Alfie Pimblett plans to create an awareness video about knife crime in the UK for ages 16-21. He will make a 10-15 minute short film telling a fictional story inspired by real events of a teenager who carries a knife and faces consequences. Alfie will also design a movie poster to promote the film and bring awareness to the dangers of knife crime. Through research of other stories and using dark imagery in his mood board, Alfie aims to realistically portray this issue and potentially help at least one person.

was because I was inspired by another
persons video similar to mine, I did this by
researching and looking at other peoples

Gangs/knifes
A short fictional story about a
teenager who gets mixed up with a
gang and makes a choice that will
impact him forever. This story is about
a boy who ends up stabbed by his
own weapon for provoking his
attacker, he uses the knife for self
defence but he Is the only one that
ends up hurt.
Crime/awareness video
This will be a short awareness video, this
video will not be created for the viewers
own entertainment, it is simply to make
people aware that making certain choices
can change your whole life. I feel my
awareness video can help at least one
person who watches it. in my awareness video both the main characters live a
very dark lifestyle and have similar traits to an extent,
both are involved in gangs and carry out criminal acts.
The main character doesn’t feel like living the way he
does anymore because he feels like he's doing
something bad, given the way he has been manipulated
into thinking some things are okay to do he decides do
something which he thinks will let him escape.

Is there any repetition in the images you have collected? Repeated
colours/images styles/fonts/tone/mood
• In the images that I have collected I have used repeated image styles, they all have some sort of
dark tone to them and seem very dangerous. I have also used repeated colours because most of my
photos are set at night and there is mainly a crowd of people in the area. This will create a sense of
fear to my short film and get the characters interested. The tone and mood of my photos is very
dark and chilling, this is because my product focuses on knife crime in the UK and gangs of youths
take a big part in this.
How will your mood board influence your final product?
• My mood board will influence my final product by giving me some insight on how it would feel to
be involved in one of these situations involving a group of youths and potentially sharp objects, It
will help me to make a more realistic and convincing short film for my audience and a movie poster
to make people interested in watching my short film, the more people interested means more
people are aware, especially if they are not educated on this subject. I have chosen to include close
up pictures of people holding knives because I feel these type of shots will be important to capture
in order to make the audience feel a certain way to the film. I have also included pictures of people
wearing black – grey tracksuits because this is simply what this generations fashion sense is,
tracksuits are a main set of attire for street gangs, knife crime is most common in street gangs.

Current Idea
Concept The concept of my product is a short awareness film revolving around knife crime
and the trouble it can bring to the one who holds a knife, the reason why I have
chose to do a video about knife crime is because I feel it is a very big epidemic that
needs to come to an end. I will create my short film out of inspiration from
researching other peoples stories to make the audience see the reality on what
happens everyday. This is an awareness video and not meant for personal
entertainment as it can be took as a very sensitive subject.

crime in the UK is now a very serious and popular epidemic and it needs to be
controlled in some way. I have researched other peoples shared stories which involve
knifes to make it seem more realistic. My awareness video will be roughly be 10 – 15
minutes long.

To make my movie poster I will need Photoshop, I have access to this via college. I
will also need the actors I will be using in my short film to model in the movie poster.
I will create my poster during my college days. For my short film I have all the
required equipment, a camera, lighting, microphone and an editing software. I will
be filming and editing this short film outside of college.
Audience My target audience for this product would preferably be ages 16 – 21 this is because
most incidences including a sharp object have people who are in this age group
involved, knife crime is very popular with teenagers. Viewers below the age of 16+
may require an adult because of scenes that may be distressing and disturbing.

Discounted ideas Reasons for not choosing this
project
Movie Trailer.
The reason why I chose not to do a movie trailer was
because I have already done a trailer for my personal
project, I now want to show my skills and expand. I want
to give my self more of a challenging task. I chose not to
do this mainly because it was too simple and short, I am
more capable of widening my final product to a good
quality piece of work.
Album Cover.
The reason I chose not to create an album cover was
because I wanted to use a camera instead of just
Photoshop, I feel like my skills in Photoshop are not at a
point I'm most confident at whereas with a camera and a
video editing software I am. I work more efficiently with
a camera. Another reason why I chose not to do an
album cover was because music does not interest me as
much as videos do, I do not think I would have enjoyed
this as much as what I eventually chose to do. If I did the
album cover instead of my awareness video I would have
missed out on a great opportunity and a better grade.
