Whole-Home Satire
Out dated or damaged residential electrical wiring can pose a risk of home fires and personal injury. This risk can be reduced by having an
experienced electrician from Prime Electrical Service rewire and upgrade the home's electrical system. Here are some things you should know if you're
considering a whole–home rewire. Who Should Consider a Whole–home Rewire and Why A complete rewire of a home is a major renovation, one that
needs to be done every 50 years to keep the home up to date with the latest safety and efficiency standards. If your home is less than 50 years old,
rewiring may not be necessary unless the following are noticed: Frequently tripped circuit breakers. Faint but constant "burning" smell with or without

Nuclear Energy: The Only Way To Meet Our Electrical Energy...
The United States needs a change in its energy sources. Oil, first of all, is a scarce resource that will eventually run out, and it also makes the U.S.
depend on the political situation in other countries, as can be seen at the frequent changes in oil prices due to the political situation in the Middle–East.
Alternative energy sources are an important issue to consider and nuclear energy is certainly the most controversial. There are currently 104 nuclear
power plants operating in the United States, but the licenses of those plants will expire in foreseeable future, the first one already in 2013 and the last
one in 2046 (Nuclear Energy Inst.). Those expiration dates initiate the discussions if the licenses should be renewed for the plants ... Show more content

Firstly, the atomic incidents of Three Mile Island in Pennsylvania and Chernobyl in Russia are often mentioned as examples for nuclear plants being
unsafe. In both cases failures of workers led to a meltdown in the reactors and increased radiation in the surrounding area (Henderson 12–17). And as
the recent disaster in Japan shows, a nuclear crisis cannot only be caused by human mishaps, but also by unpredictable and untamable natural hazards.
Consequently, nuclear crises cannot be predicted or prevented completely. Nuclear plants are, furthermore, considered uneconomical because in the
eighties the construction costs of nuclear plants were underestimated and exceeded the estimation by $100 billion (Henderson 103). Therefore, the
nuclear power opponents are arguing that nuclear power is burdening the American economy unnecessarily. According to the nuclear physicist Jeff
Eerkens, antinuclear groups are also claiming that nuclear power is not necessary for the future since renewable energy sources, such as solar, wind,
hydro, and geothermal power will be providing sufficient energy for the United States, and are at the same time much cheaper than the costly nuclear
power plants (Eerkens 20). Over all, opponents consider nuclear power to risky and inefficient to "deserve further support from U.S. taxpayers"
(Henderson 104). Nonetheless, many of those objections are actually only based on myths about nuclear power. Nuclear energy is necessary as the
future primary

Electrical Energy, Transmission, And Distribution
CHAPTER 1
INTRODUCTION
PROBLEM SUMMARY AND INTRODUCTION
The energy can neither be created nor be destroyed but it can be converted from one form to another. Electrical energy is widely used in day to day
life in various applications. The generation of as electrical energy is nothing but the conversion of various other forms of energy into electrical energy.
This generated energy is demanded by the consumers. There are three main parts of power system network: Generation, Transmission and Distribution.
Fig. 1.1 Generation, Transmission and Distribution
Energy consumption is calculated mainly in kW. Watts, kilowatts, megawatts are the units forelectricity. The smallest unit is watts; if you consider
1000 W then it is 1 kW. 1000 kW = 1 MW. Also, Consumption is a measure of how much energy you have purchased from your electricity utility. The
SI unit of energy is the joule, but this is a very small quantity, so electricity utilities use kilowatt hours (kWh) instead of joules. The rate at which you
use energy is called power, and is measured in watts (W). But you are not charged for the rate at which you use energy, only the amount of energy
used. The power of the generating station, and is normally measured in megawatts (MW).Today accuracy in electrical billing is highly recommended.
The calculation of energy consumption gives real power consumption as well as accurate billing. It provides real time monitoring of electricity uses. It
is less time consuming and cost effective.

This field first became more known in the late nineteenth century. It was able to develop so much because of the commercialization of the electric
telegraph and the electrical power supply. Electrical engineers mostly deal with power, optoelectronics, digital electronics, analog electronics, computer
science, artificial intelligence, control systems, electronics, signal processing and telecommunications. An electrical engineer is able to create,
manipulate, transmit and receive data by electronic means such as 1's and 0's. What electrical engineers do is deal with problems associated with
large–scale electrical systems such as power, transmission, and motor control. Electrical engineers deal with electrical components that can span from
the earth all the way to intergalactic space. One life changing invention is that of the transistors. The transistor is small semiconductor that allows the
flow of current to a source, it is able to stop or it amplify it depending on the type used. This is only one of the many remarkable inventions electrical
engineers get to deal

The Effects Of Conventional Energy Sources And Increasing...
Depleting nature of the conventional energy sources and increasing cost of electrical energy are forcing mankind to look for possible modifications in
the existing systems towards lower energy consumption without sacrificing the purpose for which it is used. The household refrigerator used
extensively all over the world for preserving various food products is one such system which accounts for the substantial part of the house electricity
bills. Refrigerator is a machine which lifts up the heat from low evaporator temperature (pressure) and pumps it against the high condenser
temperatures (pressure).
Following were the objectives decided for achieving this aim:
1.To study the literature on domestic refrigerator with higher evaporator temperature in the temperature range of 265K–270K.
2.To study existing domestic refrigerator including lower temperatures.
3.To design and fabricate a suitable capillary tube to be used with the modified refrigerator to provide required evaporator temperature.
4.Redesigning the shape of the evaporator used in the refrigerator.
5.To evaluate the performance of the system using recommended test procedures in the literature.
6.To evaluate economic viability of the system for modifying the existing systems.
The reason behind selecting the temperature range 268K–272K for domestic refrigerator in the evaporator is to study the effects of the this temperature
range on stored products and to increase coefficient of performance of the

