Describe Anne Frank
Anne Frank was a young girl who always strived to find the good in people. She always knew that no matter how horrible or how disgraceful one's
actions were, they still possessed good in their heart. Just like any normal teenager, Anne loved hanging out with her friends, playing outside, and
participating in any activity to keep her going. Until the life Anne and her family once knew was taken away from them. In the summer of 1942, a
man by the name of Adolf Hitler swept all rights of Jewish people out from under them. Which then left no choice, but for Anne and her family to go
into hiding. They lacked the knowledge that they would not escape the secret annex until three years in advance. Although, Anne had knowledge of the

"Whoever is happy will make others happy." This quote from Anne says a great deal about how she lived with everyone. She must have always
been happy and made other people happy who were in the depths of their despair. "In spite of everything, I still believe that people are really good
at heart." Anne wrote this in her diary just before she was taken by the Nazi's. Moreover, Anne was a girl who only thought about the purity and
kindness in people's hearts. She recognized that people made mistakes and did horrible, disgraceful things, but she knew that didn't mean they were
an atrocious person. She had so much compassion in her heart, she never thought or saw anything less than kindness and pureness in people's hearts.
Anne frank experienced a way of life that no one should ever experience. Anne lost her ability to live just because one man was powerful enough to
kill people for their beliefs. It is such a dreadful thought that a young girl with only passionate and pure intentions life was taken because of her
beliefs. Anne was still able to keep this thought in her mind "In spite of everything, I still believe that people are really good at

Generalizations Made About the Franks by Muslims
From the time, the Franks arrived in the Holy Land the native inhabitants started making many generalizations about them. Usama and his countryman
believed many of these generalizations about the Franks. These generalizations came from stereotypes already held about the Christians. Usama and
his countryman were able to build on to these generalizations from their own observations and interactions. "Usama generally indulged in the
stereotypes about Franks that were already commonplace in his day – their lack of refinement, their low intelligence, their animal qualities and so on"
(Usama, xxiii). Usama illustrates many of the generalizations about the Franks in his stories. How they had courage but were extremely cautious, how
they tended to go back on their word, how they have no honor or propriety, are some of the stereotypes expressed through Usamas words. There is also
evidence shown that Usama and his countrymen did not have these stereotypes about Franks who had become assimilated. Many of these
generalizations came from the interactions the two groups had with each other and influenced by each group not understanding the other. Muslims
placed a heavy influence on god; everything is possible by God's divine will. The Franks also were religious they started out this journey on a holy
pilgrimage, but once they conquered the holy land they had to figure out a way to lead while they were the minority. The majority of the
generalizations came from each group

Informative Speech On Anne Frank
Do you know what the Franks went through to keep themselves alive so they would not have to be seperated and killed? You will be learning them
and about the schedule they had for when the could be loud or not. But, most of all you will learn about Anne Frank and her book too. First you will be
learning about the schedule. The morning "ritual" is started by Mr.Hermann Van Pels getting up around 6:45 in the morning, then the others get up
shortly after. From 8:30–9:00 no one must make a sound because that is when the warehouseman start arriving to work. The other workers, office
employees, helpers, don't arrive until 9:00. Then everybody hiding start to go upstairs to the Van Pels room to eat breakfast. After that Miep Gies

listen to the BBC until the workers got back. Then it would be silent again. Now the "nightly freedom". At 5:30 is when they get to have their
nightly freedom as Anne says in her diary. Everybody working has gone home by then, but Bep Voskuijl asks if they are anymore groceries needed
and then she goes home around 5:45. Then all the people hiding spread out to the office space downstairs. Later Auguste Van Pels and Edith Frank

Anne Frank Thesis
The Lose of an Innocent Life The diary of Anne Frank is different from other stories of WWII for the reason of it being a personal memoir from a
young Jewish girl's perspective not intended for the public's view. "The Diary of a Young Girl" was written in the midsts of the second world war
in which Jews were being prosecuted by the Nazis. In the beginning, Frank portrays a fairly normal life; She speaks of boys who "fall head over
heels in love immediately,... and simply won't allow [her] out of [their] sight" ( Frank 5). She is very aware of the genocide of the Jews and her fear
is evident throughout the novel. The Frank's are forced to accelerate their plans to go into hiding when a call up notice is mailed to Margot, Anne's
sister. The... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the past few months, Europe's Anti–Semitism exploded with random acts of violence toward the Jews. The main areas where tensions are rising
include France, Brussels, and Germany. According to political leaders and journalists, a more powerful anti–semitic movement is becoming popular
due to pro–palestinian protesters and right–wings. Although many citizens are tolerant of Jews, the movement is gaining followers. Acts such as the
destruction of Jewish–owned shops, protesters yelling "Death to Jews!" and "Gas the Jews!", Jews being shot and assaulted, and the bombing of a
synagogue all in France makes the Jewish there weary and many have asked "whether [Europe] remains a safe place for Jews" (Yardley 3). Like
the Franks, many Jews are moving while they still can, often to Israel; in fact, "Israeli officials predict that as many as 6,000 Jews will migrate from
France this year (Yardley 22). This huge outflux of people from high tension areas parallels the Jewish during the Holocaust who moved before
tensions became too high in order to be safe. These random acts are reminding Jews of the night Nazis destroyed hundreds of Jewish–owned called
Kristallnacht which was a major step towards anti–semitism in

The Coming Of Christianity And The Kingdom Of The Franks
The coming of Christianity to the kingdom of the Franks was likely the greatest shift of Frankish ideology, going from the traditional pagan culture to
the most powerful political and military system in Western Europe famously rooted in biblical truths during the medieval period. With Christianity
being the foundation of the kingdom, both royals or peasants, clergy or laymen, and Christians and pagans were to become subject the teachings of the
Holy Scriptures and the establishment of the Church. Whether a king or bishop, those within the influence of the Frankish kingdom were to uphold
and protect the religious orthodox and defer all who rejected it. The Frankish ideology, rather than consistently changing, was more so a series of
developments that both maintained the traditional values of the early church and strengthened the expectations of the church based on the conflicts of
what was considered truth or heresy.
The rise of the Carolingians marked a major turning point for Frankish kingship that altered the justification of authority from ancestral ties to divine
acceptance. Before the Carolingian dynasty began, the Merovingian dynasty ruled the Franks starting in the mid fifth century. As a dynasty, the
Merovingian rule foundationally stood upon the leadership of the royal family, in that no one outside of the family could be at the head of the
kingdom. However, the position of the mayor of the palace had many responsibilities and other official daily tasks that

Frank Sinatra
Francis Albert "Frank" Sinatra was born on December 12, 1915, in Hoboken, New Jersey. The only child of Sicilian immigrants, a teenaged Sinatra
decided to become a singer after watching Bing Crosby perform in the mid–1930s. He'd already been a member of the glee club in his high school and
began to sing at local nightclubs. Radio exposure brought him to the attention of bandleader Harry James, with whom Sinatra made his first

