Prometheus And Io Analysis
pp. 78–81 "Prometheus and IO" Prometheus, the creator of mankind who gave them fire from Mt. Olympus, sees a mysterious stranger approach
him. It was a creature that looked like a cow, but for some reason spoke as if it was a human girl. The beast, confused by the presence of the
Prometheus, asks if he was banished to Caucasus as punishment for his sins and where exactly it was. Prometheus recognized the girl and her story. It
was the daughter of Inachus, IO, who appeared before him. She was loved by the gods, but despised by Hera, Zeus' wife. They both discuss how they
were treated by Zeus; however, IO was once a princess in an affair with Zeus that caused Hera to force him to punish her. Zeus would descend to earth
and shroud the earth with clouds ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Hera couldn't find Zeus in heaven one day, so she went to earth and saw Zeus with a lovely white heifer, IO. Zeus transformed IO into a heifer to hide
his sin from his wife. Hera saw straight through Zeus' lie about only seeing IO at that moment and decided to put her under the watch of the
hundred–eyed creature Argus. Some of Argus' eyes could rest while the others watched IO. Zeus sentHermes, his son and the most intelligent god, to
smite Argus. Hermes disguised himself as a common country fellow and played a marvelous tune on a pipe made of reeds that pleased Argus
enough that he requested Hermes to come over and play for him. Hermes at first did nothing but play and tell stories to cause Argus to fall asleep
with all of his eyes shut. After Hermes told the story about the god Pan and his love for a nymph named Syrinx who was turned into a shepherd's
pipe, Argus fell asleep and everyone of his hundred eyes shut. Hermes took this moment and killed the monstrous beast. Hera was furious and took
the eyes of Argus and placed them on the back of a peacock's tail. Hera sent a gad–fly to follow IO wherever she went and the creature wouldn't let IO
eat, drink, or stop to rest. Prometheus

Prometheus: Rebellion Against Injustice
10. Prometheus has always been a symbol of rebellion against injustice because he helped the humans even though it angered Zeus. In one of the myths
of how humans were created, Prometheus's brother, Epimetheus, wasted all of the best gifts on animals and did not leave any for humans. When
Prometheus was put in charge of the creation of humans, he had to make them better than the animals that Epimetheus made with limited resources. To
complete this task, he made humans upright, like the gods, and gave them the most important gift, fire. Before Prometheus gave humans fire, it only
existed in heaven. Prometheus had to go to heaven, light a torch, and bring it back to the earth to bring fire to the Earth, but it was a gift of protection
that was better than any of the other gifts. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He wanted to do what was right even though it would not be tolerated by Zeus. This was a tremendous sacrifice and feat of selflessness. Furthermore,
when Prometheus arranged that humans would keep the best part of the meat and the gods would get the worst, it showed another time that he would
rebel against the injustice against humans. When Prometheus let Zeus pick between the two different parts of the ox that he cut up, he had to trick
Zeus into picking the white fat and bones. He knew that this would anger Zeus, but he also did not want the humans to get nthe worst part of the
animal. Overall, Prometheus was very unselfish and would do something that would be considered wrong to help others, which made him the symbol
of rebellion against

Pandora's Box: An Ancient Greek Myth
Pandora's Box is an ancient Greek myth. The author of this magnificent story is unknown because this story has been passed down from generation to
generation, and it has been changed along the way. The specific date this story was written in is also unknown. As the story has been passed down
from generation to generation, the story has been changed. For example, in the original story, the container that had the curses in it was a jar, but now
it is a box. The main characters of this story are Zeus, Pandora, and Epimetheus. Zeus, the king of the gods, rules over the whole earth. Pandora is
beautiful, but foolish. Epimetheus is Pandora's husband.
The reason why Zeus makes Pandora, is because he is angry at Prometheus for giving fire to the

Pandora's Box Research Paper
Pandora's Box has opened
Zeus , the king of Greek gods, gave the titan Epimetheus the gift of Pandora, the first women, and a box that was never meant to be opened. The gift
was really a trap for Epimetheus because of his brothers trickery of Zeus or in other words the gift of knowledge to man. Zeus told him to never open
the box, but Zeus also created Pandora with a great sense of curiosity. The curiosity later led her to open the box releasing a great amount of evil onto
mankind. At the very bottom of the box was something that wasn't evil. The good that came out of the box was hope. Mankind had never needed
hope, because before this they never had any need for hope.
To me, the senior research project is a lot like Pandora's Box. A box that once open may never be shut again. That held many an evil and even held
hope once the evil was out of the box. The senior research project is like that in many ways. It is a project that once started can also not be stopped and
will give me a lot of hard times along the road, but just as in Pandora's box there are good things that will come out of it such as a sense of completion
and a hope that it will get me ready for college. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The only thing I knew was that I was not stopping the journey I had started. That same statement is still rings true. I will not be stopping so close to
my goal of making it through this 2–year plan. That means I will have to fight my way through the senior research project to reach good that will be
at the end of the box. Just as Pandora's box could not be reshut, this journey can not or even will not be stopped halfway

Pandora Radio And Hulu Case Study
I have used Pandora Radio and Hulu and liked them both for the most part. They allow you to have entertainment anywhere you would like,
whether it's music or TV. As for Pandora Radio I liked it when it was free once you had to pay for it I switched. This is because when I'm in my
garage, I have music playing 24/7. It's very user friendly and welcoming so that just about anyone can use it. The impact that Pandora Radio has on
the society is very minimal in my opinion, but for as for businesses it gives them a way to have music for their employees or customers. The plus
with this is that it increases moral for employees so everyone will work harder and want to be there. While Pandora offers music, Hulu offers plethora

