This proposal outlines a horror/comedy spoof film called KILL. The film aims to entertain viewers by bringing back an underrepresented genre and building on popular franchises like Saw and The Conjuring. It will tell an original story based on a local superstition involving a ghostly nun. The primary audience is 12-20 year olds of both genders who enjoy popular genres like horror and comedy. Some elements from research like poster designs will be incorporated. Potential legal issues around offensive content and copyright are considered, and steps like not overly featuring religious groups and making characters distinct from existing IPs are discussed to avoid issues.

4. FMP Proposal (2)
1. Proposal
1
Working Title:
KILL
What is it called? This can change if you think of something better later
Product’s Purpose:
My products purpose is to entertain the viewers that watch it and I will achieve this by
bringing back a genre that been missing for a while, and hopefully it will interest new
viewers. But also I hope it will bring back the viewersthat watched the scary movie
franchise and Shaun of the dead film, and entertain them as well.
What is the product’s purpose (entertain/educate etc.) and how will you achieve this?
Genre:
I picked Horror/Comedy spoof genre for my genre as film in my project. I think this will work
for me to bring out to the best of my ability in this project. I also think with it being the best
of my ability it will be entertaining for audiences and horror/spoof films don’t alwaysget
that much recognition with there not being that many released. I think it will be a interesting
balance of genres with it feeding in two different emotions laughing and getting scared.
What sort of product is it?
Content
My product will be a horror spoof film. I will be based on true superstition in Brewood
(location in Wolverhampton) where over 100 year ago there was this nun that was
reportedly sighted to be a ghost as whenever she looked at a nun that had black clothing
on she would change instantly into black clothing and whenever she saw a white clothed
nun, her clothing would go white. Some still to this day say they see the ghost. My film is
going to be spoof based off that using the nun character as Valek (the nun from the
conjuring franchise) and will be based almost on real life events. My name is George in the
film, I’ll be doing a movie project and it’ll be me making a jigsaw film for my FMP. In a
similar type of way to the Blair witch project, disastrous events start to unfold where the
films that we are making are becoming reality.
What is your product about? Discuss what you would put in it (be specific). Does it have a story? If
so, discuss it here
Research & Planning
Yes there were a few elementsthat I had included in my research and planning which I later
will use for my final production, like the Halloween (2018) poster where Michael Myers eyes
are covered in darkness but once you turn up the brightness up you can see his eyes and I
knew that this was a cool Easter egg that I wanted to include. I have also include d character
posters in a similar way that the saw (2004) posters did, with each letter being spelt out on
each poster. I thought this was a really intriguing idea and I knew that my title would have
to be short once I had thought of it. At that point I knew the poster need to be dirty and
grungy to give it that horror element but in order for it to be a comedy it needed to have
something funny on it for that comedy element to come through.
Where will you use elements of your research and planning to influence and inform your final idea
(be specific to certain parts)
Audience:
Primary audience: 12-20 years old (Male and Females)
Secondary audience: 20-39 years old (Male)
Appeal:
The main reason I have put both genders into the age between 12-20 years as my primary audience is
because this is around the age when they exposed to that stuff and their parents might let them see it
because they are at the right age. Its also around this age when stereotypically such films genres
such as spoof films are considered funny, and rise in popularity and this is a very important thing for
someone who is becoming a teenage or is a teenager, they want to be popular.
2. Proposal
2
For my secondary audience I have put just Males in-between the ages of 20 -39 years old because this
is stereotypically the type of films Men would want to watch. Because there are two genres that men
like watching which horror and comedy so when it’s a film where they are both mashed together then
it can be aimed well for women. Past the age of 20 however they aren’t being exposed to anything
new that they haven’t seen before unlike the primary audience, so to them it would just be another
spoof film.
Psychographics:
With psychographics I think that this aimed upon belonger because the film will be aimed at people
that have seen horror films and with the stereotypical action of someone falling over when running
away from someone will be added in a very humorous way.
Social status:
Lastly for my social status this film will be aimed at balanced as people will have a different amount of
balanced reviews on whether they like the film or not. With some people they might find it to be too
silly and some people might find it funny. Some people might even be scaredof it because they are
scaredof the characters that have been shown in the film.
Who is your audience? Be very detailed; age, gender, social status, psychographic etc
Why would your project appeal to this person?
Legal & Ethical Considerations:
I would advise and restrict younger people from watching it, but that doesn’t necessarily
mean people that I would stop anyone that’s younger than 12 to not watch this film.
Officially it’s classified as a 12 but that’s doesn’t mean that people that are under that age
wont watch the film. I will try not to offend any social groups such as the nuns in these
films, by including nothing offensive to them or what they believe in. Nuns aren’t often in
comedy films so I will have go steady and not include them so much in the trailer. For this
film I will also be using similar characters such as Valek from the conjuring franchise and
jigsaw from the saw franchise. I also will be using an original true superstition to be based
around my storyline. With jigsaw he’s going to be the same but with Valek that is going to
be the nun that’s in the superstitious story and will be called something else.
When thinking upon my ASA codes (advertising standards authority) I may have broken a
few rules, which can be fixed. I haven’t broken the first rule of ASA, which is compliance, as
everything, which will be in my products, has been considered trueful. With the second law
I am going to advertise my products in a sufficient way and will promote my posters to look
like they are there for advertising along with my other products that I have made in my
production. The third rule of ASA is for your product not to be considered to be misleading
and cannot lie about the product which I haven’t done. The fourth law is harm and offence
which I have talked about above with it might be offensive to any social groups such as any
nuns out there and might be deemed offensive to anyone in production of the original Valek
characters as I am using there creation. I have also done same with the saw franchise I am
using Billy the puppet and for copyright reasons that can be deemed as offensive. The fifth
law is children, which means promoting anything dangerous to children and pressuring
them into buying your products. I have also not broken this law as I have promoted. The
last law I haven’t broken either with privacy been considered for this film with there being
no real actors or actresses being shown in my film.
Think about any offensive material you will include?
Will you restrict younger people using/accessing it?
Will it offend any social groups/religions/ethnicities?
How will you ensure you do not offend anyone?
Are you using characters/names/logos of existing products/IPs?
Are you going against any of the ASA codes?
Will you product be sufficiently different from existing products to not get sued for copyright
infringement?