Dorsey, Sinatra decided to strike out on his own. Solo Artist Between 1943 and 1946, Sinatra's solo career blossomed as the singer charted a slew of
hit singles. The mobs of bobby–soxer fans Sinatra attracted with his dreamy baritone earned him such nicknames as "The Voice" and "The Sultan of

the boy in every corner drugstore who'd gone off, drafted to the war. That was all." Sinatra made his movie acting debut in 1943 with the films Reveille

Anne Frank Essay
Introduction:
Have you ever had a hard time in your life? The Holocaust was a very tough time for the Jews, they were forced to either find a place to stay or
they would get sent off to concentration camp, which was leading to their last breath. Anne Frank and her family, had to stay in an annex to try to
stay away from the Nazi's because they were Jewish. They had to be really quiet during the day or they would be heard from down below. However,
there is one special girl that handled it very well. Anne Frank once said, " In spite of everything, I still believe people are really good at heart."
Throughout all the obstacles that Anne and her family have faced, she is always looking for the good in people. After reading the diary, I have come
to a decision. Anne's quote really said a lot about her and others around her. I am agreeing with Anne's powerful quote. The others that were in hiding
with Anne really had to persevere and help each other out. When I read the diary I saw that the most caring person was Miep. She always helped them
when they needed something outside of the annex, but I can still see how people think that people during those days were not very good at heart. I
think Mr Van Daan seemed a little rude and selfish about others.
My Side:
After I saw many acts of kindness, throughout the play, based off of Anne's diary, I was persuaded to agree with her quote that everyone is good at
heart. The character that stood out the most to me was Miep. She showed me at the beginning of the book when they all moved into the annex. On
page 8, the dialogue goes on to say,
Narrator: (indicating the sink cupboard)
Miep: We put the stores of food you sent in here.
Narrator:( She crosses to the shelves.)
Miep: Your drugs are here– soap, linen, here.
Mrs. Frank: Thank you, Miep.
Miep: I made up the beds – the way Mr Frank and Mr Kraler said. Forgive me. I have to hurry. I've got to go to the other side of town to get some
ration books for you.
During this scene, the Franks and the Van Daans had just moved into hiding and were trying to settled in quickly. They knew that they were lacking on
the materials that they needed. Mr Frank thought about his workers that weren't Jewish, then he said Miep. Miep was

Frank Sinatra
FRANK SINATRA, holding a glass of bourbon in one hand and a cigarette in the other, stood in a dark corner of the bar between two attractive but
fading blondes who sat waiting for him to say something. But he said nothing; he had been silent during much of the evening, except now in this
private club in Beverly Hills he seemed even more distant, staring out through the smoke and semidarkness into a large room beyond the bar where
dozens of young couples sat huddled around small tables or twisted in the center of the floor to the clamorous clang of folk–rock music blaring from
the stereo. The two blondes knew, as did Sinatra's four male friends who stood nearby, that it was a bad idea to force conversation upon him when he

Sinatra's intonation, precisely clipped, yet full and flowing, gave a deeper meaning to the simple lyrics –– "In the wee small hours of the morning
/while the whole wide world is fast asleep/you lie awake, and think about the girl...." –– it was like so many of his classics, a song that evoked
loneliness and sensuality, and when blended with the dim light and the alcohol and nicotine and late–night needs, it became a kind of airy aphrodisiac.
Undoubtedly the words from this song, and others like it, had put millions in the mood, it was music to make love by, and doubtless much love had
been made by it all over America at night in cars, while the batteries burned down, in cottages by the lake, on beaches during balmy summer evenings,
in secluded parks and exclusive penthouses and furnished rooms, in cabin cruisers and cabs and cabanas –– in all places where Sinatra's songs could be
heard were these words that warmed women, wooed and won them, snipped the final thread of inhibition and gratified the male egos of ungrateful
lovers; two generations of men had been the beneficiaries of such ballads, for which they were eternally in his debt, for which they may eternally hate
him. Nevertheless here he was, the man himself, in the early hours of the morning in

Charlemagne King Of The Franks
Charlemagne King of the Franks
Born in about 742, Charlemagne was the son of King Pepin III (known as Pepin the Short). Pepin and his brother together ruled the Franks, whose
kingdom included parts of present–day France, Belgium, Germany, and the Netherlands. Upon Pepin 's death in 768, Charlemagne and his brother
Carloman inherited the kingdom. When Carloman died three years later, Charlemagne became the sole ruler.
Charlemagne, also known as Charles the great was a ruler in times of turmoil in Europe during the middle ages. Charlemagne came from a
powerful family tree which made a huge impact on why he rose to power. His family history and their backgrounds is what prepared him to take on
the task of becoming King of the Frankish Empire and protecting it from intruders. Charlemagne accomplished much during his reign. He focused on
bringing education back into medieval Europe but, also discovered a more efficient way to govern his people. His conquests against the adversaries
of the Holy Roman Empire is what lead to his expansion and spreading his Empire across most of Europe which he eventually established the
Carolingian Empire in the later years of his supremacy. This also led to strong relationships with the Catholic Church and the State. Charlemagne's goal
was to spread Christianity throughout all of Europe and was willing to fight for his religion. One group in particular he fought with the most was the
Saxons who he nearly eliminated their whole population.

The Diary Of Anne Frank
n the last line of the play The Diary of Anne Frank, Anne Frank has made the statement, "In spite of everything, I still believe people are really good at
heart." During the Holocaust, Anne Frank had such a positive outlook on the situation she was in, despite all the hardships the Franks and Van Daans
encountered during their time in hiding. How could a young lady of fourteen years think of such an empowering statement? In fact, what was Anne
feeling during this time of great terror and tragedy? Only Anne knows the answer to this question, yet people still try to guess her feeling towards the
Holocaust. Did the Holocaust change Anne Frank 's entire outlook on life and the world? Through all of this, Anne Frank still forgave all of the... Show

Sometimes, the Nazis would even kill Jews out of the streets. For this reason, many Jews went into hiding like the Frank family did. When the
Franks first went into hiding, Anne didn 't even know what was going on. She thought that going into hiding was just going to be another fun
adventure. As time passed though, Anne started to realize what was really going on. She later realized how serious the situation they were in was,
and how it was a matter of life and death. Going into hiding meant that the Frank family was going to be confined in the secret annex for a long
period of time until the war ended. From Monday July 6, 1942 the Frank family goes into hiding. The hiding place is not quite ready yet at that
time. Everywhere there are still things in boxes. The people in hiding immediately go to work to make curtains so the neighbors can not see them
from outside. The Van Daan family arrive at the Secret Annex a week later. Anne is happy because there are now more people to talk to. The Van
Daan family live on the third floor. During the day Mr. and Mrs. Van Daan bedroom functions as the common living and dining room. Next door is
Peter van Daan tiny room. Anne writes about it: "...very small, very dark and damp." In Peter 's room, the people in hiding can reach the attic, where
the food supplies are stored. Anne and Peter often go to the attic

