1. Music video research
In this presentation, I will be explaining the three song choices
I have for a music video.
2. Arctic Monkeys – Do I Wanna Know
I have chosen this song because I think the song itself gives many
potential ideas for narratives in the music video, for example I would give
the video a old fashion look to match the musical style, being slow paced
and having a romantic theme. I also think the colour should be in black
and white to emphasize the look and feel of the video being looking 60’s
and old fashion.
This is a slow song which should make the lip syncing very easy and is
also lyrically suitable for BTEC media which makes it a good choice for a
music video.
3. Oasis - Songbird
My second choice for a music video is songbird because its an upbeat and
vibrant song.
I think it would be a simpler music video to create because it slow to
medium paced which will make lip syncing easy and is only two minutes
long. This song is suitable for BTEC media.
The narrative would be a man with his guitar sitting somewhere (under a
tree, on a park bench etc.) telling the story of the ‘songbird’ which will cut in
between shots of him to a narrative about a couple.
For the visual style, I would make the music video bright and colorful to
emphasize the lyrics.
4. Kings of Leon - Supersoaker
My third choice for a music video is supersoaker, which is
slow to medium paced which would be easy for lip
syncing. This song would be suitable for BTEC media
because it has no explicit lyrics.
However, I think it would be harder than the others to
find a good narrative for this song because of the songs
theme.
If I were to make this video I would make the colour
bright and colourful to match the song being very
upbeat.
5. In conclusion, I think ‘Do I wanna know’ will be the best song choice for a
BTEC media music video because I have stronger ideas on how to create that
video rather than the others.