2. What are some shortcomings of downloading music?
One of the main shortcomings of downloading music is the legal aspect. In other words, the person that downloads music from the website that
does not require payment should be aware of the fact that it might me illegal. In contrast, iTunes is considered legal source for music download, as
it requires payment for each song or album. Therefore, there are numerous websites that are not legal. As well, downloading music may require
software, that may contain a virus or the file may already be contaminated. As a result, a person may have a virus on their computer that will open a
door to hackers to retrieve sensitive information. Besides, the quality of the music file may be low; the lack of space on the device for all the
downloaded files and not everyone can afford to download a large amount of music. As mentioned, there are various disadvantages that follow with

Comparison: The Struggle Between Zeus And Prometheus
As a result of a feud that had been taking place between Zeus and Prometheus, Zeus had the god Hephaistos create the first woman, Pandora. After
being adorned with beauty, allure, and finery by the goddesses and learning deception from Heremes, Pandora was sent off to Epimetheus to give him
a jar as a gift. After Empimetheus took her into his society,Pandora proceeded to open the jar which released evil and sickness upon humans. When she
closed the jar, the only thing that remained inside was hope. It seems as though Zeus was expecting and wanting this to happen and as a result, it helped
him in overtaking Prometheus and forcing him to endure thousands of years of torture. There are a few different messages in this story that I was able to

Daedalus constructs two set of wings with feathers and wax and instructs Icarus to not fly too high or too low. However, once they took flight
Icarus forgot (or ignored) his father's instructions and flew too close to the sun, therefore melting the wax on his wings and sending him to his
death in the sea below. I found a few different messages in this story, as I did in the story of Pandora. The first message I discovered within this
story is that mankind has seemingly limitless power, but man must be cautious of how this power is used. Daedalus was intelligent enough to
construct a pair of workable wings, however having the gift of flight was never naturally meant for man therefore leading to the a downfall (literally).
Just because we have the power do something does not mean we should do it. I also found the message of moderation or self–control in this story as
well. Clearly, Icarus became overcome with exhilaration by the feeling of flight thus, not only forgetting his father's instructions but also his sense of
self–control, which lead him to fly too close to the sun. Had he been able to moderate his feeling, he probably would not have met his death. One must
practice moderation and self–control in all aspects of life in order to avoid putting themselves in possible danger.

Analysis Of Radio Cultures: The Sound Medium In American Life
In Radio Cultures: The Sound Medium in American Life, author Michael C. Keith and a professional team of contributors examine the history and
profound cultural impact radio broadcasting had on the United States. Radio broadcasting as a media form grew in popularity after being introduced in
1920 and transitioned to regular broadcasting following World War I. By the mid 1920s radio broadcasting was the primary way most Americans
received news and information, it was also the number one form of leisure. Keith shares his insight on how radio broadcasting brought women into the
public sphere. In the 1920s, women were still being raised to become housewives and those who sought to have a career of their own were belittled.

The demand for music and radio to be portable introduced the audio cassette player. Digital audio was developed in the late 1970s and along with

played FM radio, AM radio and got paid for advertising to listeners. In the early years of the Internet USENET was the dominant file sharing

Hope In George Orwell's 1984
In Greek mythology, there was a woman named Pandora who had in her possession a box filled with all the evils in this world. She did not know
what was in the box, but was told not to ever open it. Unfortunately, her curiosity got the better of her and she opened the box. Death and many of the
other evils escaped into the world, but one of the feelings remained in the box. This was hope. Hope is the one sentiment that people cling onto when
nothing else is left. All throughout history hope has been a major theme in life and in literature. Authors can use the idea of hope to lure readers into a
false sense of security, and then crush that hope and end the brief feeling that everything is going to be alright. However, that hope can never completely

The conclusion of the Titanomachy, the war between the titans and the olympic gods led to the creation of man as two spared titans Prometheus and
his brother Epimetheus shaped man out of mud as Athena the goddess of wisdom breathed life into the clay figures. With the creation of man and
animals, prometheus assigned Epimetheus to give the creatures of earth various qualities such as Swiftness, cunningness, strength, fur and wings.
However as he got to man, all the good qualities where taken leading to Prometheus giving man the ability to stand upright like the gods and the power
of fire. Prometheus began to favor man more then the olympians as Zeus demanded man to sacrifice portion of each food to the gods leading to

Pandora's Box: What the Myth Means Today
Pandoras Box: What the Myth Means TodayIntroductionImagine a life with no pain, worries, or misery in which to speak all evils held secure by a
sacred beast or mythological container. This is the life described in many fantasies of the days before man, woman, and hardship. With any myth,
however, unlocking and explaining the gift of knowledge and becoming aware seems to account for all evils that have been imparted upon
humankind. This is a very similar beginning to the story of Adam and Eve in that a woman is blamed for all; thus, the story of Pandoras Box becomes
relevant. This type of awareness comes at a price, usually a type of punishment received for deceit to account for humanitys inquisitiveness. In seeking

In retribution for being tricked, Zeus took the fire of the gods away from men. Continuing his quest to teach men these skills, Prometheus snuck up to
Mount Olympus and stole fire for humankind (Baase, n.d.). Our technological inventiveness has allowed us to create the tools necessary to extract a
large amount of the worlds fossil fuels from the Earth. Though the knowledge weve learned has become valuable, the process of attaining this
knowledge has been harmful to the planet. This ability is causing greenhouse gases and causing severe damage to the worlds environment. Another
comparison has been made between Pandoras Box and the Internet because of the good that can come from the Internet, including shared knowledge,
increased communication, and the breaking down of cultural barriers. Birnie (2004) states that those who fail to realize the profound effect of the
Internet on all our lives are condemned to life in the cyberspace equivalent of a cave (В¶2). The entire world is affected by the electronic environment
that has been constructed. The good that has come from the Internet includes instant communication with friends and family, ease of commerce for big
and small companies, stock trading, increased visibility and recognition for artists and those looking to share information, and simplicity of
investigative and scientific research. With the creation and use of the Internet come Pandoras Box and the opening of many evils such