Anne Frank: The Play, The Franks And The Van Daan
In the events leading up to the rise of the Nazis and the genocide of approximately six million Jews, two Jewish families and an elderly dentist go into
hiding to try to survive persecution. In Anne Frank: The Play, the Franks and the Van Daan's, along with Mr. Dussel, hide for two years in the Secret
Annex, which was essentially an attic, before being found by the Nazis. Otto Frank, the father, and husband of the Frank family was an exceptionally
intelligent, humble, and sanguine man. He was determined and hopeful to keep his family and friends alive. As the play progresses, Mr. Frank changes
from an optimistic man to a forlorn, pessimistic person. Understandably, under severe circumstances, even the most resilient person can change.
In the play, Mr. Frank is shown to be a person who can be relied on to give a great deal of support and comfort for the group throughout the two
years of confinement. As you can imagine, being cooped up in a small place with seven people can be extremely unnerving. On several occasions
when the struggle of being confined became almost too intolerable, it is Mr. Frank who soothes and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Frank's change from a hopeful, positive man to a disconsolate person is evident and understandable based on the inhumane events he has lived
through, and that everyone he's tried to keep alive is dead, as he is the only survivor. When he reads Anne's diary, he finds a passage where she
expresses her belief that despite everything done to them, she still believes deep down people are good at heart. As he closes the diary he states
"She puts me to shame." this is because after being exposed to the diabolical things a human can do to another, he no longer has the heart to believe
everyone is good at heart. The forlorn hope he had before, is now gone. The utter desolation he had gone through bespeaks of what the other last
surviving Jews must have felt. By simply surviving, he lost more than he could have

Anne Frank And The Holocaust
Anne Frank, a famous victim of the Holocaust said this "How wonderful it is that nobody need wait a single moment before starting to improve the
world." Anne Frank was once a free woman in this world. She didn't have to go into hiding, fear getting caught, or worse, possibly dying.
Anne Frank, a girl who survived partially of World War Two, was born in Frankfurt, Germany June 12, 1929. After the Nazis took power in 1933,
the Franks moved to Amsterdam. Unfortunately, things took an outrageous turn for the worst. Since being Jews, the Frank family would have to
go to a horrible place, known as concentration camps. Later on, a law was passed and all Jews had to register themselves in. That registry was for
the Nazis to find out were the Jews lived. The following spring, the Nazis yet had passed another law. The law stated that all Jewish people had to
put a yellow star on their clothing that said "Jood" on it. Soon after, Jewish families were being called up to go to transit camps. From the transit
camps they would go to Concentration camps. To overcome that, the Frank Family went into hiding. The German invasion of the Nazis started on
May 10, 1940. A year later in 1941, the Franks had started making tactics and preparations to go into hiding, before the Nazis would eventually reach
them. With the help of Otto Frank, Anne's dad and his colleagues at the Opteka Company, Otto was able to prepare a hiding place for his family.
Finally, the day had come. July, 1942, they had moved into the hiding place, called the Secret Annex. The Franks,Van Pels, and other occupants of the
hiding place hid in a secret attic apartment on 263 Prinsengracht Street. Before the Franks, and Van Pels got there, colleagues by the names of Johannes
Kleiman, Victor Kugler , Jan Gies, and Miep Gies, had helped set up the hiding place by smuggling food, and gathering clothing.
As read in the last paragraph, Anne Frank and her family went into hiding. They also stayed with other Jews. Later on in the year, a man by the name
of Fritz Pfeffer had moved into the Annex. He stayed in Anne's room while Anne's sister, Margot stayed with her mother and father. During their stay,
Anne had gotten a diary earlier in the year from her father on

Anne Frank Diary
In the cold, depressing years of World War II, a diary was written by a young girl named Anne Frank. In these years, Anne endured difficult
circumstances and was forced to face almost complete isolation other than her family. Even though she went through this, she kept a positive outlook
and maintained her diary, that would soon become inspirational. The diary is an incredible story of bravery and would enhance the knowledge of the
terrible years of the Holocaust.
PLOT
In July of 1942, Anne and her family were forced to go into hiding when her sister, Margot, was ordered to go to a work camp in Germany. They left
early that morning. Not even able to bring suitcases, they wore several layers of clothes on their way to the secret annex. The annex was hidden

Frank Underwood Character
There's No Point in Whimpering

From the start of the theme song, it provides a mysterious mood that entices the viewer to want to keep watching. Beau Willimon creatively
includes many elements into this work to add depth into the story line. He has a list of characters that vary greatly in terms of personality and
morale. The most significant difference in character is between Frank Underwood and Peter Russo. Frank lives off the rush of the chance of
becoming more successful than he already is while Peter is not particularly interested in a title. Even when Frank has more power, he is not
concerned with helping people while Peter is in a lower position trying to save the jobs of his friends. Willimon skillfully includes symbols in his
work. Specifically in chapter 11, he portrays Zoe as a younger version of Claire, uses Claire's dress as a representation of Frank's personality, and
utilizes the chess board to reflect Frank's plan. These objects allow the viewer to connect with the writer on an intellectual level and it makes the
story more interesting. Willimon ingeniously carries out the foreshadowing from chapter 1 in chapter 11. It was bold of him to start with show with
such a strange intro but it all made sense when Frank kills Peter. Overall, the show displayed a fine storyline and it gave an insight of the corruption
in politics. While the story is a work of fiction, it does provide some truth regarding power hungry politicians ruining other people's lives for their own
gain. With the combination of characterization, symbolism, and foreshadowing, "House of Cards" is a mind teaser with many surprising elements in

people. The story takes place during the Holocaust when the Nazis invade Europe. War is soon to break out and the Franks, a Jewish family, are

The Diary Of Anne Frank
Anne's Relation to Modern Music
A multitude of people nowadays choose their favorite songs because of how they sound and the attractiveness of the singer. However, some people
select their favorite songs because of its appeal by relating to their personalities and feelings. Just as songs can relate to people, they can express
countless similarities with stories as well. When it comes to the story, The Diary of Anne Frank, there are a variety of characters and events that songs
can relate to. The songs "Chocolate Rain", "The Last Goodbye", and "Lost Cities", verbalize numerous commonalities with The Diary of Anne
Frank. Expressing the discrimination African Americans faced, "Chocolate Rain" relates to the Diary of Anne Frank because they both display the
unfair treatment of a type of person. A verse within this song reads, "Say it publicly, and you're insane," refers to the ill treatment the Africans
faced, but can just as well relate to the Jews. Particularly, while under persecution from the Nazis, the Jews' political and moral beliefs were
disregarded by everyone around them. Additionally, this lyric can also relate to how Anne acts with adults. An example of this occurs within the first
scene of the second act when Anne says, "What's the good of that? What's the good of thinking of misery when you're already miserable? That's
stupid!" Oftenly, the adults will see these thoughts as insane and respond as Mr. Van Daan does, "She talks as if we started the war! Did we start

