2. Magazine front cover
• Creating this college magazine I had to
appeal to certain target audience, to meet
target audience needs. My college magazine
is aimed mostly to college females aged 16-
21. To make it successful I had to make a
research into what attracts my Target
Audience the most.
3. Emphasis on gender
• Mid close-up
• Use of make-up
• Noticeable piercing
• Nature (the use of flower)
• Fashionable clothes, mostly black and white –
colourful scarf
• Pose
• Not using direct gaze – challenging conventions
4. Reasons for this…
• Using a mid close-up lets target audience see the image very clearly. They can
analyse it very easily just with one glace.
• I made my model to wear very neutral make-up which connotes about my target
audience themselves.
• The model has her nose pierced. I did not get rid of this because this represents my
target audience very well.
• Also the use of flower in her hair, it might not look very natural in terms that it
looks stuck in her hair, however I think it works very well with representing college
people as very young, thoughtful, challenging and brave people.
5. …
• I have chosen the particular clothes for my model to wear. Black and white
colour, because for the information based on my research my target audience
expect to see black white and red on the front college magazine cover,
because T.A tries to look very mature, or even professional but at the same
time fashionable.
• The way she poses, is challenging conventions and standards, but this is what
young people mostly like to do. It does look different, like a small frozen
moment between studies.
6. …
• Front cover attracted my T.A because they identified the main model as it
would be them. Looking at the image it seems like she’s talking to someone
which connotes about a break between studies. It is exactly what young
college people do when they are studying. The small details used in the
picture also makes the T.A think that they might even have some kind of
connection with her.
7. Magazine contents page
• Choosing the colours, font, the cover lines
and images for my contents page I linked it
to my T.A. research, which helped me to
construct it.
