Representation of my media product
In my original photography, I asked fellow
students to take pictures of me in which I used
for my magazine. I was wearing outgoing
clothes such as black skinny jeans, a black
blazer/cardigan and a green patterned shirt
along with black canvas shoes. For my front
cover of the magazine, I posed with my hands
in my back pocket looking towards my left. This
photo was taken in a classroom in which they
places a large, plain material across one side of
a wall in which I stood in front of to have photos
taken.
My magazine represents gender and age
throughout the image. The image on the right is
final product after I edited it on Adobe Photoshop.
The image shows a young male posing as such of a laid-
back, chilling and cool pose. The male is a very confident and
independent looking person in which shows power in the
magazine. These are what a lot of the people would look up to
and would what to be in their life. The pose of him looking up
could mean that he is still looking to be at the top and how he
isn’t looking at the camera shows that he may not care much
about the publicity.
The image is represented to seem true as it is hitting conventions of how
hip hop/rap male are represented in the magazines, as he is a well-built
looking man with exceptional posture, he shows great confidence in which
people love about people, he is also wearing a semi-formal attire in which
the majority of male, in the magazine front cover, wear. However he breaks
some conventionsas he is wearing skinny jeans in which is not what standard
male artists wear for magazine front cover.
My representation is targeted at male, roughly 16 – 25 years old, I know
this simply because the model represents how the majority of the male
population would like to look like in which they would look up to the model

and probably aim to be just like him. This follows the conventions of the
Antonio Gramsci’s theory of Hegemony.
Hip hop/Rap is a genre mostly listened to by young to 25+ years old
male in which the size of this population is massive and is probably still
increasing, a male audience is the dominant group of people in the
audience in which I am aiming my magazine towards them. This image
represents the interest of those men in which is potentially money, cars and
attractive female.