The Goldberg family relocated to Timmins, Ontario during Frank's adolescent years. Unfortunately, during these times, Frank saw how mean kids can
be as he was given the nickname "Fish". People did not accept his religion, Judaism, and the nickname was supposed to put him down but Frank
would later use that as a basis for his some of his creations. During this time, he explored atheism because of these difficulties (Hines, 1986).
Finding and Designing Love
After Frank's father grew sick, the Goldberg family moved to Los Angeles where some of the family already resided. Ironically, they lived in an
apartment that was close to where the Loyola Law School would be built in later years, according to Frank's blueprints. At this time, the family
was struggling for money and Frank had to find a job. He worked as a delivery truck man who installed breakfast nooks. It was through this job that
Frank would meet Anita Snyder, a woman who he married later in 1952. Two years later, with the permission of his family, Frank decided to
change their last name to Gehry. The couple had two daughters and the three followed Gehry to an army base in Georgia (Hines, 1986) and then to

It made me think that being in a cramped small place and not being able to do many anything and living in fear was horrible. Anne always felt
alone and misunderstood. Her diary provided her comfort and she herself said "I hope I will be able to confined everything to you as I have never
been able to do with anyone else" I think what Anne was trying to express that was the harshness that she and her people went through and express
herself in her diary as she couldn't do it with people. This story was about a young girl's view in the holocaust, it was very moving, and sad. I learned
that Anne went through a lot and it was very sad what they went through. The problem was the judgement and hate of innocent people from that of a
crazy man. So much has happened in Anne's life from her once normal life to suddenly having their rights taking from them, surrogated, forced into
hiding feeling isolated, lonely, hiding for two years before they were discovered by the Nazis and taking to concentrated camp where Anne'smother
died of starvation and her and her sister died of hepatitis and Otto who the only surviving Frank that lived. I found Anne frank diary to be very eye
opening that showed the inside of young girls life through the war, I liked the book it was very touching it was not hard to believe Anne's diary

According to Spielman (2017), "Creative intelligence is marked by inventing or imagining a solution to a problem or situation." Frank has created
his own program to help men pick up women. He has his seminars that men can attend and his DVDs that men can watch. His seminars and DVDs
are marked by Frank's flamboyancy, unique quotes, and different approaches to what women want and how to get women. Because Frank appears

intelligence is the "ability to understand and be sensitive to the various emotional states of others." Frank is very knowledgeable when it comes to
the mind of a woman, but he probably is not really sensitive to their needs since he objectifies women. While Frank may not necessarily know all
about others as he may think, he knows a lot about himself. As stated in Spielman (2017), intrapersonal intelligence is the "ability to access personal
feelings and motivations and use them to direct behavior and reach personal goals." Frank understands his own personal needs and desires, which is
why we pursues women in the way that he does. He also exhibits intrapersonal intelligence when he reunites with his father, Earl. He is furious at Earl

The Diary Of Alne Frank And The Diary Of Anne Frank
The Outsiders is a novel about a fourteen–year gang member Ponyboy, who lives in Tulsa, Oklahoma, and his struggles as a greaser and his
relationship with his brother. The Diary Of Anne Frank play is a fictional adaptation about the life of Anne Frank in the Secret Annex during World War
II. Both texts illustrate the theme that people become more mature after experiencing and going through a difficult time.
The Diary of Anne Frank shows the changes in behavior and maturity for the main character, Anne, as she stays in the annex for two years. In Act I,
Anne was more energetic and playful as a thirteen–year–old. Act I Scene 3 highlights Anne's playful and clumsy behavior by talking about her pranks.
On page 552, it states "Anne: Who cares if it's dignified? I don't want to be dignified. Mrs. Frank: [To Anne] You complain that I don't treat you like
a grownup. But when I do, you resent it" (Goodrich and Hackett 552). This shows that Anne is not ready to be treated like an adult. She dislikes when
her mother expects her to be mature and she has a teenage mentality. She does not care that her behavior is not dignified and mature. She wants to have
fun and frolic, much like what a child would want. Therefore, in the beginning of Act I, Anne acts childish and immature. However, in Scene 4 of Act
II, it mentions how Anne has matured. "She is no longer a child, but a woman with courage to meet whatever lies ahead" (634). This quote shows that
change that Anne has gone through as a

The Between Saxons And Franks
Out of all German tribes Saxons stood out not only as highly aggressive and warlike, but very also as much committed to pagan cults. The borderline
between Saxons and Franks was very vague, "except in a few places, where large forests or mountain ridges intervened and made the bounds certain,
the line between ourselves and the Saxons passed almost in its whole extent through an open country" (Einhard, 2013); murders, robbery and arson
were a daily routine. In order to stop that Charlemagne waged the first war against Saxons in 772. During this period, Charlemagne made attempts in
bringing Christianity to Saxons and finally got them "destroyed as a culture, and they would never again rebel." (Knox, 1999). He did it not only with
fire and sword, but also with violent and culture–destroying set of laws called Capitulary of Saxony.
Charlemagne tried hard to integrate Saxons into his empire. However, at that time, integration always meant the destruction of the old ways. During the
first campaign in 772, Charlemagne captured the castle of Eresburg and destroyed the holy site of Irminsul. Consequently, Charlemagne received the
submission of local chiefs, but they "quickly ignored their oaths to receive missionaries and to send tribute payments to the Christian king" (Knox,
1999). As a result, Franks army returned in 775 and defeated everyone who opposed them. After that, all chiefs were forcibly baptised; Capitulary of
Saxony, the document which proclaimed death to anyone, who

The Diary Of Anne Frank
Anne Frank 's life has impacted the lives of others because, her family background, Anne 's time in hiding, and what she expressed in her diary.
Without Anne we would never know what life was like in the holocaust, from a personal standpoint. It came from the pages of a diary belonging to a
young Jewish girl, Anne Frank. The Diary of Anne Frank has been read by hundreds of millions of people around the world since the end of World
War II. Otto, her father, was a very well respected businessman and a leader of the Jewish community. Anne had one sibling, a sister named Margot,
who was two years older. At the time, the country 's leader was Adolf Hitler, his followers that supported him were known as "Nazi's". Hitler
blamed Germany 's economic disasters on the Jewish people, in order to fix this, he wanted to annex people who practiced the Jewish faith out of
the country. He sent these people to concentration camps, better known as death camps. It was almost impossible for anyone to survive. The camps
consisted of gas chambers, leading poison into a room killing everyone. The main cause of death was starvation, and the poor conditions leading to
diseases. Throughout the book, she explains how hard it was to for her, and her family to get away from these horrible tragedies that took place.
"Think of all the beauty still left around you and be happy." Anne tried to see the positives in life, but it is hard when a grand genocide is happening.

