RESEARCH
Define a fun, loving 16-25 year old mass market
The demographic
■ Mass market means there is a vast collection of socioeconomic status, culture and
values concerning the audience
■ Though would typically be a student
■ The 16-25 age gap expresses more relevant, online and mainstream culture
The psychographic
■ Because of the diversity constituted by the mass market, there are many different
personal values my audience could respond to
■ Typically they would be reformers, aspirers, explorers or mainstreamers
■ Each of these link in a way as individuality (perused by reformers) has become
desirable and “indie” trends have become more popular
■ Younger people tend to be aspirers and follow trends and popular culture to seek
status and would appreciate aesthetics and appearance
■ Explorers seek discovery; there are many social, cultural issues today concerning
young people- for example, global warming has encouraged a mass movement from
young people who formed the “Extinction Rebellion” in 2019
My chosen briefVS the audience profile
■ I would like to create a cultural magazine which exploits issues of young peoples’
societies
■ To address this as an entertaining and relevant magazine, I would incorporate
intertextuality of popular culture and encourage audience participation
■ To attract the audience I would make sure the layout, appearance and aesthetics are
desirable yet novel and eye-opening offering a new brand of issue magazine to buy in
to

■ For this demographic, the audience engage with popular culture that is iconic and
influential.
■ They would recognize social media influencers,TV and film stars, new music artists,
iconic figures i.e Marilyn Monroe, Frida Kahlo
■ Popular culture would involve Netflix series (popular mostly with this demographic),