My Legacy in Writing Skills
"It's the wanting to know that makes us matter." This quote in Tom Stoppard's Arcadia, inspired me beyond my years of wisdom. I have used this
quote at least once in my writing every year, because it inspired me to leave my legacy through writing. I write of what I want to know, of what I
want to change, of what I believe, and one day a collection of my writing will be all that's left of me, and it will allow me to still matter, even when I'm
gone. Although my writing may not be equivalent to Tom Stoppard's, I am slowly progressing towards obtaining strong writing skills. Writing in
English 1101 this semester has taught me to dive deep into stories, to work on my organization and grammar, and most importantly, to remind myself
that I write to leave a legacy.
There have been many changes in my writing over the semester, from the first capitalized letter of the piece down to the last period. A specific
change I treasure is my quality of depth in my writing. Like an artist's paintbrush, I believe it's the key component to any piece of work. When I first
wrote at the beginning of the year, I added depth to my writing with my infrastructural beliefs and perspective, rather than analysis and strong reasoning.
In my first piece for this class, I wrote a narrative on the effects of terrorism on the Islamic community. I expressed what I was shown, "The students
acknowledged that their understanding of our faith was constructed off the information written in their secular textbooks.

Pandora's Box The term "Pandora's Box" is synonymous with a container that contains all unforeseen evils and bad luck. In this case, no one should
open the jar lest all the bad content spill out. The origin of the phrase was in ancient Greeks. Zeus, the overall leader of the gods, was angry at
Prometheus, a titan, for stealing fire from heaven and giving man. The act would explain the origin of humanity using fire. Therefore, Zeus presented
the Pandora (a box) to Prometheus' brother, Epimetheus. In the box, all evils would affect man if opened. The goal of Zeus was to punish Prometheus
through heaping calamities to man. Zeus would act so because he knew Prometheus loved man. Therefore, the story of the Pandora Box according to
Greek mythology explains why evil things happen on earth. There Pandora's Box explains the origin of evil and hope in the world and offers solutions
to life challenges. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Therefore, all evil streamed into the world when Pandora opened the box. Zeus punished Prometheus already but still felt the need to punish the whole
population for a single man's sin (Schlegel and Weinfield 6). The initial punishment of Prometheus being chained on a cliff and having an eagle eat his
liver for eternity was enough. Thus, punishing the whole generation for a single individual's sins is harsh and unfair. Ideally, every single person should
face punishment individually but not as a group. The retribution to the population was for accepting the present of the fire meant for the gods

Pandora's Role In Greek Myth
Created to cause the downfall to mankind, Pandora, was produced with deception in mind. She was fashioned to look similar to a goddess, armed
with fine graces and beauty, she was the epitome of all things nice and pleasant. However her whole existence was created to ensure the destruction
of men. As stated by Zeus the king of all gods, "But I will give men as the price for fire an evil thing in which they may all be glad of heart while they
embrace their own destruction."(7) Pandora was fabricated out of nothing with the main purpose of deception. She was a living, walking trap ready to

In Greek mythology, Prometheus was a Titan who brought the "the gift of fire and the skill of metalwork" to man. Because he achieved this by
stealing from Zeus, the king of the gods, he was punished. He was chained to a stake, where, every night, and eagle was sent to gnaw on his
regenerative liver. Other myths suggest that, in a world where man already had fire, he tricked Zeus into eating fat and bones rather than quality meat.
Angered, Zeus took fire away from man, so they would be forced to eat all of their meat raw. Prometheus retaliated by returning the flames to man.
Prometheus was unique in that he didn't support his own kind in a war against the gods. SImilarly, Equality did not conform to the Council's

Prometheus completed a similar task when he introduced fire to mankind. Both were punished for providing society with methods of improving life.
Gaea was the first Greek goddess, who "symbolised the Earth, and was the mother of everything." United with Chaos, she gave birth to the Titans and
the entire world, among other things. She assisted the king of the gods, Zeus, in overthrowing the Titans and bringing about a new age.
Rand likely named The Golden One after Gaea because, like the earth goddess, she would come to be the mother of all that is new. The society
Prometheus intends to create cannot flourish without new generations, and she is the only one who can make that happen.
Gaea opposed the father of her children and disobeyed him in order to overthrow him. The Golden One went against the government's wishes for the
same reason. While Gaea was the first of her kind, The Golden One began her story as one of many, but found her individuality in the

The Absurdist Idea Of Hope In Pandora's Myth
Pandora's myth includes the first human woman in Greek mythology created by the gods Hephaestus and Athena as prompted by Zeus. Pandora was
delivered to Prometheus' brother as a bride. Zeus gives her a jar filled with various evils as a wedding present; however, an important condition given
by Zeus was that she was forbidden to open it. Her thoughts were overwhelmed by the possibilities that could be within the jar. One day, out of curiosity,
Pandora opens the box and releases all evils into the world. After noticing what she had done, she traps Hope inside of the jar. The idea of Hope is
considered an Absurdist idea as it holds mortals back from accomplishing positive reality by causing them to focus the positive possibility of their future