Anne Frank Courage
True, genuine courage is rare, especially in children. Many feign to have this aspect, but in reality, only a select few exceed courage. From 1933 to
1945, Jews lived in fear, not one was safe. In the horrible time of the Holocaust, Jewish people of all ages and conditions were harassed and even
executed. The courageous Frank family, consisting of a father, mother, and two young daughters, were tortured during this time period. One particular
family member, the youngest daughter, has a legacy that still lives on today.Anne Frank was both a hero and a victim of the Holocaust because she was
forced into hiding, her loved ones were killed, and her diaries positively impacted many.
During this dreadful time, Anne Frank was victimized by being forced into hiding. The Franks originally lived peacefully in Germany, but as the Nazis
gained power, they slowly moved to Amsterdam. The father, Otto, previously knew the city and brought his family with him once he found a place to
live (Kniesmeyer 519). Just to avoid confrontation, the Frank family moved from the place they called home their entire lives. Once they moved to

It was the cause of death to nearly 11 million people, and six million consisted of Jews. The Franks took all the precautionary measures possible to
keep themselves, but they could only do so much to defer the inevitability. The first major precaution was going into hiding. The Franks would hide in
an apartment along with another family for two years. The United States Holocaust Memorial Museum states, "During the first half of July, Anne and
her family went into hiding in an apartment which would eventually hide four Dutch Jews as well–Hermann, Auguste, and Peter van Pels, and Fritz
Pfeffer" (ushmm.org). In July of 1942 the Franks went into hiding. They were unaware that they would spend two years in the secret hiding place.
Biography.com writes, "The families spent two years in hiding, never once stepping outside the dark, damp, sequestered portion of the building"
(biography.com). The amount of annoyance of not leaving the same place in two years would be immense. On August 4th, 1944 the Franks and
everyone with them were discovered and arrested. Annefrank.org states, "The people in hiding are caught completely off guard. They have lived with

Writing memoirs is cathartic for most authors. Frank McCourt, the author of various forms of literature, mostly wrote memoirs to cope with his
traumatic experiences. Many of his novels relate to his experiences as a child when he lived in poverty. For an example, in Angela's Ashes Frank

Charlemagne, The King Of The Franks Essay
Charlemagne, also known as Charles the Great, was born around the 2nd of April 747 and died on the 28th of January 814. He was noted down in
history as King of the Franks, a Germanic–speaking people who invaded western Rome residing in current day Germany, the King of the Lombards,
Germanic people who resided in parts of the Italian peninsula, and finally was the first Holy Roman Emperor. Another name that has been bestowed
upon Charlemagne was the title "Father of Europe". Due to the Carolingian empire 's rule, Charlemagne was able to unite nearly all of western Europe.
The last empire to do so was the Roman Empire and no other country would unite Europe until the eighteen hundred under Napoleon. Charlemagne's
father was named Pepin the Short, a name that deceives most on the battlefield due to his incredible and unmatched strength. Pepin the Short was the
predecessor to Charlemagne as the king of the Franks. Pepin also helped set up the Carolingian dynasty but did not peak its power until the crowning of
Charlemagne. Charlemagne's successor was his son, Louis the Pious, who would be dissimilar from Charlemagne. In fact, for most of his reign, Louis
the Pious would have to deal with many civil wars which foreshadowed the diminishing strength of the Carolingian empire. Charlemagne would serve
as the prototype for most of the medieval western Europe for the next millennium until the founding of the new world.

Clovis, king of the Franks, established the Merovingian Empire in 481. Then, in 511, he split his empire between his four sons. The kings in the
Merovingian line continued to hand down their thrones to their later generations, which slowly started to make them weak. This was because they
were using nepotism instead of giving positions based on merit. So, after time, positions called Mayors of the Palace were formed. Mayors of the
Palace, according to the dictionary, were people "of a line of hereditary administrative lieutenants to the Merovingian kings who eventually took over
royal function and title in the Frankish kingdoms". Over time, the descendants of Clovis became to be known as "Do–Nothing kings", because they
relied on the Mayors of the Palace to do work. The "Do–Nothing kings began to have virtually no power, but they still held on to their title as king.
One of the most famous Mayors of the Palace was Charles Martel. His son, Pepin became the Frankish king. Pepin's son was Charlemagne.
Charlemagne, or Charles the Great, was the emperor of the Holy Roman Empire, who achieved many well–known accomplishments which have
shaped the political, military, and religious aspects of Europe today. Charlemagne was known by Einhart as a "good father,

Annene Frank And The Story Of Anne Frank
Books or stories affect people in different ways, many of them being happy because everyone lives happily ever after. Very rarely do I get affected
by books, and the Story of Anne Frank is one of them. This poor Jewish girl, has to hide away with seven other people, three of them being her
actual family members. Mrs Vandaan was one of the many people living in that annex. In some way shape or form I connected with this character
on an emotional level. She showed me that there is more to life than buying the most expensive clothing, and how to care for people. Just as she
cared for her husband and son. When Anne dropped milk on her fur coat, it showed me that I should forgive, even if it seems like it could never be
forgiven. Even if it was a coat from my father. Anne's life became the opposite of a "normal kids" life, when she had to go into hiding. This I find
cruel and unfair, she should be able to go play outside and hang out with friends. Yet she can't, and it's all because of a religion. When she's in this
annex she is getting skinnier and skinnier by the day because they have so many people, and not a surplus of food. This cruel, for this girl and her
family to have to go through this. It makes me even more upset because of my german heritage. World War 2 was caused because of Hitler and his
desire to make the perfect race. This meant getting rid of the Jews, why this group of people I don't know, but it's still unfair. He thought that if you had

