible, have others proofread your cover letter and provide feedback. Be Professional, yet Personal Cover letters must follow the standard business format, which includes proper salutation, opening, body and closing. However, the cover letter is one of the best ways to sell yourself through highlighting not only your qualifications, but your unique, pleasant personality. Keep in mind that HR professionals will only spend a few seconds skimming through your personality, so it's better to be honest and engaging, then stiffly formal. That is, reveal how passionate and upbeat you are, while maintaining a professional tone. Do your ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 7. Authenticity In Cover Music Music is, in many ways, a personal and emotional reflection of not only the writer's own experiences, but also that of the listener. This also occurs for the artists of cover songs. A cover song is a performance of a previously recorded song, in a new style than the other original by a different, or even the same artist. An artist finds inspiration in the personal and individual concepts of music, and chooses to create, through music's universal dimensions, their own interpretation for new listeners to find their own inspiration. A problem that arises when covering music is the idea of copyright issues, and the idea of authenticity. Nicholas Cook discusses authenticity in a variety of different ways throughout his book, Music: A Very Short Introduction, in order to describe how an artist can truly be a lasting and original force. An in depth musical analysis of the song "Hallelujah," originally recorded by Leonard Cohen, but covered by various other artists, can help show the relationship between authenticity in cover music, and why people relate differently to different covers. When someone thinks of the song, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Jeff Buckley's cover of "Hallelujah", offers a soft, raw approach to Cohen's piece. The tempo is significantly slowed down, and the piece is accompanied by a single guitar that has multiple instrumental solos. Throughout the piece, Buckley sings in all dynamics, with emotion, and along the entire musical scale. This makes for a much more dynamic piece, one that instills much more emotion into the listener. Overall, the guitar has a steady, almost dreamlike quality to it, while Buckley's voice is raw and vulnerable. This dichotomy creates a dynamic that evolves over the piece, as he begins a much stronger tonal quality towards the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

There was no evidence or proof of aliens being encountered with, but after Roswell's incident, it led to innumerable amounts of people believing that aliens do exist. It could lead to different shocking outcomes that only the government could imagine. But of course why, will first if someone is very religious, they can say there is now way one planet in billions of galaxies only have life, but the government keeps it secret for a very alarming reason. The government does not want us to be scared or alarmed (THE UFO COVER–UP). It's a very protective reason for the world to not go into panic and havoc (The UFO COVER–UP).Because of the reasonings, this shows that aliens exist. For example. it's like hiding something that you know you've done wrong but can't hide. There's no way of hiding that the government is just blinding the public from UFO's, making us worry about our own lives, and our own self belief. (The UFO COVER–UP). In conclusion, Roswell's incident has been proven that a UFO has crashed near this area. We also discussed how to prepare for an interview. Interviewees need to think of answers to commonly asked questions, work on maintaining confidence and clarity when speaking, and prepare questions for the interviewer. I learned that my resume is my first opportunity to introduce myself to a potential employer. • 16. Hip Hop Culture's Cover Art Analysis With means to express oneself, helps one overcome the difficulties of life. This approach represents the entire nature of the hip hop culture, especially when dealing with social justice issues. Today, hip hop culture's association revolves around raps (lyrics) and the rappers which reflect how consumers receive messages about social justice issues. Unlike breaking and graffiti, the music/lyrics penetrate society more. However, for this analysis, the focus will rely on a visual element with a connection to hip hop music. Even though a music video would make sense as a visual means of expression, this analysis has more interest in a hip hop album's cover art. At nighttime, two black teens run towards the camera away from several white police officers. In this scene, the teens stand out the most due to their light, almost blinding, clothing. Upon the first viewing, the cops appear invisible as if lurking in the shadows. While the person on the right has their face towards the camera, the other person turns their head to the cops. With the right–sided person unobscured face, examining their expression becomes simple. It's as