The proposed magazine targets 16-25 year olds interested in indie rock music. It will include artist interviews, fan profiles for entertainment, and information on upcoming concerts. The monthly magazine will use bold fonts and dark colors with an eye-catching faded cover photo. It will be published by Anthem Publishing, which does not already have an indie rock magazine. A free demo CD and social media pages will provide unique content for readers.

1. Proposal
My magazine is aimed towards the ages 16-25 ABC1 because they have a disposable income and
they can afford the magazine monthly and people who are passionate about the genre Indie Rock
I'm hoping that the magazine would be aimed towards both genders. I will use a bold font and dark
colours so it stands out and is eye-catching. I will create a magazine with a Front cover, content
page and a two page spread. The front cover will have a picture of a girl with indie inspired
clothing, make-up and hair. The picture will have a faded effect, this way it shows the magazines
individuality, much like the target audience. They are determined to be different from other
costumers, they’re not easily marketed towards mass media.
I believe that the purpose of my magazine will be to entertain and inform readers of new upcoming
indie artists. There will be a artist interview or a fact profile. I will also be including information on
the fans which can be viewed as entertainment, as the fans would also have a part within the
magazine.
Moreover, the magazine will hold a mixture of fun whilst giving a great sense of honesty, the
magazine will be a monthly release magazine such as ‘MOJO’ as I believe that a magazine can not
have enough information about a magazine weekly. By having it released monthly, the audience
will be able to see about upcoming concerts and gigs.
For my publishing house, I’m going to be using ‘Anthem Publishing’ as it doesn’t have an indie rock
magazine which is the genre of my magazine. This publishing house includes a Guitar & Bass
magazine, Classic Pop magazine and a Vintage Rock magazine. These 3 magazines are similar to
mine but none of them are exactly the same which is helpful as the audience of this website will be
interested in reading my magazine.
The unique feature that will be in my magazine is a freebie such as a demo CD of one of the artists
inside the magazine, alongside this, there will be a double page spread of fans and their social
media, as the media has a great impact and part in music.
This is the magazine I
am inspired by, it is an
Indie lifestyle
magazine. It focus’ on
fashion, photography,
art and music.
However, it is not a
indie magazine that
focus’ only on music. I
like the effect of the
photo and I like the
simplicity, but it still
stands out.
These are the two
magazines that I am going
to look at closely when
creating my magazine as it
is a magazine which focus’
on all genres of music
including indie, it still has
individuality and also
match my target audience.