Describe Anne Frank

  • 1. Describe Anne Frank Anne Frank was a young girl who always strived to find the good in people. She always knew that no matter how horrible or how disgraceful one's actions were, they still possessed good in their heart. Just like any normal teenager, Anne loved hanging out with her friends, playing outside, and participating in any activity to keep her going. Until the life Anne and her family once knew was taken away from them. In the summer of 1942, a man by the name of Adolf Hitler swept all rights of Jewish people out from under them. Which then left no choice, but for Anne and her family to go into hiding. They lacked the knowledge that they would not escape the secret annex until three years in advance. Although, Anne had knowledge of the monstrous things ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... "Whoever is happy will make others happy." This quote from Anne says a great deal about how she lived with everyone. She must have always been happy and made other people happy who were in the depths of their despair. "In spite of everything, I still believe that people are really good at heart." Anne wrote this in her diary just before she was taken by the Nazi's. Moreover, Anne was a girl who only thought about the purity and kindness in people's hearts. She recognized that people made mistakes and did horrible, disgraceful things, but she knew that didn't mean they were an atrocious person. She had so much compassion in her heart, she never thought or saw anything less than kindness and pureness in people's hearts. Anne frank experienced a way of life that no one should ever experience. Anne lost her ability to live just because one man was powerful enough to kill people for their beliefs. It is such a dreadful thought that a young girl with only passionate and pure intentions life was taken because of her beliefs. Anne was still able to keep this thought in her mind "In spite of everything, I still believe that people are really good at ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 2. Generalizations Made About the Franks by Muslims From the time, the Franks arrived in the Holy Land the native inhabitants started making many generalizations about them. Usama and his countryman believed many of these generalizations about the Franks. These generalizations came from stereotypes already held about the Christians. Usama and his countryman were able to build on to these generalizations from their own observations and interactions. "Usama generally indulged in the stereotypes about Franks that were already commonplace in his day – their lack of refinement, their low intelligence, their animal qualities and so on" (Usama, xxiii). Usama illustrates many of the generalizations about the Franks in his stories. How they had courage but were extremely cautious, how they tended to go back on their word, how they have no honor or propriety, are some of the stereotypes expressed through Usamas words. There is also evidence shown that Usama and his countrymen did not have these stereotypes about Franks who had become assimilated. Many of these generalizations came from the interactions the two groups had with each other and influenced by each group not understanding the other. Muslims placed a heavy influence on god; everything is possible by God's divine will. The Franks also were religious they started out this journey on a holy pilgrimage, but once they conquered the holy land they had to figure out a way to lead while they were the minority. The majority of the generalizations came from each group ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Informative Speech On Anne Frank Do you know what the Franks went through to keep themselves alive so they would not have to be seperated and killed? You will be learning them and about the schedule they had for when the could be loud or not. But, most of all you will learn about Anne Frank and her book too. First you will be learning about the schedule. The morning "ritual" is started by Mr.Hermann Van Pels getting up around 6:45 in the morning, then the others get up shortly after. From 8:30–9:00 no one must make a sound because that is when the warehouseman start arriving to work. The other workers, office employees, helpers, don't arrive until 9:00. Now the "nightly freedom". At 5:30 is when they get to have their nightly freedom as Anne says in her diary. Everybody working has gone home by then, but Bep Voskuijl asks if they are anymore groceries needed and then she goes home around 5:45. Then all the people hiding spread out to the office space downstairs. Later Auguste Van Pels and Edith Frank would announce supper was ready. Depending on when the radio is ... • 4. Anne Frank Thesis The Lose of an Innocent Life The diary of Anne Frank is different from other stories of WWII for the reason of it being a personal memoir from a young Jewish girl's perspective not intended for the public's view. "The Diary of a Young Girl" was written in the midsts of the second world war in which Jews were being prosecuted by the Nazis. In the beginning, Frank portrays a fairly normal life; She speaks of boys who "fall head over heels in love immediately,... and simply won't allow [her] out of [their] sight" ( Frank 5). She is very aware of the genocide of the Jews and her fear is evident throughout the novel. The Frank's are forced to accelerate their plans to go into hiding when a call up notice is mailed to Margot, Anne's sister. The... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In the past few months, Europe's Anti–Semitism exploded with random acts of violence toward the Jews. The main areas where tensions are rising include France, Brussels, and Germany. According to political leaders and journalists, a more powerful anti–semitic movement is becoming popular due to pro–palestinian protesters and right–wings. Although many citizens are tolerant of Jews, the movement is gaining followers. Acts such as the destruction of Jewish–owned shops, protesters yelling "Death to Jews!" and "Gas the Jews!", Jews being shot and assaulted, and the bombing of a synagogue all in France makes the Jewish there weary and many have asked "whether [Europe] remains a safe place for Jews" (Yardley 3). Like the Franks, many Jews are moving while they still can, often to Israel; in fact, "Israeli officials predict that as many as 6,000 Jews will migrate from France this year (Yardley 22). This huge outflux of people from high tension areas parallels the Jewish during the Holocaust who moved before tensions became too high in order to be safe. • 5. The Coming Of Christianity And The Kingdom Of The Franks The coming of Christianity to the kingdom of the Franks was likely the greatest shift of Frankish ideology, going from the traditional pagan culture to the most powerful political and military system in Western Europe famously rooted in biblical truths during the medieval period. With Christianity being the foundation of the kingdom, both royals or peasants, clergy or laymen, and Christians and pagans were to become subject the teachings of the Holy Scriptures and the establishment of the Church. Whether a king or bishop, those within the influence of the Frankish kingdom were to uphold and protect the religious orthodox and defer all who rejected it. The Frankish ideology, rather than consistently changing, was more so a series of developments that both maintained the traditional values of the early church and strengthened the expectations of the church based on the conflicts of what was considered truth or heresy. The rise of the Carolingians marked a major turning point for Frankish kingship that altered the justification of authority from ancestral ties to divine acceptance. Before the Carolingian dynasty began, the Merovingian dynasty ruled the Franks starting in the mid fifth century. As a dynasty, the Merovingian rule foundationally stood upon the leadership of the royal family, in that no one outside of the family could be at the head of the kingdom. However, the position of the mayor of the palace had many responsibilities and other official daily tasks that ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Frank Sinatra Francis Albert "Frank" Sinatra was born on December 12, 1915, in Hoboken, New Jersey. The only child of Sicilian immigrants, a teenaged Sinatra decided to become a singer after watching Bing Crosby perform in the mid–1930s. He'd already been a member of the glee club in his high school and began to sing at local nightclubs. Radio exposure brought him to the attention of bandleader Harry James, with whom Sinatra made his first recordings, including "All or Nothing at All." In 1940, Tommy Dorsey invited Sinatra to join his band. After two years of chart –topping success with Dorsey, Sinatra decided to strike out on his own. Solo Artist Between 1943 and 1946, Sinatra's solo career blossomed as the singer charted a slew of hit singles. The mobs of bobby–soxer fans Sinatra attracted with his dreamy baritone earned him such nicknames as "The Voice" and "The Sultan of Swoon." "It was the war years, and there was a great loneliness," recalled Sinatra, who was unfit for military service due to a punctured eardrum. "I was the boy in every corner drugstore who'd gone off, drafted to the war. That was all." Sinatra made his movie acting debut in 1943 with the films Reveille With Beverley and Higher and Higher. In 1945, he won a special Academy Award for The House I Live In, a 10 –minute short made to promote racial and religious tolerance on the home front.