influenced at all.

that graduates and goes to college.
Being successful at a young age.

characteristics and knowledge of a
particular group of people,
encompassing language, religion,
cuisine, social habits, music and arts.
Examples: Culture of Diversity
(indian culture, european culture,
chinese culture etc…)
4. Cultural Dimensions
Definition: It describes
the effects of a society's
culture on the values of its
members, and how these
values relate to behavior,
using a structure derived
from factor analysis.
5. Case study:
(Cultural
Dimensions)
- This hypothesis was tested in a field
experiment by petrova et al. (2007) their
study involved 3000 students at a US
university. Nearly half were native us
students and the rest were asian students at
the same university. All were sent an email
asking them to participate in a survey. A
month later, the students received a second
email asking them whether they would agree
to take part in an online survey.
- The researchers found that the proportion of
students agreeing to the first request was
higher amongst the asian students than
among the us students. however ,
compliance with the first request had a
stronger impact on compliance with the
second request among the us students than
among the asian students. In fact, the
proportion of US student who agreed to the
second request, (having previously agreed to
the first was twice as high as it was among
the asian students. This is the positive
example of the FITD effect
among the US students.
6. Conclusion:
In conclusion, culture does change behaviour you start
acting and behaving in ways that are seen as appropriate
to such a culture. Your dress sense, grooming, language,
belief system and attitude become molded to fit into
that society which makes you become accepted by them.
Hence, culture plays a big role in determining how an
individual behaves in any given environment.