An Analysis of the Use of Nanotechnology in Electrical...
The energy demand all over the world is expected to be 28 terawatts by 2050, which can lead to increase of energy consumption patterns and
greenhouse gas production. (P.Alivisatos et al. 2005) One of the most significant issues the industrialised world is facing today is the energy
challenge, issues associated with energy production, storage and reducing consumption of energy use. The use of energy has reason to rise over time
due to an increase in the world population and the discovery of new technologies which require electrical energy. The electrical energy is used
everywhere, from heating homes to manufacturing. The energy resources are divided into two types: alternative and traditional energy resources. The

The aim of this paper is to analyse the use of nanotechnology in alternative energy production, storage and as a means of reducing energy
consumption. Roger A.Hinriches and Merlin Kleinbach (2006) declared (claimed) that "every day the earth surface receives thousands of times
more energy from the Sun than it consumed in all other resources". Cleanliness, availability and renewability of solar energy make it virtually ideal.
(Grant E.Gardner, 2008). The use of solar energy for production of electricity is based on the photoelectric effect. The photoelectric effect is a
process, when light strikes certain metals and, as a result, electrons are emitted from the metal surface. (Hugh D.Young, Roger A.Freedman 2008).
Photovoltaic cells (PV), known as solar cells, are devices which collect radiation energy in the form of sunlight and convert into electricity. Solar
cells are made of semiconducting materials, especially silicon. Silicon absorbs photons of light which strike the cells. The energy of the absorbed
light transfers to the silicon semiconductor, after that this energy pushes electrons out. This is why the can flow freely which leads to the emergence
of electric current. The electrical energy from solar cells can then be used directly. However, considerable amount of solar energy on PV cells

Speech On A Parol Circuit
Making a parol is really hard especially with lights in it. It was hard and fun at the same time. In order for us to start doing it we designed and
make our circuit plan. In doing our parol circuit we trodden with different electronics material like resistor, capacitor, transformer and a lot more.
This is not new to me and to others but at the same time my knowledge into it widens. Our parol is one of the biggest and widest it was really hard
and we thought that we could not finish it on the allotted time given. But with unity and team work we are able to finish it. All of us have a different
role or task to make. I still remember the time that after school we would immediately go to Jake house and finish it. It was exhausting but it is all
worth it in the end seeing it light for the first time takes away all of the sweat and tiredness away.

In its simplest form, a capacitor consists of two conducting plates separated by an insulating material called the dielectric. The capacitance is measured
in units of Farad (F). The capacitor disconnects current in direct current (DC) circuits and short circuit in alternating current (AC) circuits. Large
capacitors are used in the power supplies of electronic equipment of all types, including computers and their peripherals.
Resistor
Resistors are electronic components which have a specific, never–changing electrical resistance. The resistor's resistance limits the flow of electrons
through a circuit. They are passive components, meaning they only consume power (and can't generate it). Resistors are usually added to circuits
where they complement active components like op–amps, microcontrollers, and other integrated circuits. Commonly resistors are used to limit current,
divide voltages, and pull–up I/O lines. The electrical resistance of a resistor is measured in ohms.

A Fundamental Advantage Of Ecs Adjustment For Effective...
A fundamental advantage of ECS adjustment for effective dynamic thermal storage is that it is relatively easy to implement. Conventional air
conditioning and thermostats are designed to perform in slow control loops, on time scales of minutes. ECS adjustment can use time–scale separation
and stay away from this "effective dc" loop action. In this sense, an ac feed–forward signal is injected into a drive to adjust power flow on fast time
scales, while avoiding interference on slow time scales. The average performance of the ECS system remains intact, and the fast adjustment is
transparent to users. Fig. 2 displays this implementation control. Bandpass filtered varying power must be applied with band and amplitude limitations

A few recent papers [53]–[56] have demonstrated a virtual synchronous machine (VSM) concept, particularly for microgrid applications and usually for
distributed generators utilizing the same ac–dc–ac conversion stages. The same concept applied on flywheel based energy storage is discussed in [57].
Given the similarities existed in the MEA power grid and motor controlled thermal storage, it is deemed feasible to implement the VSM concept in this
research. A high–level description is shown in Fig. 3. For a synchronous machine in the rotating reference frame, the d–q voltage and current
relationship is shown in (1a–b), where vg is the grid voltage, R is the stator resistance, M is the magnetizing, and Ld = Lq = L is assumed. On the
other hand, the active front end (i.e., the hex–bridge converter connected to the gird) follows (2a–b) in d–q reference frame at П‰c rotating speed,
where Rg and Lg are grid tied resistance and inductance, and vc is the output voltage at the converter controlled by modulation index from the dc
voltage bus []. The analogy between (1a–b) and (2a–b) is straightforward. By equating the first three terms and varying the modulation indices, md and
mq, the active front end mimics the VSM proposed in [ZhongQC]. The purpose of the ac motor–tied inverter (i.e., the left hex–bridge converter in Fig.
3) is to main a constant 270 V dc bus by adjusting the motor speed and torque using conventional vector controls. Given the limited

Analysis Of My Rube Goldberg Project
In my Rube Goldberg project had 8 energy transformations. My first energy transformation was elastic to gravitational, it started with a rubber band
which is elastic potential but when the rubber band was streaked and released and hit the Jenga blocks the energy transformed into gravitational. The
second transformation is gravitational to electrical, this happened when the Jenga blocks fell onto the switch on the fan which creates electrical energy.
The third energy transformation was inside the fan it was electrical to mechanical. The electrical energy was from the outlet which was turned on by
the switch in the fan, the transformation took place when the turbines in the fan started to spin creating mechanical energy. The fourth energy

In the end the performance of software Defined Optical Networks is evaluated.
Keywords– Software Defined Networks, Optical Networks.
1. Introduction
The major goal of Software Defined networks is separate the control plane and the data plane and passing the control to a SDN controller for the
programmability of the network resources. The SDN architecture consist of basically 3 layers– (i) the infrastructure layer (ii) the control layer and (iii)
the application layer (from top to bottom). The connecting interface between the control and application layer is termed as the NorthBound Interface
while between the control layer and the infrastructure layer is termed as SouthBound Interface. The SouthBound Interface uses the Open Flow Protocol
to communicate with the lower level switches. The Controller is the main intelligent device present in the architecture that offers a centralized view of
the whole network [1].

