2. Intro
You will have to deliver a 5 minute pitch for your social
action PIF, which sells your idea to the audience.
3. Pitch Structure
Your pitch should be in 3 distinct parts:
1. A short introduction about the context (what
issue you will be producing a PIF for).
2. Your research (what you found out about the
issue)
3. Your PIF idea (how you will persuade the
audience to think about the issue).
4. How do you get good marks?
ď‚— Present the results of your research in some depth,
explaining
ď‚— what information you discovered about the issue (and how
reliable you think this is).
ď‚— Notable sources of information about your issue (eg.
MENCAP, Smoke-Free etc…) and what you’ve learnt from
them.
 Existing PIF’s or promotional videos about the issue, and
what impact they’ve had on your plans (market research)
ď‚— Who your specific target audience is (and how you know
this).
ď‚— How the research has influenced your creative ideas
ď‚— Location research (where will you film, what permissions do
you need etc…)
5. How do you get good marks?
ď‚— Pitch your idea with flair and impact
ď‚— Explain your creative idea in 50 words or less (this is
your PIF’s logline). If you can clearly explain your idea in
a punchy, short, engaging way then the audience will
understand what you’re trying to do.
 Be excited when presenting your idea: if you’re not
excited, no-one else will be. Think about tone of voice,
body language, eye contact.
ď‚— Use a powerpoint to back you up and to set the scene:
use music and images to set the tone for your PIF.
 don’t use too much text on your powerpoint.
