Since individuals of the same generation often share similar
values, beliefs, and attitudes, age is an important variable to consider.

It is important to remember that since birth, we have been conditioned
to make the distinction between men and women, masculinity and
femininity.

CULTURAL, ETHNIC, AND RACAIL BACKGROUND
In order to adapt the message to the audience it is important to
become aware of one’s own ethnocentrism and to avoid prejudice
and racism.

The topic of a speech provides one focus for an audience’s attitudes,
beliefs and values.

A specific purpose reveals a speaker’s exact position on a topic, so an
audience is even more likely to agree or disagree with a specific
