This document discusses research into improving the power generation of horizontal axis wind turbines through the use of a shroud. It first presents the background research and numerical analysis conducted to optimize shroud design parameters like area ratio and length. Experimental testing was then done on scaled turbine models with and without an optimized shroud. The results showed that the shrouded turbine produced higher power efficiency than the unshrouded turbine at the same wind velocities, due to the increased airflow velocities produced by the shroud. Overall, the research demonstrates that shrouds have potential to improve wind turbine performance and efficiency.