Optical Networks provide a way of transmitting the user signal in an optical medium by converting them into light signals. Recent advances in the
optical networking technologies enables the transport networks to be more intelligent and allows more flexibility in multiplexing and switching
functions [2].

Electrical Engineering And The Field Of Engineering
Electrical Engineering is a well–respected and growing field of engineering that centers on the practical application of electricity, electromagnetism and
electronics. The field is of considerable necessity to modern life and infrastructure, having applications in many diverse branches of modern life. Some
of these include telecommunications, energy and power distribution, transportation, manufacturing and consumer electronics. In this report we will go
over the education and coursework requirements, fields of the industry, the work environment, salary, tools of the trade, and professional organizations
of electrical engineers. According to Frederick Terman;Electrical Engineering as a discipline first appeared in the United States during the early
1880's as classes in physics and energy flows intended to prepare students to enter the new and fast growing electrical manufacture industry. As the
industry grew, EE education followed. Within ten years the discipline made a place for itself along the more classicalengineering departments. An
example of the industry's adaptability to change would be the industry before and after the First World War. Before WWI, work in the industry was
concentrated primarily on the distribution of power, building electric infrastructure using the properties of AC and DC circuits. Also before WWI,
many students did not opt to take on graduate work. Instead, students typically would obtain a Bachelor's of Science and learn practical skills in

The Effect Of Concentration On The Electrical Energy...
Introduction: The Voltaic, or Daniel cell, is an electrochemical cell, invented in 1836 by a British chemist, Frederic Daniel. The cell produces electricity
through a redox reaction. The combined electric potentials of two metals in the metal sulphate solution of the electrolyte generate voltage. If the
concentration of one of the electrolyte solutions is increased, the number of cations and anions increase (depending on which electrolyte you increase),
which increases the overall voltage potential of the cell. Equilibrium conditions are not achieved when a current flow in the circuit. The cell potential
will usually be reduced by various mechanisms; this includes the development of over potential. As the electrolyte concentrations change and the cell
voltage is reduced, the cell will operate for longer. The concentration of the salt bridge has to be such that it can effectively separate two electrolyte
solutions, but porous enough to allow the steady exchange of cations and anions between the two electrolytes. The experiment uses a Voltaic cell to
demonstrate the effect of concentration on the electrical energy output. Hypothesis: The hypothesis put forward is that, as the salt bridge and the
Magnesium sulphate become more concentrated, the output of energy, measured in volts, will subsequently become greater. This is because the
combined electric potential will increase as the concentration increases. There may also be a turning point where the electrical energy output

are already testing and improving this new alternative energy. According to Penn State University they have achieved in producing 1.5 watts per
meter squared of amount of waste water taken in and believe that a large industrial plant will be able to produce near 0.8 watts per meter squared and

This cell uses bacteria like Shewanella oneidensis and Rhodoferax ferrireducens and many labs are attempting to find better strains of bacteria
more suited to the process (3). This fuel cells work in two parts. Basically, the microbial fuel cell has two halves, aerobic and anaerobic. Aerobic
means with presence of oxygen, anaerobic means a lack of oxygen. When bacteria consume their "food" in aerobic conditions they produce carbon
dioxide and water, however when it's in an anaerobic condition they produce carbon dioxide, electrons and protons. The MFC has the bacteria put in
the anaerobic chamber of the cell and decompose water material that contain glucose and/or acetate. The bacteria also free hydrogen ions and
electrons. The electrons flow from an anode into the cathode. The hydrogen ions however just pass through the barrier; soon the electrons and
hydrogen ions are in the aerobic chamber and combine with the oxygen forming h2o. The H2O is released and electrical energy is produced from the
transfer off the energy between the Anode and Cathode (or Anaerobic and Aerobic chambers).
Microbial Fuel Cells have a large variety of benefits due to its versatility and choice of fuel.
Firstly it can use most biodegradable organic matter including human and animal waste, sewage, etc. This is great as there is no limit to the fuel and it
is easy to find. Secondly, it reduces cost

Electric Power, Motors and Generators Surround Us Every Day
Introduction
Our world is powered by electricity; it surrounds us in every turn and every corner, powering our streetlights, our TVs, our hospitals, our homes, and
our communities. Electricity is a form of energy that results from charged particles. There are many energy sources that can be converted into electricity
, and that's why it is suited for powering our society. We can generate electricity from burning fuels, energy of falling water, solar energy, and basically
anything that has energy. Electricity is also easy to distribute, using transmission lines connecting the energy power station to homes, schools and so
on. Atoms consist of electric charge, so electric charge is everywhere and the electric charge has an electric field. An electric field can only be created
by a positive charge and destroyed by a negative charge(Brightstorm, 2010). According to Bob emery, owner of senior physics website, to generate
electric power it requires motion between a magnetic field and a conductor. Attraction of a magnet is limited to certain boundaries this is called the
magnetic field of a magnet (Makemegenius, 2013).
An electric current in a magnetic field will experience a force, (HyperPhysics, 2014) due to the interaction between the charged particles in the electric
current and the magnet, this force is called the motor effect. To find the direction of magnetic field you use the right–hand rule, pointing the thumb in

