1. Possible Ideas
I See Fire by Ed Sheeran, Clouds by Newton Faulkner,
Summer of 69 by Bryan Adams
2. I See Fire by Ed
Sheeran
• I want to do this song because I think it has a
great acoustic tune and strong lyrics. It is
played at the end of one of the hobbit movies
and I have loved the song ever since then.
• For the music video I aim to do a narrative
style of video combined with a performance.
• In the video I will show the singers walking
across a post apocalyptic world (hence I see
fire) combined with videos of him singing and
playing the guitar. I will use special effects in
order to create smoke, flames and other
effects around the scenes and characters in
order to keep with the fire theme.
3. Location
I would have the location to be woods and other desolate locations like an empty building
and streets in order to make the video look more isolated. In order to make the streets more
interesting I will use special effects in order to create crashed and/ or burning cars on the
side of the road. I will have the performance in a small empty studio like the dark drama
studio. I aim to have a very small amount of actors and props in order to make it easy to
organise so I can spend lots of time on the CGI editing.
4. I will stick to Goodwin’s ideas of applying the visuals to the
lyrics as you can actually see the fire, this works as well for the
music and the visuals. I will have lots of close ups of the artist
and may include intertextual references to news feeds on war
and the internet.
The music genre is a folky pop, music videos for this are often
based outdoors and include a lot of nature. I will keep to this
but with a slight twist as it provides a negative feel opposed to
the more common positive feeling that folk videos create.

5. Clouds by Newton
Faulkner
• I want to do this song because it has a
very summer like theme and is one of
my favourite songs because of its folky
style
• For the music video I would love to a
performance and narrative again, an
issue with performance however is that
it would be tricky for people to learn on
guitar.
• My main idea of the video is to have
someone playing the guitar in the
middle of a field with a time-lapse of
clouds going over their head as they
sing/ play as I think it would be very
unique and interesting.
6. Location
My location would be a big open field by the back of my house as it is very accessible and
provides a good open view of the sky.
In doing this I will have stuck to a number of the Goodwin 7 as I would show the artist lots
and have a link between the lyrics, song and video.
7. Summer of 69 by
Bryan Adams
• I want to do this song because it has a very
rocky feel due to its intro and has very catchy
lyrics. To add to this, it sounds like it would be
an easy song to learn and play so wont take a
lot of time out of the actors.
• For the video, like the others, I would have a
performance mixed with narrative.
• My idea for the video is to have a group of
people (3-4) who are around the age of 30+
playing the song either in a music studio or
outside. Throughout this performance there
will be flash backs in a sepia or black an white
colour to their summer of 69 where there will
be younger people messing about and playing
the same song in a similar place.
8. Location
My location is one of our friends music studios as it is easily accessible and means we don’t
have to spend lots of time transporting instruments. Or, in an open field or poly tunnel near
where I live as it has a more summery feel and therefore links with the lyrics.
The video fulfils Goodwin’s idea that the artist is shown in the video as I will include lots of
close ups of the band. It also fulfils the idea that the lyrics, music and video work together in
synch.