if this horrified teen is screaming as loud as possible. On the other hand, the black teen on the left has their attention on the cops, blocking their expression but it appears shocked. As stated before, the police officers' outfits cause them to blend into the night while illuminating the light part of them; their white faces and arms. However, the cops seem calm, almost confused as they walk behind the teens. Due to their leisurely pace, it confuses the photo's tone presented by the screaming teen. From my experiences, I truly believe that In a nutshell an individual's resume is a short snapshot of who they are and why he or she is the best choice for the job. In today's job market, no matter what the job or industry who are trying to enter, it is key that your resume catches a potential opportunity's/employer's eye and tells the story they want to hear. I not saying fabricate your abilities, but present the in a clear direct manner that makes the potential employer say, "Wow, I (we) need to meet this person." However, be sure that you can back your resume. Do not make your snapshot one of fiction. The other point I want to make is that if your resume ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Grass Is Always Greener In Carl Sandburg's Grass The Grass Is Always Greener (Over the Cemetery): the Use of Proper Nouns, the Imperative Tense, and Tension Between the First and Third Person in Carl Sandburg's Grass When a battle is over, the field on which it was fought must look like a wound on the face of the earth: the blood–soaked ground strewn with bodies, lying in mud churned by thousands of marching feet. Eventually, grass grows over the battlefield, hiding the evidence of the horrors that took place there under a blanket of green. In years to come, the area appears so unremarkable that passersby have no indication of what took place there. However, without remembrance, what is to stop history from continually repeating itself? Carl Sandburg, in his poem Grass, uses the imperative tense, proper nouns, and tension between the first person and the third person points of view to show that humanity repeats its mistakes because nature always conceals them. Sandburg uses proper nouns throughout the poem to emphasize the reality of wars fought and lives lost. By calling battles by their proper names, in ominous, measured sentences, he is peeling back, so to speak, the layer of grass concealing them. This technique makes it impossible to gloss over the atrocities that were committed. When he says, "Pile the bodies high at Austerlitz and Waterloo" (Line 1), "And pile them high at Ypres and Verdun" (5), he is naming specific places, where individuals died at a certain time. Since the invention on the LP back in 1948, the recording industry adapted the concept of the cover art as to visually represent the artists and music. This dilemma is discussed in an article by a man named Don Cusic, who has taught courses in the music business industry since the year of 1982 and is known as a pioneer in music business education. Cusic's other accomplishments and credibility come from being an historian on country music, a scholar and writer known worldwide, author of over 209 books and 500 articles, and having appeared on CMT programs, TNN shows, and two BBC series (Belmont University). The reason that cover songs are an important discussion in today's society is because there is an increase presently in cover song creation and also a steady increase of criticism on cover songs. This is due to the creation of increasingly popular video uploading sites on the internet like "YouTube," where any person can go in, view a cover song and assert that it 's bad because it isn't the original song. The article "In Defense of Cover Songs" is a strong argumentative article with weak points due to providing strong historical information on a cover song's influence on the creation of major known songs and artists and that it conveys a weak unprofessional bias opinion from the author Cusic, who argues that cover songs are a person's own interpretation of a song and that critics and fans should not belittle a cover song compared to an original song. • 42. Cover Songs Comparison In the music industry, it is not uncommon for original songs to be rerecorded and altered by other artists resulting in what is known as a cover song. One example of this situations occurrence can be seen in Vance Joy's indie folk–pop song, "Riptide", that was famously covered by pop and country crossover artist, Taylor Swift. Overall, there are many factors that go into the relationship between an original and cover song and the artists of each song. Such as both artist's connection to the song and the relationship between the artists themselves. There are also differences between the original and cover songs themselves including song structure, instrumentation, vocals, lyrics, and lyrical meaning. Vance Joy and Taylor Swift met for the first time backstage in New York at the Late Night Show with David Letterman (Whitney). By the time for their first meeting, Swift had