1. Evaluation
What was my initial concept for my final project and what
were the reasons behind my choices?
2. What was my initial concept for my final
Project and the reason behind my choice?
I knew from when we first started writing up our proposals that I
wanted to do another short film for my final project. Last year, I
created a short film called Dream Of A Baller. I decided that I was
going to create a part 2 for the film as it made a lot of sense, I
wanted to continue the storyline as I ended the previous film on a
cliff hanger. I also wanted to challenge myself once again on trying
to improve the standard of the film such as using different editing
techniques, visual effects and improved quality of sound. My film
ideas this time was a stereotypical representation of young black
boys who are notorious criminals trying there hardest to beat the
case pinned on them due to the murder of a fictional character
called, ”Darren Brown” . They eventually are released on bail but
need to eliminate any evidence before they are taken into custody
and part of that evidence is, "Kyle”. This then leads to the
kidnapping of Jason and the onslaught brutal shooting of Kyle’s
friend to send Kyle a message. The film also starts of with
flashbacks from my first film. The main reasons for these was that
it was important that my audience understood the storyline
without having to watch the first film and I also wanted to
entertain my audience so that that may go back and watch the
first film.
3. What was I trying to achieve when I was
making my final project?
I wanted my audience to watch my film and
be able to say after the film that they were
informed, educated and entertained. I wanted
to inform the audience on the rise of youth
violence in todays society, educate them on
the consequence's of the violence either being
leading you to jail or death and entertaining
my audience with some high intense action.
4. What message was I trying to give?
The message I was trying to deliver was gang warfare in reality and even not being
involved but just being associated a little can get you into immense trouble. In my film,
Jason was a smart kid but allowed himself to be manipulated by Jeffrey into drug
dealing in the early years of his life. Once Darren Brown was killed and Tops and
Jeffrey was arrested he decided to live a positive live playing football as a hobby.
However, once again he got caught up playing football with a previous heist member
Kyle and was kidnapped and killed as people were after Kyle. I wanted my to deliver
this message to my audience with some of the unfortunate events that happens when
you are or once where involved in gang culture.
5. Who was I targeting with my final project and
what relevance does it have to an audience?
I was targeting the age bracket of 16-19 years old as
these are the ages you this start getting caught up in
gang culture. I wanted this audience to be aware of
some cruel things the culture can lead to. The
relevance of this is to try and cut down the crime for
the future and try to increase positivity.
6. Was this a project that I had passion
about?
This Is a project I definitely have passion
about, since last year I knew that I enjoyed
making film so for that reason making
another short film was a no brainer for me.
Whilst making the film, I enjoyed using the
DSLR Cameras picking up different camera
angles and shots such as medium shots, close
ups and long shots. I also had fun editing
using the software Adobe Premiere Pro and
for the first time using After effects where I
learned new things. Making Character
profiles and Storyboards was nice and I felt
very creative.