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 7. Anne Frank Essay Introduction: Have you ever had a hard time in your life? The Holocaust was a very tough time for the Jews, they were forced to either find a place to stay or they would get sent off to concentration camp, which was leading to their last breath. Anne Frank and her family, had to stay in an annex to try to stay away from the Nazi's because they were Jewish. They had to be really quiet during the day or they would be heard from down below. However, there is one special girl that handled it very well. Anne Frank once said, " In spite of everything, I still believe people are really good at heart." Throughout all the obstacles that Anne and her family have faced, she is always looking for the good in people. After reading the diary, I have come to a decision. Anne's quote really said a lot about her and others around her. I am agreeing with Anne's powerful quote. The others that were in hiding with Anne really had to persevere and help each other out. When I read the diary I saw that the most caring person was Miep. She always helped them when they needed something outside of the annex, but I can still see how people think that people during those days were not very good at heart. I think Mr Van Daan seemed a little rude and selfish about others. My Side: After I saw many acts of kindness, throughout the play, based off of Anne's diary, I was persuaded to agree with her quote that everyone is good at heart. The character that stood out the most to me was Miep. She showed me at the beginning of the book when they all moved into the annex. On page 8, the dialogue goes on to say, Narrator: (indicating the sink cupboard) Miep: We put the stores of food you sent in here. Narrator:( She crosses to the shelves.) Miep: Your drugs are here– soap, linen, here. Mrs. Frank: Thank you, Miep. Miep: I made up the beds – the way Mr Frank and Mr Kraler said. Forgive me. I have to hurry. I've got to go to the other side of town to get some ration books for you. During this scene, the Franks and the Van Daans had just moved into hiding and were trying to settled in quickly. They knew that they were lacking on the materials that they needed. Mr Frank thought about his workers that weren't Jewish, then he said Miep. Miep was ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 8. Frank Sinatra FRANK SINATRA, holding a glass of bourbon in one hand and a cigarette in the other, stood in a dark corner of the bar between two attractive but fading blondes who sat waiting for him to say something. But he said nothing; he had been silent during much of the evening, except now in this private club in Beverly Hills he seemed even more distant, staring out through the smoke and semidarkness into a large room beyond the bar where dozens of young couples sat huddled around small tables or twisted in the center of the floor to the clamorous clang of folk–rock music blaring from the stereo. Sinatra's intonation, precisely clipped, yet full and flowing, gave a deeper meaning to the simple lyrics –– "In the wee small hours of the morning /while the whole wide world is fast asleep/you lie awake, and think about the girl...." –– it was like so many of his classics, a song that evoked loneliness and sensuality, and when blended with the dim light and the alcohol and nicotine and late–night needs, it became a kind of airy aphrodisiac. Undoubtedly the words from this song, and others like it, had put millions in the mood, it was music to make love by, and doubtless much love had been made by it all over America at night in cars, while the batteries burned down, in cottages by the lake, on beaches during balmy summer evenings, in secluded parks and exclusive penthouses and furnished rooms, in cabin cruisers and cabs and cabanas –– in all places where Sinatra's songs could be heard were these words that warmed women, wooed and won them, snipped the final thread of inhibition and gratified the male egos of ungrateful lovers; two generations of men had been the beneficiaries of such ballads, for which they were eternally in his debt, for which they may eternally hate him. Pepin and his brother together ruled the Franks, whose kingdom included parts of present–day France, Belgium, Germany, and the Netherlands. Upon Pepin 's death in 768, Charlemagne and his brother Carloman inherited the kingdom. When Carloman died three years later, Charlemagne became the sole ruler. Charlemagne, also known as Charles the great was a ruler in times of turmoil in Europe during the middle ages. Charlemagne came from a powerful family tree which made a huge impact on why he rose to power. His family history and their backgrounds is what prepared him to take on the task of becoming King of the Frankish Empire and protecting it from intruders. Charlemagne accomplished much during his reign. He focused on bringing education back into medieval Europe but, also discovered a more efficient way to govern his people. His conquests against the adversaries of the Holy Roman Empire is what lead to his expansion and spreading his Empire across most of Europe which he eventually established the Carolingian Empire in the later years of his supremacy. This also led to strong relationships with the Catholic Church and the State. Charlemagne's goal was to spread Christianity throughout all of Europe and was willing to fight for his religion. Anne Frank: The Play, The Franks And The Van Daan In the events leading up to the rise of the Nazis and the genocide of approximately six million Jews, two Jewish families and an elderly dentist go into hiding to try to survive persecution. In Anne Frank: The Play, the Franks and the Van Daan's, along with Mr. Dussel, hide for two years in the Secret Annex, which was essentially an attic, before being found by the Nazis. Otto Frank, the father, and husband of the Frank family was an exceptionally intelligent, humble, and sanguine man. He was determined and hopeful to keep his family and friends alive. As the play progresses, Mr. Frank changes from an optimistic man to a forlorn, pessimistic person. Understandably, under severe circumstances, even the most resilient person can change. In the play, Mr. Frank is shown to be a person who can be relied on to give a great deal of support and comfort for the group throughout the two years of confinement. • 12. Anne Frank And The Holocaust Anne Frank, a famous victim of the Holocaust said this "How wonderful it is that nobody need wait a single moment before starting to improve the world." Anne Frank was once a free woman in this world. She didn't have to go into hiding, fear getting caught, or worse, possibly dying. Anne Frank, a girl who survived partially of World War Two, was born in Frankfurt, Germany June 12, 1929. After the Nazis took power in 1933, the Franks moved to Amsterdam. Unfortunately, things took an outrageous turn for the worst. Since being Jews, the Frank family would have to go to a horrible place, known as concentration camps. Later on, a law was passed and all Jews had to register themselves in. That registry was for the Nazis to find out were the Jews lived. The following spring, the Nazis yet had passed another law. The law stated that all Jewish people had to put a yellow star on their clothing that said "Jood" on it. Soon after, Jewish families were being called up to go to transit camps. From the transit camps they would go to Concentration camps. To overcome that, the Frank Family went into hiding. The German invasion of the Nazis started on May 10, 1940. A year later in 1941, the Franks had started making tactics and preparations to go into hiding, before the Nazis would eventually reach them. With the help of Otto Frank, Anne's dad and his colleagues at the Opteka Company, Otto was able to prepare a hiding place for his family. Finally, the day had come. July, 1942, they had moved into the hiding place, called the Secret Annex. The Franks,Van Pels, and other occupants of the hiding place hid in a secret attic apartment on 263 Prinsengracht Street. Before the Franks, and Van Pels got there, colleagues by the names of Johannes Kleiman, Victor Kugler , Jan Gies, and Miep Gies, had helped set up the hiding place by smuggling food, and gathering clothing. As read in the last paragraph, Anne Frank and her family went into hiding. They also stayed with other Jews. Later on in the year, a man by the name of Fritz Pfeffer had moved into the Annex. He stayed in Anne's room while Anne's sister, Margot stayed with her mother and father. During their stay, Anne had gotten a diary earlier in the year from her father on ... From the start of the theme song, it provides a mysterious mood