"Material Girl", the article will be about living
sustainably and single-use plastics
■ Costume; white silk gloves, silver-bold jewelry, silk
dress- connoting the glamour of Madonna's music
video
■ Graphics of handwriting of the lyrics as though its
been signed by model
■ Masthead idea #1; refine (fitting to the
concept), contrast in fonts interesting
■ Possibly with recycling, rubbish as the backdrop to
connote the "material world" as being materialistic
and representing landfill
4. PRODUCTION?
■ For this shoot I will use silk gloves, silver
jewellery, satin green prom dress to connotethe
glamour of Madonna's material girl
■ My friend Elsie will model for me as she has the
potential to model well for the luxurious shoot I
have planned especially becauseshe is tanned
and has clear skin. Although she doesn’tlook
exactly like Madonna, I think using her as a
model and using just the cover text/costumeto
reflect the material girl video will be effective
and ensurethe shoot is less of a dress-up

■ Concept; intertextual reference to David Bowie
"Life on Mars" "Ziggy Stardust". Exploring the
idea of what happens when the world might
deteriorate due to global warming i.e where will
we live?
■ Costume; Ziggy Stardust makeup, hair slicked
back, confidentexpression
■ Masthead idea #2; Trash mag sounds bold and
catchy, reflection of the global warming aspect,
contrast colours
■ Orange wall backdrop
7. PRODUCTION?
■ For this shoot I will do David Bowie, Ziggy
Stardust makeup on my model Maisie
■ Have her pose in front of the orange wall by
Southend Forum and some other locations
■ I chose Maisie as my model becauseshe is
confident posing, which is vital to have a
persona like Bowie. Using a female model to
represent a male icon is an interesting idea too
to ensure my magazine exploits diverse
representations etc.