Zeus' true plan for keeping including Hope as an evil within the jar is not to leave a positive thought for mortals to endure as they suffer. Hope is
meant to connect with an absurdist idea of life being meaningless due to it keeping mortals on a constant search for future satisfaction rather than
satisfaction during their current life. For instance, during the time of the ancient myth, there weren't many occurrences to incorporate a need of
hope for; however, in the modern world, hope is significant amongst mortals as they feel it is all they have during difficult times such as the major
effects of Hurricane Katrina in 2005. Mortals felt that hope was the only idea that remained after they had lost everything. During a devastating
occurrence such as Hurricane Katrina, hope is appropriate in order for those affected by the devastation to feel as if they have something positive to
expect after such a tragic event. Some acted on their instinct and appropriate response in order to make their hopeful future come true by moving
away from the disastrous area while others relied on hope to protect them as they stayed around the same area of the previous disaster. Their life could
slowly become meaningless as they are in constant fear of the disaster occurring once

In the myth of Prometheus, adapted from Wonder Stories by Carolyn Sherwin Bailey, a giant's decision to do what is right leads to an unexpected end.
Prometheus and his brother, Epimetheus, were helping the creatures of Earth and Prometheus took a handful of the earth and saw little seeds in it
which gave him an idea. But after he helped his creation in surviving, it brought destruction to the Earth. Prometheus's choice to protect the humans had
a negative consequence.
At the beginning of the story, Prometheus creates a human and gives it fire so that it can live. He made a human out of earth, water, and seeds and
molded it that so it looks like the gods.He gave the human fire and it used to light forges to make weapons and tools: "Fire was the most useful gift

Analysis Of The Myth Of Pandora
The myth of Pandora starts with two brothers, Epimetheus and Prometheus, who were Titans that tasked themselves as spokespeople for their creation
from clay: mankind. Epimetheus was in charge of creating the creatures that were to roam the Earth while Prometheus was to distribute them. While
most animals were armed or protected by their physical attributes, man stood alone naked and bear to all those that may attack. Thus, Prometheus, the
mischevious of the two, deceived Zeus one day into giving mankind the best portion of a sacrificed bull, leaving behind bare bones and fats for the
gods. Outraged and offended, Zeus then took the gift of fire away from mankind to leave them in the cold and darkness. However, Prometheus once
again outwitted Zeus and stole unwearying fire for men to have the intelligence necessary to sustain their lives. As punishment, Zeus chained
Prometheus to a rock in Caucasus where an eagle ripped apart and devoured his liver every day, which then regenerated each nightfall as result of his
immortality. Although Prometheus caused him the most angst, Zeus believed the kind–hearted Epimetheus deserved to struggle as well in a form that
would not only punish him but also the brothers' creation of mankind. Zeus called out for Hephaestus to construct the most beautiful, intelligent, and
brave women named Pandora to be the new companion of Epimetheus in place of Prometheus. However, he also graced her with one other quality:
curiosity. So, Zeus delivered his

Comparing Zeus And Prometheus In Pandora's Box
In Pandora's Box, there are two human brothers who go by the names of Epimetheus and Prometheus. Both of the brothers tended to upset the gods
and had angered one of the gods in particular, Zeus. Even before Epimetheus and Prometheus, humans had already upset Zeus so he took away man's
ability to make or produce fire. Prometheus was quite intelligent, and he knew that a blacksmith named Hephaestos had a forge on the Isle of Lemnos
with a fire burning in it. Prometheus thought it was a good idea to steal fire from the blacksmith. This angered Zeus even more so he came up with a
plan to punish humans for their lack of respect.
With the help of Hephaestos, he created a woman from clay. Zeus brought her to life and made her both beautiful and charming. Zeus named her
Pandora and gave her to Epimetheus as a gift. Even though Prometheus warned him not to accept any gifts from the gods, he did anyways. He was
enchanted by Pandora's charming appearance and didn't believe she could possibly cause any harm, so Epimetheus married her. Zeus ... Show more

The myth demonstrated how curiosity can bring big troubles, but it can also bring hope. There is a well–known saying that "curiosity killed the cat."
However, this is only the first part of the phrase. The second part is "but satisfaction brought it back." In the myth, it explained how Pandora's
curiosity brought misery and destruction into the world after she had opened the box. When she reopened it after hearing the voice from within the
box, hope was released and healed the wounds caused by the sting of those evil creatures. This demonstrates that while curiosity may bring misery,
sadness, poverty, and disease, it may also bring wisdom, knowledge, and hope in life. Without curiosity people wouldn't take risks or try new things.

Two famous myths from the ancient world, "Pandora's Box" and "Loo Wit, The Firekeeper," describe human suffering in their own way. The theme of
"Pandora's Box" is acting out of revenge will only lead to suffering. The all–mighty god, Zeus, cultivated a plan out of revenge for what Prometheus
had done (shown fire to the humans), "Zeus extended his displeasure... It was a scheme which would [affect]... the whole race of human beings..."
(Untermeyer 1). It can be implied that Zeus punished the human race for an act they didn't commit, leading to the fact that humans were at risk because
of Zeus's unforgiving personality. The theme of "Loo Wit, The Firekeeper" is that although it's human nature to want what you don't have, greed will

Pandora's Box Research Paper
The myth of Pandora's Box shows that curiosity can have bad consequences. Bad things can happen to good people, and good things can happen to
bad people. But in the end, it was all about what was in Pandora's box. Pandora's curiosity is responsible for the bad elements of the world.
The myth starts when Zeus becomes angry with Prometheus for stealing fire and giving it to man. To punish man for accepting the fire "Zeus created a
woman named Pandora" ("The Story of Pandora's Box"). Zeus created her out of clay, and sent her to Epimetheus for him to fall in love with and
marry. As a wedding gift Zeus gave Pandora a Box, and told her that she should never opened it. Pandora tried to get Epimetheus to open the box
with the key that was attached to the box. but he always told her no. One night Pandora stole the key while Epimetheus was sleeping and opened the
box. A lot of elements "flew out of the box including greed, envy, hatred, pain, disease, hunger, proverty, war, and death" ("The Story of Pandora's
Box"). Pandora's curiosity released dangerous elements to roam the world.
Pandora did not want to listen to Zeus's warning. If pandora had listened to Zeus, there would not be dangerous elements roaming the world. It was

