2. Reader profile
• The target audience will be between the ages of 17 and 30. My magazine will primarily aim for
females, but will also target a small proportion of the male audience. The magazine will cover not
just music but fashion, art and literature. Most of the sources will come directly from London.
The magazine I have created will be mainly consumed by people who are interested in finding out
the newest trends within my main three sub topics, fashion, art and literature. The magazine will
not follow the mainstream guidelines and will impress it’s audience with its authenticity and
element of trend. I will use artists that are deemed to be ‘indie’ or ‘out there’ there appearance
will create an attraction of fans and therefor attract my aimed audience. The content will be
strictly suitable for readers 16 and over as the language will be at a higher level and will try to
‘impress’ the audience with new and technical words relating to the topic.
3. ‘NME’ uses more tag lines
which is not what I like,
although if I use it in my final
product it will show a higher
level of skill. The tag lines are
minimal
I like the colour contrast with this
magazine. The yellow with the black and
white makes it stand out more to the
reader. The front cover isn’t very
traditional either the writing is minimal
and the model is wearing a skull face
paint. The idea behind this is ‘youth’ the
skull represents death and the other side
represent youth. The then words ‘live it’
are at the left of the page, placed on top
of the black background for boldness.
This magazine had used colour to contrast
again, with a grey background and white
font. The title is brighter and bolder. It’s the
same for the model who is in all white. The
model they have used is quite famous and
popular within the reader profile.
I liked the way both of these magazines have
used people who express their individuality.
For my magazine I want to use somebody
who really expresses their individuality
through their style.
4. What will be included?
Magazine posters:
Quizzes and competitions:
Exclusive interviews with local, well known
bands and artists:
Photo shoots:
Editors letters:
Reviews for music (video), films and
TV:
Music articles and other articles
on different relevant subjects:
5. Every month I will publish the magazine
on the 5th day and I will sell it in every
newsagents and local shop. Because the
magazine is published every month it
would be £3, which is an affordable price
for members of the public.
Occasionally I would include cd’s and
discounts to stores that would fit the
reader profile. For example cd’s could be
included in special editions of their
favourite bands. And the flyers would be
for local artists or new artist who a playing
gigs. There would also be discount codes
for music apps, lastly I would have prize
draws for regular readers that buy from the
magazine often.
The genre of my magazine would be indie/
pop, this was the most popular choice of
music from my results. The audience is
17+
6. Mission statement
‘Lucide’ magazine aims to influence, inform and entertain the youth of our society. The way it will envision
people will be unique to other magazine. ‘Lucide’ will have an urban twist that explores new artists, fashion,
music genres and culture. Using different materials and sources ‘Lucide’ will provide the perfect combination
that will grip readers and encourage them to continue buying ‘Lucide’ magazine. The models I aspire to use will
have the connotations of ‘urban’, ‘stylish’ and ‘indie’. The reasoning behind that is the obvious trend growing
within the youth culture at this current time. I also want eccentric themes running within my magazine, things
that will intrigue members of the audience. I will aim to do this with using textures such as neon, fur and bright
colours ect. These such things aren’t often seen in the mainstream media and will attract a different audience
of individuals seeking to find topics they are more interesting in and also topics they feel they can relate to.