The Role Of Chemical Reactions And Electricity And Centers...
Electrochemistry, a branch of physical chemistry, is the study of the relationship between chemical reactions and electricity and centers upon the
interrelation of chemical energy and electrical energy. Contributing to such crucial technological developments as the invention of batteries and fuel
cells, corrosion protection and the study of metallurgy, electrochemistry is credited with a great deal of real life applications and has had widespread
impact on mankind. One of the most common and fundamental applications of electrochemistry is producing an electric current from a spontaneous
redox reaction through the help of a device called the electrochemical cell. For example, if zinc metal is dropped into an aqueous solution of copper ion

The electrode placed with the reducing agent is called anode, while the one placed with the oxidizing agent is called cathode. In this case, a strip of
zinc metal should be placed in a solution of zinc nitrate and a strip of copper metal should be placed with copper nitrate. As the anode frees electrons
where oxidation takes place, the electrons enter an electricity–conducting wire and travel to the cathode where reduction takes place, thereby creating
electrical energy. In the meantime of this process, a positive charge and a negative charge accumulate in the oxidation and reduction vessel
respectively, due to the transfer of electrons. Since electrons do not have a propensity to travel from a positively–charged region to a
negatively–charged region, a salt bridge containing a cation and an anion that do not play a role in the redox reaction, is required to keep this system
operating. An U–shaped tube connecting the vessels, the salt bridge releases its cations to the reduction vessel and its anions to the oxidation vessel to
maintain the charge neutral. As scientific as this explanation may seem, battery, a ubiquitous product, is modeled after this cell system. "A common
example of an electrochemical cell is a standard 1.5–volt battery meant for consumer use".[ "Electrochemistry." Wikipedia. Accessed January 21, 2016.

Abstract
Wind power, as a kind of renewable energy, is widely used for electric power generation. Being clean and easily acquired, wind power generation has
a bright future. The conversion between wind energy and electric power can be divided into two parts. The kinetic wind energy is converted into
mechanical energy by the wind turbine first. Then the mechanical power is converted into electrical power by a generator. The more efficient the
conversion is, the less wind power the generator loses. Therefore, study on the efficiency of power conversion becomes an important subject. In this
literature review, Maximum Power Point Tracking (MPPT) in Permanent Magnet Synchronous Generator (PMSG) under Power Signal Feedback
Control algorithm will be mainly discussed.
Introduction
Wind power not only is clean and renewable but also has a large storage. The storage of wind power is ten times more than the storage of hydro
energy which could be exploited and used. It is regarded as an alternative to burning fossil fuel, is widely distributed produces no greenhouse gas
emissions during operation and uses little land [1]. For islands, grassland, pastoral area, mountain and highland, the water and fuel are always in a
shortage. This situation makes the wind power the most suitable energy source for these areas. Therefore, more and more countries have put high
importance to the use of wind power. The

Electrical Energy Into Mechanical Energy
Efficiency of any machine is how well it can convert one form of energy to another. Induction motors transform electrical energy into mechanical
energy. The induction motor receives power from the provision mains through the stator coil windings. The input power is electric power. The power
from the stator coil winding is transferred to rotor, via air gap by induction principle. The output power is a mechanical power. The mechanical power
is obtained at the shaft of the motor to perform mechanical work. Then the efficiency is established by knowing the input power and the output power.
Efficiency of any machine is the quantitative relation of output power and input power. The efficiency of induction motor is determined using the

Its energy can be generated for both low and high voltage purposes, ranging from 12V for domestic uses to up to 240V for industrial applications. This
quality empowers it to significantly decrease waste in electric power.
Durability: another major advantage an induction motor has is that it is extremely rugged. This makes it the optimal machine for a number of uses.
Induction motors are cost effective, low cost of maintenance and as a result these motor can run for years with relatively no cost or maintenance as
they do not contain brushes, commutators, and slip rings. Induction motor can be operated in toxic environments as they don't contain brushes that can
cause sparks (Advantages of electric induction motors. n.d.).
4.3 Negatives
Speed Control: the main disadvantage of AC motors, is that their speed is difficult to control. AC motors can be operated with variable frequency
drives that provides smooth turning torque, at low speeds and get control over the speed of the motor up to its suggested value. Variable frequency
drives enhance speed control, but create losses with low power quality.
Control Complexity: another significant disadvantage is that an AC motor controller must convert ACelectricity to DC, and back again to an adjustable
frequency and voltage output to the AC motor.
Power and Torque: the major drawback of using an induction motor has been that they develop less power, or less torque. The motor efficiency drops
at low loads because

The availability of an abundant amount of energy in the modern times has brought about higher industrial production, improved communication and
transportation facilities and better management of the basic necessities. Development has never been as accessible to a broad range of people
belonging to all social classes. The present–day society is so reliant upon the utilization of energy, most specifically electrical energy, that it has become
a part of the people's daily living. The actual magnitude that energy had input in the society is innumerable. The increased cost and consumption and
the depletion of environmental resources are some of the reasons why energy production is constantly being enhanced over the long run (Discovery
Education, n.d.). The constant improvements in power production have always aimed for the same goal: making power a better choice for efficient
generation.
Electrical energy is a commodity that is manufactured through converting raw materials provided by nature into usable electricity. It is available in

Electrical Energy Into Mechanical Energy
4.1.Principle of Operation
Ultrasonic sensors are devices deployed to convert electrical energy into mechanical energy. Ultrasonic waves are longitudinal waves which move as a
series of compressions and rarefactions across the direction of wave propagation through the medium [37]. In addition to distance measurement, they
are also utilised in ultrasonic material testing to detect; air bubbles, cracks, and other defects in products, detection of object and position, ultrasonic
mouse, etc [37].
Ultrasonic sound waves are mechanical vibrations that display all of the same features as audible sound waves, only they operate at higher frequencies.
Audible sound wave frequencies range between 20 Hz to 20 kHz. In contrast ultrasonic waves range from 20 kHz to 800 MHz, Generally, ultrasonic
waves that are used for the testing of materials range from around 0.5 MHz to 20 MHz [38]. Ultrasonic waves are transferred via vibrating particles;
therefore, ultrasonic waves require a transmission medium whether it is solid, liquid, or gas along which to propagate [3].
The velocity of sound is not constant, but, it alters in dissimilar media and also in the same medium at different temperature. For instance, it is
estimated to be roughly around 331.9272 meters per second at 0В°C in air medium; however, it increased to around 344.4240 meters per second at
20В°C in the same air medium, or an increase of around 0.6248 meters per second for every centigrade degree rise in temperature [39]. Sound