already covered Joy's hit single, "Riptide", on a British radio station and announced her invitation for Joy to join her as the opening act on her international 1989 tour (Adams). Though Joy is an indie folk–pop singer and Swift a country, pop singer, the two managed to join their audiences together and create continued mass popularity for "Riptide" as well as promote listeners of both genres to hear the two perform at the 1989 tour. Summary Of Paula Dan's Short Story 'Faces' Fibber Flowers From the beginning of their days, children are endlessly taught that true beauty lies within, even if the exterior looks rather dull or repulsive. The skeleton of prejudice is based on not wanting something or someone because of one's precomposed perception, despite the fact that the receiver of the prejudice's true identity and character are unknown. Paradoxically, the thin coat of glitter and gold can easily be used to conceal the coal and soot underneath. In her short story "Faces", Paula Dan recounts a tale of a Janus–faced man. The story, based on a similar incident that took place in her mid–teens, describes how a seemingly pleasant and caring man only uses his supposed qualities to blind others of his abusive tendencies. Through the characterization of Mr. Stavros' (aforementioned man) instability, the symbolism of plants and metaphors, Dan vividly illustrates the concealment of the indisputable disorder and obscenities within the Stavros household, no matter how many lies the flowers feed the eyes of outsiders. Trends of the summary statistics were analyzed using Mann–Kendal test. The results show that SCMD shifted earlier significantly in upstream catchments of Amu Dar'ya and Syr Dar'ya, as well as in the elevation range between 2500 and 3200 m, which is in agreement with our previous work and the results of this study in general. It is reported that SCOD moved earlier significantly all over CARs, and no significant trend of SCD change can be detected in any catchment group or elevation zone, which differs from our findings. In this study, within the boundary of CARs, significantly decreased SCD was observed in mountainous areas of Tien Shan and Pamir, while only patches in WP and WT experienced SCOD shifted earlier. The disagreement might come from the different temporal overage of the two studies, or more probably the different calculation unit used when conducting trend test. Today, we'll be looking at "The power of one", by Bryce Courtenay. This is an American drama film, set in South Africa in times of apartheid in World War 2. It's the story of a 6 year old boy named "Peter Philip Kennith Keith", or better known as "Peekay", who struggles against the difficulties of racism, Apartheid and displays how even the power of only one, can change a nation. The plot within the film is quite easy to follow, staying relatively faithful to the book at the beginning, but loses track towards the end. However, there are times where major differences and variations occur between the two, which doesn't contribute to the film being as believable as the novel. However, Cusic asserts that fans and critics do not care for the artist's reason for creating the song, and that the audience's connection to the song is the reason why it is even purchased or seen as real music. Cusic affirms that singers who create cover songs are not any less legitimate compared to artists who create original music and that singers have their own way of describing what a song means to them. Next, he brings up the fact that a new audience can benefit a song, that history plays a major role in the belief of cover songs and that the boundary between songwriters and singers are meant to be respected. He explains that if an original song is covered, it receives the benefit of a new audience learning about the history of the original song. This strengthens his assertion that, "Many times a 'cover' is a history lesson for a new, young audience who never heard the original" (174). Cover In Frankenstein Georgia Kavanaugh Gr 12 ENG LIT Hanson INTRO: The phrase "do not judge a book by its cover" is a widely recognized idea the majority of people keep in their peripheral mind when introduced with a new idea. The initial perceptions we make solely on someone's outward appearances are out of our control, as it is a natural connection our brain makes between presentation and character. Though we cannot control what we instinctually comprehend, keeping an open mind is important, especially when meeting someone new. In the works Frankenstein by Mary Shelley and The Phantom of the Opera by Gaston Leroux, the physical appearances of our main antagonists, Erik, and "The Creature", are difficult to overcome for the average soul. When The Creature first rises from dormancy, he is promptly turned away by a fearful Frankenstein who locks himself in his room. (pg. 35–36) He is shamed into living in solitude, fearful that he will be ostracized if he attempts to set foot on the surface. Over the years of tormenting those who reside in the Opera house, he earns the reputation of "opera