Depending on the version of the myth, hope was let out of the box with the other evil elements. "The very last thing to fly out of the box... Was
Hope"("Pandora's Box Story"). While other versions say hope was left in the box. "Pandora managed to keep one spirit in the jar as she shut the
box, a timid spirit named Elpis, usually translated as Hope" (Gill). Hope was either let out and helped with the elements or left in the box and gave
humans something to hold on to. "Humans have been able to hold on to this hope in order to survive the wickedness that Pandora had let out" (Gill).
Although hope was there it does not make up for all the evil Pandora had let

Prometheus Quotes
The story of Prometheus shows us that a struggle for power can have good or bad consequences.
An element in the myth of Prometheus is the Origins of Life . A quote to support this element is " With fire Man made weapons, defied the frost and
cold ,made tools and money, introduced the arts, and was able to destroy as well as create." This quote is related because with fire man was advance
however, fire had downfalls. Prometheus also helped humans but for that he had to play the consequences, for his actions, " Zeus chained Prometheus
to the top of a mountain, and every day an eagle came and ate Prometheus liver. Every day, his liver grew back." The key element in this quote is the

Pandora's Box Research Paper
The myth of Pandora's box is often seen as one of the most clear–cut myths regarding the origin of human behavior in Greek mythology. Ancient
Greeks used this myth as a way to show weaknesses in humanity, as well as to illustrate the many hardships humans endure. A "Pandora's box" is a
phrase that means the the source of continuous complications. The saying stems from ancient Greek mythology, precisely a collection of epic poems by
Hesiod, Works and Days. The poet describes the creation ofPandora, the first woman, and a gift given to her by Zeus, which eventually ends the
Golden Age of humankind.
The gods created Pandora to be a punishment for mankind as a result of Prometheus giving them the knowledge of fire. All of the gods gave Pandora a
gift during her creation. According to Hesiod, each of the gifts given to her were beautiful but evil. Hephaestus molded Pandora perfectly out of clay.

Zeus commanded Hermes to teach Pandora to be deceitful and to have curiousity. Pandora was handed a box or a jar, called a "pithos" in Greek
(Over the years the translation has become "box"). The Gods told her that the jar held different gifts from them but that she was not permitted to open
the box ever. Then Hermes brought Pandora to Epimetheus, brother of Prometheus, to become his wife. Prometheus had cautioned Epimetheus not to
take anything from the Gods, but when he saw Pandora, he was overwhelmed by her beauty and accepted her without delay. Pandora made an effort to
subdue her curiosity, but in the end she could not prevent it anymore; she opened the box and all the illnesses and misfortune that gods hid in the box
began escaping. ("Pandora's Box." Wikipedia. Wikimedia Foundation, n.d. Web. 15

is concealed, Prometheus, son of Iapetus, deceives the king of the gods and takes fire back, slipping by with it hidden in the hollow stalk of a fennel
plant. When Zeus discovers this insolence, he declares the punishment of Prometheus, as well as mankind: an evil that they will willingly accept and
welcome as it destroys. Immediately after threatening, he turns to his brothers and sisters for help in the master scheme. He commands Hephaestus to
create a young maiden, in a fair goddess' image, out of earth and water, then orders Athena to teach the girl handcrafts and web weaving. Zeus instructs

Allusions To Pandora In Today's Society
There are many allusions to Pandora in modern day life. In this report I will be writing about all of the different ways Pandora is incorporated in
todays society. Pandora was the first woman on earth and she was created by Zeus as a punishment to Prometheus. Zeus gave Pandora and a box to
Epimetheus and told him not to open it. Pandora and Epimetheus lived a happy life together in a world where no one grew old or sick. Later in life
Pandora grew curious and she opened the box releasing hate, jealousy, cruelty, anger, hunger, poverty, pain, sickness, old age, and death into the
world. With all of the horrible things, one good thing came out of the box, that thing was Hope. Hope made it possible for humans to have a
chance at happiness. The phrase "curiosity killed the cat" refers to someone's downfall. In my opinion the phrase refers to the act of Pandora
opening the box. Pandora let her curiosity get the best of her which led to the downfall of not only her but the entirety of the world. Since Pandora
had opened the box she in a way "killed the cat" because she had but the world in jeopardy. The story of "Frankenstein" also ... Show more content on

Pandora's Calyx-Krater
Nonetheless by the fifth–century Hesiod's story of Pandora became a part of Greek education and while most Athenians wouldn't have remembered all
of the details they surely would have remembered Pandora's pithos (box). While Pandora is primarily known for this, there is evidence that shows that
the Athenians preferred to view her benevolent temperament. The pottery created in Athens towards the middle of the fifth–century depicted her as a
charitable character. A Calyx–Krater, by the Niobid Painter (Figures 2a & 2b) depict Pandora as an Earth–goddess or deity. We know the woman

signifying, Pandora as an earth goddess. Hipponax, an ancient scholar who cataloged, declared: "To Pandora, the earth, because she bestows all
things necessary for life." Pandora was also associated with festivals of the first fruits of the earth, specifically the Thargelia. The Thargelos,
meaning "pot full of seeds", is a festival held at the time of harvest. Which would explain the connection Pandora would have with a jar. Another
depiction of Pandora as an earth goddess comes is the form of a crater (Figures 3a & 3b). The crater depicts Pandora on the right rising from the