Using Oil And Its Byproducts
INTRODUCTION
Throughout the years mankind has been using oil and its byproducts as a means of propulsion. However, we live in a world of finite resources and
as oil is depleting it is necessary to find different resources. Using electricity as means of propulsion instead of internal combustion engines which is
the current trend in most mechanical applications such as those in cars, ships and airplanes is what the world has deemed to be a solution to the over
use of oil and its byproducts. Electricity is a resource which is significantly cleaner to the environment than that of oil, especially if generated by
"green" means such as solar power, wind energy, etc.
With this concept in mind, airplanes, which provide a means of transportation, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

THE MORE ELECTRIC AIRCRAFT
The more electric aircraft (MEA) is a concept which describes the use of electronics in the existing airplane designs. As per (Kostakis, et al., 2014)
cabin pressurization, air–conditioning and anti–ice wing protection require pneumatic power, flight surface actuation, landing gear and breaking
require hydraulic power, and finally, engine fuel and oil pumps require mechanical power. Electrical power is limited to cabin lights, fans and
avionics. However, on a MEA electrical power is used to power some or all the above mentioned loads. Additionally, two new technological features
are incorporated on a MEA, the bleed–less engine and the electrical self–start of the engine. In a bleed–less engine, all of the air–intake is converted
into thrust, without it having to be bypassed away from the compressors, as it would in a conventional engine, to power pneumatic loads. Bleed air is
still required on the engine for operability reasons, but by reducing the amount of bleed–air required, this could allow the removal of some heavy
equipment such as fans and ducts, and provides potential improvements in engine reliability. This architectural shift has brought benefits such as
weight reduction, optimized performance and reduced life–cycle costs for the plane operator. Nonetheless, the increase in on–board electrical energy

Investigating The Effect Of Different Masses Hoisted By An...
Abstract (Kaley Barnes and Isabelle Cunis): Using an electric motor, an experiment was performed to test the efficiency of the motor when the mass
being lifted was increased in increments of ten grams. As the mass increased by each increment of ten grams, the motor efficiency decreased by an
average of 7.439%. Our results were found by using the equation: efficiency=gain in potential differenceelectrical energy used Therefore, this inverse
relationship proved mass affects the efficiency of electric motors.
Introduction ( Jackson Cates and Aidan Rogers):
The purpose of this experiment was to investigate the effects of different masses hoisted by an electric motor from ground level to a height of 1.29 m.
The main purpose was to look how a change in mass affected the efficiency of our motor, but it did affect other variables such as power, current, force,
etc. For this experiment, our hypnosis is that as mass increases, the efficiency increases. Because in the equation for efficiency, efficiency=gain in
potential differenceelectrical energy used, gain in potential difference = mgh, the mass of an object has a direct relationship with the efficiency of the
motor. In this equation, we see that efficiency is affected by the mass that is lifted, gravity, the height the mass is being lifted, and the amount of energy
that is put into the system. We can see that mass, gravity, and height has a direct relationship while inputted power has an inverse relationship with
efficiency.

How Is Voltage Used In Australia
Voltage represents electric potential energy per unit charge. If a unit of electrical charge was placed in a location, the voltage indicates the potential
energy of it at that point. Basically, it is a measurement of the energy contained within an electric circuit or electric field at a given point.
The voltage used in households in Australia is 230V 50Hz.
How is electricity supplied to homes
Australia is self–sufficient in energy resources for electricity generation. The black coal is used to supply electricity in New South Wales, Queensland
and Western Australia, while the brown coal is used in Victoria. Australia also has hydro centrals, used to produce hydro
–electric energy for Tasmania.
States such as South Australia and Northern Territory