ghost" due to his unseen and spectral nature. It is shown in numerous occasions that even referring to him as "opera ghost" is somewhat taboo. (p.14) As a result of their unfortunate upbringing, Erik and the Creature grow to resent humanity for its poor treatment of them. In the Creatures case, a couple specific instances stand out which fuel his desire for revenge. When he reveals himself to the De Lacey family, he is attacked and forced to flee for his own safety as well as theirs. He soon returns, only to find the cottage empty. He proceeds to burn it down out of hurt and rage. This is a good example of his explosive nature, and how he is compelled to act on his emotions rather than use logic. This "commercial and musical phenomenon" is the use of a previously recorded song that is either remade or reinterpreted by another group or artist. There is an argument that cover versions are employed by bands and artists in order to "cash in" on the success that the original version provided the original artist. However, as in all debates, there is a side that argues that cover versions reinterpret or reimage the original song and change the experience and the meaning of the song based on how the artist or group reinterprets or reimages it. In the following singles, "California Dreamin'," "I Will Always Love You," and "She's Like the Wind" there are examples of the latter argument of artists reinterpreting or reimaging the original singles in their covers. Starting in California, where dreamin' is a way to contemplate the meaning of one's life. At least that is the Mamas and Papas' original version of "California Dreamin.'" The Mamas and Papas were a group situated in Los Angles and the Southern California pop scene and what made them emerge out among other pop or folk groups was the mixture of male and female voices. "California Dreamin,'" recorded by The Mamas and Papas in 1965, is credited to be "an anthem of those heady times" of the 1960s. • 74. Comparing Original Song To Johnny Cash's In My Life In our society, originality is a valuable quality. When we think of movie remakes or music covers that has existed, we tend to gravitate towards the original work because there is a certain feeling of genuine intentionality and genius. But how far can our preconceptions of originality negate the new elements that a cover can potentially bring to the table? After all, there are numerous covers that I have personally encountered that added more to the original song to a point where the cover itself ends up delivering a very different experience and perspective to me. By comparing "In My Life" by the Beatles to Johnny Cash's rendition of "In My Life", we can see that through the differences in instrumentation, texture, and melody we end up receiving a subtly different song in terms of meaning and experience. And because such a difference can exist, there should be more value and appreciation towards music covers for breathing new life into ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... As for the melody of the song, most of the verses ends up falling within the same pitch but ends up rising in pitch near the last few words through a combination of melodic steps in the beginning and leaps by the end. The melodic shape of the verse helps to emphasize a nostalgic mood by representing how the singer ends up becoming happier as he remembers the past that he loves. During the middle–8, the lines begin higher but end up lowering near the end. The melodic shape of the middle–8 helps to bring the mood back from being in love (higher pitches) to being realistic (lower pitches). The guitar riff also moves upward in steps and leaps. The instrumental guitar riff also has a very similar rhythmic pattern as the middle–8. The overall meter, melody, and rhythm help to convey a sense of authenticity in its emotions towards life and his lover through the presence of a constant pitch that subtly rises with emotions of nostalgia or ... There is a lot of spam these days and you do not want to take the chance of missing an email from a potential employer due to having 101 new emails coming through a day. Your phone number should be the contact number where you are most available. Whether this would be a cell phone or a home phone, be sure that your greeting message is business appropriate and if you have a ringtone on your phone for people calling you, it would be wise to change to a normal ring during your job search. Not much to it, just list all that's required, and you should be good to go. Yet this assignment opened my eyes on how much detail can collude with results. When I started this assignment, I listed everything as I thought it should be. But trouble to arise was when I read the resume back to myself. One challenge I faced was to word things in an order, so they are short and concise, yet descriptive enough to understand. Every time I thought I was being descriptive, it tends out to be either too long or too confusing for anyone but myself to understand. there's a continuous process of editing, re–editing, and editing some more.
