Working Title:
Remember
Audience:
My audience is going to be female between the ages of 16-24. My project will appeal
mainly to this person as the film’s main character is a girl and therefore it will be relatable.
This means that the audience may be more invested in her as a character if they could
understand how she feels. They will also be between the ages of 16-24, as the film will be
set around an 18 year old who is in some form of education. This again means that it is
relatable as people between the ages of 16-24 are more likely to be in education whether
it is school, college or university and therefore they will know what it is like to be that
character in some way. My film will be attractive to anyone who has a family as they can
appreciate what it is like to lose someone and therefore that is another aspect of my
audience. However it is not imperative that they have one to enjoy the film as that isn’t the
main focus, the main focus will be on the main character herself. The sexuality of the
audience is not important as there is no sexual content in my film and therefore it is not
relevant. This means that my audience could be heterosexual, homosexual or any other
sexuality and could still enjoy this film. In addition the social grade of this audience
shouldn’t be too important however the main character is of the social grade ABC1 and
therefore it may help the audience to relate to her if they are of the same social grade too.
This is because the character is from a lower middle/middle class family in the
countryside yet attends normal state school and so could be relatable to this whole class
of people more so than people of the C2DE class. The psychographic of the target
audience will mainly be ‘belongers’, this is because as the main character is living in a
village yet is educated in a small city it will be more relatable as these people tend to live
in a small city as well. Additionally as my film is about family and school community
feeling bereft it may appeal to them as well as they tend to respond to messages that are
family or community oriented too. Finally the gratification that my audience should get out
of this film would be entertainment, as even though it is a sad film, people still enjoy
those, as they are relatable and interesting.
Rationale (approx. 100 words)
I feel as though I have made major progress throughout the year as I started off with
mainly merits and a few distinctions in the first few rotations, to getting distinctions in
everything on the last print rotation. Before this year/course I had never used PhotoShop,
PremierPro, InDesign or Audition and I am now able to confidently and competently use
them to make successful products. I also feel like my ability to actually film has massively
improved as my video rotation film was much more successful than the advert I made for
Irn-Bru and therefore I am hoping that this film will be even better than my last as I have
an eve better knowledge of the equipment that I will be using. I am doing a short film
because making films is something that I actually want to do as a career in the future and
therefore being able to do this now is a fantastic opportunity for me to learn everything
that I can and learn from it myself. I would also like to do video in the second year and
hopefully study film at university and so to be able to do something that is completely up
to me and to be able to make a film with no major restrictions on my concept is a fantastic
opportunity.

Project Concept (approx. 200 words)
I am going to make a short film with the duration of about 5 minutes. A short synopsis of
the film would be that there is a girl from a village lives normal life; she goes to school,
has lessons and sits with her friends. But something isn’t right and when she sees a flyer
of a memorial for her she gets very confused and upset. Then when the bus drives
through her she has a flashback showing that this whole time she was actually dead,
showing little clues from throughout the day. She had died in an accident the day before
and she is now a ghost. I am going to have to research the different shots that I should
use throughout the film, as I will be filming in 3 to 4 location and they will therefore need a
different approach each time. I will also have to properly research how news programs
are shot and edited, as I will have one on in the background and I will be making it myself.
Evaluation (approx. 50 words)
I will be evaluating my work in multiple different ways, the main way will be at the end of
the project when my film is complete, and I will evaluate every aspect of it thoroughly to
decide how well it all went and if it was successful and professional. I will also be showing
it to my peers and my tutor and their advice may help me to evaluate it more as they will
have opinions on the finished product. I will also evaluate it each week in my weekly
reflection where I discuss what has gone well and why I have done it. This will help me to
work out what I need to keep doing and what I should change in my work and for the
following weeks. I will also keep a note each time I completely work, so on an almost daily
basis, so that I don’t forget anything that I need to change and so I can effectively
improve my work so that it it as good and professional as possible.