  • 3. There are currently 104 nuclear power plants operating in the United States, but the licenses of those plants will expire in foreseeable future, the first one already in 2013 and the last one in 2046 (Nuclear Energy Inst.). Those expiration dates initiate the discussions if the licenses should be renewed for the plants ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Firstly, the atomic incidents of Three Mile Island in Pennsylvania and Chernobyl in Russia are often mentioned as examples for nuclear plants being unsafe. In both cases failures of workers led to a meltdown in the reactors and increased radiation in the surrounding area (Henderson 12–17). And as the recent disaster in Japan shows, a nuclear crisis cannot only be caused by human mishaps, but also by unpredictable and untamable natural hazards. Consequently, nuclear crises cannot be predicted or prevented completely. Nuclear plants are, furthermore, considered uneconomical because in the eighties the construction costs of nuclear plants were underestimated and exceeded the estimation by $100 billion (Henderson 103). Therefore, the nuclear power opponents are arguing that nuclear power is burdening the American economy unnecessarily. According to the nuclear physicist Jeff Eerkens, antinuclear groups are also claiming that nuclear power is not necessary for the future since renewable energy sources, such as solar, wind, hydro, and geothermal power will be providing sufficient energy for the United States, and are at the same time much cheaper than the costly nuclear power plants (Eerkens 20). Over all, opponents consider nuclear power to risky and inefficient to "deserve further support from U.S. taxpayers" (Henderson 104). Nonetheless, many of those objections are actually only based on myths about nuclear power. Nuclear energy is necessary as the future primary ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Electrical Energy, Transmission, And Distribution CHAPTER 1 INTRODUCTION PROBLEM SUMMARY AND INTRODUCTION The energy can neither be created nor be destroyed but it can be converted from one form to another. Electrical energy is widely used in day to day life in various applications. The generation of as electrical energy is nothing but the conversion of various other forms of energy into electrical energy. This generated energy is demanded by the consumers. There are three main parts of power system network: Generation, Transmission and Distribution. Fig. 1.1 Generation, Transmission and Distribution Energy consumption is calculated mainly in kW. Watts, kilowatts, megawatts are the units forelectricity. The smallest unit is watts; if you consider 1000 W then it is 1 kW. 1000 kW = 1 MW. Also, Consumption is a measure of how much energy you have purchased from your electricity utility. The SI unit of energy is the joule, but this is a very small quantity, so electricity utilities use kilowatt hours (kWh) instead of joules. The rate at which you use energy is called power, and is measured in watts (W). But you are not charged for the rate at which you use energy, only the amount of energy used. The power of the generating station, and is normally measured in megawatts (MW).Today accuracy in electrical billing is highly recommended. The calculation of energy consumption gives real power consumption as well as accurate billing. It provides real time monitoring of electricity uses. It is less time consuming and cost effective. ... • 6. The Effects Of Conventional Energy Sources And Increasing... Depleting nature of the conventional energy sources and increasing cost of electrical energy are forcing mankind to look for possible modifications in the existing systems towards lower energy consumption without sacrificing the purpose for which it is used. The household refrigerator used extensively all over the world for preserving various food products is one such system which accounts for the substantial part of the house electricity bills. Refrigerator is a machine which lifts up the heat from low evaporator temperature (pressure) and pumps it against the high condenser temperatures (pressure). Following were the objectives decided for achieving this aim: 1.To study the literature on domestic refrigerator with higher evaporator temperature in the temperature range of 265K–270K. • 8. An Analysis of the Use of Nanotechnology in Electrical... The energy demand all over the world is expected to be 28 terawatts by 2050, which can lead to increase of energy consumption patterns and greenhouse gas production. (P.Alivisatos et al. 2005) One of the most significant issues the industrialised world is facing today is the energy challenge, issues associated with energy production, storage and reducing consumption of energy use. The use of energy has reason to rise over time due to an increase in the world population and the discovery of new technologies which require electrical energy. The electrical energy is used everywhere, from heating homes to manufacturing. The energy resources are divided into two types: alternative and traditional energy resources. The global energy challenge is... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The aim of this paper is to analyse the use of nanotechnology in alternative energy production, storage and as a means of reducing energy consumption. Roger A.Hinriches and Merlin Kleinbach (2006) declared (claimed) that "every day the earth surface receives thousands of times more energy from the Sun than it consumed in all other resources". Cleanliness, availability and renewability of solar energy make it virtually ideal. (Grant E.Gardner, 2008). The use of solar energy for production of electricity is based on the photoelectric effect. The photoelectric effect is a process, when light strikes certain metals and, as a result, electrons are emitted from the metal surface. (Hugh D.Young, Roger A.Freedman 2008). Photovoltaic cells (PV), known as solar cells, are devices which collect radiation energy in the form of sunlight and convert into electricity. Solar cells are made of semiconducting materials, especially silicon. Silicon absorbs photons of light which strike the cells. The energy of the absorbed light transfers to the silicon semiconductor, after that this energy pushes electrons out. This is why the can flow freely which leads