WHO WOULD BETHE MAIN
TARGET AUDIENCE FORYOUR
MEDIA PRODUCT
By Aaron Gomez
TargetAudience
■ For our target audience we chose a
audience of 15-25+ years old, this mainly
due to the fact that this the largest
viewing age for the horror genre. Our
film also has elements of gore, violence
and blood and I think our film has the
right amount of violence for this age
group.
■ The zombie genre tends to have various
amounts of violence as it focuses on
survival and ending the zombie
apocalypse with violence or a cure.
Data Collection for
target audience
■ We asked a group of people if they were easily
scared and our results helped us determine that a
majority will say that they are easily scared this
meant that it wouldn’t be such a difficult task to
scare most people and so by being connoting to be
conventions of horror this would not be a difficult
task for us.
■ However, this showed us that the majority will get
scared it did not tell us what they got scared by,
without the true definition it made it difficult for us
to truly incorporate this data into our piece,
although giving us the fact that people are scared
easier than not scared at all it did not allow us to fully
determine our target audience.
Data collection for
target audience.
■ This data on the graph showed the genre
preference for the horror genre. It shows that
zombie and paranormal are the favourites of the
horror genre, this data helped us dictate our
choice in genre and so our piece mainly
incorporates the conventions of the zombie sub
genre.
■ By this data we knew that we needed to research
the conventions of a successful and horrifying
zombie film, this therefore helped us really
determine how we could attract those audiences
who love the zombie genre.
Conclusion
■ In conclusion our target audience we chose was mainly of the 15-25+ age and who had
a love for the zombie sub genre as this was the most popular genre as shown in our
data gathered.
■ We thought that our film hit our target audience as we had the stereotypical
conventions of the zombie genre that made it scary and so this helped us make our
film more terrifying and we knew that it would be scary as our data showed that a
majority are more likely to be scared that not to be.