The Conception Of Women In Hesiod's Poems
In Works and Days, each of the Olympian gods had a hand in Pandora's conception and led her to Epimetheus – leading to the human males' demise.
Aphrodite "golden to spill grace on her head/And painful desire and knee weakening anguish" (Works 84), Hermes the "quicksilver messenger put in
her breast/Lies and wheedling words and a cheating heart," (Works 97) while the Seasons "Put on her head a crown of springtime flowers," (Works
95) and other gods had contributed to making her "irresistible bait" (Works 103). The story ofPandora as told by Hesiod, exemplifies his views on a
male dominated and misogynistic society. He definitely views women as a "lovely evil" made to "balance the good"–men (Theogony 368). This can

household they are like the drones who, "Stay inside, in the hollow hives/Stuffing their stomachs with the work of others," (Theogony 382–383)
implying that women only know how to reap the fruit of men's hard work. Men work while women enjoy and Hesiod claims this is, "how Zeus...Made
women as a curse for mortal men" (Theogony 384–385). The negative feelings between the relationship of women and men grow throughout the poem

In Greek mythology, Prometheus had a reputation as being a clever trickster and he famously gave the human race the gift of fire and the skill of
metalwork, action for which he was punished by Zeus, who ensured every day that an eagle ate the liver of the Titan as he was helplessly chained to a
rock. Prometheus, whose name means "Forethought" , was able to see into the future. He warned his brother Epimetheus not to marry Pandora; who's

Zeus released him from bondage in gratitude, ordering Heracles to shoot the eagle and break the god's binding chains.
Next, the god Prometheus was represented by or as fire and craftsmen. Prometheus created mankind out of clay and water also; he gave the valuable

New Models Of Doing Business: Pandora Radio As if the music industry has not seen enough change in recent years, Pandora Radio has started yet
another music revolution. This time, however, the revolution is not about how the music is stored and collected (LP/CD/MP3 transformation), or how
music is purchased (Record Stores/ iTunes transformation), but how we actually listen to music. Pandora Radio has created an amazing technology,

In contrast, there exist many intermediaries with the traditional radio business model. Disc Jockeys select the music to broadcast and station managers
determine what type of genre and audience to target. With this old way of doing business, satisfying the customer was a never–ending challenge of hit
and miss, where ratings were correlated to what was being played. With Pandora, customer satisfaction is inherent in their model. Users create their
own stations to listen to, and are constantly customizing stations to tailor to their tastes. The argument can be posited that while Pandora does possess
a new high technology and a new way of doing business, the existing technology support network cannot support Pandora–a large portion of radio is
listened to people commuting in cars where an internet connection is beyond the normal means of consumers. This is a false assumption. The
technology support network is currently undergoing change to meet the demand for internet connectivity anytime, anywhere. Technologies such as 3G

"Pandora's Box" and "Loo–Wit, the Firekeeper," are similar because they both use character's actions to help prove the distinctive themes. The theme
in, "Pandora's Box," is even in the darkest times, there will be hope. Zeus releases his anger in a very passionate and angry way. He tricks Pandora into
releasing all the evil in the world because her brother–in–law gave fire to the human race. This is Zeus' way of punishing Prometheus. On page 479 it
says, " 'It is Hope,' she said. 'Do you think it will live?' asked Epimetheus. 'Yes,' answered Pandora. 'I am sure it will. Somehow I know that it will
outlive War and Sickness and all the other evils.'" When Pandora says this, it really shows how the action

Ethics and Corporate Social Responsibility in the Music...
Since the music industry is quite diverse it is consequently impacted by a great number of ethical issues. The issues span across the production side to
the consumptions side of music. They issues deal with things as inconsequential as lip syncing to the breaking of laws when stealing music. Although
there are a lot of different areas that can be examined within the industry, the most important ethical issues fall under the category of compensation.
The first major aspect of compensation is in regard to royalties. Royalties are defined as "an amount of money that is paid to the original creator of a
product, book, or piece of music based on how many copies have been sold" according to Webster's dictionary. Artists... Show more content on

The question then became "Just because we can get the music we want without paying for it, should we?" (Tyson, 2000, p.1). This issue of illegal
downloads, which is also referred to as piracy, has been a hot topic ever since the introduction of Napster. According to Recording Industry Association
of America "In the decade since peer–to–peer (p2p) file–sharing site Napster emerged in 1999, music sales in the U.S. have dropped 47 percent, from
$14.6 billion to $7.7 billion" (RIAA, 2014).
When people illegally download music they are robbing the artists of royalties. The fact that people are increasingly stealing music begs a further
question of how slippery this slope is. Will the music industry stop making money altogether because people can just find a way to get their music
illegally? While this is the far extreme it is important to note the far reaching implications of what this could mean for the industry. Striking losses of
profits would cripple artists and everyone involved in producing or distributed the music. An example of how the music industry is losing profits on
royalties is evident with the declining us of CDs. Today, the CD is becoming an outdated and inferior product that only true fans of an artist will seek
out. Another example is when music is being purchased legally online. When consumers purchase online music it is almost always going to be a lower
cost. As a consumer, you have the option to just buy the songs you like.

sometimes curiosity is dangerous. Curiosity can be dangerous because she was told not to open the box and still did and let out all the misfortunes
out. Another theme of Pandora's box is to not accept gifts from your opponents to easily because they cant be any good for you. The Symbol of

The story of Pandora is an interesting wich you will see down below. Pandora is important to Greek Culture because it shows the human trait that helps
us and the traits that could potentially create problems for themselves and or others. Pandor shows curiosity and preference which are common traits
that people have.
In Greek mythology, there were two brothers named Epimetheus and Prometheus. The two of them gave fire to the people without asking Zeus. As

