2. Who is your target audience in terms of age?
Why?
The target audience of my magazine would be young
adults ranging from the ages of 16 to 24. I have decided
to aim my magazine at this audience because they are
the most likely to take an interest in dance music and
clubbing; they can appreciate the hard work of the
artists and will be more interested to buy a magazine to
support them/find out more. This age group also tend to
be more interested in unsigned/less well-known acts.
3. Who is your target audience in terms of
gender? Why?
I have designed the magazine to be aimed at both
genders although it could be slightly modified to suit just
one. Dance/Electronic is not a genre which is often
associated with a single genre; the genre is about the
two genders coming together in club scenes and nights
out having fun. Current magazines centered around this
genre offer a multi-gender approach, for this reason the
colour scheme, layout and language have been chosen
with both genders in mind.
4. What is the profile of your audience? Why?
If I were to profile my typical Spark reader I would say: A
college/university student with an interest for raving and
clubbing to genres of music such as house, dubstep and
electronic. This person would would be very social, enjoy
spending time with friends at parties, festivals and gigs. I
assume they would take an interest in technology as well
as music, they would likely be a social network user
(Facebook/Twitter/Youtube), up to date with fashion (In
my vision they would shop at places like River Island &
Topman) but also liked to read in downtime.