to the emergence of electric current. The electrical energy from solar cells can then be used directly. However, considerable amount of solar energy on PV cells ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In order for us to start doing it we designed and make our circuit plan. In doing our parol circuit we trodden with different electronics material like resistor, capacitor, transformer and a lot more. This is not new to me and to others but at the same time my knowledge into it widens. Our parol is one of the biggest and widest it was really hard and we thought that we could not finish it on the allotted time given. But with unity and team work we are able to finish it. All of us have a different role or task to make. I still remember the time that after school we would immediately go to Jake house and finish it. It was exhausting but it is all worth it in the end seeing it light for the first time takes away all of the sweat and tiredness away. Parallel Circuit Parallel circuit ... The capacitance is measured in units of Farad (F). The capacitor disconnects current in direct current (DC) circuits and short circuit in alternating current (AC) circuits. Large capacitors are used in the power supplies of electronic equipment of all types, including computers and their peripherals. Resistor Resistors are electronic components which have a specific, never–changing electrical resistance. The resistor's resistance limits the flow of electrons through a circuit. They are passive components, meaning they only consume power (and can't generate it). Resistors are usually added to circuits where they complement active components like op–amps, microcontrollers, and other integrated circuits. Commonly resistors are used to limit current, divide voltages, and pull–up I/O lines. The electrical resistance of a resistor is measured in ohms. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 10. A Fundamental Advantage Of Ecs Adjustment For Effective... A fundamental advantage of ECS adjustment for effective dynamic thermal storage is that it is relatively easy to implement. Conventional air conditioning and thermostats are designed to perform in slow control loops, on time scales of minutes. ECS adjustment can use time–scale separation and stay away from this "effective dc" loop action. In this sense, an ac feed–forward signal is injected into a drive to adjust power flow on fast time scales, while avoiding interference on slow time scales. The average performance of the ECS system remains intact, and the fast adjustment is transparent to users. Fig. 2 displays this implementation control. A few recent papers [53]–[56] have demonstrated a virtual synchronous machine (VSM) concept, particularly for microgrid applications and usually for distributed generators utilizing the same ac–dc–ac conversion stages. The same concept applied on flywheel based energy storage is discussed in [57]. Given the similarities existed in the MEA power grid and motor controlled thermal storage, it is deemed feasible to implement the VSM concept in this research. A high–level description is shown in Fig. 3. For a synchronous machine in the rotating reference frame, the d–q voltage and current relationship is shown in (1a–b), where vg is the grid voltage, R is the stator resistance, M is the magnetizing, and Ld = Lq = L is assumed. On the other hand, the active front end (i.e., the hex–bridge converter connected to the gird) follows (2a–b) in d–q reference frame at П‰c rotating speed, where Rg and Lg are grid tied resistance and inductance, and vc is the output voltage at the converter controlled by modulation index from the dc voltage bus []. The analogy between (1a–b) and (2a–b) is straightforward. By equating the first three terms and varying the modulation indices, md and mq, the active front end mimics the VSM proposed in [ZhongQC]. The purpose of the ac motor–tied inverter (i.e., the left hex–bridge converter in Fig. 3) is to main a constant 270 V dc bus by adjusting the motor speed and torque using conventional vector controls. Introduction The major goal of Software Defined networks is separate the control plane and the data plane and passing the control to a SDN controller for the programmability of the network resources. The SDN architecture consist of basically 3 layers– (i) the infrastructure layer (ii) the control layer and (iii) the application layer (from top to bottom). The connecting interface between the control and application layer is termed as the NorthBound Interface while between the control layer and the infrastructure layer is termed as SouthBound Interface. The SouthBound Interface uses the Open Flow Protocol to communicate with the lower level switches. • 20. The Effect Of Concentration On The Electrical Energy... Introduction: The Voltaic, or Daniel cell, is an electrochemical cell, invented in 1836 by a British chemist, Frederic Daniel. The cell produces electricity through a redox reaction. The combined electric potentials of two metals in the metal sulphate solution of the electrolyte generate voltage. If the concentration of one of the electrolyte solutions is increased, the number of cations and anions increase (depending on which electrolyte you increase), which increases the overall voltage potential of the cell. Equilibrium conditions are not achieved when a current flow in the circuit. The cell potential will usually be reduced by various mechanisms; this includes the development of over potential. As the electrolyte concentrations change and the cell voltage is reduced, the cell will operate for longer. The concentration of the salt bridge has to be such that it can effectively separate two electrolyte solutions, but porous enough to allow the steady exchange of cations and anions between the two electrolytes. The experiment uses a Voltaic cell to demonstrate the effect of concentration on the electrical energy output. Hypothesis: The hypothesis put forward is that, as the salt bridge and the Magnesium sulphate become more concentrated, the output of energy, measured in volts, will subsequently become greater. This is because the combined electric potential will increase as the concentration increases. There may also be a turning point where the electrical energy output ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

