 Conduct detailed Research for your social action
production.
 Feedback your research to the class in a
presentation, pitching your idea.
 Plan your video or radio show
 Film & edit it / record & edit it.
 Get feedback on its effectiveness and write an
evaluation
TASK 1
 Working alone brainstorm ideas for different social
action videos
Task 2
 Pick 1 idea and develop it, thinking about:
 Its purpose
 What techniques you could use
 Start writing a rough treatment of your idea,
thinking about your videos ‘story’ from start to end.
Task 3
 Research sits at the heart of any factual
programme. Begin to conduct research for
your social action production:
 Creative: conduct detailed secondary research
into your issue / charity / community group.
 Audience : who will watch your programme? How
do you know this? Conduct detailed primary
research to find out more.
 Market: Investigate similar videos or community
radio programmes (at least 3), reviewing them and
identifying what you can learn from their strengths
and weaknesses.
 Production: Who can you film? How can you
contact them? Where can you film? What
permissions do you need? What can you film?
Provide detailed research showing how you are
finding the answers to these questions.
Task 3
 Record your findings in a
document with the links and detailed
notes on
 (1) what you’ve learnt.
 (2) how you will use what you’ve learnt in your
social action production.
 (3) how reliable you think the source is.
 This will be your research
portfolio, and you will be graded
on how detailed, useful and well
sourced it is.

Conduct detailed primary research to find out more.  Market: Investigate similar videos or community radio programmes (at least 3), reviewing them and identifying what you can learn from their strengths and weaknesses.  Production: Who can you film? How can you contact them? Where can you film? What permissions do you need? What can you film? Provide detailed research showing how you are finding the answers to these questions.

Task 3  Record your findings in a document with the links and detailed notes on  (1) what you’ve learnt.  (2) how you will use what you’ve learnt in your social action production.  (3) how reliable you think the source is.  This will be your research portfolio, and you will be graded on how detailed, useful and well sourced it is.