that entices the viewer to want to keep watching. Beau Willimon creatively includes many elements into this work to add depth into the story line. He has a list of characters that vary greatly in terms of personality and morale. The most significant difference in character is between Frank Underwood and Peter Russo. Frank lives off the rush of the chance of becoming more successful than he already is while Peter is not particularly interested in a title. Even when Frank has more power, he is not concerned with helping people while Peter is in a lower position trying to save the jobs of his friends. Willimon skillfully includes symbols in his work. Specifically in chapter 11, he portrays Zoe as a younger version of Claire, uses Claire's dress as a representation of Frank's personality, and utilizes the chess board to reflect Frank's plan. These objects allow the viewer to connect with the writer on an intellectual level and it makes the story more interesting. Willimon ingeniously carries out the foreshadowing from chapter 1 in chapter 11. It was bold of him to start with show with such a strange intro but it all made sense when Frank kills Peter. Overall, the show displayed a fine storyline and it gave an insight of the corruption in politics. • 16. The Diary Of Anne Frank Anne's Relation to Modern Music A multitude of people nowadays choose their favorite songs because of how they sound and the attractiveness of the singer. However, some people select their favorite songs because of its appeal by relating to their personalities and feelings. Just as songs can relate to people, they can express countless similarities with stories as well. When it comes to the story, The Diary of Anne Frank, there are a variety of characters and events that songs can relate to. The songs "Chocolate Rain", "The Last Goodbye", and "Lost Cities", verbalize numerous commonalities with The Diary of Anne Frank. Expressing the discrimination African Americans faced, "Chocolate Rain" relates to the Diary of Anne Frank because they both display the unfair treatment of a type of person. A verse within this song reads, "Say it publicly, and you're insane," refers to the ill treatment the Africans faced, but can just as well relate to the Jews. Particularly, while under persecution from the Nazis, the Jews' political and moral beliefs were disregarded by everyone around them. Additionally, this lyric can also relate to how Anne acts with adults. An example of this occurs within the first scene of the second act when Anne says, "What's the good of that? What's the good of thinking of misery when you're already miserable? That's stupid!" Oftenly, the adults will see these thoughts as insane and respond as Mr. Van Daan does, "She talks as if we started the war! Did we start ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Diary Of Alne Frank And The Diary Of Anne Frank The Outsiders is a novel about a fourteen–year gang member Ponyboy, who lives in Tulsa, Oklahoma, and his struggles as a greaser and his relationship with his brother. The Diary Of Anne Frank play is a fictional adaptation about the life of Anne Frank in the Secret Annex during World War II. Both texts illustrate the theme that people become more mature after experiencing and going through a difficult time. The Diary of Anne Frank shows the changes in behavior and maturity for the main character, Anne, as she stays in the annex for two years. In Act I, Anne was more energetic and playful as a thirteen–year–old. Act I Scene 3 highlights Anne's playful and clumsy behavior by talking about her pranks. On page 552, it states "Anne: Who cares if it's dignified? I don't want to be dignified. Mrs. Frank: [To Anne] You complain that I don't treat you like a grownup. But when I do, you resent it" (Goodrich and Hackett 552). This shows that Anne is not ready to be treated like an adult. She dislikes when her mother expects her to be mature and she has a teenage mentality. She does not care that her behavior is not dignified and mature. She wants to have fun and frolic, much like what a child would want. Therefore, in the beginning of Act I, Anne acts childish and immature. However, in Scene 4 of Act II, it mentions how Anne has matured. "She is no longer a child, but a woman with courage to meet whatever lies ahead" (634). The borderline between Saxons and Franks was very vague, "except in a few places, where large forests or mountain ridges intervened and made the bounds certain, the line between ourselves and the Saxons passed almost in its whole extent through an open country" (Einhard, 2013); murders, robbery and arson were a daily routine. In order to stop that Charlemagne waged the first war against Saxons in 772. During this period, Charlemagne made attempts in bringing Christianity to Saxons and finally got them "destroyed as a culture, and they would never again rebel." (Knox, 1999). He did it not only with fire and sword, but also with violent and culture–destroying set of laws called Capitulary of Saxony. Charlemagne tried hard to integrate Saxons into his empire. However, at that time, integration always meant the destruction of the old ways. During the first campaign in 772, Charlemagne captured the castle of Eresburg and destroyed the holy site of Irminsul. Consequently, Charlemagne received the submission of local chiefs, but they "quickly ignored their oaths to receive missionaries and to send tribute payments to the Christian king" (Knox, 1999). He was noted down in history as King of the Franks, a Germanic–speaking people who invaded western Rome residing in current day Germany, the King of the Lombards, Germanic people who resided in parts of the Italian peninsula, and finally was the first Holy Roman Emperor. Another name that has been bestowed upon Charlemagne was the title "Father of Europe". Due to the Carolingian empire 's rule, Charlemagne was able to unite nearly all of western Europe. The last empire to do so was the Roman Empire and no other country would unite Europe until the eighteen hundred under Napoleon. Charlemagne's father was named Pepin the Short, a name that deceives most on the battlefield due to his incredible and unmatched strength. Pepin the Short was the predecessor to Charlemagne as the king of the Franks. Pepin also helped set up the Carolingian dynasty but did not peak its power until the crowning of Charlemagne. • 39. The King Of The Franks Essay Sabrina Fearon History 8G 4/14/16 "Some are born great, some achieve greatness, and some have greatness thrust upon them." William Shakespeare Do you agree/disagree/partially agree that Charlemagne was an example of all three? Clovis, king of the Franks, established the Merovingian Empire in 481. Then, in 511, he split his empire between his four sons. The kings in the Merovingian line continued to hand down their thrones to their later generations, which slowly started to make them weak. This was because they were using nepotism instead of giving positions based on merit. So, after time, positions called Mayors of the Palace were formed. Mayors of the Palace, according to the dictionary, were people "of a line of hereditary administrative lieutenants to the Merovingian kings who eventually took over royal function and title in the Frankish kingdoms". Over time, the descendants of Clovis became to be known as "Do–Nothing kings", because they relied on the Mayors of the Palace to do work. The "Do–Nothing kings began to have virtually no power, but they still held on to their title as king. One of the most famous Mayors of the Palace was Charles Martel. His son, Pepin became the Frankish king. Pepin's son was Charlemagne. • 40. Annene Frank And The Story Of Anne Frank Books or stories affect people in different ways, many of them being happy because everyone lives happily ever after. Very rarely do I get affected by books, and the Story of Anne Frank is one of them. This poor Jewish girl, has to hide away with seven other people, three of them being her actual family members. Mrs Vandaan was one of the many people living in that annex. In some way shape or form I connected with this character on an emotional level. She showed me that there is more to life than buying the most expensive clothing, and how to care for people. Just as she cared for her husband and son. When Anne dropped milk on her fur coat, it showed me that I should forgive, even if it seems like it could never be forgiven. Even if it was a coat from my father. Anne's life became the opposite of a "normal kids" life, when she had to go into hiding. This I find cruel and unfair, she should be able to go play outside and hang out with friends. Yet she can't, and it's all because of a religion. When she's in this annex she is getting skinnier and skinnier by the day because they have so many people, and not a surplus of food. This cruel, for this girl and her family to have to go through this. It makes me even more upset because of my german heritage. World War 2 was caused because of Hitler and his desire to make the perfect race. This meant getting rid of the Jews, why this group of people I don't know, but it's still unfair.