Prometheus And Io Analysis

  • 1. Prometheus And Io Analysis pp. 78–81 "Prometheus and IO" Prometheus, the creator of mankind who gave them fire from Mt. Olympus, sees a mysterious stranger approach him. It was a creature that looked like a cow, but for some reason spoke as if it was a human girl. The beast, confused by the presence of the Prometheus, asks if he was banished to Caucasus as punishment for his sins and where exactly it was. Prometheus recognized the girl and her story. It was the daughter of Inachus, IO, who appeared before him. She was loved by the gods, but despised by Hera, Zeus' wife. They both discuss how they were treated by Zeus; however, IO was once a princess in an affair with Zeus that caused Hera to force him to punish her. Zeus would descend to earth and shroud the earth with clouds ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Hera couldn't find Zeus in heaven one day, so she went to earth and saw Zeus with a lovely white heifer, IO. Zeus transformed IO into a heifer to hide his sin from his wife. Hera saw straight through Zeus' lie about only seeing IO at that moment and decided to put her under the watch of the hundred–eyed creature Argus. Some of Argus' eyes could rest while the others watched IO. Zeus sentHermes, his son and the most intelligent god, to smite Argus. Hermes disguised himself as a common country fellow and played a marvelous tune on a pipe made of reeds that pleased Argus enough that he requested Hermes to come over and play for him. Hermes at first did nothing but play and tell stories to cause Argus to fall asleep with all of his eyes shut. After Hermes told the story about the god Pan and his love for a nymph named Syrinx who was turned into a shepherd's pipe, Argus fell asleep and everyone of his hundred eyes shut. Hermes took this moment and killed the monstrous beast. Hera was furious and took the eyes of Argus and placed them on the back of a peacock's tail. Hera sent a gad–fly to follow IO wherever she went and the creature wouldn't let IO eat, drink, or stop to rest. Prometheus ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 2. Prometheus: Rebellion Against Injustice 10. Prometheus has always been a symbol of rebellion against injustice because he helped the humans even though it angered Zeus. In one of the myths of how humans were created, Prometheus's brother, Epimetheus, wasted all of the best gifts on animals and did not leave any for humans. When Prometheus was put in charge of the creation of humans, he had to make them better than the animals that Epimetheus made with limited resources. To complete this task, he made humans upright, like the gods, and gave them the most important gift, fire. Before Prometheus gave humans fire, it only existed in heaven. Prometheus had to go to heaven, light a torch, and bring it back to the earth to bring fire to the Earth, but it was a gift of protection that was better than any of the other gifts. ... Furthermore, when Prometheus arranged that humans would keep the best part of the meat and the gods would get the worst, it showed another time that he would rebel against the injustice against humans. When Prometheus let Zeus pick between the two different parts of the ox that he cut up, he had to trick Zeus into picking the white fat and bones. He knew that this would anger Zeus, but he also did not want the humans to get nthe worst part of the animal. Overall, Prometheus was very unselfish and would do something that would be considered wrong to help others, which made him the symbol of rebellion against ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 5. Pandora's Box Research Paper Pandora's Box has opened Zeus , the king of Greek gods, gave the titan Epimetheus the gift of Pandora, the first women, and a box that was never meant to be opened. The gift was really a trap for Epimetheus because of his brothers trickery of Zeus or in other words the gift of knowledge to man. Zeus told him to never open the box, but Zeus also created Pandora with a great sense of curiosity. The curiosity later led her to open the box releasing a great amount of evil onto mankind. At the very bottom of the box was something that wasn't evil. The good that came out of the box was hope. Mankind had never needed hope, because before this they never had any need for hope. To me, the senior research project is a lot like Pandora's Box. A box that once open may never be shut again. That held many an evil and even held hope once the evil was out of the box. The senior research project is like that in many ways. It is a project that once started can also not be stopped and will give me a lot of hard times along the road, but just as in Pandora's box there are good things that will come out of it such as a sense of completion and a hope that it will get me ready for college. ... This is because when I'm in my garage, I have music playing 24/7. It's very user friendly and welcoming so that just about anyone can use it. The impact that Pandora Radio has on the society is very minimal in my opinion, but for as for businesses it gives them a way to have music for their employees or customers. The plus with this is that it increases moral for employees so everyone will work harder and want to be there. While Pandora offers music, Hulu offers plethora of TV shows and is always ... After Empimetheus took her into his society,Pandora proceeded to open the jar which released evil and sickness upon humans. When she closed the jar, the only thing that remained inside was hope. However, once they took flight Icarus forgot (or ignored) his father's instructions and flew too close to the sun, therefore melting the wax on his wings and sending him to his death in the sea below. I found a few different messages in this story, as I did in the story of Pandora. The first message I discovered within this story is that mankind has seemingly limitless power, but man must be cautious of how this power is used. Daedalus was intelligent enough to construct a pair of workable wings, however having the gift of flight was never naturally meant for man therefore leading to the a downfall (literally). Just because we have the power do something does not mean we should do it. I also found the message of moderation or self–control in this story as well. Clearly, Icarus became overcome with exhilaration by the feeling of flight thus, not only forgetting his father's instructions but also his sense of self–control, which lead him to fly too close to the sun. Had he been able to moderate his feeling, he probably would not have met his death. One must practice moderation and self–control in all aspects of life in order to avoid putting themselves in possible danger. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

