Task 8 – Audience Research and Audience Profiles

     My intended target audience is focused on both genders whom are
interested in the pop/chart genre music. Furthermore, my target audience
 range is between the ages of 16 to 23 and aims towards both genders due
    to my magazine being a unisex magazine. The majority of my target
  audience would be mainly from the ethnic background of British and the
 reason for this is because that’s where my magazine will be published. In
addition, in this task I will be researching into the stereotypical pop/chart
  music audiences which will then lead to the focus of my particular target
                                    audience.


   1. Stereotypical audience profile:
      Ed Sheeran:




Who mainly listens to this genre/type of music?
A wide range and variety of audience listen to this type of music,
furthermore, it targets both genders and a range of ages have an interest
him, his music, his lyrics and his style.

Gender: Male

Age: 21

Ethnicity: White British

Social Class: Working Class

Style: His dress sense seems to focus on the casual and laidback side which
could make him a role model for his audience if they don’t have a lot of
income to spend on expensive clothes, furthermore, this could represent
his lifestyle and it emphasises his personality.
Task 8 – Audience Research and Audience Profiles

Why audience listen to his music: The audience listen to his music because
it’s easily relatable due to him writing his own lyrics and his songs being
about events that have occurred in his life and what he has experienced.

Why Ed Sheeran listens to pop/chart music: Reasons as to why he listens to
pop/chart music is because it reflects on him as a person and he can
personally relate to them sort of songs as he is the same. In addition, these
aspects are some things in which the audience can easily relate to.

   2. My target audience profile:




Name:Ella Clayton.

Age: 16.

Ethnicity: White British.

Location: Lives in Shirley, Solihull.

Current Status: She is currently a student at Stratford College and is
studying four A levels.

Style& Interests: Ella has high interests in the fashion world and this is
shown through her choice of clothing which is modern, fashionable and of
the latest trends. Furthermore, she is extremely music based and has a
deep interest in her music which she listens to frequently and mostly on a
daily basis. In addition, she enjoys spending time with her friends, going to
parties and going to concerts.
Task 8 – Audience Research and Audience Profiles

Artists: Her favourite artists and bands include: Justin Bieber, Rita Ora,
Taylor Swift, Rihanna, The Script, Mumford And Sons. These artists and
bands represent the pop/chart/mainstream music genres which tend to be
her favourite types.

Ella’s opinion on music magazines: “I don’t currently tend to read music
magazines because there isn’t a specific one that appeal to me or include
specific elements which interest me. I’d like to see elements such as: gossip,
fashion, interviews, concert and gigs dates as well as a consistence of
fashionable and attractive images throughout.” –Additionally, this helped
with feedback of ideas of how I can create my magazine to target the right
audience.
