Here is the rationale for my FMP for next year

1. Rationale
The topic I have chosen to look at for my essay is the
‘Coming of Age’ genre. I am going to analyse all the
important aspects of coming of age movies, including
how they relate and reach out to younger viewers. The
reason I have chosen to look at this genre because it is
one of, if not, my favourite genre of film. Coming of
age films can be beautiful when they are done properly
and can become classics that can be remembered for
years to come. (E.g. Stand by Me, The Breakfast Club,
Boyhood, etc.) I have also chosen this topic for my final
major project next year because it is something that I
have not done before and something that I want to do
in the future. I also believe it is one of the easiest
genres to do in terms of filming but challenging in
terms of storytelling and I wanted to put myself up to
that challenge to develop my storytelling skills, as well
as my filmmaking skills. I can learn how to do
cinematography in the film. The genre is also very
relatable to me as I am the kind of audience that a
coming of age film is aimed at, therefore the project is
more personal to me and I am more able to express
myself in terms of creativity and storytelling. I have
watched coming of age movies from when I was
younger and I have always seen it as a great form of
storytelling and presenting youth, and now it’s my turn
to make one.