This cell uses bacteria like Shewanella oneidensis and Rhodoferax ferrireducens and many labs are attempting to find better strains of bacteria more suited to the process (3). When bacteria consume their "food" in aerobic conditions they produce carbon dioxide and water, however when it's in an anaerobic condition they produce carbon dioxide, electrons and protons. The MFC has the bacteria put in the anaerobic chamber of the cell and decompose water material that contain glucose and/or acetate. The bacteria also free hydrogen ions and electrons. The electrons flow from an anode into the cathode. The hydrogen ions however just pass through the barrier; soon the electrons and hydrogen ions are in the aerobic chamber and combine with the oxygen forming h2o. The H2O is released and electrical energy is produced from the transfer off the energy between the Anode and Cathode (or Anaerobic and Aerobic chambers). Microbial Fuel Cells have a large variety of benefits due to its versatility and choice of fuel. • 23. Electric Power, Motors and Generators Surround Us Every Day Introduction Our world is powered by electricity; it surrounds us in every turn and every corner, powering our streetlights, our TVs, our hospitals, our homes, and our communities. Electricity is a form of energy that results from charged particles. There are many energy sources that can be converted into electricity , and that's why it is suited for powering our society. We can generate electricity from burning fuels, energy of falling water, solar energy, and basically anything that has energy. Electricity is also easy to distribute, using transmission lines connecting the energy power station to homes, schools and so on. Atoms consist of electric charge, so electric charge is everywhere and the electric charge has an electric field. An electric field can only be created by a positive charge and destroyed by a negative charge(Brightstorm, 2010). According to Bob emery, owner of senior physics website, to generate electric power it requires motion between a magnetic field and a conductor. Attraction of a magnet is limited to certain boundaries this is called the magnetic field of a magnet (Makemegenius, 2013). An electric current in a magnetic field will experience a force, (HyperPhysics, 2014) due to the interaction between the charged particles in the electric current and the magnet, this force is called the motor effect. Electrochemistry, a branch of physical chemistry, is the study of the relationship between chemical reactions and electricity and centers upon the interrelation of chemical energy and electrical energy. Contributing to such crucial technological developments as the invention of batteries and fuel cells, corrosion protection and the study of metallurgy, electrochemistry is credited with a great deal of real life applications and has had widespread impact on mankind. One of the most common and fundamental applications of electrochemistry is producing an electric current from a spontaneous redox reaction through the help of a device called the electrochemical cell. The electrode placed with the reducing agent is called anode, while the one placed with the oxidizing agent is called cathode. In this case, a strip of zinc metal should be placed in a solution of zinc nitrate and a strip of copper metal should be placed with copper nitrate. As the anode frees electrons where oxidation takes place, the electrons enter an electricity–conducting wire and travel to the cathode where reduction takes place, thereby creating electrical energy. In the meantime of this process, a positive charge and a negative charge accumulate in the oxidation and reduction vessel respectively, due to the transfer of electrons. Since electrons do not have a propensity to travel from a positively–charged region to a negatively–charged region, a salt bridge containing a cation and an anion that do not play a role in the redox reaction, is required to keep this system operating. An U–shaped tube connecting the vessels, the salt bridge releases its cations to the reduction vessel and its anions to the oxidation vessel to maintain the charge neutral. As scientific as this explanation may seem, battery, a ubiquitous product, is modeled after this cell system. Literature Review : The Individual Project Literature Review for the Individual Project Ziyang Ye 05/03/2016 Abstract Wind power, as a kind of renewable energy, is widely used for electric power generation. Being clean and easily acquired, wind power generation has a bright future. The conversion between wind energy and electric power can be divided into two parts. The kinetic wind energy is converted into mechanical energy by the wind turbine first. Then the mechanical power is converted into electrical power by a generator. The more efficient the conversion is, the less wind power the generator loses. Therefore, study on the efficiency of power conversion becomes an important subject. In this literature review, Maximum Power Point Tracking (MPPT) in Permanent Magnet Synchronous Generator (PMSG) under Power Signal Feedback Control algorithm will be mainly discussed. Introduction Wind power not only is clean and renewable but also has a large storage. The storage of wind power is ten times more than the storage of hydro energy which could be exploited and used. It is regarded as an alternative to burning fossil fuel, is widely distributed produces no greenhouse gas emissions during operation and uses little land [1]. For islands, grassland, pastoral area, mountain and highland, the water and fuel are always in a shortage. This situation makes the wind power the most suitable energy source for these areas. In addition to distance measurement, they are also utilised in ultrasonic material testing to detect; air bubbles, cracks, and other defects in products, detection of object and position, ultrasonic mouse, etc [37]. Ultrasonic sound waves are mechanical vibrations that display all of the same features as audible sound waves, only they operate at higher frequencies. Audible sound wave frequencies range between 20 Hz to 20 kHz. In contrast ultrasonic waves range from 20 kHz to 800 MHz, Generally, ultrasonic waves that are used for the testing of materials range from around 0.5 MHz to 20 MHz [38]. Ultrasonic waves are transferred via vibrating particles; therefore, ultrasonic waves require a transmission medium whether it is solid, liquid, or gas along which to propagate [3]. The velocity of sound is not constant, but, it alters in dissimilar media and also in the same medium at different temperature. For instance, it is estimated to be roughly around 331.9272 meters per second at 0В°C in air medium; however, it increased to around 344.4240 meters per second at 20В°C in the same air medium, or an increase of around 0.6248 meters per second for every centigrade degree rise in temperature [39]. • 38. Using Oil And Its Byproducts INTRODUCTION Throughout the years mankind has been using oil and its byproducts as a means of propulsion. However, we live in a world of finite resources and as oil is depleting it is necessary to find different resources. Using electricity as means of propulsion instead of internal combustion engines which is the current trend in most mechanical applications such as those in cars, ships and airplanes is what the world has deemed to be a solution to the over use of oil and its byproducts. Electricity is a resource which is significantly cleaner to the environment than that of oil, especially if generated by "green" means such as solar power, wind energy, etc. With this concept in mind, airplanes, which provide a means of transportation, ... THE MORE ELECTRIC AIRCRAFT The more electric aircraft (MEA) is a concept which describes the use of electronics in the existing airplane designs. As per (Kostakis, et al., 2014) cabin pressurization, air–conditioning and anti–ice wing protection require pneumatic power, flight surface actuation, landing gear and breaking require hydraulic power, and finally, engine fuel and oil pumps require mechanical power. Electrical power is limited to cabin lights, fans and avionics. However, on a MEA electrical power is used to power some or all the above mentioned loads. Additionally, two new technological features are incorporated on a MEA, the bleed–less engine and the electrical self–start of the engine. In a bleed–less engine, all of the air–intake is converted into thrust, without it having to be bypassed away from the compressors, as it would in a conventional engine, to power pneumatic loads. Bleed air is still required on the engine for operability reasons, but by reducing the amount of bleed–air required, this could allow the removal of some heavy equipment such as fans and ducts, and provides potential improvements in engine reliability. This architectural shift has brought benefits such as weight reduction, optimized performance and reduced life–cycle costs for the plane operator. Nonetheless, the increase in on–board electrical energy ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 40. Investigating The Effect Of Different Masses Hoisted By An... Abstract (Kaley Barnes and Isabelle Cunis): Using an electric motor, an experiment was performed to test the efficiency of the motor when the mass being lifted was increased in increments of ten grams. As the mass increased by each increment of ten grams, the motor efficiency decreased by an average of 7.439%. Our results were found by using the equation: efficiency=gain in potential differenceelectrical energy used Therefore, this inverse relationship proved mass affects the efficiency of electric motors. Introduction ( Jackson Cates and Aidan Rogers): The purpose of this experiment was to investigate the effects of different masses hoisted by an electric motor from ground level to a height of 1.29 m. The main purpose was to look how a change in mass affected the efficiency of our motor, but it did affect other variables such as power, current, force, etc. For this experiment, our hypnosis is that as mass increases, the efficiency increases. Because in the equation for efficiency, efficiency=gain in potential differenceelectrical energy used, gain in potential difference = mgh, the mass of an object has a direct relationship with the efficiency of the motor. In this equation, we see that efficiency is affected by the mass that is lifted, gravity, the height the mass is being lifted, and the amount of energy that is put into the system. We can see that mass, gravity, and height has a direct relationship while inputted power has an inverse relationship with efficiency. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 41. How Is Voltage Used In Australia Voltage represents electric potential energy per unit charge. If a unit of electrical charge was placed in a location, the voltage indicates the potential energy of it at that point. Basically, it is a measurement of the energy contained within an electric circuit or electric field at a given point. The voltage used in households in Australia is 230V 50Hz. How is electricity supplied to homes Australia is self–sufficient in energy resources for electricity generation. The black coal is used to supply electricity in New South Wales, Queensland and Western Australia, while the brown coal is used in Victoria. Australia also has hydro centrals, used to produce hydro –electric energy for Tasmania. States such as South Australia and Northern Territory ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