She did not know what was in the box, but was told not to ever open it. Unfortunately, her curiosity got the better of her and she opened the box. Death and many of the other evils escaped into the world, but one of the feelings remained in the box. This was hope. Hope is the one sentiment that people cling onto when nothing else is left. All throughout history hope has been a major theme in life and in literature. Pandora's Box: What the Myth Means Today Pandoras Box: What the Myth Means TodayIntroductionImagine a life with no pain, worries, or misery in which to speak all evils held secure by a sacred beast or mythological container. This is the life described in many fantasies of the days before man, woman, and hardship. With any myth, however, unlocking and explaining the gift of knowledge and becoming aware seems to account for all evils that have been imparted upon humankind. This is a very similar beginning to the story of Adam and Eve in that a woman is blamed for all; thus, the story of Pandoras Box becomes relevant. • 15. My Legacy in Writing Skills "It's the wanting to know that makes us matter." This quote in Tom Stoppard's Arcadia, inspired me beyond my years of wisdom. I have used this quote at least once in my writing every year, because it inspired me to leave my legacy through writing. I write of what I want to know, of what I want to change, of what I believe, and one day a collection of my writing will be all that's left of me, and it will allow me to still matter, even when I'm gone. Although my writing may not be equivalent to Tom Stoppard's, I am slowly progressing towards obtaining strong writing skills. Writing in English 1101 this semester has taught me to dive deep into stories, to work on my organization and grammar, and most importantly, to remind myself that I write to leave a legacy. There have been many changes in my writing over the semester, from the first capitalized letter of the piece down to the last period. A specific change I treasure is my quality of depth in my writing. Like an artist's paintbrush, I believe it's the key component to any piece of work. When I first wrote at the beginning of the year, I added depth to my writing with my infrastructural beliefs and perspective, rather than analysis and strong reasoning. In my first piece for this class, I wrote a narrative on the effects of terrorism on the Islamic community. I expressed what I was shown, "The students acknowledged that their understanding of our faith was constructed off the information written in their secular textbooks. ... In this case, no one should open the jar lest all the bad content spill out. The origin of the phrase was in ancient Greeks. Zeus, the overall leader of the gods, was angry at Prometheus, a titan, for stealing fire from heaven and giving man. The act would explain the origin of humanity using fire. Therefore, Zeus presented the Pandora (a box) to Prometheus' brother, Epimetheus. In the box, all evils would affect man if opened. The goal of Zeus was to punish Prometheus through heaping calamities to man. Zeus would act so because he knew Prometheus loved man. Therefore, the story of the Pandora Box according to Greek mythology explains why evil things happen on earth. Because he achieved this by stealing from Zeus, the king of the gods, he was punished. He was chained to a stake, where, every night, and eagle was sent to gnaw on his regenerative liver. Other myths suggest that, in a world where man already had fire, he tricked Zeus into eating fat and bones rather than quality meat. Angered, Zeus took fire away from man, so they would be forced to eat all of their meat raw. Prometheus retaliated by returning the flames to man. For instance, during the time of the ancient myth, there weren't many occurrences to incorporate a need of hope for; however, in the modern world, hope is significant amongst mortals as they feel it is all they have during difficult times such as the major effects of Hurricane Katrina in 2005. Mortals felt that hope was the only idea that remained after they had lost everything. During a devastating occurrence such as Hurricane Katrina, hope is appropriate in order for those affected by the devastation to feel as if they have something positive to expect after such a tragic event. Prometheus and his brother, Epimetheus, were helping the creatures of Earth and Prometheus took a handful of the earth and saw little seeds in it which gave him an idea. But after he helped his creation in surviving, it brought destruction to the Earth. Prometheus's choice to protect the humans had a negative consequence. • 21. Analysis Of The Myth Of Pandora The myth of Pandora starts with two brothers, Epimetheus and Prometheus, who were Titans that tasked themselves as spokespeople for their creation from clay: mankind. Epimetheus was in charge of creating the creatures that were to roam the Earth while Prometheus was to distribute them. While most animals were armed or protected by their physical attributes, man stood alone naked and bear to all those that may attack. Thus, Prometheus, the mischevious of the two, deceived Zeus one day into giving mankind the best portion of a sacrificed bull, leaving behind bare bones and fats for the gods. Outraged and offended, Zeus then took the gift of fire away from mankind to leave them in the cold and darkness. However, Prometheus once again outwitted Zeus and stole unwearying fire for men to have the intelligence necessary to sustain their lives. As punishment, Zeus chained Prometheus to a rock in Caucasus where an eagle ripped apart and devoured his liver every day, which then regenerated each nightfall as result of his immortality. Although Prometheus caused him the most angst, Zeus believed the kind–hearted Epimetheus deserved to struggle as well in a form that would not only punish him but also the brothers' creation of mankind. Zeus called out for Hephaestus to construct the most beautiful, intelligent, and brave women named Pandora to be the new companion of Epimetheus in place of Prometheus. Both of the brothers tended to upset the gods and had angered one of the gods in particular, Zeus. Even before Epimetheus and Prometheus, humans had already upset Zeus so he took away man's ability to make or produce fire. Prometheus was quite intelligent, and he knew that a blacksmith named Hephaestos had a forge on the Isle of Lemnos with a fire burning in it. Prometheus thought it was a good idea to steal fire from the blacksmith. This angered Zeus even more so he came up with a plan to punish humans for their lack of respect. With the help of Hephaestos, he created a woman from clay. Zeus brought her to life and made her both beautiful and charming. Zeus named her Pandora and gave her to Epimetheus as a gift. Even though Prometheus warned him not to accept any gifts from the gods, he did anyways. In the myth, it explained how Pandora's curiosity brought misery and destruction into the world after she had opened the box. When she reopened it after hearing the voice from within the box, hope was released and healed the wounds caused by the sting of those evil creatures. This demonstrates that while curiosity may bring misery, sadness, poverty, and disease, it may also bring wisdom, knowledge, and hope in life. In this report I will be writing about all of the different ways Pandora is incorporated in todays society. Pandora was the first woman on earth and she was created by Zeus as a punishment to Prometheus. Zeus gave Pandora and a box to Epimetheus and told him not to open it.
