Media A2 Question 2
How effective is the combination of
your main product and ancillary text ?

+
Intention
 From our audience research and other focus group, we found
out that the audience wanted a clear understanding from our
music video and the ancillary. Therefore we needed to come up
with something simplistic and original yet had a very clear link
that we were getting across to our audience.

Magazine advert and video
We linked the video and the
advert. Here we have used the
emphasis of specific key lighting.
As you can see the actor is the
center of attention therefore been
lighted to make him stand out
across the texts.

Magazine advert and Digi-pack
 As you can see there are many links between the mag and Digi
pack. For example as you can see we carry on the white and
back with the color contrast of being rich a poor. As you can
see that this is a large message of ours in our video.
 As you can see use of close up shots and medium shots are
through out all pieces of text. This is because it promotes the
artist and gets people to buy into the look.

Magazine advert and Digi-pack
 As you can see we add the images of Spotify and Itunes to tell
people where they can buy the track from. They are very
recognized and adds a great effects because it draws people in
how easy the track is to get.
 Our record company is also shown through both texts and in the
video. This creates a constant image and this repetition to people
makes them subconsciously remember the logo and company.
With is why its great to have it across all texts.
 As you can see that both the font is rather the same theme, just
the fact that the magazine advert is more bold to make it stand out
more. This makes the audience recognize the consistency. Also
another show of the black and white in one image and then color
in the Digi-pack. Therefore constantly reinforcing the story and the
difference between poverty and being rich.
 Another great point is that the reason the artist on the digi-pack is
in a cartoon and in color is because it conveys the message of
being rich and wealthy is a dream, something that few people get
to live. However the mag cover shows the real effect that its not
easy getting there and everyone has to start from the bottom.

Digi-pack and video
 As you can see the Digi-pack has a massive collaboration as the
house scene in there is shown multiple times and makes the
audience recognize the same image and the interior of the same
house we filmed at.
 The two contrasts of shots makes you lean in and focus into the
video more because people want to make connections and
understand the video and all pieces of text in depth.

Analysis
 The reason we have worked so hard on making all pieces of text and video to
collaborate is so the effectiveness of the message can be conveyed.
 The message shown through the music video and the ancillary tasks means
that this message is clear to the audience and the more they can understand
the more it will appeal to a audience.
 The color contrast of wealth and poverty is the main message in the video and
as you can see we convey this message through the video and ancillary tasks.
 The idea of getting wealthy and people starting from the bottom inspires people
to do great things.
 Also the mese en scene also promotes the image with the expensive houses,
cars and clothing really shows to people when you work hard you can make
lots of money and buy all these great things. This is getting people to buy into
the image.
 Also the add ones of using Spotify and ITunes makes it relatable to the media,
the hash tag is also very popular and tends it with social networking witch is a
superb way to promote the artist, image and message.
