During this lesson, learners will be able to recognize the importance of
plants through the process of photosynthesis and how they can contribute
to environmental care.
Teaching points: - language focus:

2. · Teaching approach or combination of methods / approaches: Communicative
aprroach
· Integration of skills: What skills will be integrated and how?
· Materials and resources: flascards,videos,copies
· Seating arrangement: first students will work all together, then they will separate
in small groups
Routine 2’: Teacher will greet students.
T: Hello students! How are you?
S: Hello miss!! Fine!!
Warm up 5’:
Teacher will show students words with their definition and in groups and orally,
students have to match with the correct part of the flower.
3. T: Ok! We are going to read the definitionx! And match with the correct part of the plant!
Do you remember?
Definition 1 (teacher reads or may invite a volunteer to read flower’s definition)
Ok! Where does it belong?
S: alla miss! (students’ points)
T: Right! Who wants to match it?
Teacher repeats the procedure with the rest of the definitions.
Transition: Well done! Now we are going to investigate: Do you know how plants eat?
Presentation 10’:
Teacher will display a poster with the word “Photosynthesis “and will make some
questions.
T: Look at this picture!!
4. It has a word!! Do you know it? Do you know what it means?
S: yes! Fotosintesis!
T: Yes! That’s right! And Do you know what photosynthesis is?
S: Yes!! Es como la panta se alimenta!
S No!
T: Ok! We are going to watch a video about what photosintesis is!
You have to pay special attention to this chart!
Activity 1:
Where does photosynthesis take
place?
In the plant’s leaves
Where does the carbon dioxide come
from?
Which part of the plant absorbs the
carbon dioxide?
The leaves
Where does the water come from?
Which part of the plant absorbs the
water?
The roots
What do the chloroplasts in the leaf
cells contain?
What does the photo in
photosynthesis mean?
Light
How does the plant use the glucose?
5. What happens to the oxygen? Some goes into the air and some is used
in respiration.
Note: Teacher will explain the question so that students understand every question.
However, teacher will translate the wh- words
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ur8uQoTwaco
teacher will encourage students to give their answer.
(Note: students may need to watch the video for a second time)
T: Do you like the video?
S: Yes!!
T: Ok! Now we are going to complete a chart!
( Note: I can’t paste the diagram, I will try again tomorrow)
Activity 2 10’:
Student will play a memory game on the board.
Teacher will make some big flashcard with the questions and the answer from the
activity 1.
In group of four, students should match each answer with the correct question.
Teacher will make an example to show students. They should remember what they have
learnt before
T: Ok! now we are going to play a game! You will have to match each question with their
answer. The group that do first will be the winner.
(I will upload the power point by email, because it is impossible to paste here. It was
given by the teacher)
S: yes!!
Activity 3 10’:
Teacher will give some copies to students complete. They can help themselves with the
previous activities.
Here are some facts about photosynthesis. Can you make questions from the
information?
What?
What do ………………………………………………………………………………….?
The chloroplasts in the leaf cells contain chlorophyll.
………………………………………………………………………………………..…….?
6. The photo in photosynthesis means light.
Where?
Where does ……………………………………………………………………………?
Photosynthesis takes place in the leaves.
……………………………………………………………………………………………….?
Carbon dioxide comes from the air.
……………………………………………………………………………………………….?
The water comes from the soil.
Which part?
……………………………………………………………………………………………….?
The leaves of the plant absorb the carbon dioxide.
……………………………………………………………………………………………….?
The roots of the plant absorb the water.
Note: this activity was given by the teacher
Teacher will walk around the classroom to check students’ answers.
Closure 2’
T: What a lovely work girls and boys! Now it’s time to go home!
See you on Monday!

Observations Nice ideas, Flavia! You included a video and some game-like activities to
practise the target language.
Do not forget about skills development when setting the aims, and
describing how skills will be integrated in the corresponding section of the
plan.
Unfortunately, the video you have chosen presents several serious
mistakes. You cannot show that to your students. I am positive you will be
able to find an appropriate material.
Keep an eye on language. There are several spelling and grammar
mistakes in this lesson plan. Please, proof read.
Make the necessary changes, and do enjoy the lesson!
