2. From my audience research when conducting the research and
planning stages of my magazine which was an indie magazine. I
learnt that my project audience was male and female from the ages
16/17-25. I feel this age range is appropriate as this is where the indie
scene is doing its best. The age 16 is around about the age of maturity
and 25 is about the age when most people finish university and
college courses meaning they may start to settle down and care less
for a magazine of this genre. The type of people would be big festival
followers who love festivals like latitude and Leeds. They have a love
for young exuberant upcoming bands and solo artists and care much
less for mainstream acts. The sale type may differ from each monthly
issue as the cover feature will appeal to different people each issue as
I want to create variation in the magazine to keep it new and
interesting. An example of this would be if I featured a male cover
more males may choose to purchase the issue, also the same for
females. The audience will be knowledgeable music fans and festival
attenders. Also heavy into social media websites like Instagram and
tumblr.
3. The genre of my magazine and music will fit the indie scene, this
means the magazine will focus on the crowd that are far more
outgoing and stand out from the crowd. The clothing that they adopt
will be different and unusual in some cases. I see that the market I am
producing this magazine into is a growing one but also there seems to
be a lack of indie magazines which will be perfect as my magazine
would have restricted competition and would be able to set its own
bench marks and goals. But this could also benefit my magazine as
they will have a lot of produce to choose from when choosing artists
as many of the indie artists have not been cover features, again
helping keep my magazine different and new which will intise my
audience greater. My magazine is priced at ÂŁ3.00, whereas the closest
thing to a rival magazine loud and quiet is free. I chose to price my
magazine at this rice as I had conducted an audience survey as they
thought that would be a reasonable price that they would be prepared
to spend on my magazine.
4. When designing the double page spread and contents of my
magazine I had to be very mindful of the conventions that are
associated within this genre. The inspiration I took for my
pages were from i-D and clash magazine most prominently. I
made sure that my cover and double page spread feature was
modelled appropriately with correct clothing, lighting and
settings. The clothing of my artist fits the genre perfectly
through use of smart shirts and skinny jeans. I have also
modelled him in many different caps again targeting a more
urban indie audience for this particular audience. The overall
style of my magazine is generally simplistic as I sought
inspiration form many other magazines such as others
produced from old coursework candidates, of the same genre
of course.
5. The following two audience profiles have a large indie
appearance and fit a lot of my audience research. They are both
potential consumers of Combust magazine. I also asked them
the following questions regarding my new magazine which is
soon to be released onto the market;
 Would you be willing to purchase a new magazine that has
just entered the market?
 How much would you be willing to pay for this magazine?
 What artists would you be interested in featuring in this
magazine?
6.  Would you be willing to purchase a new magazine that has just
entered the market?
“Yeah dude, I’ll try anything new, I’m getting a bit bored of loud and
quite at the minute anyway, so yeah that would be cool”.
 How much would you be willing to pay for this magazine?
“I don’t know how much have I got on me? Like £3 I guess”
 What artists would you be interested in featuring in this
magazine?
“Definitely some upcoming stuff, I kind of like being surprised and
finding out stuff about people I don’t really know about, so”.
7.  Would you be willing to purchase a new magazine that has just
entered the market?
“Yeah probably but defiantly depends on if the cover interests me
enough I guess”
 How much would you be willing to pay for this magazine?
“Well I’ve been paying for clash for last few issues so about £2.50 or
something”
 What artists would you be interested in featuring in this
magazine?
“Some of the catfish and Dan Croll I like them but apart from that
really not too picky.”
